Shaw cable advertises a 24 hour service to win your custom yet tonight on Friday the 4th of June 5, 2010 I have been on hold once for 30 min but the problem wasnt resolved and now the second time I have been on hold for an 1 hour and 12 minutes. This is unacceptable service as they could easily place you on a call back list so you as a customer arent inconvenienced but it seems that Shaw cable doesnt really care once they have your money you can stay on the phone forever listening to their stupid taped message, Im sorry all our representatives are serving other customers over and over again. Lucky for them they have a monopoly on the service but unfortunately very unlucky for us.

I made the error in choosing Shaw as a land line provider. It has taken nearly a month for them to activate my cable at a new home. I have been without phone service other then cell for 11 days... no 911 service etc. I have been waiting for 4 hours for the installer to finally show up... its now 15 minutes until the end of the 4 hour window I was given and...

Was an on and off customer for a few years (5) as i went to college untill this year i decided to cancel my account like i usually did when i go home from the dorms. This time my modem was labeled as a rental modem, the one I had been using for years and they demanded i return their property.
Talking with customer service it boiled down to "do you have a receipt?" and being a student I don't nessisary keep receipts from 4+ years ago. They informed me there was absolutely nothing that could be done without that peice of paper no mater how improbable it was that i had rented the same modem (Serial Number) for my entire shaw lifetime (never returning it after i'd cancel for the summer before either)it was now a rental.
I am going to have give them my modem that they seem to want so badly or pay 300 dollars... so congratulations shaw you muscled my old modem away from me!

I SIGNED UP ORIGINALLY FROM A FLIER THAT WAS DROPPED IN MY MAIL BOX. I WAS THAN WITH BELL EXPRESS VIEW. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THEM SO I WAS READY FOR A CHANGE IN MY SATELLITE SERVICE. So hope that if you use shaw direct you never have problems. I contacted their customer service representive, talk to a person named Rich. I could not belive how rude they were. Whatever they could say to protect themselves. My advice is use someone else. If you do use them make sure you document every contact you have with them.

Shaw Direct salesman sold me a Ontario value package with a beutifull well designed brochure he swore we would get 150 channels and his brochure stipulated there where 34 HD channels at no extra cost I took the time to confirm with the sales agent ( Arun ) that this was infact correct after installing this dish I could only access very few channels and only 12 HD channels that where pretty much useless when I tried contacting the salesman he did not answer his cell phone I then contacted Shaw Direct and they made out like they did not know what I was talking about then pointed out the on the reverse side of the brochure convenientlly hidden in a coloured stripe so small that I could not read it even with my prescription glasses that you must suscribe to other packages in order to get these HD channels even though it indicates clearly on the brochure that there are 50 + HD channels and that 34 of them are absolutelly at no extra cost. I proceeded to try to cancel my package and was met with some resistance and a huge shuffle to other agents for a painfully long wait times where I was constantly asked to wait a few days to speak to the direct sales agent they finally got him to answer his phone and he lied saying that he had warned me of this which was actually the opposit of what he did he instead tried to hand me a different brochure that was clearer there was a catch and tried to rush me through the sign up process always leading me to believe I would receive the complete package advertised on the initial brochure very deceiving campaing there should be a law against this sort of thing the brochure was definnatelly desingned in such a way as to decieve everyone and there is no doubt in my mind that this salesman new exactly what he was doing.

poor service
I have moved itto my apt 4 months ago. I had cable phone and internet hooked up. I waited two weeks to get it hooked up. My phone never worked. They came back in twice. They finly got it to work. Then there was a problem with something eles. When I phoned them they set up an appointment to come in and fix it. I phoned them back two days before they were to come in to see if I had to be there. I was told that there was no appointment set up. I was pissed the lady at the desk went out of here way to deel with the proublem, that was delt with. Now again I have a proublm with my cable. It is now july 30 and they can not fix it on another service call on the 15th of aug

constant fee increases
I am sick and tired of the constant increases in our tel/cable/internet bill from Shaw. We just had another increase in May 2009, and the current bill I received in July indicates another increase of $5 with the usual notation "Shaw is committed to improve our quality and service". In reality, all they do is collect your money and provide you with the same lousy bundle of tv shows - 120 channels of crap shows and may be 5 good channels of interesting shows. When questioned I was told that it is a requirement by CRTC to feature Canadian contents, which when cross checking found to be a hoax. When I phoned their customer service, and asked why they keep raising the fees and providing nothing in return, and what about the excuse of Shaw is committed to improve the quality and services with each increase and provide no such thing to the consumer. Why are they charging us extra so frequently but returningno additional services. The person at the customer service (after on hold for 20 minutes - because 'we are busy helping others '- recording) said "I really don't know why they are increasing the fees and providing no extras in return" Bingo! My sentiment exactly!
Shaw's greed must stop. They should let the consumer choose what they want to watch and charge them for those channels. Not forcing to buy a bundles of 8 to 22 channels to enjoy one or 2 channel. When you go to a restaurant you pay for what you order and eat. If they charge you everything on the menu regardless what they order, they will sure go out of business.
The competition Bureau is very much on the alert in this matter and hope they will do something to put a leash on Shaw's greed.

Shaw cable is raising there prices again on my bill by $16 now they want me to pay $200 for there services. It is time for the government to step in and start regulating the greed of all these big telecommunication companies. I will have to pay more for TV then to heat my home or have power are you kidding me.
poor attitudes & poor service
We have the most expensive monthly package that you could possibly purchase from Shaw TV and yet we can not record most of their movies to watch later as they have a 'code' preventing you from recording. Even though we are 'purchasing' these movies every single month we can not watch them as they are on at 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning and so we try and record them to watch at our leisure but Shaw forbids this!
Now get this, we CAN record them if we purchase a recorder from Shaw for $750.00 that is good for nothing but recording their movies! What a pile of crap, they tell us they are copyright protected by someone else and that is why we can't record them with our own recorder but we can record them if we pay another $750.00 to purchase their recorder!
Does this not smell like a monopoly to you? Does this not smell like the beginning of a class action lawsuit against Shaw TV to you?

Why on earth would you defend a company that doesn't give a rats ### about anything but money. You talk as if this company cares about you defending their business when we all know that in Calgary money talks and if you don't have enough money then you don't have enough friends because this city is so shallow in thought and more stupid when it comes to building anything worth going to see.Have you seen the Calgary Zoo? It's a big joke and whithin one hour you could walk through everything they have there and left looking for something to do. Please stop trying to sound so defensive unless your willing to shut up and take some constructive critisism. because the rest of Canada has is having a party while the people in Calgary are working to hard to keep up with the selfish a-holes that think of nothing but money and profit.
Shaw has nothing to do with this. these "codes" are set by the TV broadcasters. I am guessing you are trying to record on a Media Centre PC, or something similiar? I experiance the same thing with my Media Centre PC. I am able to record Shaw's channels using other 3rd party pvr software. Most of which are free to download. I can't using Microsoft's media centre software.
I also subscirbe to Shaw's most expensive package and have no problems recording anything. BTW< Shaw's HD PVR is only $398.00. This was the price I paid back in November.
It is funny how people love to blast companies when they know nothing about the actual problem they are having. Maybe a little research would have cleared this up for you.
overbilling
On the 29/09/08 I was having difficulties with an attack on my system and was attempting to download a free spyware as directed by my provider SHAW Canada. I ended up in a purchase site and thought I was buying a contact for $39 for 3 years and when the bill came through later it was $69.14US. As it turned out the program never downloaded so not only did I get overcharged but I got no product.

hacker attempts!
I am sick and tired of all of the repeated attempts by users of shawcable.net to access ports on my computer. I am on the internet every day. When I check my firewall log, there has been at least 50 attempts by computers with Shaw Cable IP addresses. Shaw needs to crack down on this. They also make it hard to contact them if your are not actually one of their customers!
Over all lack of regulation. Turn on commercial...program broke out ! Paying dearly for something I don't want...ELECTRONIC WATERBOARDING ?

I received a call from a rep from Shaw who did not know who she was calling, or the number she was calling - totally stoned. I hung up.
I keep getting annoying pop-up surveys when I am online and loose everything when I try to remove the survey. I am sick and tired of these pop-ups and considering switching to Telus.
Less than 2 weeks ago, I contacted Shaw and I was offered lower price if I sign 2 years contract and everything will remain the same as for the channels. I have lost channel 121, 529, 530. This is scam. Since I only signed the contract less than a month ago, I would like to either cancel my contract or add the missing channels back in.
Terrible wait times! nearly as bad as telus. We are experiencing higher then normal wait times. I am experiencing higher then normal hostility towards this @&%$! company.
I just made 145 dollar payment to shaw on March 20 2018 the next day I got a disconnect notice now I know why shaw customers are leaving shaw to go to another company
signed up for $60 a month service, but the bill has always been nearly $100 a month. today I came home to no service. they'd suspended me with no notice. and refused to turn it on after I made an online payment through my bank, until they receive the money into their account. huh? call back in a couple of business days?
My firewall software picks up hackers from many different internet providers. I am not sure why you think this is strictly a problem with Shaw. How can someone hacking into your computer physically destroy it? Maybe you are having problems with your operating system but I know for a fact no hacker in the world is destroying the physical components of your computer. Simply reinstall your operating systems if you are having issues with it.
Also as mentioned by someone else but is something you seem to be missing is that Shaw isn't the police. They provide internet services and aren't in the business of tracking down hackers. Your comments here are counter productive.

Shaw Cable could stop hackers with an automated system
that detects users runing a port scan or a denial of service attack or
by limiting the use of the ICMP protocal and ports zero through 1024.
However, Shaw Cable does not use these simple precautions against
hackers like other internet service providers do.
