How not to do updates
The app is reasonably effective for what it’s meant to do. There’s enough said on that.
The one thing I find unforgivable is the disruptive update policy. The app frequently refuses to run, or log in, unless you perform an update immediately. I am in the IT field - I understand why updates exist, and why they are important to do. But, some apps are more important than others — like, to be able to log in and get your insurance info, or handle a billing thing, or whatever. If I get into an accident and I’m dealing with an irate driver, potentially injured passengers, etc., the last thing I want to deal with is .. oh hey, I need to update this app. Oh and also, it requires an OS update to run the new version. OH, and THAT OS version won’t run on this phone. I guess I will just provide my insurance info that nice police officer next time I’m at a computer, then.
State Farm - quit playing around. Either code like a professional writing an application that can be critical, or get out of the software game.
“But it fixes security issues.” Then write better code. And/or stop using so many third-party libraries that need such frequent updates. And use SDKs that don’t bomb out on old, but still reasonably functional, devices. This stuff is serious sometimes. The stakes are higher than a game or social media app. Grow up!
Bait and switch
Cecil , my agent, promise to me in writing that my rate was dropping from $80-$70 and if I wanted to I could add $20,000 worth of renters insurance for only $10 a month which would bring me back to exactly $80 which is what I’ve been paying all along.
Well, that was exactly the case as you can clearly see if you look at my payment history.
My nightmare, rollercoaster ride of different monthly bills has never ended in many months now. I told him to remove the renters insurance since it was not going to be $80 a month and he made a mistake and it was going to be $85 a month. I told him if he can do simple maths that I didn’t trust him. since my insurance is on auto pay it scares me that I do not know from month-to-month what seesaw will be charging me. Sometimes it to hundred dollars a month and sometimes it’s $84 a month another month it’s $91 a month!
I’ve called corporate I’ve finally switched agents and I’ve even had my attorney right Cecil because he doesn’t return my emails or phone calls to explain any of this.
I’m going to be reporting Cecil to the attorney general. I’ve always been happy with Statefarm and my new agent here in Dallas is great along with his assistant Linda.
I think every penny that I have paid over $75 over the last six months should be refunded to me as this was not my screw up , it was Cecil.
I’m sure no one will read this or even bothered to send me an email.
Update said improved UI. False advertising
2 stars because mobile deposit is faster, everything else about app, especially banking, was ruined.
It looks less like a native app now and more like an embedded mobile web app. It's weird.
It's over designed. Round corners, awkward fonts, pointless backgrounds, slower page loads, and more steps to complete fundamental tasks.
Suddenly they have branded mobile check deposits? Why? MyTime? What the danged heck does that mean? Are we really still prefixing "my" on the names of things? Did we have groundhog's day in 2006 and never get out of it?
The previous version felt like a solid iPhone app. A simple nav bar along the bottom. Account balances were listed with their accounts, clicking the account went to the transaction history. Now you go through a drop down for that, the balance, transfers, and mobile deposit. Those ALL used to be one click away.
The previous app was designed much more thoughtfully and with great respect to the user. This new one feels like it was probably made by a print designer and the project was led by a marketing director.
The last version felt like it was developed and designed by an experienced team and made me proud of state farm.
This one makes me wonder who should be fired for wasting the company's money.
They might read this and think yea yea everyone complains about UI changes. Well, I don't. That's how much I feel the need to say something about.

Double charged for same vehicle always something
Friend had a no fault accident in my vehicle on way to get air bag recall done I can’t drive 2 cars at one time . They back dated policy and it through just that one vehicle into a lapse when all three of my vehicles were on one policy just the one that had been wrecked lapsed .Then they completed my claim it was a total loss I had only liability so I wasn’t getting anything from State Farm . I sent pdf files of police report and pics of the vehicle wrecked .Everything they asked for. They had my full permission to talk to my friend the one driving when accident happened . They spoke with him numerous times . I know of at least four deportation times they spoke with him about accideThen after I raise sand about the lapse and show that my bill was paid on time they changed status of claim. like I said I wasn’t getting anything from them anyways . They said I wasn’t cooperating with there investigation all kinds of other lies . I work second shift 7 pm - 5:30 A . They are closed when I am getting ready for work and when I get off I told them it’s kinda hard to reach me but the nerve then the vehicle that was false lapsed they freaking charged me again for months of May , June , and July when I had already paid it . This took place in August .! Everything they send me has a different date on it ! My policy clearly states that my billing cycle ends on 21 st of the month so why do they try to cancel my policy as early as the 17 th of the month every month ! Ugh ! Beware ! I can prove every word .I have screen shot to back every word I have stated above !.
USED to be 5 stars
Customers: DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR TAKE UP PRECIOUS SPACE ON YOUR PHONE/iPAD, etc... JUST USE THEIR WEBSITE, it seems I too was stuck in the never ending loop: "update your app" go to settings "open app" no upgrade avail, Open app... "update your app" again only choice is to select "upgrade app" which takes you to the App Store, where your app doesn't show an upgrade avail, so only choice (again) is to "open app" open app "UPDATE APP" (this is where pulling my hair out begins...) Delete app, download app "your brand new iPhone won't support the newest version of this app, so you are unable to use this app because you have chosen not to blindly have the latest iOS until most of the bugs are worked out. So no more easy bill pay, no more having insurance cards in my virtual wallet, and no continue dealing with SF after so easily submitting a claim using this handy app. Nope, not for you my friend! We no longer have anything handy, current, tech savvy and convenient for you. Pardon my sarcasm, and no need to say "we're sorry. Or, "you can call your agent, or go to our website" or "we just want the best for our customers." That only makes it worse. Feels a little passive aggressive if you know what I mean. Here's what would help, hire an IT person to upgrade your apps (without cutting off a bunch of customers -and probably drive them elsewhere) which include a way to provide continuous service to ALL consumers. You can upgrade your apps that can accommodate multiple iOS. I have a feeling the next update will force consumers to upgrade as well, or get left out in the cold... time will tell.
Good grades are hard to obtain
I have two cars and I primarily drive a Prius. I am unable to obtain B’s or A’s when it comes to turns or acceleration. What makes this really hard to believe is that I do not drive my car aggressively with fast starts or stops. I can’t really accelerate any slower. I get 50 mpg and you don’t get that if you have fast starts. My point is that even with a Prius on eco mode (smoothes out the acceleration) I can’t get a B. The app collects all of this data, but other than unhelpful generalizations, there is no way to see what circumstances the app determines what is bad. I have no way to see the actual problem with acceleration or cornering in order to improve. I would like to see the raw data so I can see when and where the “problem” occurred. It seems like State Farm wants to inform me about my driving with generic letter grades, but then does not provide any specifics on my driving that would actually get into why specifically I get the grades I do. If I am participating with a very minor discount I might add and battery degradation, I should get something out of it with seeing my data and knowing how I can improve tailored to me. Even a top 10 list with specific examples would be helpful on a daily or weekly basis. As a suggestion it would help to also break down the data to know who was driving as related to the grades instead of lumping everything into general grades for the car as it is hard to know who is the driver (broken down my cell phone device) who is messing up. Present the full data to the customers in a useful manner for maximum benefit and potential improvements to driving behavior.
WARNING FOR CAR REFINANCING OR CAR LOAN
I am a long time customer of State Farm. I have my house, rental home, car insured with State Farm and I have financed several cars through State Farm bank. I refinance my 2014 Dodge Challenger with State Farm to cut down my 72 month payment terms of 590. 5 years later I’m thinking I have another 3 more payment and I have 15 more payment. State Farm bank didn’t correctly write up my contact. PLEASE DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They refinanced my loan for the same 72 months but at a much higher rate $660 when I was paying $590 at the credit union. What type of company that cares about their customer with choose this uneconomical decision for the customer. The refinance was for 60 months not 72 months. This is highway robbery and so unfair. I’m a very good with spending money and budgeting so I know I didn’t agree with paying more for the same term this makes no sense to me. After talking to many people at the bank and being referred to my agent that had nothing to do with the person at the bank that wrote this bogus loan up they offered me to refinance again smh. PLEASE read everything before you sign don’t trust State Farm bank they are not in your best interests when it comes to loans. SO VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH STATE FARM BANK! They told me that I signed the papers and it’s been 5 years and the system is different. They can’t do anything about it. I payed over $6000 more for the car refinancing with State Farm bank. This is so unfair and inhuman PLEASE read your contact carefully I’m kicking myself for trusting them to do the right thing. State Farm bank the world is round and you will get your back for doing people wrong.
Low Hanging Fruit
I have bank and insurance products. I use the app 99% of the time for banking. Take me to my account balances first. . .either figure out that is what I do 99% of the time or give me the option to set that as the starting point in the application.
Again, I use the app for banking 99% of the time. Even better would be when I start the app, take me straight to the login. I can always cancel if I don't want to log in. I just can't think of a time I've used the app without logging in. So, I should be able to start the app, use the touch id for authenitcation, and then see my bank account balances. Bada boom, bada bing. . . easy peasy.
For the online deposit, I have multiple accounts and commonly deposit multiple checks. The app defaults the account in view when I choose to deposit, but "forgets" for subsequent deposits.
Also, I always use the camera light to get better image quality. For the front, I turn it on and take a picture, flip the check over, and. . . .I have to turn the light on again. Leave it on at least for a few seconds.
Also, when deposits get declined it is commonly due to image quality. When I've submitted multiples for the same amount I have no idea which one was the decline. I've found the best way is to log on from my laptop and the application lets me "review deposits" and display the picture. Let me see the picture on my mobile device. Let me do a "retake" and default the account and amount.
I have some external transfer accounts set up. I can do internal account transfers via the mobile app, but the external accounts are available for transfers.
Someday when I use the app for my insurance policies, I'll provide feedback on that.
Awful service and major bug preventing getting an estimate
State Farm has some serious issues at the moment. I am trying to file a claim for an auto accident. The people at State Farm told me I had to submit photos though this app in order to receive an estimate. So I downloaded this app, found the place in the app to start the claim and upload photos of the damage. The app stated State Farm received the photos and I should get an estimate within a couple of days. Over a week goes by, and no estimate. So I call the claims number, which informs me they don’t have the pictures and can’t send out an estimate. So I call my local agent, who logs into the system and she can clearly see the photos. I then email her additional photos straight to her and she uploads them to State Farm’s system. A couple more days go by and no estimate. Again the adjusters state that they aren’t seeing the pictures. They keep telling me I have to use the app… which I did. It turns out that the only way to get an estimate though this app is to follow these steps exactly 1) Call State Farm about the wreck they will send you a link to this app though the App Store. 2) Download and open the app. 3) The app will prompt you immediately to start taking pictures of the car. Follow the prompts. 4) You will then have to log in or set up the app with a user name and password. Only then will a claims adjuster get your photos. Bottom line is that you can’t submit photos to the claims department though the place in the app other then the prompt that comes up when you immediately download the app. You can upload photos though the app and StateFarm gets them but their left hand won’t know what their right hand is doing if you do that. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE STATE FARM, FIX IT!
Great idea, POOR execution
I was excited to have this app available. Little did I know, the app doesn't have a function to save your work (when submitting a claim) as you go along. I put a lot of thought and time (at least 40-60 mins) into entering all details of the claim. From drawing out the scene to adding witnesses & describing the accident in detail (within 300 characters). I was happy to see that there's an option to email the details when submitting a claim. Just as I hit "send," the app crashed. I logged back in and there was no sign of a claim, or even status of it being submitted for review. I called technical support and all they could offer was to change a password & transfer me to customer service because the claims don't show as pending, or are even visible. Customer service was just as bad, they asked all of my information , if I was insured through State Farm, and followed with the possibility of registering to use the website to submit claims and look at my plan details. Although I know they don't know my situation, but they should. Most customer service departments, that you have representation through, should have some kind of information system or database to cover all aspects of a customer's information. In order to make their experience more positive. As if almost getting pummeled by a hit & run driver isn't frustrating enough, now I have to put up with this and wait 24 hours for my rep to call me?!? Sorry to rant about Customer Service, but they will be of no help at all if you want to just make sure your claim was submitted. Sure they could take the info over the phone, but I'd rather do it myself so nothing is missing and there are no loose ends or holes to my claim. So again I say, great idea, but poor execution .
Weird nomenclature
This app gives me the heebie-jeebies, and I think it’s mostly because they use weird terms for familiar things.
They talk about biometric authorizations “they have added” to the app, but it looks like they’re just enabling TouchID and FaceID. But if they’re doing that, why not just say so? Then I got a confirmation email from them saying “you recently setup [sic] your facial recognition on the State Farm mobile app.” That makes it sound like they’ve built their own facial recognition software into the app, which is a terrifying possibility, and I absolutely would not trust that. But if they’re making use of secure Apple technologies, I already trust that! So why the sloppy terminology (and spelling mistakes)?
They also ask up front for permission to share your data with Google (which I declined), but there’s no other place in the app to confirm that, or learn what they would have (but are not now) sharing with Google, and if they’re sharing anything else with Google anyway!
They do, however, make a really big deal about their “allow offline ID card” feature, and enabling/disabling it... but they also allow you to just stick it in Wallet if you want to (a much better solution if you want to have it available), so again: why the big fanfare for something that iOS already does better and that they didn’t need to build?
Maybe management is just being BS’d by their IT department - it wouldn’t be the first time that happened in Corporate America - and if the execs are too old or dumb to get it, that’s a sad state of affairs. But don’t try to BS us, because we know better.
Seriously, all this BS is making me think much less of State Farm as a whole. Like maybe they really are out of touch, and maybe I need to switch to someone else.
NSWILSON
NSWILSON...
So, you’re leaving because of the demanded upgrade?! BUT...you can pay your insurance on the laptop, twice a month. So you’re just leaving the APP, not SF. IOS11...made your cables not work anymore?
You really should submit that to Steve Jobs, PERSONALY and everyone at Apple.
I’m sure they’d ALL love to see/hear/know about that.
Heck, I can’t fix it, but I’d even love to see. Upgrading to another iOS make the cable to the equipment stop working.
Have you been able to see visions ofChrist on the cables, or images of Satan when you try to log onto the machine? This is truly a miracle.
One, was it sayin you HAD to upgrade for the app to work.
Two, it not accepting cables when all you’ve done is upgrade the operating system.
Submitted to the news. ?
People need to know.
(Only Faux if you don’t want anyone to believe it.)
My review,...
Love the app, works great, very intuitive, most helpful anytime. Day/night/weekends.
The other one was good but this a definite improvement.
I’m even more impressed with the quality and functionality of the program, but more that my cables still work with all my equipment. AND. I already had ios11. People were complaining about it, buggy, issues, etc. fortunately (knock on wood...) I haven’t had the first problem with the ios11
At all.
AND...it didn’t stop my equipment from working, AND, my car still cranks and it’s drivable, even when I have the phone with ios11, in the car.
My sympathies to you Mr/Mrs. Wilson.
It must be frustrating.
I agree with the developers comments. Maybe when that get solved , it start to work a TINY bit better.
(Just a suggestion...hang onto your phone, cables, etc. it’s very possible that very soon they’ll get it fix so the cables work with ios11). Best of luck.
Quite Unhappy
I must say, while I live State Farm... this app is subpar at best.
While it does a fine job of showing my history, why does it indicate I have a bill due- but when I attempt to click on the "Pay bill now" link, it literally goes to a screen that says.. "You have no bills due".
I kid you not, this happens roughly every other month. It's exhausting.
What's even more fun is that you don't pay it when you want to, THEN... miraculously you receive an email a few days later indicating that you're about to be CX if you don't pay your (now) two-month old bill.
Despite attempting to go in and pay for over a week straight.
Calling SF's customer service is like speaking to 3rd graders. They seemed to not recognize my dilemma. I had to equate it to me telling them their paycheck was in the bank... even though they could "see" the deposit... they couldn't get their money. Then, (I told them) imagine I send you a letter indicating that you're about to be penalized for NOT taking any money out for two weeks. Then, you suddenly log back in & you can access your money. Amidst all this frustration... I'll throw in a snarky attitude implying it's "your fault". You'll want to castrate these guys, I assure you. This has gone on for over a year. I just simply tolerate it because I have a long standing relationship w/ SF. I assure you though, whomever is running this app needs some schooling on how to write rules for software. It's nonsensical.
I will say that ONCE the bill actually "appears" in my app (albeit 1+ month late)...
I've been able to pay without incident. It won't, however, allow me to pay in advance, or pay an entire year in full, etc.
Very limited functionality.
Absurd. Your developers need some assistance with how this should operate, have them give me a call. I'm serious. They need help.
Fix payment system
First you guy respond with some made up lame legal excuse for incompetence. Please read my request/review/ again and admit no such legal requirements. Please don’t respond with call billing dept or agent.
***
I received your response.
Please post where I can find legal requirements passed by US government or state or any legal entity for my question below. Where it states use app to add credit card and website to remove it and change payment method.
Hope it was not a made up answer given to me by SF.
***
Even stupidity has its limits. My credit card was compromised and added new card via mobile app for payments, new card was accepted. Now says go to StateFarm.com to change the payment to new card and won’t let me remove my compromised credit card on the app.
Seriously! What a dumb application process.
***
Mr CIO Of State Farm,
0 stars
Repeating! Auto payment does not work, if you change credit card. Per your suggested solution to get hold of tech support. I was told “it’s a requirement to call the argent to update the payment process”. Seriously your “programmers” cannot come up a simple solution of payment updates.
Plus! Talking to your agent they are as much frustrated with “all” your systems as I am with just payment process.
Back to dishwasher commercial! Why have a mobile app if you are forced to complete the remaining process manually via “landline”
***
iOS programmer person,
If you get positive reviews “happy” response is immediate... If you get suggestion to fix a problem you hit “ignore” button. Amazing customer service training SF puts you folks thru.
***
Seriously! I cannot delete my compromised/stolen payment method. I can add a new payment method but cannot use it on mobile app. I have to use StateFarm .com to update my info as final step.. Really!
Like the dishwasher commercial “why do you have a mobile app”.
YOUR CLAIMS WILL BE IGNORED
They deserve ZERO STARS. Ive literally waited MONTHS for my claim to be paid out. Filed a claim on behalf of my recently deceased mother, continued to pay for the insurance as executor (so the car would be insured). Was involved in a hit and run (while the vehicle was STILL INSURED and I made the payment), NOBODY (including the local state farm office with Bob Frias) has bothered to call me REGARDING THE CLAIM. They are however; contacting me through mail asking to be PAID for the next “billing cycle”, without bothering to address my claim. I HAVE LITERALLY CALLED 50 separate times to address the details of claim after providing all the appropriate information several times over. The agents make claim that there is no “supervisor” to speak to and I am transferred several times to different departments which has not only wasted my TIME and my LIFE. Time is money. Im always polite, however nobody that I ever speak to on the phone sounds COMPETENT enough to handle ANY CLAIM. They just lead you by the nose through their training program like going through a drive through restaurant. 95% of the workers that you speak to are at home with background noise, unprofessional, surly, or ghetto-fabulous. Also, the tow service with “AGERO” is a complete joke and a waste of time (ask any state farm agent and they will admit it). Keep in mind, this is the SECOND time in 15 years that STATE FARM has FAILED to address my claim for months at a time. Honestly, you're better off with no insurance if this is the level of disrespect and lack of integrity provided TO PAYING CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE BEEN LOYAL STATE FARM CUSTOMERS FOR OVER 30 YEARS! God forbid somebody happen to die while under STATE FARM INSURANCE, your claim WILL NOT be HONORED or processed! This is by far the most disgusting insurance company I have ever has the mis-pleasure of “serving me” as a paying customer. Just imagine how they will treat customers who own a home, a boat or something with high value if they cant even handle an $800 dollar repair.
If I could give 0 stars I would
State Farm is a useless insurance company. They give you the option of going to one of their auto body shops to get an estimate; an auto body shop of their choosing who has a State Farm person working there (which are few and far between and you will need an appointment to go to-which could take you a week to get); or use this terrible app. My situation was a State Farm driver rear-ended my brand new car. I wanted to get it fixed ASAP so they suggested I take pictures using the app. I was at home so I had both wifi from home as well as the Internet from my phone on and yet the app kept failing-telling me I have no internet connection. I took the pictures with the app and when I tried to submit them, it shows a percentage is submitted (e.g. 25-50%) then immediately says no internet connection, fails, and cannot submit request. I try deleting the app, reinstalling it, trying to take the pictures again because, of course, the app doesn't save anything that you previously did. I call a State Farm agent to "assist" me and they claimed they re-sent the code to my email twice in order to access the app. They sent me nothing-I receive no email from State Farm, yet I'm receiving emails from work and friends, so it's not an Internet connection problem. The State Farm person is useless. I try again for over an hour to try to submit and finally it says I have supposedly submitted the images and yet no estimate available. The State Farm person said it could take 48hrs for an estimate to be available. I ask for them to confirm that they did in fact receive the pictures because the app is unreliable and the State Farm agent says he cannot confirm that and will not know until there is actually an estimate available. So I say to him, so, you're telling me I'm going to have to go through this frustrating process of using the app again if my images were not actually submitted or regarded as insufficient? Affirmative says the useless State Farm person and he denies that they would delay a claim...well, they're 100% liable for the damages to my vehicle so I can definitely see why they wouldn't want to pay. By the way, State Farm will not accept any actual pictures of the damage to my car and the other car via email, even though I have 20 of them, because it's not done through the app. Instead they expect you to go back to the 90s as if you're using Microsoft Paint and pretend-mark using the pocket estimate app on a drawing of what should be your car where you believe the dents and scratches are and this is considered sufficient for them. Of course the State Farm rep claims no one has ever complained about this app and I tell him to take a look at the reviews here on the Apple App Store. Garbage State Farm app for a garbage company.
State Farm doesn't get it - PURE JUNK
When I first saw this app I was excited - State Farm is usually so good. There are so many great possibilities for this application. Boy was I disappointed.
That and this application just does not work most of the time. And they don't even offer any kind of support for this application.
This is an update to a review I worte a long time ago and they still haven't fixed anything and there is no way of giving any feedback other than here. I really wish Apple would pull this application so that State Farm would take note.
I'm afraid that State Farm either doesn't get it, doesn't know how to implement an iPhone app, or just want's to be able to say me too as far as having an iPhone application.
There are so many good applications out there that were done well from the start. You would think that a big company like State Farm would put the resources into understanding what makes a good iPhone app and then not letting the app out until it's a class A program. As for me, I deleted it and my respect for State Farm just took a significant hit.
So let me get to specifics:
- Insurance and my interaction with an insurance company is based upon, unfortunately, emergencies. If it doesn't work quickly every time, quick and easily then forget it.. But for the past two days all I ever get is "service not available now, try again later." After a couple of days of this I deleted the app to make room for something that actually works.
- There are a bunch of caveats, like this information may not be valid in your state, so that I still have to carry a card, then what's the value?
- The ability to gather information in an accident is crticial. My 12 year old granddaughter could do a better job of setting up this application. I wouldn't use it; I have a program called iWrecked that is light ages ahead of what's offered here.
- Car broken down. This app only allows you to find a tow truck, and it navigates away from the application. This is called a quick and easy solution - not a good, value add to the program. Get RepairPal instead. It gives you locations, estimates for reparis, ratings on service, etc. Again, light years ahead of State Farms application.
- Submit a claim is another poorly thought out feature. You have to log into State Farm's facility to use it. With AT&Ts poor coverage you can't even use this feature in a lot of places. You should at least be able to gather information and get it ready for when you can log in. Again, an example of where State Farm just doesn't get it.
Bottom line - State Farm really flubbed this up and has damaged their reputation. Get a couple of good applications that work really well and keep your agent's phone number handy. And, if you want access to account and ohter information then use your PC. But don't waste your time on this application - it just isn't worth it!
State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company Complaints 13
App went backwards - Bye Felicia!
I don’t know what they were thinking when they released this new app, but I will be going to another bank shortly as a result - it’s terrible. Regular functions take 1-3 more taps than before, they removed so many important features (eg, doesn’t show last payment to each payee, can’t track history as easily, etc) and so many more. App UI looks a little better and the iPhone X facial recognition is great, but the rest of the app is no longer usable to me. I’m going to Ally Bank instead, which has the same benefits (eg, ATM charge refunds, etc), but has a much better app!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Need compatibility with 5C
Update 4/23 - Despite the new app not being compatible with my 5C/iOS 10.3.3, I was still able to use the former Pocket Agent app. Now the former Pocket Agent app requires that I update to the new version. Thus I am left without access to any SF app at all. Please enable usage of the old app on older phones so that we can at least PAY OUR BILL through the app. Not everyone feels the need to drink the Apple Kool-Aid.
I have a 5C so I am stuck with Pocket Agent? Why, when the redesigned app is compatible with 5S? Please add compatibility with 5C to the redesigned app.

Not very user friendly
The app was not very user friendly when entering a request to be towed. It would frequently show a blank screen and I had to begin the request anew two times. Its GPS feature oddly showed my location at one point as being in New Jersey despite being in Maryland and previously locating me correctly. The app’s search feature for towing destination oddly would not list a nearby Subaru dealership as an option. Opt to manually enter the address of your present location and also where you need to be towed. Really like State Farm as a company, but the the roadside assistance feature needs improvement

Worst overhaul yet!
The latest design is the worst yet. Why do app developers think that users enjoy swiping and scrolling? I hate the fact that I am now unable to easily see all of my accounts on one screen. The new design forces you to swipe left or right to find your accounts. Should I mention all of the wasted data being used to load three buttons on the top half of the screen that will never be used while squeezing the important data I need to see in the lower half of the screen. It does take much longer to load than before which can be a deal breaker in today’s technological world. How I wished I never updated the app to the latest version.

Get it together
Their online web based service never works neither does their app
‘We couldn’t retrieve your policy detail information’ greets you every time
‘Some of your information failed to load’ is another one
Agents are emailing us pdf’s to confirm quotes and later more money is taken out of our accounts than what we are quoted.
When using the messaging service I get an email back saying, it doesn’t work do to it online please call.
What’s the point of having an online service when nothing in reality can be done online.
After downloading this app and seeing all these error messages upon first launch I think it’s safe to say: nothing works and it’s time to switch!

Continuously Raised Rates
My rate costs me more per month than my car payments ever did. Loyalty doesn’t matter at all with State Farm. They have no desire to try to help and keep you as a customer. I’ve been under State Farm my entire life. My parents have had a life insurance policy on me since birth and once I was able to drive, I insured with State Farm. Everyone that my husband or I have spoken with has the attitude of “Oh well, rates go up,” which was the last response he received. No one even offers to help figure out a way to reduce the rate. We’re in the process of finding another insurance company. If State Farm can’t be loyal to their customers, why should their customers be loyal to them?

Super not convenient
Had the app for years. When it was updated to the black background at login I have never been able to login. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no change. “Currently unable to login. Try again later.” I guess I can’t currently pay my bill and will have to pay you guys later. This has been like this for months. Luckily the internet hasn’t broken yet and the State Farm website works. If you are gonna develop an app that makes everything super convenient make sure it works or else it’s just super not convenient and a huge waste of time. I mean I’ve put minutes into this review. Almost enough minutes that I could have saved 15% or more on my car insurance. You know what I’m saying.

New update is faulty
I have been a user of the app for years now and it has been helpful and informative for the insurance accounts I have. When I was involved in incidents, I was even able to make and keep track of claims. With this new update, I can’t even get into my account because it prompts me to verify my user name and birthday to change my password. The boxes to do that take up the whole screen and sits on top of everything else so after I enter that information I’m unable to submit it to get into my account. When I hit “sign in” it takes me right back the info verification page so that I’m literally unable to get into my account. Smh! Why have an app if you make changes that prevent its use? Deleted it. Smh

New version WILL NOT WORK
All of the sudden my app started telling me that it needs to be updated to the newest version. I click on update and it takes me to the App Store. The App Store does not give me an option to update and just gives me the option to open the app. So now I'm stuck in a pointless loop between the app and the App Store. So I decide to delete the app and download it again from the App Store. When I go to download it says the app only works on ios11. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This is the only app I have ever ran into that will not let me use it without the most current iOS version. I'm using an iPhone 7 plus running the most up to date ios10. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable that you're trying to force people to use ios11.

Better options out there
During the five plus years I was with State Farm I had zero tickets or accidents. I did have two claims for hit and runs on my parked cars. Both on video not even once did they want to see the videos. One was a total loss. That video shows a driver on New Year’s Day park and pass out for several hours in a large suv. Until the Cincinnati Fire Department came with lights and sirens woke him up talked for mere minutes and left. Minutes later he drives off crushing my car in the process. My other car was sideswiped while parked also hit and run. They made the rates and I paid them for years now all the sudden they won’t renew my policy. Full coverage on both vehicles. My advice is pick an insurance company that will take the needed action as the person who totaled my car was caught and apparently State Farm did nothing.

Hard website to use
Your making your website very difficult to use!
When I was trying to make a payment on my credit card account I had a hard time finding the payment link/ where to go. It could have been because there was no payment due, but I wanted to bring down my balance. I finally was able to make the payment. But, it
did not state that the transaction was concluded. It stayed on the same page and it was difficult for me to know what to do next. Not knowing I started to pay again then my gut feeling was not to repeat the transaction for fear I would make an additional $1000 payment and canceled. I did not know if my payment was acknowledged until I got an email confirmation.
Next, finding the sign out button was difficult.
I don’t have these problems on the other websites. Follow my steps and see if it’s a snap for you to make payment when a payment isn’t due but you want to reduce the balance.
I am just be sincere as to a problem. I find State Farm Bank to be a excellent company.

You ruined a wonderful banking experience!
I use State Farm for all my banking and insurance, I used to be able to sign in and easily see a list of accounts with a total- now I have to scroll through them one at a time (in the order SF chooses) to see my balances.
You took the SF payees of the bill pay list and moved them so now I have to go to 3 places to pay my bills and not 1.
You don’t have a total on the screen that lists the total bill payments pending like you used to- I used this to cross reference against my written notes and total to be sure everything was paid and correct.
Every time I pay a bill, the app takes you back to the account screen so you have to go into pay bills again to pay the next one.
ALL of theses issues were not the case in the old app, it’s like the banking side was reviewed by a bunch of people who only use the app for insurance, this was not a well thought out upgrade if you’re going to take that much away. I am desperately trying to figure out if I can download the old version!
Please fix this State Farm!

I didn’t think it could get worse
Whoa! Now they changed the privacy policy to MUST AGREE to using the microphone and audio recordings and Google tracking OR YOU CANNOT USE THE APP. CALLING AGENT TOMORROW. If it cannot be used without agreeing to giving away my privacy, I am DONE with State Farm. Why do they come up with stuff AFTER you download an update. SURPRISE! We know you need to use the app now, but just agree to give away your rights first...okay? No option to NOT agree. Option is to delete app and change carriers. Hey SF, do you think you are the ONLY insurance company?
Old App Review:
The interface was bad before, now it is HORRIBLE ! Nothing about it makes sense. It overwhelms you with useless information and getting to the most relevant information is like solving a puzzle box. Even when you get to the information it is displayed in a way which makes it hard to see the complete information.
I thought the other interface was crappy, but now I wish I could have it back. Fire your user interface designers. It seems like it was designed by committee. Geesh!
