The post has an 8 inch wide vinyl cover over a 4X4 post, with an offset hole that positions over the front (street side) of the 4X4. I specifically requested for the signs to have centered numbers so that the mounting holes would be towards the front of the sign, allowing the screws to engage the 4X4, one on either side. However, SmartSign centered the numbers on the same side of each sign (these are double sided signs) rather than both sides of the sign. As a result, the mounting holes were towards the leading edge of each sign, causing the mounting hardware to miss the underlying 4X4 post completely.
To make matters worse, the signs are 6 inches wide while the post is less than 4 inches wide. This made it even more difficult to mount the signs properly. I was quite disappointed with the final product as it did not meet my expectations.
To add insult to injury, SmartSign offered me a 10 percent discount over a month ago but I have yet to receive it. This has left me feeling quite frustrated and dissatisfied with my overall experience with SmartSign.

My experience with SmartSign was not the best. I decided to order a simple engraved plastic sign for my friend as a Christmas gift. The invoice showed an estimated shipping date, but I never received any other email indicating that the sign had been shipped. I was unsure if it would arrive before Christmas or not. It finally arrived on the 21st, but unfortunately, it had two errors. The first two lines were underlined, and there was one extra space on the top line and two extra spaces on the bottom line. This made the wording look sloppy and threw it off-center.
I contacted customer service by phone, and they asked me to follow up with an email that included photos of the error. I told the representative that the sign was a gift for Christmas, and he said they would try to get the replacement out to me in time. It took two days for the same representative to acknowledge my email and forward it to the production staff who made the error. Apparently, they have many subcontractors to whom they farm out the actual work.
When I responded to the email and asked why it was taking so long when I was told every attempt would be made to get it to me by Christmas, I received a response two days later that said only, "I will let you know when your replacement has been shipped." Four days later, and now AFTER Christmas, I finally received an email from that same representative that said the package had shipped. It arrived the very next day, so it had shipped several days before I was contacted.
I don't know if they have just that one guy in customer service, but I only dealt with him, and he was quite unfriendly, seemed put-out by my call, and didn't seem to be very competent. The customer service was terrible! There are many sites online that perform this basic service, and next time I will most definitely be choosing another!
