Coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics
As a family including a disabled member, the paralympics are of great interest. But the coverage is atrocious.
There seems to be a lot of repetitive clips about our paralympians but very little attention to their live performances.
The commentators are mildly patronising and rarely seem to have much knowledge regarding the disabilities they are reporting on.
There are repeats of interviews with our medal winners but not a lot of focus on their actual competition.
In the last hour I have watched possibly 20 minutes of actual competition and 40 of ads and filler material.
This is disgraceful and insulting to both the athletes and the viewers. I am incredibly disappointed.
Desired outcome: Better coverage of the paralympics
Tokyo Paralympics 2000 coverage
Terrible Commentators …so boring, waffling….
No enthusiasm from them …….yawn
# Just Talking Heads #
7Plus screen layout on my Smart TV …messy & confusing
2000 Olympic Coverage/Layout a thousand times better than Paralympics - the commentators were knowledgeable, enthusiastic & inspired excitement
Grateful for coverage…..but commentators bad…..I'm watching paint drying with the presentation on TV
Desired outcome: Replace Commentators who know what their job is
Better Homes and Gardens
Huge issue over what is a well structured, informative and entertaining show. The issue I refer to is the intrusive, unnecessary background music.
The show is not the only one at fault. It happens across all Lifetstyle, Documentaries programmes on all Channels.
Is there a reason for this?, as I would love an answer.
Show some forethought Channel Seven and break free of this intrusion in what is otherwise a great show and bring back higher viewer audience s as I can only last for a short time, then resort to switching to a free to air or streaming channel for Friday night entertainment. Especially through the current lockdown in NSW.
Regards
Paul
Desired outcome: Very low background music, none at all or at least make it enjoyable for the wider audience.
Same advert on the voice every break
It's an observation, every break on the playback of the voice plays the same two adverts every time. It's really disturbing that it's always the same two adverts. One cannot stop them . Can u please get some creativity. It's annoying . I will be writing to your two advertisers to tell them I will never use their products or see there movie it has annoyed me that much. GET A LIFE BECOME CREATIVE SHOE DIFFERENT ADVERTS ESPECIALLY NOT THE RESPECT FILM . Wow so bad
Olympic closing ceremony
You are a joke. Honestly putting to Voice on in Perth instead of closing ceremony live. You don't deserve the broadcast rights.
Olympic Athletes
Can someone please tell me if Athletes are allowed to SPIT on the track before they race . I just watched it happen again with a black Canadian in the 200 metre final . DISGUSTING .
Desired outcome: An Answer Please
Olympic games
thanks for having an app 7+ your coverage on free to air was the worst l have ever watched, l do not have a smart tv so l couldn't watch any other sports other what you were showing so thanks l don't think l watch 7 anymore.
kim from the rat.
Olympic games commentary
Andrew Gaze knocking Republican Ted Cruz, while commentating about Aust v Cuba boxing. We don't care about his political views, very unprofessional.
His comments were nothing about boxing or that bout.
Desired outcome: Get rid of the lefty idiot.
Ads for sas
Like many Australians, I am enjoying the broadcast of the Olympics. However my enjoyment is being marred by the ads for the upcoming SAS program. The toxic masculinity on display isn't just unpleasant; it's triggering and distressing. I imagine that many people would share my view. Children who have been exposed to domestic violence might be particularly vulnerable. Inflicting these ads on broader audiences is unacceptable.
Desired outcome: Removal of the ads.
I agree with the last review. This SAS australia ad is on alot and I mean ALOT, enough with the constant ad . That series should be banned permanently.
I don’t watch most TV Reality Shows…they show anger, confrontation & stupid humans - not everyone finds aggression informative & enlightening.
SAS Australia
I am extremely disappointed to find Channel 7 (which is a channel I generally support) is planning to screen the above program. With all the emphasis on mental health issues in the past few years it seems to me to be wrong to be promoting this show. It puts unreal pressure on people and tends to glorify humiliating contestants. Bullying is also not acceptable.
Desired outcome: Withdraw or modify the program.
7mate olympics coverage
Why does the Equestrian coverage say "Live and Free" when it's a replay of an earlier event? I want to know what is live and what is not.
Also, why do you link CH7 complaints to a stupid online chat service that charges $5 to submit a complaint? WTF?
This paragraph, and the following paragraph, is included simply because I am unable to lodge this complaint due to it begin less than 350 characters long.
It's a simple issue that should take a simple person a small amount of time to consider and reply to in an adequate fashion, however you seem to have made the actual process of making any kind of complaint so damn difficult that most people would simply give up and forget about it.
However, I am now much angrier than I was originally and now demand an adequate response to my complaint, which now also includes the fact that you make it so difficult to complain.
Why would you possibly do this? I am confounded and confused, but mainly now agitated and demand a response because you forced me to expound this complaint unnecessarily.
Mitch, Australia.

Desired outcome: Be honest when you replay coverage instead of "Live and Free"
CLOSING CEREMONY
WILL SOMEONE TELL THE PRATTLING COMMENTATIRS TO SHUT UP!
THEY TALKED THROUGHOUT THE OPENING CEREMONY, RUINING IT.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT THEM!
WE DON'T NEED [censored]IC EXPLANATIONS, GOSSIP OR STATEMENTS OF THE BLEEDING OBVIOUS!
TALKING THROUGH AN ARTIST'S SONG OR OTHER PRESENTATION IS ESPECIALLY RUDE IN JAPANESE CULTURE.
THANKS FOR RUINING THE EXPERIENCE YET AGAIN 7!
Whatever that show is ..I turn it off and stream international...
Your television has been the best ever. Thank you for 95% excellence!
Anna Meers, faithful Phil Liggett, thank God you did not pick up SBS Matt Keenan. You are to be congratulated.! The Fox family connection, Liesel stunning..Just great! Ian needs higher volume, but you are to be championed in every respect but one. Can't wait for Bruce and whomever you have identified to also comment on the track and field. Never better!
But whomever is the EP for that late night rubbish should be castigated big time and sent packing to 2GB or Sky.
Kerry Stokes..do you really need to dumb down TV so much...let Rupert do that...the way they treat that ladies input is deplorable. They are woeful, even vomitous. Gaze might be salvaged, though I doubt it... but the other fellow makes me turn off the TV every time after the vomit. The worst part about it is they are not fair dinkum, both know that they can provide a better discourse, but do you really care about viewer intellect?/sensitivity?
You have just about got it right, but those drongos cost you gold. Let us aspire with our heroes, don't steer us downwards towards just grunting through that crap mode, in these times.
You really should have stumped the bucks for Roy and HG if you wanted that review irreverence done well to the quality that you have provided throughout...best ever..
Sorry.
Desired outcome: Pull those tuggers off.
So calling ROC “Russia”
Russia was banned from competing in the Olympics due to major doping concerns, hence them being represented as ROC. Yet, the commentators CONTINUOUSLY refer to ROC as Russia. As such, it undermines and trivialises the ban on Russia and it's contrary to the stipulations for ROC competitors (which is NOT referring to them as representing Russia). Channel 7 commentators may want to start referring to ROC competitors appropriately, rather than ignoring the international ban on the country.
Desired outcome: Change how ROC competitors are referred to.
Olympics
Ok so I'm watching the Olympics partially the swimming races. You have great insight from Ian Thorpe but the racing commentary is hopeless. You have a commentator Basel who calls sport like football so ok but you have Bruce who has horse racing calling background. Swimming races only have 8 people horses have more in the field. Basel is to slow to commentate and cover the everyone in the race. Bruce is quicker and then Ian can add more value supporting Bruces call. Can you please reconsider who is calling these significant races please.
Desired outcome: Let Bruce call the races
Ian Thorpe……… is so knowledgeable - he knows more about swimming past & present than anyone on the Planet.
He had been captivated with his knowledge.
He is softly spoken, next time….Microphone Volume ‘Up’.
Great to see someone love their job …
Sportspeople are the best at commentating about their current or past Sport…
Leisal Jones ( brilliant, funny & bubbly)
I thought Anna Meers would have her baby on TV ….she was so enthusiastic about her Sport, she has a great sense of humour - her enthusiasm is contagious.
Former competitors bring so much to commentating, ……they have been there, done that !
Tokyo Olympic Swimming Commentator Introduction
Please explain why the onscreen information introduces Ian Thorpe as "5 time Olympic Gold Medallist" and Leisel Jones as "4 time Olympian"? Why aren't Leisel's Gold medals mentioned? It made me query whether she'd won any medals at all. And of course she has - 3 gold, 5 silver & 1 bronze.
Surely there should be consistency? Either mention everyone's gold medals or no ones.
Desired outcome: Equality
Agreed ….every Australian Olympian should have all their Medals mentioned. I loved the good old days in the [protected]’s. The Australian Competitors were more normal when they spoke to the media - we felt we knew them personally….those days are gone. They are protected? from the Media…we have lost touch with the true person….they just get in do their job & that’s it. Some get to say a couple of words & that’s it…..sad.
Olympics commentator offensive
The commentators when referring to North Macedonia kept referring to the nationality as North Macedonian. This is incorrect according to the Prespa treaty. Where nationality should be referred to as Macedonian. This is highly offensive and needs to be fixed.
Desired outcome: Refer to nationality as Macedonian not North Macedonian
Olympic coverage
For God's sake Channel 7, tell your swimming commentators to shut up when the Pool Commentator is announcing the Medal Winners. To talk over the top of the Pool Announcer is grossly ignorant, annoying & an insult to the athletes.
A picture tells 1000 words ! We are not watching to listen to Thorpe & Co.'s drivel.
Thorpe et al should know better.
Thank you
Colin Leadle
Desired outcome: educate your swimming commentators
Ian is told when to speak, where to stand & when to move & watch which Camera has the Light on by the Floor Manager.
You should go to a Live TV Show & watch how it’s done….it is full on, stressful
Ian has no control over the running of the Show ( he is a Guest) Channel 7/Crew run the show…..
Repetition of the same episodes over and over
To whom it may concern,
I wish to lodge a complaint regarding the continuous repetition of your programming.
Specifically regarding all Gordon Ramsay TV Series.
We enjoy watching all of the different Gordon Ramsay shows but find every time we tune in, it's the same old selection that was played only a few weeks previously.
Why does this happen when there are several spin offs, with multiple seasons?
We request that the programmers look into this and begin to branch out and start showing ones that haven't been aired on channel 76 before.
Thankyou for your time and I look forward to having a response to my email.
Kind regards
Sarah Trent

Desired outcome: Contact to advise why it happens and an outcome.
I agree with Sarah Trent and add my complaint and that is we are seeing the same movies at least 3 times a week and more times over a 2 week period. For example Jersey Boys was on last weekend then again during the week Tues or Wed, then on 30/7/21 chn 76 last night 11.25 pm and now it's on again 31/7/21 chn 76 2.10pm. And, I am pretty sure it was also on last week. This is happening to many movies. You just keep repeating the same one. Come on! There are many movies out there you could be showing and not repeating. Oh and cant forget the repetition of the Fast and Furious franchise. So sick to death of this. You want to keep FTA going and your jobs then I suggest, you get your act together. One more thing, your coverage of the olympics could be better. You advertise that you have multiple channels for coverage showing different sports but we cannot get the other channels and they too, are mostly repetition of coverage shown n 7 chan 7. Thanks for reading this letter and hope to receive a real response from you and not just an auto response.

innapropriate commentary during Olympic coverage
Friday 23rd July 2021 Channel 7 Olympic coverage 8:30 to 9 pm. Bruce McAvaney mentioned " the stolen generation " when conversing with the family of one of the athletes representing Australians. I find this mention of socially sensitive and controversial issues offensive, and an attempt at pushing an agenda, during a sporting event wrongful and divisive to the welfare of ALL Australians. There is a time and place for discussion & mention of social problems, behavior & culturally / socially / politically motivated issues. The Olympics and sporting events in general should not be a public platform to be used as a political football. Staff at channel 7 should not be sowing the seeds of division and dissent during sporting event coverage.
Desired outcome: change in unprofessional behavior & acknowledgement of inappropriateness
I agree 1 million % - PC has gone crazy……..some Australian competitors did hold up the Aboriginal Flag & the Australian Flag.
Every Country held up their ‘True Flag’ of the Country they represented.
Australia was the only Country that had 2 Flags…
My Grandfather was part Aboriginal (his Mother).
There is 2 sides to every story - he told me both.
I don’t understand Australia is …..
1 Country = 1 Flag
Big Brother VIP
Whereas I appreciate your decision to drop the execrable Katie Hopkins from your ‘Big Brother VIP' programme, in the light of excessive negative publicity (as in the type of excess not at all good for generating ratings or for your share price) I would like to express my personal objection that your BB producers /network would:
a. Consider this racist attention-seeking disgraced TV ‘personality' to be even an ‘important' person let alone a ‘very important' one in the first place;
b. Countenance giving her any soapbox to spout her ugly self-serving views;
c. Seek to play upon her disgusting callow and offensive profile to try to generate ‘positive controversy' - therefore ratings - therefore advertising revenue - for your show;
d. Exploit whatever privilege/favours/financial power you have to enable this person to jump the visa queue past tens of thousands of legitimately worthy visa-seekers.
Good luck in justifying all of this to your conscience(s).
Yours
Dr David Wignall
Melbourne.
