Customer service
I have seen a change in service since November of 2022 when I joined. At first they were receptive and attentive to my needs. Some where in July when I called for telesupport all I can say I was blown off and since July I was unable to get any personal care for my device at all. I contacted the CEO, David Milman in August 2023 after a month of no contact. I...
Read full review of RescuecomRescuecom is corrupt. Never order any equipment from this company.
Corrupt beyond belief. They are scammers and liars. David A. Milman is corrupt and rips people off. Mr. Milman makes no attempt to resolve the issue and puts you through the ringer like you are the criminal. No, you, David A. Milman, are no better than a criminal stealing money from unsuspecting people. Do not do business with this company - ever!
Bottom line, this company ripped me off $1,266.00. I will not rest until justice is done. I will fight them tooth and nail until I get the money back they stole from me. Until then, this company needs to be put out of business. Do not do business with them! I can't repeat this enough.
The details of the fraudulent transaction by Rescuecom follows:
I ordered an HP ENVY 17 laptop from Rescuecom. I worked with Alex who is in customer service at Rescuecom. I researched the HP laptop prior to buying it to ensure the price that they were quoting me was reasonable and it would meet my needs. Alex and I spoke again after I had researched the HP laptop and was satisfied with moving forward. During this conversation, we discussed getting more RAM. Alex said he had one with more RAM and we could go with that. When the laptop arrived, it was not an HP ENVY 17, but instead a Dell Latitude. Alex never once mentioned that I was now purchasing a Dell Latitude laptop instead and a model not at all comparable to what the HP laptop was. The laptop does not appear new as well. It arrived in bubble wrap and not in the original packaging. I was shocked. I started researching this Dell Latitude laptop and you can buy it on eBay for $259.99, $359.99, etc. I paid Rescuecom a total of $1266.00 with the laptop being quoted at a cost of $1000 with a transfer fee of $266.00 - meaning they would provide service to transfer the data off of my current desktop to the laptop. I called Rescuecom to return this laptop and requested a refund. I spoke to Alex on my initial phone call. Alex insisted that he told me that the laptop was a Dell Latitude. To be blunt, Alex is a liar. I have the conversation with Alex recorded where he never mentioned that I was now buying a Dell laptop instead of an HP laptop. I spoke to David A. Milman, the owner of Rescuecom as well as the CEO. David was outrageously rude and was not taking any steps in order to resolve my complaint. David insisted that I listen to my conversation with Alex that they had recorded to really prove that Alex didn't communicate to me that I was now buying a Dell Latitude, instead of the HP ENVY 17. I sat on the phone for quite some time listening to the recording that proved my complaint was valid and accurate. Alex never mentioned anything about me now purchasing a Dell laptop. Mr. Milman actually rewound the recording to listen to a section for a second time. Mr. Milman was obnoxious and disrespectful. He actually said I had buyer's remorse and that Rescuecom does not provide any refunds or accept any returns for equipment. Really? You sent me a product that I did not order and overcharged me by at least $1,000.00. Mr. David A. Milman, you are not going to get away with this. This Milman and his company scammed me by sending me a $259.00 Dell refurbished/used laptop instead of what I had ordered that was around $1,000.00. There is something seriously wrong with this person and this company. They are deceitful and Alex, the sales rep, did a bait and switch on me. I really can't believe that this company gets away with such fraudulent, deceitful business practices.
I have now learned that there are complaints against Mr. David A. Milman that are similar to what I just experienced. He actually tells the BBB to remove each complaint against him and his company. BBB does not remove any of the complaints; I am sure they are all valid, because why would anyone go to the trouble of filing a complaint with the BBB otherwise? Mr. David A. Milman also does not let you dispute the charges on your credit card without the bank contacting him first. I am going to work with the bank and provide them all the evidence they need to find Mr. David A. Milman liable for misrepresenting the products he sells to unsuspecting customers and getting my money refunded back to me. I am confident I will get a positive resolution with my bank. If on the slight chance I don't, I will contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and expose this CEO and company even further. I am also going to my local news station and get the word out there about this CEO and his company. I intend to get the word out nationwide.
Again, Mr. David A. Milman and his company, Rescuecom, are beyond corrupt. Their business practices are unethical. I cannot emphasize this enough. Do not hire this company to do any work for you.
Please take a look at the picture of the laptop that they sent me. It is clearly used/refurbished - wrapped in bubble wrap and thrown into a box with only the power cord - with no original packaging, etc. It is a Dell instead of the HP that I had ordered. I still can't believe they have the nerve to do something like this. But, they do!
Desired outcome: I would like the $1,266.00 refunded back to me. I would like them to pay for the shipping of their refurbished/used laptop in order to send their substandard and incorrect equipment back to them.

Technician hasn't arrived and I still have problems with computer
I have contacted Deft Computer Solutions Inc. Aka Rescuecom. This company provides computer repair services and technician help 24/7. My friend told me about them and said that I should call them, when there were problems with my computer. I agreed and called, but on the phone the agent said that he could send technician. I agreed and waited for the whole day, but the tech didn’t come. I called again to this company and the rep forgot about our previous conversation and again promised to send the tech.
Computer repair company
Rescucom is the biggest joke in the computer repair industry! DO NOT...DO NOT use these con artists! I had a computer problem and called them to fix it they sent a technician over to the house and he fumbled around for about an hour and a half but got nothing fixed! I got charged over $140 plus they charged me with one of their own Anti-viruses that didn't work -- I got more and more viruses. I called and got through to the president of the company and he laughed at me saying there's nothing I could do to get my money back and then proceeded to threaten me by saying that only they can get the anti-virus removed but it will cost a lot of money. He continued to laugh! I later got another technician from another company over to fix what Rescucom did and the tech told me that most of his clients are victims of Rescuecom and told me they are a scam company hiring inexperienced techs. I also was told the same by a few techs at a local MicroCenter (computer super center). Bottom line...find someone else at all costs!
No service big charges
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY ! THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE SCAM ! I was having issues with my computer linking to my wireless router, so made the call to Rescuecom. I was told by the person on the phone that a technician will be calling for a flat rate of $128 (regardless of time spent on the phone). The technician, who was absolutely worthless (he knew a bit more about computers than I did...), was unable to fix the problem and blamed it all on my internet provider. He then said he would call the internet provider himself to try and figure out why the problem could not be fixed...never heard back from him since... Approx 3 days later I gave them a call back to see what the status was, and NO ONE had any idea, and was told by a very UN-friendly customer service agent that they would call the technician and ask what the status was...heard nothing back from them again... Decided to call them again 4 days later, and still NO ONE had an idea as to where the technician was or the status on the work order... I asked them to go ahead and cancel the work order and please reimburse me for the amount that I was charged as NOTHING got fixed... At which point the highly UN-sympathetic customer service agent went on to say that they would have to do a "full investigation" before I would get my money back, and that I would receive a confirmation in 24 to 48 hours... heard nothing back from them again so decided to call 4 days later at which time I was told that the investigation was still ongoing and that the President of the company would have to approve the reimbursement of this payment (a mere $128)...Finally when I calmly mentioned I would contact BBB and other Depts to report their service as a SCAM, the lady said "that's fine!" and quickly got off the phone with me... the issue is yet to be resolved... I am a small business and a firm supporter of US small businesses, but no wonder we are losing tech jobs to India and China...you can't really understand them but at least they are courteous and somewhat sympathetic to your situation...my only advice is to STAY AWAY from Rescuecom and hope no one else goes through the hell I just experienced...

I had the same issue with this rip-off company. Useless phone support, un-knowledgeable and thieving on-site technicians (he stole $50 from my desk!).
When i asked for my money back they rudely refused and would not take my repeated phone calls.
STAY AWAY!
just want your money
DO NOT USE RESCUECOM. Folks, beware this company. Their only goal is to get your money and take advantage of people that find themselves in a desperate state with their PC. I had a computer virus, they were the only computer repair site I could get to... that in itself is interesting!
I DID make an appointment for a service call but called and canceled within 30 mins when I realized I could restore my PC to a previous day. You'd think this company would be happy for me, nope, still want their money; close to $200. They are clueless in building customer relationships. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AND I WILL GO OUT OF MY WAY TO TELL OTHERS NOT TO USE THEM. NOTE: THEY HAVE YOUTUBE COMMERCIALS AND NOTE THAT YOU CAN'T LEAVE COMMENTS.

Poor Service/RipOff
This company is a joke. I had been having startup problems with my PC, and I knew it was the power source. I called RescueCom and they agreed with me and would sent a tech out. When he got here he made comments about me having an old monitor, and no plastic sheeting underneath my chair. He then took my computer apart, vacuumed it, and told me that it was the power source. Big surprise there. He told me he could repair it, but it would take about 4 hours because he would need to install it, then program the computer, and install a firewall. He then told me if he were to go buy the power source, I would be charged a expedite fee. Their ad states no hidden fees or travel charges. When I told him that, he said an expedite fee is for him to go and get the part. A travel fee is him getting to my home. Sounds like a travel fee to me no matter what spin you put on it. That is the biggest bunch of crap I have ever heard. I couldn't get him out of my house fast enough. When I told him it was a rip off, he hung around to call his supervisor, and tried to get me to again commit to having them repair it. My friend called me during this, and couldn't believe he was waiting around on his phone, in my home, calling his manager. She said, "GET HIM OUT!" I finally did.
DON'T ANYONE USE THIS COMPANY! THEY SUCK!

I hope somebody puts a stop to this rip-off business
I am enclosing a copy of correspondence I have had with Rescuecom. I hired them to repair my home computer which had been hit by a virus (Virus Heat). After 3 visits and $1086 in billing the technician came back on a "warrenty call" and after 6 more hours said the computer would no longer boot up and there wqs nothing he could do about it. Finaly they refunded me $348 on my credit card. That was the best I could do with talking to the company president. I received no benefit at high cost. Recuecom advertizes that if they don't fix it, it is free but then they hide behind a $250 limit in their very wordy contract. Initially I wasn't worried because they told me it would take 2-3 hours to fix it. Then when they took 11 hours to break it they say their limit is $250. After they were gone I booted up and installed a new copy of Window. Since then (3/28/08) the computer has been working fine. Another trick they play is to have you sign a spot on the service call receipt saying you are satisfied with the work performed. The problem there it that it is "Required before the technician leaves site." When the techniican left the first time he told me it was all fixed and ready to go. Then he stood there (at $98/hr) until I signed the form. After he left I found that the computer was stuck in a restricted boot configuration and many functions would not work. Of course it took me a few hours to identify all the malfunctions.
Basically it was a big rip-off. I have found out that Rescuecom has already been a subject (unflattering) of an investigative report by a local TV station in Syracuse, N.Y. where they are home based.
Enclosed is a worsheet I supplied the technician at his last visit. I had corrected some of the malfunctions as indicated by strike-throughs.
I hope somebody puts a stop to this rip-off business.

David the owner is a con artist does not pay technicans for work they do stay away unless you like to work for free
I certainly agree with the way this guy runs his buisness. I might add a small jive-time buisness which only pays minium wage to its employees. If you are lookin for a short-term posistion RESCUECOM is your place to work. I was an employee there and wittness people either being fired or just walking off the job. My position was a customer service rep. and True other franchise forfeited their contract because of the frustration and headaches. They did not give a dam about the 10, 000$ penalty i was told by one franchisee Millman would have to get in in blood because he wasn't paying one red cent or nickel. I answered the telephone with annoying calls from bill collecters trying to collect a debt from money that Millman owed them such as Telephone companies, heating and air conditioning company even the Light company called and threaten to disconnect the services. I recall once the trash or DPW had put a trash dumpster in front of his company and caddy - cornered so we had no where to park. But the dumpster was put there til Millman paid the money he had owed. This lilltle man had owed everybody everywhere money it was ridiculous and for me as a one of his employee to have known that was sickening. I knew I wasn't going to last long at the Company but I did not want to quit so I waited for the day for them to fire me for no legitmate reason and then I collected unemployment until I found new work. They were notorious for firing people at a drop of a dime and they did it in front of others therefore it was always a scene. I thought that was in poor taste. MIllan was beginning to lose his Company when he brought On board his Lover from New Jersey JOsh Kaplin who is now president of his company.Kaplin had a franchise in New Jersey that was shooting bad as well so Kaplin and MIllman decided to merge together and rip off as a team. Stealing telephone lines or numbers from their competition The GEEK SQUAD. People would often call and think they had dialed the number to the Geek Squad and in fact it was no mistake but MIllman some how had the calls rolled into his lines which was another one of his scams. America do not work for this company or have them repair your computer or labtops youwill regret it
This company is nothing but TROUBLE. I agree with everything you said above. This company started out strong with more than 60 franchises, then lost like 40 of them because the franchisees pulled out of the contract after about a year when they realized what a big mistake they had made. The franchisees were literally making pennies on profits as the Rescuecom CEO David Milman was taking the lions share of the profits from them.
The franchisees are forced to charge higher prices so they can compensate to make some money from the transactions, thus they soon realized this was a losing proposition and promptly got out of the contract. Of course, Milman charged them with a $10, 000 fee for breaking the contract prematurely.
If there was a way to characterize the company and it's policies it would be almost Mafia like. The company does not have a friendly environment overall, probably which begins at the top. Usually the success or failure of a company is reflected from their leadership, so if the leadership is messed up, so it goes with the rest of the company. It's a trickle down effect.
My suggestion is to stay as far away from this company as you possible can. Milman was forced to close alot of his franchises as a result of what happened and the ones that remain open are being managed from a distance with no real accountability for the technical support. The morale in this company is low so therefore the performance results are also going to be low.
Rescuecom is a rip-off company!
This company charges $99.00 per hr. to send a tech to your house to fix/troubleshoot computer problems. On 2/4, a tech came tomy house.
Spent 1 3/4 hrs. trying to correct networking problem. Paid $187.50. Five minutes after tech left, I had same problem he supposedly fixed. He also gave me a new wireless network which was UNSECURED,because he didnt know that he was able to choose SECURED or UNSECURED while fixing it. Had me call APPLE to get ADM. PASSWORD. Apple told me tech sets up password. When I called to complain, manager offered to send over same tech. I refused same tech because she was not too savy. Manager responded he was only tech available. I told him to forget about it it and I put a STOP PAYMENT on check. So please be very careful about computer techs who come to your house. NEVER pay cash. There are a lot of ripoff PEOPLE IN THIS BUSINESS.

Scam scum
I think i got into the same problem with these guys.
Couple month ago i had problem with my computer. I went there for help and they sold me this so called - One year unlimited service for $ 29.99 per month.
My computer is still slow. I decided to buy new PC and one year antivirus program and cancel this agreement with this company. Because it doesn't make any sense paying for what is not working.
Today January 23. 2017 I called Rescuecom and they said that i can’t do that. I have to stay with them for one year and keep paying them or i can just make one payment for whole year in advance. Plus the guy name David called me scammer. Saying that i want to scam him for this money. Which is totally unacceptable calling people like that. .

Hello,
This is my second comment about Rescuecom. Since my first comment I found out that My American Express Card which I used to get Rescuecom to make the drive to my apartment ... is the same credit card company Rescuecom uses to handle their business. American Express only gave one-half of my money back !
Situation: I called Rescuecom because my computer could not access the internet and I had already tried everything I know to do it myself. One and 1/2 hours after I made the appointment my computer began to work properly again. I called Rescuecom to cancel the appt. and to have my money returned to me. They said they told my NO REFUNDS. I told them no one told me about NO REFUNDS. Rescuecom said they had a tape of me listening to the No Refunds speech and my acceptance. I told them ... let me hear it. I told American Express they had a tape. Turns out American Express tells me that Rescuecom fired the employee who spoke to me because he did not tell me about the NO Refunds policy.
Still I had to pay $68.00 ( which is 1/2 ) for absolutely nothing. I am laid off now. I do not feel Rescuecom should be in business and I do not think American Express is all that they are cracked up to be. I am their customer and they let me down big time.
Deb
There are a lot of computer repair companies out there. The problem is with regulation, or lack there of. Any person can start a "COMPUTER REPAIR BUSINESS". There are a ton of these types of guys on Craigslist and other sites! They list their services at LOW LOW rates, somewhere around $20/hour or $40-80 flat rate fee for repair. Now a thorough cleanup service for a virus or spyware/malware infection should take about 4-6 hours. It can take as little as 1-2 hours th0ough, depending on the speed of the computer and the severity & number of infection(s). So what do you suppose will will happen to your computer if you entrust it to a "COMPUTER TECHNICAIN" such as you'd find on CraigsList who charges $40 flat rate (for example)? A $20/hour technician is not a reputable one. If he was truly good at computer repair, he would charge a much higher rate. I agree with Rob Cox's post above (from Cox Networking & PC Services). $70-$90 / hour is a reasonable rate. Geek Squad charges about $100-$150 / hour for most IN HOME service calls. Although they don't charge per hour, rather, a flat fee per TYPE of repair service, they have a quota of time per service, so a virus removal would be about 2-3 hours. So when it comes to your personal property, like a computer, which has a certain dollar value, and YOUR DATA, which is very valuable, sometimes priceless...do not entrust your computer & sometimes your LIFE to a $20/hour CraigsList computer tech.
RescueCOM may suck, but the RESCUETECH USA team has been rated very high in their honest business practice, level of expertise, proficiency of repair, & customer satisfaction. Visit www.rescuetechusa.com today!
rescucom ripped me off badly. Their motto is "no fix, no charge". That is a lie. They could not repair my ladtop that has a viscious virus attack in April of '09. But, they take your credit card first, and therein lies the problem. I was on the phone with the idiot, know-nothing, "tech" while I watch the cursor go here and there.
There was nothing he could do for my machine. I asked him if he charged my card, and he mumbled something to the effect that he "didn't think so" and then went on the say "if I did, just call customer service and they'll refund the money"
Well, he did charge me $127.00 for nothing, and to add insult to injury, he also charged me another $93.00 or s0 for and anit-virus program that I never received. It would have been impossible to send a program to my computer anyways. It was dead meat and the virus was disallowing internet connections.
I protested the charges to them and to my credit card company. At first my credit card company disallowed the charges. But Rescuecom has a dedicated staff to fight their many protests and they got my Sears Master Card to pay them the money. I protested to Master Card again, but to no avail. I then canceled my Sears Credit Card in protest. They allowed me to be ripped off by these internet pirates call Rescuecom.
DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY WITH RESCUECOM! THEY ARE LIARS AND CHEATS!
Today is June 16, 2009
A few days ago I called Rescuecom to com out and fix my computer.
About 1.5 hours after I called to have them come out ... I called again to cancel the ticket or whatever they call it.
They told me there are no refunds! Geez! It was only an hour and a half after I placed the call! I used American Express and put a dispute on the charge. American Express sent me a letter today saying that my case is more difficult and may take a month or more. They charged me over 100.00. like maybe 140.00.
Rescuecom is a very slimey company
In general, it is a good idea to use google or yahoo to search the internet to see if a company has any unresolved complaints against it. You would not believe the number of videos about computer repair companies there are on youtube or google video.
Very few companies will ever have no complaints from their clients simply because we all can make "msitakes". (LOL)
Those companies that hire relatively inexperienced technicians are going to have the most problems. The main thing is that if there was any issue - did the company make it right?
Regarding rates: I have over 20 years of experience in working on computers, I have trained over 500 people to repair computers, and I charge $90/hour. If you get a tech with 6 months experience, are they worth even close to that?
Be aware of what you are getting. Your best bet for good results is a privately owned company where the owner is the tech and has lots of experience.
Good luck with your next repair.
