Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is absolutely terrible!
Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is absolutely terrible! The secretaries there are so bad at making and confirming appointments correctly. And don't even get me started on the doctors. They never bother to return your calls. If you dare to ask for a prescription over the phone, they automatically assume you're just trying to get drugs. They'll tell you to go to urgent care or make yet another appointment. I only chose Rothman because it's a famous name, but boy was that a massive blunder.
Horrible patient service at the Workers Compensation Department
Horrible patient service at the Workers Compensation Department. My insurance adjuster called and sent emails to confirm authorization, but the secretaries answering phones with a very nasty demeanor couldn't find the information in the system and didn't feel necessary to look into it any further and hung up the phone on me after telling me that she doesn't argue.. huh?!
I met someone else who got ripped off by Rothman Orthopaedic Institute
I met someone else who got ripped off by Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. They went in for a quick 10-minute consultation, but got charged for a whole hour. This person is a doctor and knows the billing codes, so they were not happy. As for me, I got charged over $1200 for just one x-ray and a short 7-minute consultation. Let me tell you, this institute is a total rip-off. I honestly think they're trying to make up for the money they lost in 2020. If you feel like throwing your money away, then go ahead and make an appointment.
My wife was getting ready for surgery at AdventHeath because of a bad infection in her forearm and elbow
My wife was getting ready for surgery at AdventHeath because of a bad infection in her forearm and elbow. It was really serious and needed immediate attention. The Rothman surgeon came into the operating room and said it wasn't an emergency, and just left. We were really confused and didn't know what to do. The surgeon saw my wife later and told her to go back to the previous doctor who didn't even bother to show up during her several-day stay at the hospital. To make things worse, they charged us $50 for that visit, but I made them take it back. Eventually, my wife had to have another surgery, but when I tried to question some of the charges on the AdventHealth bill, they sent it to collections.
This treatment was the worst I ever got
This treatment was the worst I ever got. John S and his team are a joke. I saw them, but it was like they couldn't see. When I entered their care, I felt uncomfortable about the treatment. It was cold, ignorant, and left me with more questions. I tore my ACL and meniscus, and nobody knew how to handle it before surgery. I completely gave up and had to go to NYC for treatment. Honestly, I wouldn't suggest this place to my worst enemy. They haven't heard the end of me.
I gotta say, I'm a bit late to the party, but I wanted to give a shoutout to PA John Fleishman for my April 8 appointment
I gotta say, I'm a bit late to the party, but I wanted to give a shoutout to PA John Fleishman for my April 8 appointment. I was lookin' for some feedback and sent him my old xray disks and what the radiologist had to say. To my surprise, he actually called me up to have a little chat about what I sent him. That really helped things go smoothly during the appointment 'cause we didn't have to start from scratch. And guess what? I got the advice I needed! The office was like a well-oiled machine, I tell ya. They called me right on time and the x-ray tech was all ready to go. After she did her thing, she took me straight to the room and Mr. Fleishman showed up real quick. Gotta say, I was pretty darn pleased with the whole experience.
The Rothman Institute is like a factory
The Rothman Institute is like a factory. The doctors don't really do any proper physical exams or use any diagnostic tools, except for X-rays, even if you bring your own MRIs or CT scans. What?! They just don't care and don't spend any real time asking or answering questions or listening to you as a patient who knows your own body. They really just don't care. They want to quickly get you in, signed up for treatment or surgery, and out. Next! They're the kind of Orthopedists that give this specialty a bad reputation. Some of them have major attitude problems and probably shouldn't have gone to medical school in the first place. Go to Penn, it's much better. 0 stars.
So, I went to my appointment at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute today
So, I went to my appointment at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute today. I arrived on time, but then they told me that the referral I had from the doctor at Jefferson urgent care wasn't acceptable. They said it had to come from my primary doctor instead. So, I had to go and get the referral from my primary physician. But guess what? When I came back, they turned me away because it was already past my appointment time. Can you believe it? It's so frustrating to go through all these hoops just to be turned away and told to reschedule for weeks later! I thought I would be taken care of today and that everything would be fine, but that wasn't the case at all. I don't understand why it matters who the referral came from, especially when I got it from the right person! They just kept giving me the runaround for 20 minutes and then finally said, "Sorry, the doctor is too busy to see you now." It's such a joke.
My dad went to Rothman in so much pain from his hip and Dr insisted it was coming from his back
My dad went to Rothman in so much pain from his hip and Dr insisted it was coming from his back. They had x-rays and MRI to show how damaged his hip was. They wanted us to go back to the back Dr and I told them it's his hip. The Dr assistant made an appt for 4 days after the conversation. In the mean time I had already made an appt to get another opinion. We went for the second opinion at a different facility and the Dr said it's definitely his hip and he needs it replaced ASAP. He was able to get him in quickly and he is now up and walking with no pain. After my experience with my father’s care at your facility, I would never recommend your services. The doctor and his staff clearly had no interest in accepting my father as a patient. But rather than being honest about their feelings they chose to push us aside with a ridiculous claim that it wasn’t his hip. Very disappointed that they allowed my 79 year old father to remain in pain for that long. Sincerely, Jennifer K
I had an experience with Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in February or March
I had an experience with Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in February or March . I had to pay around $700 out of my own pocket for a prosthetic ankle support and heel support. My insurance also covered a few hundred dollars. Recently, I received a bill for $47.51 from the date of service in March . I explained that I believe I already paid in full and that this was a long time ago. I also remembered a similar situation in 2020 where I received another bill, or at least I think it was from them. I called multiple times throughout the week to try and speak to someone, and finally, a lady from customer service told me that there was only a four-dollar and a couple cent balance, so the $47.51 bill was incorrect. I mentioned that this was a long time ago and it could be a billing error. She responded by saying that because of Covid, everything was slowed down. Come on, that's a [censored] excuse, especially with bills. Those motherfuckers didn't slow down at all during Covid, and this happened a year before Covid, so who should eat the $4.71, me or them? "F" you very much, Rothman, and whoever was on the phone. Oh, and do they just randomly send out $50 bills every year, hoping that someone will pay them? It smells like a scam!
I went to Rothman M*** and they said I needed a Sholder Replacement
I went to Rothman M and they said I needed a Sholder Replacement. The doctor was really good and gave me a lot of information. He said it would be an easy operation since he's done it thousands of times. I would be in and out the same day, which made me excited to finally end the non-stop pain. Everything was going well until I met the schedule person. She told me that if I had the procedure done as an outpatient, Medicare wouldn't cover the cost of the appliance (I also have BC&BS as secondary insurance). They said I had to go to a hospital in Bensalem PA for full coverage. I was really disappointed and left. With the virus going around, I wasn't happy about staying in a hospital. Later, I found out that the hospital only does orthopedics, which made me go back to the schedule person. She wasn't happy with me and made it clear. Now she wants me to sign a form saying that if for any reason insurance won't pay, I have to pay for it myself. I told her that if insurance doesn't pay, I can't afford it. I asked her about the charges and she said, "I don't know." I asked to see the supervisor and she replied, "She is busy." So once again, I left. My only question for Rothman is this: if you took your car to a shop and asked for the cost, and they said you would see the cost on your credit card that they put a hold on first, would you let them work on your car? I have lost all confidence in Rothman. Because of them, I am still in pain and have to start the whole process over again. I will also be contacting Medicare. I'm sure it would be cheaper as an outpatient.
Our experience with Rothman Orthopaedic Institute (RI) was terrible and sad
Our experience with Rothman Orthopaedic Institute (RI) was terrible and sad. Our very active 83-year-old mother went to their place to get help for her knee pain that was spreading to her upper thigh. They took an x-ray that showed arthritis with bone on bone in her knee and gave her an anti-inflammatory and physical therapy (PT). She went to PT five days after her visit to RI, but they refused to treat her because she was in extreme pain and could hardly walk. We went back to RI and saw the same Physician Assistant (PA) to explain that she couldn't walk or stand and needed PT. The PA gave her a different anti-inflammatory and injected her knee, but it didn't relieve her pain. In the third week, another PA prescribed an NSAID and ordered an MRI, but she couldn't do the MRI because she couldn't straighten her knee enough to get into the machine. In the fourth week, a Physician prescribed a steroid and once again ordered an MRI, but she couldn't do it. In our visit the following week, the Physician ordered a CT scan of her knee and femur, and we asked to include her back as well (he mentioned this in our previous visit). Before we could come back to discuss the scan results, she ended up in the hospital with a severe bleeding ulcer (caused by all the pain meds according to the hospital doctors) that almost took her life. She needed multiple procedures over a week to stop the bleeding. It's been five weeks now, and she is still trying to recover and get her life back. We believe that RI was negligent in their treatment because they didn't give her a proper diagnosis and kept giving her NSAIDs for four weeks. Another orthopedic group that examined her while she was in the hospital immediately recognized that her problem was caused by her back without needing any tests. Our experience with RI was upsetting, surprising, and emotionally devastating. We will never go to RI for any future treatment.
Place is the worst
Place is the worst. Treat patients like cattle and employees even worse. They don’t even have any more masks or alcohol wipes for employees. Said they met their supply quota for the year. Shuffle employees around unfairly. Often work with no break or lunch. Terrible place. Terrible managers, especially at Marlton Nj location
At the end of 2019 I went to Rothman Institute for extreme pain in my right hand & wrist
At the end of 2019 I went to Rothman Institute for extreme pain in my right hand & wrist. Saw Dr. Paul S who said it was a cyst on wrist & pinched nerve in the elbow. Gave me a steroid shot & told me to come back in 4 weeks. Steroid relieved pain for 1 day. Returned month later, was given another shot & told to return in 6 weeks. Unable to stand the pain for that long I called in February to schedule the surgery that he had said would get rid of the pain - release pinched nerve in right elbow even though the elbow did not hurt at all. Surgery completed in March . Almost a year later I still have pain in hand & wrist, but the pain in my elbow is excruciating & much worse than what I was to be treated for. Being "treated" by Dr. S was not just a waste of time & money, it has made my pain so much worse. Yesterday I received a request to donate money to Rothman to "honor my physician in celebration of National Doctor's Day". This has to be a joke & is in poor taste. Too bad I had to give him even one star because he deserves none. I sent for & paid for a copy of my record with him. There were many mistakes in it. The one I can recall is that my height is given as 60" (5 feet). I am 5'9". I shredded it. Just more wasted money.

I've been trying to get Rothman Orthopedics to send me a bill for the services I received in May
I've been trying to get Rothman Orthopedics to send me a bill for the services I received in May . I've explained that I need a copy of the invoice before my HSA provider can pay it. I've talked to a few reps who don't know how to print it or say it will be mailed next week. I've been trying to get my bill since June 24th. No amount of calls or emails is fixing my problem. Two years ago, they did the same thing and billed me over a year later, so my HSA provider wouldn't cover it because it was past the claim submission time frame. I ended up paying for the service out of my own pocket. I'm trying to avoid the same situation. I don't understand why it's so complicated, I just want to pay my bill! Ignoring me won't work. Please help.
I went to Rothman Institute in Royersford to get help for my hand pain
I went to Rothman Institute in Royersford to get help for my hand pain. After my visit, the doctor sent me to see an orthotic employee for a wrist splint. When the employee showed me the splint, I told them I didn't need it because I already had a similar one at home. So, I left without taking the splint. However, they still charged me $80.99 for it. I called multiple times, and they said they would talk to the orthotic person and base the outcome on what they remembered. I didn't hear anything for several months until last week when I received the bill again. I don't have time to keep calling and explaining my story without making any progress. I refuse to pay for a splint that I never received. Moreover, they should refund *** for $13.01 because *** is paying for something I never got.

I didn't have insurance and needed surgery
I didn't have insurance and needed surgery. Rothman Orthopedics gave me all the info about the fees I had to pay before the surgery. I talked to the Rothman financial counselor and they said I wouldn't owe anything else after paying those fees. I agreed and paid everything upfront and had the surgery. But then I started getting bills from different providers that Rothman Orthopedics used, and the cost of the surgery got way higher. Nobody at Rothman told me they would use other providers who would send me bills, so they didn't tell me the real cost of the surgery. If I had known it would be so much more, I wouldn't have done the surgery at Rothman. Now these bills are a big financial burden, especially during this pandemic.
I've been having problems accessing my patient portal at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute
I've been having problems accessing my patient portal at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. I have a doctor's appointment next Thursday, May 26th, and I wanted to fill out my medical information beforehand. I think I was able to complete it, but I'm not entirely sure. Whenever I try to sign into my portal, I keep getting error messages of all kinds. I reached out to Rachel S and Sharise W, but they couldn't help me. They told me to leave a message for Mary Kate, the department manager, who is supposed to be good at returning calls. Unfortunately, she didn't get back to me. I also tried to contact Amanda B, but she hasn't returned my call or email either. This whole experience has been frustrating. I'm spending a lot of time on the phone and emailing, but I'm not making any progress in accessing my patient portal. They even warned me that I might get locked out.
The employee at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute was kinda weird and didn't follow normal business stuff or HIPAA rules
The employee at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute was kinda weird and didn't follow normal business stuff or HIPAA rules. The receptionist was short with me and blabbed my personal info out loud. I told them I didn't like how she talked to me. They didn't give me any papers to remind me of what the doctor said about what to do next when I left. So, I called the 800 number and made another appointment. They called me back and said they gave my message to the wrong office. They're downtown and I gotta call the right office. I told them that's their job, I don't have a phone number for that. And then she said she didn't like my attitude! Can you believe it? So, I called the 800 number again and the lady was really nice and said sorry for how I was treated. Then, an employee turned it around and "complained" that I was rude! The doctor took the employee's side. Today, the office manager, ***, called me and said the doctor won't treat me anymore and that I refused my papers! Seriously? Meanwhile, I can't get a CD with my X-rays from their office. I need those X-rays on a CD that they took. I'll keep trying to get it. I want something for all the time and trouble I went through at their crappy office. This place is a total scam. The doctor gave me bad advice and took X-rays.
Dr. Homyar K***, Rothman Institute Marlton, 999 RT 73 NORTH, SUITE 401, MARLTON, NJ 08053
Dr. Homyar K, Rothman Institute Marlton, 999 RT 73 NORTH, SUITE 401, MARLTON, NJ 08053. I paid $444.44, through my former insurance provider, for a expensive pair of arch supports. I got a PAID receipt from Rothman. But then, social distancing and quarantine happened, and time went by. After ten weeks, the foot person won't give me my stuff without an office visit just to show me how to put them in my shoes (that's what I think). I don't know what they'll tell me, but I'm sure it won't take more than two to five minutes. Putting arch supports in shoes can't be that complicated. It's not like it's a secret or anything. They never even mentioned my tendonitis or gave me any tips for pain relief. And now they want to charge me a lot for a medical office visit, even though it's just for this. Plus, I'm worried about COVID-19 and they're wasting my time. I don't think I, my insurance, or Medicare will get their money's worth. I told them they're not responsible for any future problems, as long as the arch supports are in good condition when they're delivered. I don't expect them to be defective or used. But who knows? I've noticed that medical offices want you to come back every three months now, for some reason. I sent an email expressing my concerns about COVID-19, but they suggested a phone call instead. I told them I don't want anything to do with them anymore because I think their treatments are just a scam. I found out about the tendonitis diagnosis from the receipt I got from Rothman, and I don't think it needed $300.00 worth of wraps on my feet and legs. The arch supports are probably not the solution either. I've tried them before and they only made things worse. I have to admit, I was desperate when I agreed to get them. I had been in a lot of pain for over six months. I was willing to try anything, even if it was some kind of magic or fake cure.
