I shopped at this store several times and I find the customer service is not real good and the prices are over whelmingly high and to not have the service to go along with that hurts me and my pocket. I went to purchase some salmon filets and they were fairly large. I
Asked the clerk to cut one in half for me and "annie" told me to do it myself. Also most of your baggers don't speak or greet you at the register! Nor do the cashiers. Therefore I suggest you get new help or re train the help you have! I'm tired of spending when no one could care less!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Organic produce is never fresh. The organic salad is sold on the expiration date. Publix Greenwise milk of often not as fresh as it should be. Because of it's location and convince, I opted to shop there anyway for other items. Today, their customer service department decided to single me out and humiliate me. They refused to accept my check without a valid reason. The customer service rep stated that I wrote a bad check back in 2005 and that it was already taken care of, and she was unsure why the computer system would not accept a check from me. She went on to say that possibly I wrote a bad check at another store other than Publix, but had no other information. She grilled me asking where I had wrote checks and where did my check bounce. According to my bank statement I did not have any outstanding dishonored checks. I will now be spending my money buying my groceries somewhere other than Publix.
Publix uses a company called Check Certegy to determine whether a check will be accepted or declined. In your particular case, it is not certain if this check was declined by Certegy, but since you said your returned check with Publix was taken care of in 2005, we will assume it was. Check Certegy is a company which is contracted by many businesses to assist them with their check acceptance. For example, if Publix and Target both contracted with Certegy, and you bounced a check at Target, it would not allow you to write a check with Publix.
The customer service associate or cashier should have given you a print out from the register explaining what Certegy is and how to go about taking care of the situation. Publix can not talk to Certegy on your behalf since they deal with personal information. I would certainly contact Certegy about your case because while you may not have any outstanding checks, it can be an early sign of identity theft.
The person at customer service was not "grilling" you. Whoever was there was trying to help you determine what went wrong and why your check was not being accepted. If they did not care about helping you purchase groceries, they would not have even bothered to investigate what was wrong. Stop taking everything so personally.
Hows about forget using checks and just get a damn debit card... Same thing, but a lot lot lot less hassle.
"YOUR BAGGERS DON'T SPEAK OR GREET YOU AT THE REGISTER! NOR DO THE CASHIERS."
Are you there for the purchase or a social visit?
If the posters attitude is anything like they type, I totally understand the disdain she is getting from these customer service personnel. Really.. would you be nice to someone who yelled all the time?
Publix is a bit more expensive however they are the only grocery in my area I can call and inquire if they have an item and get a REAL answer. I asked about a certain coffee once and they actually put me on hold and went to look for it... try that at Wal-Mart.
I work at Publix in braselton and was shocked when I went to the same publix in atlanta one day. I had to wait for the baker to finish her personal conversation before she rudely asked what I wanted. The customer service is awful there. Its not at all how my publix is or most publix I have been to, and the publix meat department is required to do personal cuts. I would have went to management after Anne told me that.
