bait and switch
Long lasting, loyal customer of Regions Bank. I received a pre-approved equity line of credit for a primary or secondary loan. Called and the loan was approved. I spent $53, 000 on condo upgrades. $24, 000 cash and the rest on personal lines of credit. I enter Regions Bank to collect my equity line check only to be denied with no reason given. Lawyers agree there is a case but will not take the case due to Regions size. So, justice will be served in an uncivil manner. Stealing will not be tolerated by me nor should anyone allow it.
fraud charges, stolen money 907.00
I closed out my account with zero balanced due to fraudlent transactions. I opened a new account with them to prevent these fraudent transaction. They continued to put the fraudulent transaction for a month or so, then withdrew 907.00 from my new account without notification. They will not refund my money they state even though an account is closed they will continue to put transactions through. Bull Sh...

steals money
Regions bank stole $105 from my account for NSF charges while they sat on a $25K deposit for 9 days. They offered me $35 of the stolen money for my trouble. I have nothing but time. I will post on every site I can find and put up a sign on property I own near the Regions branch in St. Amant, La. to warn everyone about Regions bank robbery tactics. Save your money, bank somewhere else. This site wants 100 words but I already summed it up...stay away from Regions Bank or throw your money away. Either way you'll never see it again.
Stealth Pilot is right. A large deposit such as your $25k will often require that the funds are held to give the bank time to collect the funds. If you were aware that your deposit was being held and you still spent the money, that is your fault.
legalized fraud
Well, Regions when I thought companies couldn't get any lower?
Regions bank has more excuses and more ways of charging for over draft fees, NSF fees...etc, but yet you see these happy commercials, where people have trust in Regions, shaking a can! The jokes on us PEOPLE, the can is THERE money. These banks are pure scams. I wish I had the means to file a class action suit against these money scamming banks. They have asked for bail out money, which they received. Now, they are fining new ways of ripping the public off. Isn't it funny, that if you use your debit card, the money is withdrawn ASAP, or it's denied? But you put money into your account and it has to go through this "###" process? Or, it won't be deposited because it's after 2pm. even though it cash? What a SCAM!
The other day my daughter transferred money into my account, from one regions acct to another. That evening I observed the transaction in my account. the weekend passed, Monday passed the money goes back in her account then on Tuesday evening my daughter called and asked me if I put the money is back in her acct. I called Regions the next day the 1-800 number, Regions gave me excuses about it was done at 4pm, therefore it won't be deposited until the next business day. Isn't that Monday? Well, Wednesday rolls around the deposit was made, after they deducted there fees, but yet I was able to withdraw money from account when their wasn't enough to cover the transaction? From the ATM?
This type of banking is the result of " Obamaomics". Which the government now controls these banks and anything goes. Before, if you didn't have the money you can't spend what you don't have.
What I learned through this process, is that every morning I need to print out my account balance, because the next day it will read differently...Isn't it funny when you argue the point in the branch office, the person you talk to doesn't believe what they are forced to say?
REGIONS YOU SUCK.. LEGALIZED EXTORTION AT IT'S BEST..I would rather the banks just put a gun to my head and just take my wallet, at least I can justify the incident.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am sorry, i can't focus on the issue. So on January 12, 2011, it was already Obama's fault?lol. He hadn't even been sworn in had he?
fraud and deceit
I closed my account with regions bank 8/31/2010 zero balance. October 18th an ach, comes in for $18.01 on a closed account and they accepted it why? Now I'm sitting with a $400.00 overdraft and bank charges. I was told from two people that pre-authorized account were my responsibility for 30 days after closing. however, after 30 days the account would automatically zero and closed. my charges came in 47 days after closing. do i have any financial liability? or have they broken the law? i offer this case to any attorney willing to take it.
Here is all information such as location, phone etc. http://www.usbankinginfo.com/bank/regions-bank/
I'm having the same issue - Regions is holding my direct deposit from my employer that went in on 8/1/2011 - I attempted to transfer those funds to my current bank through ACH transfer and Regions would not allow the payment to go through claiming the account was closed. If the account was truly closed, that direct deposit would not have gone through and would have went back to my employer for return to me. That didn't happen - Instead, Regions waited for that 8/1/2011 deposit to go into their account and then 'stole' that money from me and closed the account AFTER they saw that deposit go in. - At this point, Regions has over $1, 000 of my direct deposit in their hands that they are 'legally obligated' to send to the consumer when the account is at a 0 balance and closed with no outstanding loans, credit cards or liens, etc...A bank is NOT supposed to hold any consumers money if there is no outstanding debt to pay back to that bank. They are regulated by the Federal Reserve Bank if you want to have an investigator look into your complaint. They will have to speak to them on your behalf. If Regions Bank doesn't want to speak to you, have them speak to the people that govern their actions. You have a voice. Don't allow Regions to get away with it. Apparently, they're doing it to others as well.
Your complaint doesn't add up. How does an $18.01 ACH result in $400 of overdraft fees? Also, when you closed your account on 8/31, did you physically go into the bank and request your account to be closed, or did you just withdraw the account down to a $0 balance? Regardless of the account status, you would be out the same amount of money. If the account had been closed, the bank would have returned the ACH item and then charged a $35 Returned Item Fee, which is the same amount of the Overdraft Fee if they pay the item. The bank is correct in that it is the consumer's responsibility to make sure there are no outstanding checks or pending ACH items. The bank can't know everything you've got set up, and they cannot stop someone from presenting a payment to them that you've agreed to. Unless there is more to your story than is included in your original post, no law has been broken.
scam
My deceased, mentally challenged sister had a savings account with Capital Bank, bought by Union Planters Bank, bought by Regions Bank. Her account was active in the late 1970's when she was working at a sheltered workshop making $0.50/hr. The savings account represented one years earnings for her and was important to her.
After her death, the passbook was found and Regions Bank was notified of the account number, dates, amount, etc. No record existed of the account at Regions Bank and no statements were ever received in the mail. Regions Bank said inactive accounts were turned over to the state after a period of time depending on the state. I double checked with the state unclaimed property and they confirmed the account was never turned over to them as it should have been by law.
Regions Bank has not responded to my request asking where did the money go. Theft is the illegal taking of another person's property without that person's freely-given consent. What is Regions Bank hiding? Where did the money go?

My daughter was defrauded by U.S. Buildings of Deerfield FL. This company sells metal buildings, and uses lies, subterfuge and outright fraud to obtain credit card deposits. They send an "invoice" that states in small print that it is a CONTRACT. Then when they get a signature and a CC number, they charge a non-refundable "deposit" for "blueprints". Bait and switch is a specialty of USB. In fact, they appear to have worked very diligently to develop many ways to "outwit and outplay" consumers in order to end up with thousands of dollars in deposits, without sending any product.
If you know anyone who has been defrauded by U.S. BUILDINGS in Deerfield FL, have them file a complaint at: www.IC3.gov. This complaint site is sponsored by the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C). You can also file a complaint with the FTC (Fed. Trade Commission). They have websites that will inform you of your rights. You can also contact Evie Wilson at wilsonevie@hotmail.com to get on a consumer list of USB scammed people.
My daughter's credit card was issued by Regions Bank. When she filed a dispute with them for the $6884 U.S.Buildings fraudulently charged, her dispute was denied. Banks appear to cater to business, rather than to the "little" guy.

not supporting customers with fraudulent activity
I am one of 7 other people so far from my branch that has had their credit card and pin numbers cloned this past weekend. I think it's an inside Job at the bank - I submitted my claim and was told that the funds will not be available to me until 10 business days ! This person managed to take $1, 000 + the NSF Fees that the bank is taking out from my account on a holiday weekend!
I was able to call the head branch office to get $200.00 temporalily so that I can survive this weekend... Not good enough - How sad it is that in a situation that fraudulent activity is evident they don't help the customer out and credit the account the amount taken plus fees so that they don't have to deal with this headache.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
No it is not a inside job. But Regions sucks at customer service. I had fraud on a account 5 years ago with them. The person at the branch said she would order a new debit card for me, , even though she "wasn't sure how the account was compromised", meaning by account number or debit card number. I asked for a new account number and she said she did not know how to do that but could order a new card. I said fine and waited for my claim to be handled and then closed the account. They asked why and I told them, then they said they could do a new account if I wanted. Too late! But this is not a inside job.
service fee's overcharged
Account #[protected] closed by the Bank October 2010 is now handled by the Credit Department of the Bank, who are trying to collect $1, 078.00 which I feel is unfair as the Bank told me not to do anything on this account, as they will eliminate the service fee's before closing the account. The Bank is now charging me for the service fees, and I am willing to...

I had an account with Regions Bank in 2007. I went to the local branch on 27 Aug 2007 @ 9:20 am(just as the office opened) and deposited $534.00 cash. Before I gave the teller my cash I asked her if this cash will credit immediately because I had several pending transactions, and she said "yes". I have the customer receipt for this transaction. The next morning I checked my account to find out the monies that I deposited was never credited and all of the pending transactions, which added up close to what I deposited, were returned and I was hit with fees which ate up the cash. I went to the local branch again and I also called to speak with the branch manager and got no where. I went back and forth with the bank for 1 1/2 weeks. My family had to eat and I had other bills that needed to be paid, so I had no choice except to open another account with another bank and I also I had to make arrangements with the creditors for the transactions that were returned and all of this was put on my credit report, which is affecting me now because I'm in the middle of a legal separation and have to secure a place to live.

harrassment and invasion of my private information
My sister was mad at me and decide she would pull my personal information up with out my permission and treaten me while i was at work. An while she was on ya'll clock. This was done on september 14, 2010 and went on for hours.
Then she even treated me saying she was going to turn me in for fraud because at one time i was injuried at work and was on workmens comp.
This caused problems at my work and now i'm not working she has set me over the edge. She texted me so many times i could not even done my work. And I have save them all.
It really studs me that no one at regions caught on to what she was doing texting for at least an hour or so while she was on your clock suppose to be doing work not harrassing me.
Besides she had no right pulling my personal information up I deal with bankers her in Louisiana not illinois.
I have saved every text and i have talked to bankers over here.
I am getting an attorney, because this is just wrong and uncalled for. I do have rights and they have been slandered. (Bambi Guidry) - who else has she done this to.
Yours Truly

I NEVER GAVE HER MY INFORMATION. A YES THIS HAPPENED WHILE SHE WAS ON YA'LLS CLOCK. I HAVE NEVER EVEN TOLD HER I HAD AN ACCOUNT WITH REGIONS. SO WHAT RIGHT DID SHE HAVE TO GO INTO TO MY PERSONAL BUSINESS AND WHO ELSES HAS SHE BEEN INTO.
THIS IS ILLEGAL ON YA'LLS PART SHE HAS NO RIGHT GETTING INTO ANYONES PERSONAL BUSINESS UNLESS ASKED BESIDES HER HARRASSING ME WHILE ON YA'LLS CLOCK GETTING PAID.

IF YA'LL CAN DO ANYTHING THE BRANCH HERE IN LOUISIANA SAID FOR ME TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY AND SUE BOTH SIDES
courtesy, but for whom?
Last week, July 28, 2010, i made an online payment to FIA CS, branch of Regions Corp. i used my regions visa check card for small purchases here and there over the weekend. i called regions automated system to find out my balance on Monday neg $288.00!" Apparently i duplicated my payment to FIA Card Services. in spite of a minus balance none of my Visa Check Card transactions were declined. i have NO overdraft protection.
Regions explanation was that "as a courtesy to me" they extended to me $500.00 in "additional funds." what this really means is that they gave themselves permission to charge me up to $500 in overdraft fees! had i known there was a problem, i could have covered the overage immediately. since i had no knowledge of this "courtesy" and no knowledge of the negative balance, Regions had a free for all collecting $35 for each of the $5 - $20 purchases which i made.
PLEASE BEWARE OF REGIONS BANK'S IDEA OF COURTESY!
I have had the same checking account since 1985. My first and second mortgages are with Regions. my only satisfaction will be in selling my home (of 21 years) and paying them off. i refuse to allow them to foreclose and write me off as a loss. my payback will be by denying them any future interest on my accounts.

Ok after having been ripped off majorly by this bank I tried to call corporate - except the phone was disconnected. Really?
Yep. On purpose. You can't speak to anyone other than branch people & agents on the phone & they have to e-mail someone else for you - but only using their radio button list.
Asked for legal dept to call me back, but silly me didn't know Regions is in so many lawsuits for not paying employees, ripping off customers with fees of all kinds, TARP fraud, securities fraud, mortgage problems - seriously - they filed with the SEC their annual filings and couldn't estimate what they'd be spending on legal fees this year - at least $300, 000 in one case alone.
Meanwhile they've decided to continue, I was told by a branch staffer - they've decided to continue to rip off people with the overdraft scam DESPITE a class action lawsuit in progress.
Yes - even though there is a class action against them, Chase settled their same type class action for $110, 000 million, Bank of America settled theirs for $200 million, bank after bank has settled & discontinued to do this rippoff scam to their customers but NOT good ol REGIONS.
Region has a sneaky little tag in their contract that they don't "do" class actions... OMG!
File online complaint with your state Attorney General.
Write your state banking commission or dept. usually a form online you fill out & mail.
File an online complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
Sorry to those sweet people who work for this bank - but this bank has got to go!
They should not be in business anywhere on the planet!
robs the poor
I had an online merchant put an unauthorized check through my account and try to comitt fraud against me. Now regions in Louisiana specifically in Mandeville says since it isn't a bank error they are charging me and NSF fee and a stop payment fee on the check.
Guess what it isn't my fault either but, they won't budge! It's like in Chicago during the Crime period where a gangster comes in and says:"If you give me your "insurance money" so then maybe I will protect you against this problem."
So, 71 dollars later, the bank officer says I can place a debit hold on the account and no one will be able to access it for checks or debits. Duh, why did I put the stop payment!?
I am so angry!
There is a difference between a stop payment and a a debit hold. The stop payment is meant to stop payment from one particular check/merchant. A debit hold stops payments from ALL checks/merchants.
won't listen
Regions bank is *** me off by calling me every 2 or 3 hours at night they want to talk to a DEAD man and they think they can bully me in to giving them something that I don't have readily available. That is who won't listen to me. They refuse to believe me so I will have to go in person to show them my late husbands ashes. Anyone got any better ideas to help me with this problem. The bank people don't live on 1 income a month like I do.I pray they will..
Regions Bank ripped us off $140.00 in overdraft fees on items that hadn't even posted yet. They assumed we were going to bounce so they charged us $35.00 for four items they thought were going to bounce, even though nothing bounced they still charged us $140.00, we had no parenthases around any of our numbers on our statement how does that work They can charge you an overdraft fee if they THINK you will overdraw!. We checked our account online and were sure we had money in the bank but they held a transactions then posted it after they had bounced our account and of course they go highest to lowest so even if you had enough money in there after they take their overdraft fees you don't have a chance in hell of coming out on top. We live paycheck to paycheck so we watch our account very closely so when they bounce us for a 2 or 3 dollar item then charge us $35.00 it doesn't take much and they have $100 or $200 hundred dollars. This should be illegle and Regions Bank should be ashamed of its self. They are stealing money from the hardest working and lowest income people in America the ones who bailed them out last year.
mamo screening
I went for my annual mammography screening and was told to come back for a second screening because 'there appears to be something' on my left breast.
Went back the second time around, and the radiologist tried to find the 'spot' but after poking and prodding for 20 minutes, they still were not able to find it. Until finally I said to them to "stop looking for something that is not there!"
I was billed $225 and $97 for the second visit and my insurance refused to pay 100% and I ended up paying $126.57
I called and complained to the billings department and they informed me that I had a choice of not coming in to do the second procedure but I told her that I was informed that I had a choice. I was instructed to come in because they found 'something'.
I paid the bill but still feels that I was a victim.

illegal insf from exempt pension funds
On 03/03/2010 Regions Bank allowed a non-wage garnishment to be placed on the individual checking account used for receiving ACH's from pensions in direct violation of Illinois Statute. Regions Bank did not bother to see what was presented for deposits in this account and whether or not exempt from any form of garnishment. I realized the problem on 03/04/2010 when I checked the automatic teller 1-800 number. I contacted the Clinton Branch of the Regions Bank, found out exactly what had occurred. I stopped off at home and got the pertinent copies of the pension deposits being exempt but the Branch Manager, who seemed not to understand nor would do anything at this time. I finally got the garnishment removed by court order on 03/24/2010 but Regions Bank decided to charge me $2, 100 in insufficient check charges for the checks I'd written prior to this event but were attempted to be cashed after the non-wage garnishment was activated and returned. Consequently, having no pension check for the month of March and the obstinant refusal of the Regions Bank, Clinton, IL branch, I was not able to make a mortgage payment, utilities, vehicle, water, critical medicines, other due monthly payments and now I stand to loose my residence, car, and everything else I've worked towards for 35 years in this community. I wrote protest letters during the evening of 03/26/2010 to the various Regions Bank offices and they should have gotten these. I have made an appointment with an atty. in Decautr, IL in reference to this tragic event and will have answers in the next few days. I've also proceeded processing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy as that previously mentioned non-wage garnishment was only for $167, 000 from a catestrophic medical event several years ago. What really got me upset was the Clinton branch manager of Regions Bank lied to me and attempted to convince me it was all the Levy-Garnishment Dept. responsibility. I called the Levy-Garnishment office in Birmingham and learned what the truth really was; it was a local call by the facility manager and not as so indicated to me by the Clinton Branch Manager who obviously trying to toss the blame off of his shoulders and onto others. I asked as well as to what reasoning the bank manger was using to deny the return of the pension funds and with his distorted logic and he indicated it was not a bank error. I asked for his supervisors name and he refused to indicate who that would be at the Decatur, IL main bank regardless of several attempts to inquiry on this name since it was a secret! When a Bank decides to do this to an extremely ill pensioner with severe medical conditions causing a slow and painful death because I could not get the critically needed prescription medicines and shows no ethics or compassion in doing what is correct, then such a bank has no business in the financial world but doing what it does best - shylocking the unfortunate client suffering from the aftermath of a brain anueroysm. There seems to be a continuing pattern for Regions Bank in this type of operation to increase profits, employee bonues on the backs of customers who have used this shyster financial institution.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
This is not the bank's fault. The bank pretty much has to abide by it until and unless the Court tells them otherwise. It's just how a garnishment works. (If the bank did not hold the funds, it could be held liable for the ENTIRE amount of the Final Judgment entered against YOU.)
You won't lose your house or car for one missed payment. Call your creditors and explain the mix-up.

ALL THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD
Here is what I am finding hard to accept:
• How does a man default on over $8, 000, 000 in construction loans from Regions Bank, File for and get approved for bankruptcy, and in the meantime form and develop a new business with the man who was the main contact with Regions Bank for both companies?
• How does Regions Bank allow for the overdraft of a "purchase card" to reach over $140, 000 before turning it off (as laid out in lawsuit)?
doesn't care
Godaddy.com charged my debit card an automatic debit fee of 6.99 when my auto-renew feature was SUPPOSED to be OFF. their third-party merchant, the reprehensible CERTEGY, TWO WEEKS LATER charged me 30.00 for the returned 6.99. BOTH of these overdrew my account with REGIONS BANK which then caused an avalanche of overdraft fees (4) totalling $140.00!
Even though godaddy promptly reversed the 6.99, REGIONS has refused to return my overdraft fees that this caused, stating that i have to get these BIG BUSINESSES to pay them, since 'they' caused them. Regions knows, of course, that i have NO chance of convincing the Big Guys to admit fault and pay these fees.
The Managers at Regions have said that if i get something in writing from godaddy then 'they'll see what they can do'. they've profited 140.00 on my unfortunate and expensive situation.
After no less than 5 phone calls to godaddy's Cust. Service, who promised return phone calls from management WHICH NEVER HAPPENED, i've been on the phone with godaddy's "President's Office", and left them my Branch Manager's email address and FaX #. in the meantime, i'm getting collection notices for the 30.00 from CERTEGY THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN APPLIED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I'm now in danger of more overdrafts, and have YET to hear anything from Godaddy, OR Regions Bank. Do yourselves, people, a favor and CHOOSE LOCAL BANKS!
FOLLOW UP:
after hearing of this complaint (and more to follow at other like services, trust me), and even with it being QUITE obvious that godaddy.com erred and refunded my fees, Regions gave me 10 days to close my account.
CLOSED MY ACCOUNT, because i complained of the overdraft fees that occurred through the error of a third party.
the response from my Branch Mgr when i explained (emphatically) that this was NOT my error, that it was the merchant's error, was simply that "it's not the bank's fault". this is what they continued to say.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The bank is only allowed to refund a small percentage of fees accrued on their accounts over the course of a month. If they exceed this amount, then it affects not only the profitability of that particular branch, but the pay of every associate in that branch from the branch manager down to the newest teller. There are situations that do occur where the bank must refund fees due to their own error, so keeping that in mind, they have to be very frugal in what fees they will agree to refund in every situation. The bank is not likely to refund all the fees accrued because of someone else's error when it would adversely affect everyone who works there. Customer service is important, yes. But banking is BUSINESS, and it's not good for the business if they're losing profit and losing disgruntled employees whose paychecks are being affected by something they cannot control. It only makes sense that the individual or merchant who caused the fees should be responsible for paying the fees.
greedy and uncooperative and horrible business practices
This company is purely one of the worse banks that I've EVER had to deal with in my life. First, upon opening my account with a cash deposit, after making it available for use and using my debit card, they decide that they want to place a hold on my checking account. Subsequently, causing all the transactions that I did, to overdraft my account. After...

They completely lost $3, 000.00 dollars of mine. Then they put it back in my account a couple of days later after I noticed the deposit was not there. I had to go to the bank and prove it. i was treated very badly by the Assistant manager there named Brenda. She said it was a FL account and that she could not help me. Finallly a branch manager helped me named melissa but she was only filling in for the manager that was not present. So, now over a week and ahalf later I am still fighting for them to fix me NSF fees they made me incur and they keep saying they will handle it and still have not. I talked with the assistant Manager again today and she said it will be fix and I will call you right back to let you know it is. No call and it is still not fixed! I do not know what to do. I think I might get some higher power involved.
By the way they did admit it was bank error so you would think they would be quick to fix the NSF fees that they caused and admit to causing...Why do I have to fight to get them to fix it when it was there fault in the first place. It should not take over a week and a half to fix these fees they caused. And still no sign that they are being fixed! I need 8 on your side!

I've banked at Regions 4 years. This past year they've put holds on my deposits twice even though there has never been a problem with any of my deposits clearing. 3 weeks ago I had a CD mature. A banker there told me the interest would be 2.1% on a 54month CD so I renewed it. When I got confirmation yesterday it said 1.85%, now it"s past the grace period and it would cost me 6 months interest (at 4.75%) to remove my money. They don't show the branch offices local phone numbers, not even in local phone books, and the branch is 50 miles from my house. Not a happy camper here.
