Great Service, Spotty App
I’ve been using car2go for almost a year and have had a really good experience with it. The cars are clean, easy to drive, and require zero maintenance. You have the option of either parking the car and taking the keys with you if you’d like to keep the same car for an extended period of time, or just choose to end your rental at your destination and start a new rental for the way back.
My main issue with the app right now is that it logs me out of my account when I switch from a WIFI network to a 4G. So if I reserve a car in advance in my house, the second I leave my house to go to the car and start my rental, I have to log in with my email and password before I can start my reservation.
I DO like that I can start the trip with my phone! It saves a lot of time from digging around in my purse for the card. Same applies to the automatic trip ending feature.
I’ve also had a few connectivity issues with ending trips where the car can’t connect to the server and is still charging me for that time. However, I was able to call Car2Go and they’ve always been helpful and refund the extra minutes I spent trying to end my trip.
I’d recommend Car2Go to pretty much anyone who wants the convenience of a car, but doesn’t need one daily. The app can be buggy, but the customer service is really good!
Sneaky changes
I want everyone to see this BAD review.
It was a lot better when it was car2go, it hasn’t been a month yet and I hate it.
Car2go would include your total trip price plus $1 extra for their trip fee and then your taxes. If you made a complaint even in the app they would adjust the credit. With Sharenow, packages up to 1 day or longer charge for the trips included price, PLUS EXTRA (0.19) for miles, taxes and fees. They do not respond to your app reviews or adjust your account, you literally have to call in or send a direct email to be heard. Most cars I get are dirty, brakes are loose, or the engine is Rocky. The Mercedes are a bit better than the standard fleet cars, but are still dirty when you get them. Cleaning up after other people every time cuts into the time you have to enjoy the car. These car sharing companies come into big city and think of how to profit off of the people in the biggest way possible. I’ve spent thousands with this company and come to the realization that it’s just cheaper for me to purchase my own car. I also requested a refund for extra charges before, I was told I would receive about $13 for the refund and my account literally reflected $2 for a refund. I didn’t even argue anymore. The price for a car note, insurance, gas, and parking would still come out cheaper than Scam now.
Customer Service Rude, Cars Messy
On three occasions I have contacted customer service and in all three cases I have been directly and purposely made to feel that I am “wrong” and that they are “right”.
In the first instance the app refused to let me end a ride, and when it finally did it continued to charge me for over an hour without my knowledge.
When I emailed to ask for a refund after the time stated on the screenshot I shared, they ended the e-mail with, “please be more careful and try to remember to end your ride next time.”
The next time I called to report damage, but as I had called during the beginning of my ride (it wasn’t immediately visible), I was told that I was now liable for the damage. They sent me a report to fill out and continued to tell me that it was my legal responsibility to inform them of how I damaged the vehicle.
The third time was similar. I started a ride, began driving and heard a very loud grinding sound so I immediately called and spoke to a nice woman on the phone. I then later received a similarly threatening e-mail with a police report indicating that I was responsible. This second time there was no visible damage at all, because the damage was underneath the car!
There is no way to report prior damage if you have started your trip, making anything like this that isn’t immediately visible automatically your fault.
I will be using other transportation from now on with customer service that doesn’t try to belittle me for trying to help them.
Cool Service; Glitchy App
Car2Go in Austin, TX is super cool and easy to use but the app is glitchy. For example, when I checked out prices for 3 hr packages, I couldn’t figure out how to exit that area without booking. So I had to cancel, which then prevented me from renting that vehicle for the next 2 hours.
Also originally joining C2G was challenging. My boyfriend’s app approved his driver’s license pretty fast but my app left mine in limbo. Customer service (which was foreign and hard to understand) wasn’t helpful. They kept telling me to add my license but the app kept telling me I already had. I eventually emailed it to the company but they never responded. Months later, I called to RE-approach the problem. It took 3 or 4 days to sort out the problem, which was a glitch in the app/website.
Lastly, it didn’t charge my credit card immediately, so a few days later it froze me out of a car because my credit card had expired without me realizing. I wasn’t able to just update my card in the app. It forced me back on the phone with slow and foreign customer service and I’m told it will take 3-5 says to resolve.
Other than the above frustrations, this car service is clever, affordable, easy to use, and convenient. Anxious for them to add the BMW fleet from their recent acquisition/merger. Not a Mercedes Benz fan. If they fix the app, this service could replace a large portion of the local rental car business. It’s an ideal solution for those who need something between Uber and a rental car.
Poor experience
Rented a car with them one time in Seattle. Prolly will never again. I get in the car and it's super dirty, but I think that it's fine because at least the car works. Immediately after driving for 2 blocks, I get a low tire pressure warning. I call their customer service and they suggest we swap out the car for another one. So they give me the address of the nearest car and ask me to call again to perform the swap when I get there. I get there and instead of just transferring my current rental to the new car they end my current trip and have me start a new trip on the second car. This charges my credit card twice. I even lost my $10 off your first rental promotion because of this double charge. They then promise that within 2-3 business days I will receive an email from their member services department after they process a refund for my first car with the low tire pressure. By the way, the second car was even dirtier than the first car and had a really weird smell in it. Straight up, there was a pile of dirt in the back seat: like someone spilled a pot of soil back there or something. Two weeks later, and I still have received no refund on the double charge, no update from member services and when I call their customer service line they just tell me to wait longer and offer no additional escalation options. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company just to get the initial charge removed. It's nice to be able to access a car quickly but their execution is horrible to the point that I likely won't rent from them again.
Horrible customer service communication! And Vehicle maintenance!
I have used Car2go previously in the past. So I have become pretty used to a lot of the weed smelling condition of the Mercedes. This Wednesday I rented a car because my car was in the shop, I purchased a three day package when I got into the car I didn’t realize until I started driving it and I was already on the highway that the passenger mirror was broken as if somebody broke it and didn’t report it they placed a faulty plastic mirror that I can barely see out of and had to purchase a blind spot mirror just so I can drive the car since there were no other Mercedes available and I was already late to work. The car was great I always love driving the Mercedes GLA but the communication service is horrendous!
Friday night after work I called Car2go services to see when my rental will be finish. The agent told me that my rental will be done on Sunday morning at 9:15 AM. Today I return the car happy with the service until I was billed $734 for a miscommunication. The agent falsely told me my return time and apparently I had the car for an extended 23 hours and was charged for every single minute, This was horrific this over charge my account and I barely had any money to even put gas in my own car that I just received Saturday night. I am waiting for my refund and will be deleting my account ASAP. This is a great app for wasting money and getting headaches if you are into that this is an app for you!
Car2go needs to be more clear on when you are to return the car and agents need to be more knowledgeable on current trips and when they are supposed to end!
TOO FEW Mercedes Benz in Brooklyn
Compare to other cities within the United States , Brooklyn has the least amount of Mercedes Benz only 6 or 8 . DC,TEXAS or Chicago THEY HAVE MORE THAN 20 . on weekends is very difficult to get hold of a Mercedes in Brooklyn because people usually reserve them for 24 hrs or 48 hrs ... with that being said...
PLEASE DEPLOY MORE MERCEDES IN BROOKLYN . SO THAT PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO RESERVE ONE WHENEVER THEY WANT AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT WITHOUT HAVING TO WAIT FOR THE PREVIOUS USER TO END HIS OR HER RESERVATION .
In addition it would be great if every car was equipped with an EZ-pass transponder. sometimes, we want to go across bridges and tolls and some tolls don’t allow cash . So please consider that .
➕bring more Mercedes to Brooklyn .
➕add ez-pass transponders on all the cars or at least on the 4 doors sedans .
➕Add a gas ⛽️ card on the 4 doors cars .
➕expand the amount of miles you can travel to 350 or 400 miles .
➕ create mini home areas of 3 or 4 square miles around queens and Staten Island .
bring at least 30 Honda Odyssey mini vans and 30 full size vans equipped with E-ZPass to Brooklyn so that if someone wants to move from one apartment to another or if somebody wants to buy a mattress or furniture, a full size van and minivans will come very handy ..remember people have to move from point a to point b. But people also need to haul stuffs around .
. Do all these requests and I’ll guarantee that you will beat the competition. As a matter of fact if you do this you will have No competition because you will be the best empire of car sharing company ever .
THANKS.
Love the service, hate the app
To be clear, this review is ONLY about the app and nothing to do with the Car2Go service, which I love.
First, I can't tell you how many times I've booked a car only to arrive at the location and it not be there, call support and they tell me it's a few miles away. The GPS car locator is really unreliable. I am operated on the latest OS on iPhone 5 and there is no reason this should be happening from a hardware standpoint.
The next problem is the app doesn't know where I am. When I open it up it briefly shows me where I am and then does this quick zoom away and shows me either Vancouver or Portland, even though I have Seattle as my location. Better yet, why doesn't the app trigger the phones GPS and just zoom in to where I am at that moment? That would be the logical thing.
The next problem with this app is that you have to zoom in and out to find cars because they don't always show up at first. I believe this next problem is related to this, but many times I book a car and get a confirmation text only to receive a cancellation message 2 minutes later. When I go back to look at the map, the car is gone. So the app is letting me book cars that aren't available or that aren't there (or both) then canceling the reservation a few minutes later.
I love Car2Go as a service, but without a functional app, it's much harder to use the service. I'm not going to try to navigate their website on my iPhone and I really don't want to call, I guess I will just have to stop reserving cars and if I happen to pass an available car when I need it (rare), great, but if not, I guess it's back to Zipcar.
Just took my first two trips and don’t like it
I recently signed up for this service thinking it would be convenient, better than getting an actual rental, and maybe save some money. The only good thing is the convenience that you can walk out your door and have a car a few blocks from you. The inconvenience is finding parking when your clock is running. You can’t stop that my first trip I drove around for twenty minute looking for parking. At that point I said I should’ve taken an Uber it would’ve cost less. Speaking of cost I opted for the hour ride on one of my trips and when I was charged it was $5 more than what the original quote said which was $15 this was because of tax. Secondly when I took my first ride I couldn’t figure out how to take the emergency brake off, I was pressing the brake and the gear was stuck. I called customer service for assistance and was on hold for about twenty minutes mean while my clock is running and I’m being charged. When I finally got through we resolved the issue and then I asked about being refunded for my idle time
Or if they could reset the clock. The agent said they couldn’t do anything and to email customer service. In any case I don’t really think this is a good service mainly of the pricing. The majority of the cars 99% in my area are two seaters. So besides being able to reserve a car that’s nearby, I’m not sure if there is any real benefit to this service and if I would use it again. Also, you can only end your ride in certain areas, you can’t park the car anywhere. Which again wouldn’t be convenient if you needed ride somewhere that took you less than an hour but was out of the parking area. You can’t change your package in mid ride. So I’m done using this service.
I can't be the only one with these problems
When I got this app it seemed like a godsend - I could reserve a car and then be on my way. Now, I realize it has ruined my commute and caused more stress than just waiting for the bus.
1. Shows phantom cars and, even worse, allows me to reserve them so I walk to them only to realize that, yup, I'm a sucker, continuing to believe that a buggy app correctly shows an available car. Fool me once... No, wait, an app is not supposed to trick me! Especially one that relies on good reviews for increased customer loyalty.
2. Has a significant lag time, so allows multiple people to reserve the same car. This lag has burned me three times, as of today. I would understand if they notified you that someone else reserved if and you were bumped, so you could avoid having to walk to it. It would also make it better if the one whose reservation was honored was nice about it, but that's not the app's problem. But the lack of adequate notice is the app's (and the company's) problem, and should be fixed.
3. Randomly logs me out, causing me to miss a car due to the time I take to re-enter my info.
Somehow I keep crawling back to car2go despite its buggy app, increasing lack of available cars at all times of day, and terrifyingly bad customer service (I have called the number multiple times, never actually talked to anyone even after a 20 minute hold, and never received a call back from anyone despite leaving messages on their callback line). Someday I'll learn. Until then I will just put this out as a warning to those downloading this app, and a plea to car2go to fix it's service. I can't get hold of you any other way - I can only hope one of your bots is reviewing negative reviews of your app...
App too faulty to enjoy service - but they god they added mercedes
So the idea is great. Loved the hell out of it when I first found out about it but after practical use, the app is so terrible to actually enjoy using it.
First- all payment methods need to be adjusted on the desktop site. Which is small enough of a problem that you may never encounter it, but when you do it's so irritating that you wonder who was stupid enough to not think of it? And every update you hope for that option, and it never comes. But thank god they now have mercedes as an option!
Second, the customer service is terrible. I had trouble with ending a rental once and i was on hold with them for ten minutes. Thats an extra $5 for a trip that should only have been $4. They credited me for the time, but at that point I was late. Not to mention that it was not a parking spot I was allowed to be in (which wasnt noted in their nav system at all - this was a special case), so I had to go back and move the car which cost me even more because couldn't just leave the car there. BUT THANK GOD THEY HAVE MERCEDES NOW.
The cell service to communicate back and forth from your phone to the car just to unlock the car is so abysmal it lacks all of the service's connivence. The newer cars are better/more responsive but I still stand around for up to 10 minutes waiting for and re-asking to unlock the car almost every time despite having 5 bars. But at least they started to have mercedes as options.
Finally, the new smart cars have a ton of cool features compared to the older models, but the way the dash system is set up, its not intuitive to use. So you either wait an extra 3-4 minutes trying to engage with the additional features, adding to your fare, or you do without it, begging the question what was the point? But thank god they have mercedes now.
No integrity. WILL SLAP YOU WITH SURPRISE FEES. Awful service
Before the merge into being Share Now instead of Car2Go this app would’ve gotten a solid 4.5 from me. I used this app religiously as a chance to indulge in an “escape” from the stress of public transportation. To make a long story shorter: because of vehicle and network issues with the trip I originally started (the car never unlocked after I had first been able to reserved it and after the trip had said it was starting) I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with customer care and was told I wouldn’t be charged for that trip and that they issue a 10.00 rental credit to my account in the app. I explicitly asked if that credit could be used toward the car the representative on the phone had setup AND whether I’d be charged for ending the original trip that was connected to a defective vehicle. The representative told me “No, you will not be charged for the trip if you end it and start a new one. And then it will be available towards your NEXT trip” I did as I was instructed, after FINALLY getting into a car and finishing my trip I realized my trip credit wasn’t showing up in the app so I called to resolve the issue. TWO different reps treated me like con artist and a scammer because I simply asked why the credit hadn’t shown up yet if maybe it takes a certain amount of time before it posts to the account in the app. TODAY I realize my bank account was charged $44.59 and again $32.50 one for a 3hr trip rental YOUR APP wouldn’t let me complete. On top of the fact that after all of this PLUS having spent hours on the phone with customer support just to have been directly lied to by the first and then treated like a criminal by two others. It’s very unfortunate that I can no longer support this service. Car2Go was better off before it merged and was taken over by a company that doesn’t care about its customers.

Problems with the app
Yesterday morning we got a car from via Varesina (Milano) to Malpensa airport (30 min of trip) Please see below the car number: 844/GJ983FA
When we arrived to the airport, the app got frozen and we could not locked the car and stop the minutes. We have called several times to share now (before and after the flight) 1,5h of waiting of each call. Then we got charged 89,99 euros for 8 hours. We need to be refunded. Please we need a feedback…
One star bc the app doesn't work with T-mobile
I would have given this 4 stars before, but now with the new cars that app doesn't always work with T mobile. It has left me stranded, locked out of my car, with my car suddenly disappearing from the map and the car2go system. When I called I was told this was a T-Mobile issue with the newer cars and that there was nothing they could do. Not reliable = Not cool.

Horrible customer service
I called for help with my account and the guy I spoke to on the phone didn’t understand me and he was talking over me while I was trying to explain it to him and he got loud and nasty with me then he hung up on me. After that I called back and another person answered me and she put me on hold right away and hung up again. SMH ur bettter off with zipcar, it’s better cars and cheaper. Forget this app. U guys are horrible

I'm really considering other car sharing options
Update, after working for some time. The app all of a sudden stopped working again. When I called customer service they said, you need to reset your network settings. After doing so the problem still exists. I am unable to reserve or start a rental in any of the new Fortwo New cars. Now that almost all of the old cars are replaced by the new, there are no options allowing me to even use car2go service.
This is really upsetting.

TERRIBLE
This company is scammer gold. Customer service won’t do much at all to help you. I’ve been charged $70 on my account and my license wasn’t even validated yet. I called customer service they said I would be contacted back, but I never was. I had to call my bank for a refund. Every single phone call I had with customer service in all my time trying to work with Car2Go either ended with a bigger problem in the end or just confusion. Do not give them your business

I received this text from 990-33 : “ Hi Troy, a new device named Mozilla on Windows XP just logged into your SHARE NOW account. If this wasn't you, please change your password to protect your account. You can always report any suspicious activities on your account at [protected].”
I did have. CAR2GO account a long time ago but haven’t use it for a long time. Website was no help, app was no help. Phone number is a joke. That’s why I’m here. Because there was no other way to get real help other than emailing them directly but after everything I didn’t even feel comfortable doing that.

RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Deleting the app! Customer service is sooo rude for a mistake that they made. Their junk app doesn't work and they are blaming me for not being able to move the car to proper parking spot. Not worth the price and time it will cost you! Just lease a Corolla for couple hundred a month, much cheaper...
Update: Seems like the issue they had was with T-Mobile users, hence I had the issue. Review still stands as it is about Customer Service they provide for a service that costs about $20/hour (tax/fees included). Too pricy for what they're offering and the attitude you get, considering I just leased Nissan Sentra 2017 for $150/month all fees included...

Horrible Customer Service
I’m going on 4 weeks to resolve an issue. Fraud activity happened on my credit card. Still using the car2go service and the pending charges were stopped. Okay now problem...change credit card info and reimburse car2go. Took 3 weeks to complete that process and 4 attempts with me reaching out to them to make sure they got their funds. Now I’m being told I have a pending charge from 2014. It’s 2019 and I sure you wouldn’t have let me use your service and not paid for 1 charge 5 years ago. Even the customer support lady said it doesn’t make sense. She said someone would reach out to me once resolved and that was over 7 days ago. I like the car sharing but the customer service is horrible. Happy to switch since there are other options in DC now.

Glitch in there system
I used to be a frequent user of this application and thought it was great. Unfortunately they recently charged me 125 dollars for a ticket for parking in a restricted area. Which caused a couple of issues that their customer service team never remedied.
A quick google search shows that the average parking ticket in the d c area is 50 dollars not 100. They also charged me a 25 dollar processing fee. I contacted them to inform them the area they accused me of parking in was incorrect. As I have never been to that area of DC. I believe their program allowed another driver to use the vehicle and accused me of getting the ticket. It’s a shame I really loved their product, and I used them twice a week. I no longer use them out of fear of tickets Fees I don’t deserve in the future. I tried very hard to reason with their customer service about this and they sent me a nasty email.
