Subprime loans
Hello,
My name is Willie T. Jones (Santander #2949119). I am 74 years old and am a victim of your predatory lending practices and high-interest rate. I'm on a fixed income of $1100 a month but you gave me a $656 month truck note that I'm currently behind on. Not to mention, you NEVER even looked at my bank statements, income, job description (which I have none) to approve me for this loan in the first place. I feel like you took advantage of me as a senior citizen and I NEED total loan forgiveness NOW.
Thank you,
Ms. Willie T. Jones

Predatory lending victim
I was contacted by a dealership by referral and I was told that I can come and look at a vehicle and I will automatically be approved because they have a department at the dealership that is connected in with Santander. I told the salesman I filed bankruptcy earlier that year May 2014 and I did not have the downpayment. He said it will be ok I just have to make sure I give him the deposit in 14 days. I asked why my interest rate was over 23% percent and he said because of no qualifying requirement for this special loan with bad credit. I was in a desperate situation and had no choice but to purchase a car with my bad credit. I have had my car reprocessed twice in 4 years of financing the vehicle and paid so much money to get the car back.in August 2018 my car was totaled out and my insurance paid the car off for over 5500.00 dollars and Santander said I still have a balance of $14, 000+ and I said to them you got to be kidding me after paying for my car for 4 years I owe more that I originally purchased the car for $14, 000.00 dollars. Also, I was told that I purchase an additional warranty on the car when I purchase and I did not do that because the car came with a warranty up to 100, 000 miles and at that time the car only had 53, 000 miles on it. I was stuck with a balance and I told them I could not afford to keep paying on this vehicle at 450.00 a month and ask could they work with me because I would never be able to get out of this bad loan. I was told no by the president of the company and I have no choice but to walk away. The car charged off in 2018 and on May 11, 2020, I paid Santander $ 4, 300.00 dollars to settle the debt. I am appalled how I stressed over the month of may because on may 14, 2020 Santander reported a new charge off on my credit report and it has caused my fico score to drop over 70 points. After reading this article today to realize I was a victim of predatory loan from Santander I would like the money I paid on May 14, 2020, and the money my insurance company paid them for a total estimated at $9800.00 + and all the extra interest that I was charged, and have that bad loan removed from my credit report.

Auto loan
I was supposed to be a cosigner on a 2019 chevy colorado. Instead, it is in my name and my income is only 797 a month after house payment, I only have 150 left a month. If something happens to my husband, there is no way I can pay this loan. I was told that I would have to be a cosigner because my credit score was better than his. There is a higher interest rate than I have ever had on a vehicle that was this high. I plan to seek an attorney to sue if nothing is done. Santander is waiting for us to default
Class action lawsuit - poor customer service and unethical practices
I am very disappointed with this company and their poor customer service. I have been with this company since October 2015, received an auto loan for a 2015 Kia Forte. We are now on 06/01/2020 and my auto loan is still at over $11,000, with a large principle rate. I have made timely payments of over 10,000 yet still owe a large amount after over 3.5 years. I entered the auto loan with an over 4 percent interest rate resulting in monthly auto loan payments of $500. I was informed by Santander that my monthly loan payment amounts would decrease after consecutive monthly payments. It appears, every other month there are additional fees. I called to discuss lowered payments due to financial hardships and was not informed of supportive options. During the call, I experienced the worst customer service ever and the call was ended abruptly by Santander staff. On my second call regarding financial hardship support, I was offered the resolution of making a late payment then calling customer support and requesting late fees are removed, which would require management approval and 14 day processing. This was the most frustrating call and I was forced to make the late payment as well as pay the late fee (guess I did not get approved). I feel trapped in my auto loan!
Car loan obtained
II am asking to be put in this list for The law suit against Santander consumer Usa. I relocated to Houston, Texas in 2013. I was in need of a car and had subprime credit. Went to Monday Chevrolet dealer said they had program for people with less than perfect t credit. I was in desperate need of a car to get back and forth to work. Advised the seller that it would be a sacrifice but I could pay no more than $400.00 per month. That dealership ran so many hard credit request that I did not know at the time. Later that day he called and stated you can come and get the car but it won't be the used car you chose but a new car that is the I my way they will finance you. I had tried other options but because of the many hard credit checks done by this dealer no one else wanted to help. The car was nice list price was 26k I believe. Not to make long story short I am still paying for the same car struggling since day one because instead of the $400.00 per month note I have been paying $623.00 per month since 04/2013 and I still owe over 21k for a car I have already paid $54223.00 on no one will give me a trade because of back-end and can't refinance for amount owed because of blue book value. What a cool you probably say because when it is all said an done I will have paid over 80k for a car a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. Being poor is a real pain
Unethical behavior/high interest rate
I have a Kia Optima that I purchased at Car Max and it was financed through Santander Consumer USA. My down payment was substantial and I have had the vehicle since 2017. The car was $15, 000 and my balance is still $11, 000. Because of the high interest rate I will never pay them off and I am a disabled 66 year old who is a cancer survivor. Please forward my information to the appropriate personnel to join the class action lawsuit. Also my car has been repo once and I borrowed more money to get it back. Thanks for your assistance. I'm not sure if the category is correct below (Auto Insurance & Loan). My complaint is the loan. I will admit I have had problems making my car payment on time because of the high payment and I am on a fixed income but I struggle to pay.
Car loan
I purchased a 2012 Lexus SUV in 2013. The sale price was way too high, cant remember, but it has been 6 years since I have had this car and I still owe 20, 000+ on the car. My interested rate is almost 80%. I have been unable to keep up with the $753.00 payments. I called to ask them if they could refinance, they said they don't refinance, I would have to speak to another loan company. My credit was terrible and they still approved my loan; I appreciate that, but I don't appreciate how much interested I am being charged because of my credit. I am 61 and will be retiring soon, and will still have a car note of $753.00.
Made my life hell
Santander Consumer made my life a living hell first off I co sign for my daughter a car from CarMax so they introduces me to Santander that was the worse day of my life from that day its been hell so my daughter and I have had this car for 5years and still the price didn't never moved she was in college at the time and working we had a bad storm here in Houston Texas I mean a very bad flood it was hurricane Harvey in 2017 that was really when everybody needed help and couldn't get any help from Santander consumer USA at all we had been making payments on this car and still the price never moved they always told us it was the interest that we were paying on the car we maybe been behind maybe a mouth by the car being in my name I am liable for the car just as much responsible as my daughter so I have to let my credit cards go lacking trying to help my daughter get caught up with this vehicle trying not to get a repossession on my credit went very bad so we call to ask them for help they told us if we don't make a payment by such an such date the car will be on the repossession list so we called up family members for help we got the money together to pay so the very next day they came and took the car i just couldn't get no help from anyone my daughter lost her job she went into a deep depression we felt like we had been through a carwash oh but GOD my daughter saw something on the news about this Santander USA and called me and this is why I am writing we really need your help us out we are still suffering from all of this on our credit so we are asking for your help please... sign Ms. Lashawn Richardson email [protected]@gmail.com Phone [protected]
Financing
Satander is the finance company that McCarty used to finance my car. My credit was not good therefore I had to accept the terms of the contract. All of the terms that I requested was denied. The terms of the contract was high. I asked to try to refinance a better term of the vehicle contract however I was given the answer of No. Therefore, I could not get out of the Loan.

I co-signed as I was told for my son turns out my name is on the loan first. He has been making payments since 2007 and his principal hasn't hardly budged. They have made harassing phone calls and have discussed my personal finances with my fiancé which is illegal. How can I join the class action lawsuit? 5 years of payments on a used car and principal hasn't budged this has to be more then the percentage were were told at the dealership. I don't understand how Santander is even still in business! It's disgusting how they treat their customers! Finally my son and I filed bankruptcy because the principle was still at the rate it was when we first signed for the autos load.
Targeted for repo
I was charged 545 a month for a nissan juke and was 30 days behind on one oayment and the took mybcar with everything in it and resold it and saidbi owe 9, 000 on it but I beleive they knew I woukd defauky is whybthey charges me so much interest where ibwas paying over 40, 000 for a nissan juke paying 545 a month with a baby and ibwas only one working now it haunts my credit because I cant afford to oay it off and I believe being a new family they should have gave me help options instead of taking my car. Im from wv and finance through texasbibwanted a 19000 dollar subaru but was td they wouldnt finance it to us only the juke whoch was for 38000 and it was our first new car we bought so they knew what they were doing
Service with billing and repossession
I purchased my car in 2015 for around 12, 000 and was financed through santander.in 5 years my balance has only dropped about 4, 000 even thought my car note is around $400 a month. Then this year I became sick and couldn't work and they were supposed to be working with me on my loan payments but instead they repossessed my car without any notice. I had to pay almost 3, 000 to get it back and my current balance owe was supposed to be $0 after the repossession. A few weeks after getting my car back I received a bill stating that my current bill due was 1, 000. I called and asked and they told me that it was because of fees but when I paid the repossession I was told that all the fees were included in that amount. Then my payoff balance became over 7, 000. At this rate I will never be able to pay this car off. The car is over 8 years old and not even worth over 7000 and not to mention they have ruined my credit but reporting me as late payment even when I was current.
Repo car
This company repo my car and than sold my loan without my knowledge or permission. After paying Jefferson Capital LLC off, they refused to remove it from credit report although Jefferson Capital sent them paperwork saying it was paid off. Now they have class action suit out against them for giving people bad loans when they knew they would probably default on the loan and I am one of them.
Repossession
I tried to make payment arrangements with them. I got behind because my mother was very sick and she needed me. At there time they repossessed my vehicle was Sept 30th 2019 in pikeville Kentucky hospital sitting with my mother while she passed so they left me stranded in Kentucky while I lost my mother and no way back home to Ohio. Then they tried to sue my insurance company for the windshield that wasn't busted and the stereo system busted. After they had already sold the car for a little over a thousand dollars. Then they continued contacting me after they reported my vehicle. Thank u for listening christine Smith [protected]
Title of my paid off car
I paid off my used car several years ago and contacted Santander (lender) for them to mail me my title. They said I had to pay them $$ to have them send it to me...Why must I pay for something that is OWED to me?
Applying payment practices
On January 31, 2020, I was in an car accident. I was not at fault. I did my due diligence. On February 19, 2020, I receive documentation that show my account was paid in full. I did not have any fees owed at that time. My monthly payment were not due until the 26th or the 27th of each month. Three months afterwards I still get monthly statements.

I purchased a vehicle from car max june of 2016. I was alone I have never bought a car without another person present and have never done the talking. My credit score was 630. I was given 2 offers, one of them was from santander consumer us. The car was 21000. The offer from santander was 24% interest rate for 6 years, the second offer was worse. I was going to turn them both down. Jose, the salesman, said that it was my credit score and I wasn't going to find much different elsewhere. He said that car max had a customer "buyback program". That I could buy the car, make payments on it for a year which would bring my score up and then in a year when I brought the car back, car max would buy my car back from me and get me into a new vehicle with a lower interest rate. That is exactly how it was explained to me. I thought that a year wasn't too long to commit to the payment and I accepted the loan. The only reason I took the loan was because of what I was told and because it was my understanding that it would only be a year. I registered to access my account with santander online a month later to make my first payment. One I got through providing my information and signed on, the very first page showed my mothers name. Since my mother was not on the loan, I was confused. I clicked on the account and was even more confused. It was for a car loan my mother had co signed on back in 2006.in 2009 I lost my job and defaulted on the payment so my mom told me to just give the car back. Santander wasn't the bank that financed that car. It was hsbc. I thought maybe I was mistaken so I called my mom and she said I was correct, that it was hsbc. I asked if she ever received anything about a merge with santander and she said she had not been contacted on the loan since 2010/2011 and had never heard of a santander in relation to that loan. I went on the internet to see if there was a company merger between santander and hsbc and found out that shortly after I lost the car in 2009, santander bought a lot of hsbc's auto loan debt. I called my mom back and asked her if she ever received a notice about the loan debt going to santander. She said she never heard of the company, never received a notice and never dealt with anyone but hsbc. I started to question if my interest rate was that high based on that debt, not just my credit score. It was concerning because I would have never signed the papers if I was aware of that at the time I entered the agreement, regardless of the buyback program. I would have been too suspicious about the high interest rate being an attempt to collect on an old debt and I would have walked away. So I immediately called carmaxx and explained the situation. I asked if there was anything I could do because that should have been something I was told. The manager on the phone said there was nothing that could be donesince it was already a month. I asked her if the buy back program took cars before the 12 months if the credit score was improved. She asked what I was talking about and I explained what jose told me. She said that they didn't have a "buy-back" program. That I could always "trade-in" my car, or at any other dealer, but a year would probably be too soon because the car would be upside down on the existing loan. I was pissed. I know what a trade-is and I know how they work. It is not what he said because had he explained it as a trade in I would have known it would have been upside down. He explained it like it was a program exclusive to carmax customers that my loan was going to be bought back and I was going to be put into another car with a lower interest rate. My comprehension is above average, i'm not slow. I sell insurance for a living so I deal with agreements all the time. I was lied to. And i'm sure I am not the only person. So I called santander.. Alot, I have the audio recordings of these calls, some of them more than 1/2 an hour long. I was transferred to the office of the president division and talk to them a lot. A waste of time. I stopped paying on it. Then around may I spoke with a lady who said that the car was charged off but that I could sign off to have the debt reduced to 14k I just had to pay 200 up front and then the lowered monthly payments. I agreed solely because of the debt reduction I was over dealing with the car. I was pregnant at the time and I was hospitalized around the time of that agreement, I spent the rest of my pregnancy sick and lost my son a week before my due date in october of 2018. I had a hard time getting past that, was diagnosed with clinical depression and ptsd as a result and the car was the least of my concerns. I havent heard from santander, noone has come for the car, I still have it but havent driven it in 2 years, its not even registered. I'm a single mother. The loan has destroyed my credit. I wasn't able to get help or credit I needed to get through the worst thing I have ever had to go through. The loan has caused a domino affect of problems the damage it's caused has been harmful. Its prevented me from keeping my head about water. They are a bank it would have been nothing for them to do the right thing. So now I don't know what to do. I'm an independant contractor and cant work because of the shutdown and havent been able to get approval on the loans and my unemployment claim was denied. From what I have seen around the internet, they havent been a very good company to a lot of people and they need to stop preying on people who are living paycheck to paycheck. I don't sell products that I don't believe in and I don't think money is worth more than the value of my word.
Unfair credit of payments, stealing or payments not cumming off, overcharging
These people are screwing hard working Americans daily. I bought a car in April 2019 and today after 9 payments of nearly 450.00 a month they have nurve to tell me I owe more now than what my contract started. Started contract in April 2019for a whopping 17, 330.00 and now after 9 payments of nearly 450.00 a month they told me today I owe over 18, 000.00. Now how the f**k is that possible?. Where the hell and what the hell did the nearly 4, 000 go to? F**k this low life [censored] company. Don't use these con artist.
