Seven West Media / Channel 7 Prime 7 ad

Hi there

Firstly I would to say I enjoy viewing 7 as a family.

This morning we were watching American Pickers on your app. An ad for 7 prime advertising the waterside Sydney property market came on with a young man expressing himself through blaspheme, saying 'Jesus Christ'.

I do like the freedom of speech that Australia enjoys, however my wife and I were shocked at this. Our forefathers always gave us a clip under the ear for these kind of words, including our schoolteachers. I am not even suggesting you take this off air, I am suggesting however you do some research into what offends the mostly Christian Australia, including looking into what I believe biblically is a sin in the eyes of the God of the bible.

This email may help you, maybe cruel to be kind, however I muted the ad so to not have my 3 and almost 6 year old hear this.

Thank you
Mark & Jenny

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Why is all the channel 7 stations

Why are all channel 7 station pixellating, this has been ongoing for well over three days we do not have any issues with the other stations which is very disappointing. It appears to be all over the wheat belt region as I have spoken to other people and they have had the same issue.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Channel 7 perth news 6pm 12 july 2020

There was a news article on the 6pm need with regards to the Channel 7 investigation into Regis Aged Care Nedlands.
This report made mention of a specific staff member and his name in relation to one offence, but the way it was reported it appeared that he was responsible for all the instances of alleged abuse.
Also I do not understand why his image and name was used when he was not charged with any offence. This person will now not be able to gain employment in any organisation.
I am distressed that this person's identity was released to give the report some relevance without any thought on how it will affect this person's life and career.
This could happen to any of us.
He was not charged with any offence so how are you able to release his image or name.
It is disgraceful!

Desired outcome: A public apology

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Channel 7 and channel 7 sport

It's not a complaint rather a question : why is it that the female presenters, news sport and general feel like it's a beauty contest. It appears each one has to outdo the other. It's not about the news, it appears it's about their clothes, make up and hair styles. I am watching football on Sunday afternoon 4th July, and the female is wearing a black top with one shoulder bare. Is it really necessary. What ever happened to just old fashion news and updates. etc.

So very very true - the female Newsreaders is an ‘Australian Pageant’ on TV
Most of the women have terrible speaking voices (chalk on a blackboard) - they need voice training.
Personally I prefer male Newsreaders
More professional & we don’t have to suffer their shrill, annoying voices.
PS I’m a female

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Seven Nightly News Tasmania

Watching the news this evening 30/07/21 I was confronted by images of sexual innuendo of male dancers displaying sexual moves. Not only is this NOT news it shows discrimination and the belittling of men. I'm sure if it was a female dance group doing the same thing there would be an uproar by female patrons. So why should I be exposed to such a thing. I thought we are trying to achieve equality!

Desired outcome: Acknowledging issue

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Seven Sydney news airs false covid information in TV news report

During the 6pm news last night, 28 June 2021, Seen news aired a report on the covid lockdown in Sydney with a focus on non essential retail shops being open. During that report, the claim was made that there was no restriction on leaving home for non essential shopping. To support this, a false document was shown purporting to be a statement from the NSW government listing the four acceptable reasons for leaving home. That document omitted the word "essential" and claimed the government permitted leaving home for "anything you want".
This will create a false belief among Sydney residents and undermines the purpose of the lockdown.

Desired outcome: On air correction

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Racist advertising of a disinfectant product which seemed to be glen 20

An advertisement aired on Channel Seven yesterday 15 June 2021, shortly after the Govt. Covid 19 announcements, during the show "Maternal Instinct" which was running late due to the announcement. The advertisement involved a scene on a bus, which seemed to be for the disinfectant Glen-20. The advertisement began with a Polynesian male, a male of colour, around 30 plus years, standing up to move out of his bus seat and wiping his brow as if he was hot, and then he left the bus, vacating the seat. The next shot was of a white male and what seemed to be a boy depicting his white son, with the white male producing a disinfectant wipe, where he proceeded to wipe the pole and the bus bell, obviously where the male of colour had been sitting. Then, next, the adult white male produced a spray can of the same disinfectant spray and proceeded to spray the seat where the male of color had been sitting. Then the advertisement ended. I am complaining vehemently that this is a highly bizarre advertisement and highly inappropriate as it depicts a person of colour as unhygienic or dirty with a white male and white child cleaning and spraying the area he's just vacated. Who in their right mind shows media such as this, in this day and age and gets away with it? How is it that in 2021 we allow this highly racist and denigrating advertising? It's clear that the powers that be in this organization urgently need some help and training. Or is it just that they are so used to doing these types of actions with impunity because they think they're untouchable? I'd like you to outline the actions you're going to take as to exactly what you are going to do about this.

Desired outcome: Remove the Advertisement asap

Are you serious? If you truly aren't racist then you wouldn't notice that it's a coloured person and a white man and child, and take it as wiping away the "unhygienic and dirty" coloured person. You would take away from the ad what was intended, that it protects against covid.

If there was no coloured person in it, then you would be on here ranting about inequality and that they don't show enough cultural diversity.

It's people like you that make this world worse, by trying to turn everything into a race/gender/sexuality argument. It's an ad, it's not that deep, move on with your life.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 The Chaser

Hi
I watch and enjoy this program except when it is "rigged" against contestants.
Especially on the British version, the compare speeds up his questions in the final minute of the contest.
This is grossly unfair as it results quite often in the contestants losing like today in a matter of a couple of seconds.
In Australia we believe in " a fair go"
Cheers

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Racist remarks and book destruction

Dear Seven West Media,

Please be advised that it is offensive to destroy books on television. An act of destroying a book is never acceptable and does not pass the "pub test" of consumer expectations: Not only is it unconscionable to purposely harm, ruin, deface, or tear apart a literary work, but beyond its undesirability from the point of view of a reader it also has strong connotations of nazism and sets a terrible precedent.

The book in question appeared to be Shashi Tharoor's "Inglorious Empire", a book in which British Colonialism was examined in the history of the Indian Empire by a renowned academic of Indian heritage. This text was placed on the conveyor belt of a wood chipper and impliedly shredded on your program, Big Brother (aired 1-2 May 2021, approx. 12:00am in Melbourne).

This is despicable. You must ensure that this never happens again.

Desired outcome: A public apology and an explanation of the particular sensitivity associated with the action (given the nature of that text) be issued and Seven Media promise never to harm a book on television again

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Supercars

I am a Big Supercars fan and was excited to hear they were returning to channel 7.
But I'm very disappointed with the lack of broadcasting it has shown.
They are doing exactly what channel 10 were doing showing highlights later that evening. At least channel 10 replayed the highlights at a decent hour not after midnight as 7 is doing. VERY DISAPPOINTED..

Desired outcome: Show live races

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Sport preview

Tonight prior to the football we had the Australian anthem played and as so many times before at such like events only a couple of the players neither of the coaches joined in when are we going to respect what these veterans have allowed us to enjoy the lack of respect towards our forces past and current is shameful as a major media platform it's time you helped change this attitude towards our countries responsibilities and push for our so-called sporting stars to sing and recognize what a wonderful country we live in - and not take it for grated I hope you have the balls to follow this and encourage these people to recognize how lucky we are

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Dancing with the stars

I loved previous series of Dancing with the Stars and Darryl Summers as host. However, I will NOT watch the current series when you have a convicted drug smuggler classed as a "star". This sends the wrong message to people who think breaking the law will make you into a celebrity. I am disappointed and although would love to watch the other contestants could not lower myself to watch this series.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Dancing with the stars - schapelle corby

It is clear that criminals are not to be rewarded for their behaviour, and I find it really offensive that Schapelle is not only being rewarded as a drug smuggler but is now termed a 'star'. This is so disgusting and surely must be against the law?! Please consider people that you recruit as kids will be watching this show and think that you can become a star by smuggling drugs into Bali and doing some time in their jail.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 Gambling ads

We watch a lot of shows on channel 7 but just lately I am ready to stop watching it because of the ads. The Ladbroke ad is relentless. Every second ad during some breaks are Ladbroke. If it's not Ladbroke it's other gambling ads. Channel 7 should be a shamed of themselves constantly advertising gambling, it's disgusting. Not to mention how annoying it is to listen to the same repetitive ad all night.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 An AFL Football Commentator

I have become very irritated at having to listen to the shouting voice of James Brayshaw,

He has become annoying plus. For a man who has not played ONE game of AFL football, his constant screaming, even during a normal conversation with Luke Hodge and Cameron Ling is really hard to fathom.

Does he ever just speak normally?

Desired outcome: Less commentary of AFL games by James Brayshaw. Or preferably, none.

Channel 7 AFL Commentator's are Pro Victorian teams regardless of the sides.

Any interstate team are given very little urgency & excitement in regards to goal play & succes.

BT…..Brian whoever?,is the worst & you can start to see how interstate clubs react to his post match change room roaming Brian ignorance.

Maybe one day there will be a ANFL(Australian National Football League).

I love AFL, even though it killed SANFL, but this Victorian favouritism has to stop.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 AFL Football Vision Quality Eagles v’s Gold Coast Suns 21st March 2021

The vision quality from Channel 7 for the AFL Football from Optus oval on the 21st of March was very poor. When the ball was in the shadows of the grandstand you cannot see the action. If you cannot do an acceptable visual broadcast, do us all a favor and give the broadcast to another channel to do. John
