Billing
I have been a customer for may years. I have a serious complaint. I checked my checking and saw a charge on my statement JP Morgan Cash. Since I don’t have chase card I questioned the charge and called the my bank . They suggested that I flag my account and open up a new checking account. Well I had to change all of my audo payments
and my depsoits to my new account which was a hassle. After I did that I realized that maybe it was Slomins shield. I called and found out that it was. I was told they had no idea that the payment was changed from
Slomins to JP Morgan Chase.
I was very upset about the whole matter. I want to know why Slomins never either by e- mail or letter stating that the payment would show up as J.P. Morgan. I think for a large company this was a very bad business practice on their part.
Desired outcome: A letter of apology.

Door bell camera and equipment which I never received
I called to cancel my service with Slomin's Shield just to find out that they enrolled me in another contract ( which I would have NEVER agreed to). I was told back in 2022 that since I was a long standing customer that I was eligible for a FREE door bell camera as well as a keypad. I asked the sales representative several times "will this change anything"...

Hello, I recently renewed my contract with Slomin's because of the excellent experience I had during the previous contract year as they were responsive to address concerns that arose from time to time, however unfortunately this week, just 2 weeks after renewal, I am not happy about the inconveniences I am experiencing with the company and am currently...

Oil service contract
Heat won’t shut down in house I was told it wasn’t an emergency and to use my emergency shuttle switch to shut it down. They made me a appointment for Saturday and wouldn’t give a time then never showed. When I called I was told that they were here on Friday and no one was home which was a lie now I’m being told I have to wait till Tuesday. I just paid plumber to shut down zone Slomins is terrible and expected me to live in a house that is either 85 degrees or freezing . Having a service contract was a huge mistake with Slomins I definitely won’t be using them again and would not recommend them to anyone
Claimed loss: Paid plumber to do what I paid Slomins to do
Desired outcome: Fix problem and and reimburse for Plumbers bill

Heating service call
My heater is leaking hot water and the heat is not working. I was told by Marco they would send someone after 8am tomorrow. That’s over an 8 hour wait! That’s insane. My house floor will be ruined and I was told there nothing they can do. Why do I pay for service when I get treated like this. I am very annoyed and dissatisfied with your service department...

I wanted what I thought was an upgrade from the video doorbells that I installed myself as well as getting some outdoor cameras. When I moved into my new house with our twin newborn babies we wanted to get a security system this was 2008. We were told that we would have to have a 5-year contact on the system which was fine since we were not moving anytime soon. Slomin’s operates by bullying their customers to stay with them. I had a key fob that broke and in order to replace it they were going to charge a fee which they waived because they tricked us into a 12 month contract. Then more equipment of theirs stopped working, leaving my elderly mother’s home vulnerable to break in and the earliest they can come is 2 weeks out and they are charging $90/hour for them to fix their faulty equipment. I was very upset by the lack of protection and the time to resolve, as well as the excessive cost. I expressed it many times and all I was offered was yet another contract to waive the fee. They constantly keep trying to rope you in to keeping their service via contacts. I told them I wish to cancel and was told that the cancellation fee would be $107.82 and that someone would call me from the “cancellation department”. No one called and when I called them, I was told that the cancellation fee would now be $226.87. They seem to keep increasing my cancellation fee arbitrarily as another attempt to keep me as a customer. They told me I need to pay for July to October, despite me cancelling in July. I asked them to prorate the few weeks in July and they refused. The customer service is horrific. No one tries to help until you actually call to cancel. I’m looking for a rational person to prorate my usage and then charge me the $107.82 for ending my contract early. All Carla Reise did was combat me and insist she would not even consider it.
Unnecessary billing fees.
I have a balance of 610 dollars which I was struggling to pay off. I sent payments ranging from 100 to 200 hundred dollars a month. I contacted the Slomin's offices in Hicksville NY asking them to please not send any more oil delivers to my home. I cannot afford it. They never delivered oil to my home after that conversation. In return they doubled my bill to 1109.29. It's called an "oil purchase obligation fee". and they only gave me a 10-day window to pay it. Coming up with that amount of money in such a short time frame is unreasonable. We are a military family my husband is a Veteran and I'm just looking to resolve this issue.

I’m complaining about service and product.
The problem started since the first time we asked them to come. My dad made an appointment two weeks in advance. They made my dad who is handicapped take a day off of work and then they called at 5pm to say that they had to cancel. They always say that. Then my dad called customer service to ask to reschedule and they were so rude and mean to him and it’s not fair at all. They have the worst service. They have continued to do the same thing over and over. This is ridiculous and unbelievable and it shouldn’t continue to happen. I am in disbelief of how unfair and hurtful this is.
Desired outcome: Have my service givin to me
Excessive heating oil delivery & deceptive payment tactics
Excessive Heating Oil Delivery & Deceptive Payment Tactics
Slomin's is deceptively delivering more oil than I need/use and is very unclear around payment due dates, percentages and dollar amount of late fees, calculation of late fees, and usage of oil, among many other things.
I have a 275 gallon capacity oil tank.
On 3/2/23 Slomin's delivered ~165 gallons of oil for an approximate $675. The statement and my original contract both state that payments are due within 10 days. 10 days is already an aggressive payment schedule and no other utility has that kind of payment schedule. There is no specific payment date listed on the statement, so it's up to the customer to do that math. I paid the bill in full on 3/12/23.
To my surprise, another 96 gallons of oil were delivered 3 weeks later on 3/24/23 for $400, less than 2 weeks after I had already paid in full my 3/2/23 bill.
I called Slomin’s customer service on 3/26/23 to inquire why I am getting oil delivered so frequently – given the aggressive 10 day payment schedule, this is highly suspect. I could not get a satisfactory answer from the representative. Slomin’s allegedly claims that they monitor the oil in my tank an refill as necessary. I asked the following questions:
1. At each shipment, what is my oil tank at? The rep said it is at capacity at 275 gallons
2. After filling my oil on 3/2/23 to capacity at 275 gallons, why are they adding 96 more gallons 3 weeks later? I said, even if I used 96 gallons in 3 weeks, I still have 179 gallons in the tank! The rep did not have a good answer and said that Slomin’s is still learning my usage.
3. I told the rep, you’re overcharging me for oil that I’m not using. It’s deceptive. She denied that is the case and said Slomin’s wants to ensure I have oil and don’t run out. I said I don’t understand how that’s the case if Slomin’s is monitoring my oil.
4. The rep then told me that I have 30, no 45 days to pay my bill. I asked, where in my statement does it reflect that? All I see is “Terms: 10 days” She said it’s not on the statement. I said, then where is it in writing? She said it was Slomin’s policy. They prefer payment in 10 days, but that I will have 45 days. Again, I asked where, IN WRITING, does it say I have 45 days? She again, said it’s not anywhere. I asked whether it was in my contract or not and the rep did not know. She quoted me a 2% late fee, but there is ZERO DISCLOSURE on these fees.
5. Through my Slomin’s online portal, my original contract, which was delivered to me electronically AND executed electronically, is NOT AVAILABLE. I asked the rep to email me my contract and she said she had to go through a manager. I asked when I should expect the contract and she had NO IDEA.
To reiterate, I’ve gotten shipments of oil delivered on 12/15/22, 1/6/23, 1/25/23, 3/2/23 and 3/24/23. In total, ~592 gallons of oil. After I specifically ask the representative on 3/26/23, she told me my household uses ~3 gallons of oil / day. That means, that Slomin’s has charged me for an extra ~300 gallons of oil, or ~$1,200 for the past ~3.5 half months when I switched contracts. That’s more than a full oil tank and an additional $400 of expense / month. I understand if I was charged an extra 5 gallons per month because we shouldn’t let the oil tank run dry and have to deal with sludge. But 300 gallons is unacceptable business practices and downright fraudulent. We’ve had mild winters the last two years in my town and I turned my thermostat down this winter.
These are highly deceptive practices by Slomin’s and borderline fraudulent particularly because there is no clarity on payments due, how much oil is consumed. Slomin’s can charge late fees at their will, with ZERO TRANSPARENCY to the customer.
Desired outcome: On invoice, want to see oil usage, tank gauge after delivery, payment due date, where in writing that payments are due 45 days after the invoice. Also, 20% refund on extra 300 gal oil delivered to me deceptively not agreed via contract
Oil
I am filing a complaint against Slomins Oil for predatory practices. Your company does not give people the ability to choose how much oil they are delivered monthly or when their tanks are near empty. This leads to enormous bills that they are required to pay within 30 days. I have had to pay over $1300 a month in oil prices, and when I called Slomin's Oil to cancel my account with them because I could not afford the oil payments. I was informed that I would have to pay a $400 early cancellation fee in addition to my outstanding balance of $1500.00. I now have a bill for almost $2000 from an oil company. You do not provide discounts, or payment plans, and you do not participate in any grant programs to offset the costs of the oil. Your Oil Department is HORRIBLE. I will be reporting your company to the better business bureau for Preditory Practices. You force customers to be locked into paying enormous oil bills even if they cannot afford it, you refuse to provide oil if they are unable to pay at least 80% of the bill, and you have NO discount, or monetary assistance for elderly, disabled, or low income people.
Desired outcome: I would like to not have to pay an early cancellation fee, and I would like to be given the option of a payment plan to pay off this $1900.00 bill you sent me.[protected]@gmail.com
Oil, price, early payment discount
My 2% early payment discount was arbitrary ended, without any official Notification. I’ve had this discount for 35 years. When I Negotiated an oil lock in contract. I was told that I still receive my discount. That turned out to be a total fabrication of the truth. When I questioned my Representative, I was told only a few people have the discount, that’s why they ended it. I would say lucky them. I don’t feel I was treated, Ethically. Please have a corporate officer contact me. Randy Rose [protected]
Desired outcome: Returning my well-deserved discount
Slomins heating oil fraud preying on the elderly
This company is a fraud who preys on elderly people who have no idea about technology and starts billing them without their knowledge or consent. They try to make deliveries when people are not home for heating oil they never ordered and had no idea was even coming. They have been harassing my elderly mother for weeks trying to bill her for an oil delivery and "cancellation fees" even though they don't even serve this area, and she never ordered anything from them. You can't order from this town on their website. I tried it with several addresses, and the entire town comes up as out of their service area. All it takes it asking them for a price - something every other company provides on their websites - and they take your name and email to get the price, and then they sign you up for service you told them you didn't want. They randomly sent my mother an email that shows a zero balance due and says "no thank you, I'm not ordering at this time"- this email was in her junk mail folder. They hide a "contract" that they themselves type up with her info without the customer knowing it, in the email attachments, where an elderly person who is not tech savvy is unlikely to open it. The email looks like nothing was ordered and it's just spam. But the attachment then has fine print that signs them up for a long-term service contract - the same that the email says no thanks, I don't wan it - that you can only cancel my snail mail or telegram within 3 days. By the time the unsuspecting victim gets a bill for hundreds of dollars from them, the customer has either ignored the email or deleted it as spam, because it looks like nothing was ordered. They are signing people up without permission from them and hiding it in a fake contract and then using that to bill them for services and product they didn't intend to order. When you complain about it, they tell you, "too bad we have a contract" and they tell you they can cancel it now, but you have to pay them even more! a cancellation fee! They are literally defrauding old people. This company needs to be shut down. They are just no good.
Desired outcome: Discontinue billing my mother and leave my family alone!
Terrible response to alarm service problem
I had to wait 2 days with alarm panel continously beeping loudly for someone to come Then the man came and left before i could answer the text that they were here He didnt knock on door 2 rings on phone and i see truck driving away Called and had to demand a supervisor They sent him back and even after he replaced the detector panel going off Ruined the week Im done!
Air Conditioning
I had central air conditioning installed on 5/24/18. I have called Slomin's ever since then, including today, 8/29/22 complaining that the vents in my largest bedroom are the smallest installed out of my 4 bedrooms. Slomin's is demanding I pay a fee for them to come out and wants to charge me to switch the vents to larger ones. The system was installed incorrectly, but they want to charge me!
Desired outcome: Change the vents to the correct size.
OIL Delivery and Tune Up
Been waiting for 48 hours to get an oil delivery. My tank is almost empty. I need a delivery today before we have no hot water. My contract is almost up so I feel like we are purposely being avoided so that we would need to pay a higher rate for oil if Slomins holds out for a few weeks. This is not right. I also need a tune up but they say they are booked till after my contract expires.
Desired outcome: Receive an Oil delivery and tune up before contract is up.
Oil Service Contract
Been trying to call to get oil delivery and no one answers the phone. I requested call back when customer service agent available and no one calls back. I put in oil delivery request online but date hasn't changed from September. My tank is almost on empty and can't wait. Please call. I also requested a tune up before my contact was up and was told that November is the earliest. Please call to rectify. [protected]
Desired outcome: Oil delivered and tune up performed or guaranteed after contract expiration.
Overpayment Refund
June 6 2022 asked for a refund on oil service credit of $1300 after many phone calls and the check is in the mail I personally picked up a check on July 10 2023 I’ve been a customer for over 10 years and was lied by many employees at Slomins every time I called TERRIBLE COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRENDOUS
Desired outcome: Complaining about customer service including supervisors for over 40 days and billing statements that where incorrect
Unwanted oil delivery
Hi recently received a oil delivery on 4/9/2022. I’ve been out contract since February which I was aware. I received a delivery before in February where I had to pay high price where I understood that I had to pay high price but then I called and asked to be removed from the delivery route. Then while I was away on vacation received another delivery. I...
