Anyone with asthma / allergy please read
On july 21, 2010 I went into our "new" shoppers store. They resently closed 2 smallers stores nearby to make this one.
One of the two that closed was a 24hr. The only one at our end of town, close to our only hospital.
I enterered into the only enterance, and had to walk through the cosmetic/perfume space to get to the rest of the store. Within minutes I started to get an allergic reaction to the smells I encountered walking in. The funny thing is I was there to pick up my asthma medication, which I found out was at the back of the store. After waiting for almost 25 minutes, hearing the complaints of all the other customers. I finally got my medication. By the time I arrived home I was in a asthmatic and allergy attach. After taking the max amount of medicine I was o. K. Anyone with asthma/allergies knows what the medicine does to your body. It's not fun.
Who ever designed this store is a compleat idiot and it is ovious that they (Shoppers) is only consered about the bottom line (Money) then their customers. I will no longer be using this store. I'll have to go across town.
I wrote the head office in toronto, but i'm sure they will file my concern under "g".

rude-abusive pharmacy staff - disability related
I have multiple disabilities. On June 30th, 2010, at approximately 2:30 pm, I went to drop off some prescriptions at the Shoppers Drugmart at McCallum and Marshall in Abbotsford, BC. The staff are well aware of these disabilities, both in having seen them, and, as well, being told about them. Example, I have a severely collapsed tolerance to normal sound -...

I have hesitated to write this email because of the lack of support I received from the store Manager at your North Vancouver location. I am going forward with this formal complaint now because my 14 year old daughter has been affected by the experience in your store. She now refuses to go shopping at all and this is causing my family stress as well. I will give you a brief explanation of the event that took place in hopes that you can come up with a sufficient way to apologize to my daughter and somehow reassure my family that an event like this would not be permitted in your store again in the future.
On Friday June 11th at 9:40 pm, my wife and my daughter walked in to the 24hour Shoppers Drug Mart on Marine Drive, North Vancouver. They went there to shop for necessities as we often do while I waited in the car. While in the store, they saw a man that was completely naked in the store. My daughter became frantic and was pushing my wife to leave the store immediately. They went to the cash register and made their purchase and left as quickly as they could. As soon as they came out, I could see that my daughter was very upset. They told me what happened and I went into the store where the guy was actually being served by the cashier! I started telling him (the naked man) that he needs to leave the store because there are many families here and this is not a jungle. I asked him if he was high or something because he looked completely out of his mind. The supervisor said '' no they aren't high.'' With a smile. I said '' am i even talking to you?'' so he got his purchases' and walked out of the store with his friends. According to the supervisor, this was the second time he had been in the store that night.
My daughter was upset for the rest of the night and I consoled her by telling her that I would talk to the Manager the next day and make sure it wouldn’t happen again.
I went to the store the next morning and asked for the manager. The Manager said that her clerk (who was also the night supervisor) probably didn’t know how to handle the situation, that’s all. She did not provide an apology or let me know in any way that the clerk would be held responsible for not only allowing this guy to walk around the store but actually serving him!
I am upset with lack of professionalism that your staff showed and the absence of any form of apology. I am annoyed that I have had to take the time to write this complaint but more importantly I am angry and concerned that my 14 year old daughter had to be exposed to such disgust in an environment where she should feel comfortable and safe. I trust that your organization will come up with a suitable way to compensate/apologize to my daughter for the stress that has been caused due to the negligence of your employee and supervisors at the store level.
thanks
Today I went to the Shoppers at 88th and 200th in Langley B.C., I tried to find someone to help me with the Razor Blades as they had all been removed from the shelves. There was a sign that said to ask the Cashier for service. I went up to the Cashier and asked her if someone could help me, her response was "I don't see anyone", I then asked her if she would call someone and this time her response was "No". At the time, she did not have any customers at the counter. As she refused to help me, I left the store. This is totally unacceptable Customer Service. I have worked in Retail and if I ever did anything like this, I would not have a job.
I recently went to the shoppers drug mart at victoria park and ellesmere parkway mall and purchased a gift card to use online it did not work so i went back there with my spouse to return it the next day we went up to the cashier and explained that the gift card did not work she said no returns so rudely and said this works she said call the company i said in the instructions it says the store is responsible she was so mean to us we asked to speak to someone she paged the manager he came up and took a look at and said no can't help we said but your receipt says we can return it we haven't even used he said again very rudely no we said well you should post something to let us no he said oh it says it right were the gift cards are which was not there we said please can u help us this is useless to us we can not use it he said no and just stormed off i was so shocked and upset i have been shopping there for years if he just took the time and been polite i would not mind and the cashier was so mean i don't understand i will never shop there again thankyou
Expired infant Tylenol, horrible. Shopper drug mart. Who care about patient? Not need to say baby. April 24th, 2014.
Hummm, the part about getting the man out of there quickly is key. Obviously he wasn't in his right mind, so you want some one to start trouble with him? ummm no!
Stuff liek this happens, but to put the blame on the store for having a naked man there? Did they hire him to show up and cause yr kid stress? No. So, I agree that is was a bizarre incident, but it wasn;t the store's fault. You are trying to put all of the blame on the store and employees that were liekly as shocked and dumbfounded as you.
Best advice i can offer, share the facts with your daughter that there are nuts and the world and be prepared for them when she comes into contact with them. Simple.
How is this a waste of time. That's disgusting and against the law. If that would have been me in the store and my daughter would have seen that I woulda raised hell until the man went to jail. That is so unprofessional. And the store obviously didn't care...glad you told me...they won't get my business!
bet ur wife liked it ;)
oh my god... this sounds starange is your daughter some kind of ###, by her age she probly seen naked men b4 and doing things u over protective ppl

April 19, 2010, daytime, Randy Allain and I, Nikki Lingenfelter went into shoppers, showed an Optimum points card, left the store, crossed the street, on foot, surrounded by the police, four police vehicles, swatt team with guns and bullet proof vests, hands on hood, legs apart, yelled at, let me see your credit cards, empty your pockets and purse, won't...

Hi. I just came home from a very disappointing visit to my local Shoppers Drug Mart. In last week's flyer, Friskies cat food was advertised @ 3/.99 with no limits noted. Since this store (as usual) was sold out of the flavours I wanted, I got a raincheck (no limit noted on raincheck). When I went back tonight, I wanted to buy 9 cans of 3 flavours, for a total of 27 cans. Imagine my surprise and anger when I was told there was suddenly a limit put on the number of cans I could buy! The store management arbitrarily limited the number of cans to 12! The flyer had no limit, the raincheck had no limit, and suddenly I could not buy what I wanted! This store has often sold out of sale items quickly, and very rarely replenishes its stock before the sale is over. VERY POOR PLANNING ON SOMEONE'S PART -- and then to be told I cannot buy what I want! Many items in the flyer have limits, which I have always honoured -- but the cat food had none and I don't really understand how the store can inform you of this when you are standing at the cashier's desk. My husband and I have been customers of this particular Shoppers Drug Mart for at least 10 years, but that will change quickly unless these unknown "policies" are changed.

Shoppers;
I was at Shoppers drug mart at Don Mills and Eglinton(near the Mc. Donald) today June 10, 2010 at about 8:45PM. What I saw was inappropriate and substandard.
A male customer who had complaints about an expired date labeled juice on the shelf was talking to the store "manager"( I believe) at a low tone. After a while the customer was offended and relayed to us in the line what the "manager" said.
We heard that the manager attributed the expired date juice to some customers instead of just apologizing and change it. That was why he was upset. There would be no way that might happen.
I heard the customer saying that he was not concerned about the money but the principle.
I was observing the development while waiting for my line to pay.
This security woman (with hair lightly blown-dry loose and scattered) tried to intervene and solve the issue. I was disappointed the luck of people or customer skill she demonstrated. You can not just threaten customer telling that you would call security(police).
For a customer, who was calm enough to address a principle issue handled by non-competent "manager" who can not even properly address his complaint, and a security person who doesn't know when to intervene is for me a sub standard service.
These are your customers, if you understand, that tell the truth and help you improve your service for the future and revise your retail management system.
This security personnel was so upset and run to close all the retractable curtains while we were shopping. It was not yet 9:00. What I heard was unacceptable. I herd her saying "F... ###ed".
What is this? Are you training your people to handle issues like this? Or it is what you did not train them
that brought the ### from the heart of your security personnel?
I do not want to see this again. I tis way way sub standard and unacceptable.
rude pharmacy staff
I work in customer service and never had I imagined the level of ignorance possible in this field. Today I went to Shoppers Drug Mart in London, Ontario (Adelaide & Huron) to pick-up my birth control prescription. I went to the dropoff and the gentleman told me it would be 15 minutes. I spent about $40 worth of other stuff while I waited and, seeing that it...

I received a FREE $20.00 gift card for gas from Shoppers for having spent over a certain amount of money there.
The gift card was only effective for approximately 3 weeks.
Yes I didn't notice the expiry date however one would think as it's a gift card it would be valid indefinitely, or at least a few years.
Also, the clerk did not warn us about this by bringing this detail to our attention. Again, one wouldn't think there would be such a ridiculous short time limit to use the card.
(For me, my work pays for my gas and I was going to use the gift card for lawnmower fuel once summer came)
I'm really angry with Shoppers Drug Mart about this. I feel ripped off and that their promotions are not worth shopping there for.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
when you have a promotion on with a limited quantity, how often can one purchase that product for example if pepsi is on for 3 days with a limit of 4, does that mean i can only buy 4 in a three day period
get rid of smelly entrances
Shoppers Drug Marts are popping up all over the country but their only concern is the money they are making not for the health of the people that use them. They all contain pharmacies which people get their medications from, including asthma drugs etc...inhalers and people with severe breathing problems. BUT, guess what, you have to take a deep breath before entering any of the Shoppers and hold your breath until you have finally gone thru the perfume department. Many people with these problems cannot do this. Why or why do they have to have the perfumes at the entrance way anyway. I have complained several years ago but got no where, so guess what? I removed my prescriptions to another pharmacy. I would recommend this to all people that have the same problem as I do, maybe this will decreased their sales. These are DRUG STORES not perfume and cosmetic stores, leave that to bigger chain stores. Just do your job and help people out that are in need.
We are not allowed to wear perfume in the hospitals, dentists or doctors offices or Clinics, so get on the bandwagon and place them at the back of your stores and increase your customer relations.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
It makes no sense for a pharmacy to do this.
From a money/profit standpoint I guess the most expensive items are put at the entryways so every shopper is exposed to them as soon as they enter the door. They are hoping for that sale.
From a health standpoint, the practice goes totally against my understanding of helping those who have health issues related to inhaling these types of toxic chemicals. There are so many perfume/fragrance free buildings offices, schools, hospitals, doctors offices etc. why does the pharmaceutical retail division do this to their customers?
Pharmacies are deliberately harming people. Go figure.
Of course, they hope to profit from the sickness they are creating right in their own stores. Another sale on allergy relief product or prescription. Go figure.
I will not go to the pharmacies who inundate us with the overwhelming toxins at the entrance.
Shame on them!
I agree 100%. I was trying to find a way to e-mail my concerns on this to Corperate Office but couldn't find it. I have put up with this long enough and yesurday was the last straw. After parading thru the cosmetics section to get where I wanted to go, I felt nausious and got a headache. I thought I was gonna vomit. Had to get outside for FRESH air. I will never go there again. You would think for a health store you wouldn't have to go thru this EVERY time you go there. They stopped selling cigarettes there b'cause was bad for your health. Unless they change the layout of the store and put cosmetics way in back or even in a seperate area all together I refuse to enter a Shoppers store.
sales
How can this store continue to operate when at the very bottom of my complaint list with this chain is that the prices are on avg 3x more than reality? I have gone back to this store more times post purchase than I can count because of sales code errors. Once, I noticed that no points were added to my card as I was hurrying to work and it burned me because I specifically asked the cashier if she swiped it and she said yes. I returned with receipt and point card in hand the following day (earliest possible) and explained to the supervisor my visit. I just wanted my points. She said no, they don't do that any day after because they "had been having issues with people trying to scam the system in that region". I argued that this was not my fault and like a stone with a scowl she repeated that that particular store doesn't follow national policy. Not one customer service word or gesture was ever offered. But today, TODAY LEFT ME IN SHOCK - no sales appear today b/c as one employee told me, they're the only ones open so it's a way to make money! I assured him that Lawtons among other similar stores are in fact open and in fact abiding by a code of customer ethics by leaving their sales on until end of day today. Please can someone tell me what is it that allows this chain to operate under such greedy principles? Most importantly, are we guilty of complacency? Canadians don't tend to complain, even if it's the only way to bring about change or reform. But because SDM has no shame, we should be ashamed of how poorly it behaves as a Canadian corporation. A misbehaved child needs guidance and set expectations to improve himself - can we not say the same for Shoppers Drug Mart and its inappropriate practises? ACCOUNTABILITY SHOULD NOT BE A CHOICE.
Phhehwww - I actually feel my blood pressure returning to normal - what therapy this has been! Greatest thanks to you for your time and your attention
Kind regards,
Tori Milley

rude cosmetics employee-jen (#114)
Very rude customer service. She ignored me when I asked her for help, and later accused me of stealing while she was holding the product in her hands! She was yelling and she threatened to call the police if I don't purchase it. I could not reach the store mamager today but I'll definitely file a complaint against her.

numerous errors, last one phoned in prescription number and another drug was dispensed. They should of noticed as this drug was dispensed one month earlier. Client is 88. Had complained that this drug was refunded but still (weeks later) shows in extended medical system. They are thus getting paid.
Another time doctor ordered Vitamin B12, drugstore dispensed with a dispensing fee instead of offering the client (age 88) over the counter service. Other complaints, have left the business.

Gender profiling
I walked into Shoppers drug mart, off Whyte ave and 109 st. As soon as I walked in the security guard started standing there staring at me while I went up and down the isles. Then the cashier started staring at me and kind of followed me around the store, and was just rude with me the couple times he talked to me while i ws there. then I said when I was paying for my items (do you guys think I am steeling stuff or what). he said no we are wondering why I am wearing a dress. I said sharply "I am transgendered" then he just looked at me very ignorantly and said "oh sorry" and dismissed me. I was in tears by the time I got back to my truck. Anyway I am going to make a complaint to the Transgendered community about this
Thanks

I use to work at this pharmacy and the pharmacy manager tried to cause conflict between his technicans and still tries to do so.when he is suppose to be doing things in confidentiality he does not...and then when confronted about it lies to everyone's face about it because heknows he has done wrong. He is the worst manager anyone could ask for because he does not take responsiblity for what he says or does.i want some action taken for wrongful dismisal.it boggles my mind that there is no 1 800 number to contact for shoppers drug mart.if anyone has one please contact me with it..[protected]@hotmail.com..thanks so much

My wfe had purchased Baby Formula in a can on her debit card when we went to return it as I had bought the same formula too and our baby moved up an age bracket and we also received new debit cards and our numbers are now different from the original receipts we were told we cannot return the items at all and we were told "NO WE DONT CALL HEAD OFFICE, EVER"!
Mohammed is the name of the arrogant manager who doesn't listen to reason and who [in his own words] doesn't EVER call head office!

I purchased a Non-stick Wok packaged with 4 plastic bowl set. When I opened it 2 months later, I discovered that Wok's teflon coating had big chip cracks at 5 area. When teflon is cracked or scratched, it will peel off in small parts and get into food. Store clerk told me I can't return since it has been more than 30 days, and it was on sale item. We should open the package and inspect it to make sure it is good inside before purchase anything from the Shoppers drug store.
Hello:
I puchased a Lancome special gift with puchase. Two months later I opened the mascara and the booster and made my eyes itchy and all red. I used it twice and the same reaction after the second time using the two products. Took the product back to Shoppers and cosmetic girl in the department that sold said we have a 30 day return policy. The point is that I did not open the product and she was not listening to my complaint that I was allergic to the product due to smell and it was old. The reaction that I had. She was rude and very blunt we can not take the product back. Lancome is a very large company and I have been using the product for over 20 years and she just had to return it to the company or to the rep. I was so disappointed. Now I will never shop at any Shopper's again. It was just the point of the way customer service was handled.
Yours truly,
Anne Richardson
poor customer service
Returned a gift my son recieved from his grandparents who do not live in Winnipeg, and had the receipt. Was told I needed the Interact Card, told them it was not possible because the Grandparents were out of the city. Was asked for mine, so I asked why, what was the difference between that and cash. They said it was store policy and I asked why. They did not know. Putting it on my debit card was not possible at that time. I asked to talk to store manager and he was gone home for the day. When I first returned the item I went to the cosmetic counter and they had no problems giving me the cash but they were short in their till so asked me to go to the front so I did. That is where the trouble started, so I asked them why at cosmetics would they give me the cash but not here. One of the ladies finally went and asked the Cosmetic Manager, while she was gone I stepped aside and another customer came to the counter. He said to me, they may give you a gift reciept, told him my son wanted the cash for something else. He asked my if I had the reciept and I said yes, he said then what is the problem I told him I didn't know... At that point the cashier looked at both of us and said "I can't concentrate when you two are talking". The genlteman looked at me and I looked at him and we were kind of shocked so we didn't say a word. I don't think she had any right to say that, no one was causing a scene and I do believe people are allowed to talk. To Shoppers Drug Mart, very poor and rude customer service, I was a frequent shopper at this location...not anymore.

discrimination
I just witnessed one of the most absurd, disrespectful and discriminatories situations i have ever seen and i truly feel the moral responsibility to share it with the world! A woman entered Shoppers Drugmart on Queen street east and Parliament, she was half naked and obviously a person that has mental illness and substance abuse issues, she came into the pharmacy took a cart and went around the store shopping. The under cover security man Omar, caucasian aprox. 5 feet 10 250 lbs beard, and sun glasses, decides to blow his cover, gets the rest of the staff to join him in his mockery about this woman's appearance and decides to harass her all over the pharmacy as all customers could hear him say to the lady: What happened to the rest of your clothes, you can't be here like this, get out of here and she just kept on walking around trying to shop as much as she tried to ignore him the security guard would not stop verbally abusing this person! He ignited a situation, blew his cover & violated her human rights just for the sake of satisfying himself and others with his tasteless sense of humor and unacceptable attitude, Now she tried to defend herself as he continues to discriminate her all the way to the exit of the pharmacy, now he over powers her after she had obviously had enough and throws her on the ground puts his entire weight on her ( she is so skinny, i can see her weighing under 100lbs ) and she is begging him to stop twisting her arm as her arm is already broken. He just was getting so much pleasure out of hurting this woman the more she asked him the more her twisted ! The cashier tells the lady please don't move or he might break your arm. the cashier even said to the security man, Omar i will call for back up relax, now this woman is rolling from pain on the floor as he continues to unfairly overpower her, the security man is a sadist and no one was there to supervise him, i approached the scenario and said to Omar the undercover (no more): Listen, she is a woman half your size you are hurting her, by law a woman should be doing this not a man, besides in Canada even if you are naked but wearing sandals you are still dressed how she looks is not your job nor business! Then he took her to the back of the store as the police came i tried to speak to one of the officers and said: I just witnessed what happened in there! but the police wasn't interested so i just walked away. We all know that even if she is right because of her social status she will get the short end of the stick... security guards cannot retaliate against the population is not part of their job description and to attack verbally and physically a woman the way Omar did is simply primitive behaviour. I will try to cancel Shoppers Drugmart out of my retail stores of choice from now on out of principal and i will encourage You to do the same, together for equality and world peace.

#Shoppers Drug Mart has the same kind of reputation, at least the downtown one, in Victoria. Recently I moved to New Brunswick, and there is big new one at 45 Vaughn Harvey Blvd. in Moncton. Since it is close, I stopped there to ask a question about Cover Girl (as I am offended by the Ellen Commercials where she says 'Inner beauty is important, but outer beauty is more important'), and to purchase a skin cream and an exfoliant.
The woman who 'waited' on me, Coraline, could not have been more dismissive and unhelpful if she tried. I told her I needed a face cream for aging skin, as I am in my 50's, and she deigned to walk down the white cosmetics aisle with me, although I am sure that I would have had better luck if I had gone alone. I think the only reason she accompanied me was to ensure I didn't steal, because she was rude and extremely dismissive. When I asked which exfoliant, of ANY brand, she thought would be best for my skin, she didn't ask me a single question about my skin, picked up a bottle closest to where she was and repeated 3 times that this was the best one. I had been running errands all day, so I just took her advice (stupidstupidstupid me).
When I opened the jar of 'exfoliant', I found a jar of clay powder, priced at $44.00, that I had to mix up myself, then steam my face for 8-10 minutes, then apply the product for the equal amount of time. Since I was just looking for an exfoliator, not a hobby, I was a little put off, so I put it back in the box to be returned. The next day, as I was running out of the house, I saw the box, grabbed it, and the tag from the other purchase I had made, thinking that would be fine, as I was just looking for store credit.
Imagine my surprise (again!) when I went into the store and was told that Coraline was sitting in the back and refused to come out and identify me so I could get going- I had told the staff several times that my husband was waiting in the truck, and I was in a hurry.
It was at this point I realized that this was a slap in the face again for me, and since I had spent a large sum of money in about 10 minutes that I was entitled to be treated with respect. No-one likes to be treated like a wart that needs to be removed, so it was at this point I became quite distressed. When I returned the next day with my receipt, after I had phoned the Head Cashier and given her my receipt info, I demanded a refund, which I got, along with the impression that the rest of the staff there thought she was a "bit of a B----" and I quote.
I then wrote a formal letter of complaint, I was so incensed at being treated like that by someone who obviously didn't think I was worth the air I was breathing. The response I got from the store owner was unbelievable- no mention of Coraline, just a sorry you won't be shopping here anymore. At no time was I called or e-mailed for any verification, just blown off. Let me add that at the time I bought the products I was the only customer in beauty department.
I don't know about you, but I am tired of big corporations advertising themselves as customer oriented and not following through. Why would the staff be nice if there are no consequences to their ignorant behaviour. I urge everyone who reads this to re-evaluate where you shop, and perhaps try a local store with owners who are independent and actually care about customer service. Shoppers is a franchise, so where does the money go? I will be researching the Shoppers chain and posting on Twitter, Facebook, DiggThis, StumbleUpon and every other social blog I can find. I encourage everyone with a complaint to do the same. These organizations are not institutions, they are just stores, and according to the employee complaints page I viewed, they are having financial difficulties. Take your money to a store where you are valued, not reviled.

Having had mediocre to poor service for the last few years, I was delighted to see pharmacist, Stephanie, return from a long maternity leave (three children she says). My new receipt did not have a survey on it for feedback. there is no place to let this company know that i finally have a real pharmacist actually doing the job. It is such a pleasure to see someone doing more than counting pills and yet there seems to be no place to send this information. no opportunity for complaints or kudos - don't they want to know? How lucky I am to find someone who recognizes that pharmacy is a job reuiring a keen eye and actual skills beyond counting.

would not hear me out about my son's med's and how she deal with it.
called in my son's med's as usually at a different location, but they were willing to deliver my son's meds to Rosslynn Shoppers Drug mart on 97st, Edmonton. Got there with my roommate to pick up med's for my son, and aim on social serivces so we are fully covered! The phramsit instested that i pay the full amount and aim on a very very fixed income, i told her i gave the other shoppers all my info and i should not be getting charged (showed my welfair card benfits). she still would not listen to me and kinda blew me off and was quite rude. In the end I got my son's med's with no charge just a gilt trip from the lady (Lynn). So here iam upset, felt unlistened too, and undermined. I've been with this shoppers on 97st for 8yrs. I have now moved on to another drug store. Plz do not go there, they do not hear you out at all and are rude. I have called 1-800-shoppers and made my compant they are now dealing with her and her issuses. I even tried to call to talk to her about how she dealt with me and yet again she blew me off. what a wonderful ppl they are hiring to work there hey... I think not! Now they lost a customor of 8yrs and I never did no wrong. good job shoppers!
