I truly don't even know where to start other than this is the absolute worst company that has ever been allowed to continue in existence and they should be ashamed of themselves for the deceptive way they interpret the contractual language, which ultimately leaves the consumer in the dark.
I've been with Allied for 9 years and have maintained my central a/c accordingly, getting yearly maintenance performed, to ensure proper coverage when it came time to having it replaced - without having to worry about Allied denying coverage, because I didn't properly maintain my system.
So when the time came for replacement, they denied me and offered only $1400 for a $10, 000 unit, stating they are only contributing to the condenser and not "the coils, slap, upgrades, or any other additional components that are not part of the basic unit"...and this is how Allied spun their contractual explanation...
"My name is M*** and I am with Allied Home Warranty’s Dispute Resolutions team and I sincerely apologize that we have been unable to provide a response for you. I can see that this complaint was in regards to work order 510193 where we had Services by Reliant out to your home and they recommended a new AC system because of the age and the condition of the equipment.
We were providing $1, 135.00 towards the replacement of the unit which is being provided per the terms of the disclosure of coverage that is read to every single client when a claim is opened, where we are providing coverage for the part that has failed which in this case is the condenser. The relevant portion of that disclosure reads:
“If Allied determines that a part needs to be replaced, the warranty will provide coverage for the failed part but will not cover the difference if you have an upgraded or specialty part or for any modifications needed.”
That being said there are numerous items that are not covered under the home warranty associated with replacing the condenser such as proper disposal of the unit (Required under Federal guidelines), the recovery of the remaining refrigerant (Required under Federal guidelines), refilling of the unit with the new refrigerant which in this case would be the upgrade from the soon to be discontinued by the EPA R22 to R410a and of course, any additional modifications that may be needed to be able to install the new unit which as I can see here in the report, the technician did specify verbatim:
When replacing an evaporator they replace the supply plenum, add start collars with mechanical dampers, add transition with access door for ease of inspections and maintenance, rerun the drain lines and add float switches including a new drain pan, and reseal the unit.
When replacing a condenser and evaporator in addition to above mentioned items they install new service disconnect with electrical whip and add a composite coated base pad under the condenser.
Finally when replacing the complete system in addition to above they: lift the furnace up on 9" stands (room permitting), reseal the return plenum add new furnace vent, cap and collar, also included is a new manual gas valve and flexible gas line with sediment trap and hard pipe.
For all of these modifications required for the installation and in some cases are needed to bring the HVAC system up to code and make a proper installation, are disclosed to you as well in that same initial disclosure that continues:
“Allied Home Warranty covers the major components and parts that affect the operation of the system when damage is caused by normal wear and tear. There may be situations that result in additional costs not covered by your warranty, such as additional modifications, access issues, upgrades, disposal fees, Freon, or specialty tests that may be needed to get your system operational.”
I sincerely apologize for any confusion this might have caused as that is never our intention and we strive to make any repairs or replacement easier to manage. I did speak with my manager whom you spoke with earlier, Ms. Gloria, and she has given her approval for us to apply the full $400 from the Plus 400 add-on as a gesture of goodwill to your work order for a grand total of $1, 535.00 worth of coverage. This brings all of the options on the estimate down from what you were originally quoted and they are now ranging from Option 1 which is the most expensive, the Deluxe 5.0 Ton 16 Seer Gas System Replacement down to $6, 077.00 with coverage to the least expensive Option 4, the High efficiency Deluxe 5.0 ton Condenser + 4.0 Ton A/C Box Coil down to $4, 413.00 with coverage.

So of course I hit the ceiling at mock speed and went to the Houston BBB - who was deeply in bed with their A+ rating company and here's what they had to say...
"Thank you for following up with BBB regarding your position in the above-mentioned dispute.
We understand you are NOT satisfied with the business’s response, and have noted your dissatisfaction in our files. While we regret we were unable to reach your desired resolution, the business has provided BBB with its position.
You requested a second opinion from Allied Warranty in regards to having your condenser and internal coils replaced. You submitted photos along with two (2) quotes.
Allied Warranty responded stating they have reviewed your quotes and there were issues with both. The ARS quote, the company offers same financing similar to Services by Reliant, the diagnosis is exactly the same including the note that repair is not possible and the replacement is the only option, there is no estimate for replacement so Allied Warranty has nothing to company to Reliant's quote. You rejected their response, however, did not resubmit an estimate from ARS.
The John Moore quote, the company offers financing similar to Services by Reliant, the diagnosis is exactly the same as the one provided by Services by Reliant, including the note that repair is not possible and replacement is the only option. Quote is high $10, 619.95. The company's replacement is $3131.95 less expensive than John Moore's quote, not counting warranty coverage.
At this time Allied Warranty states neither quote is a valid candidate for either price matching or a second opinion as currently the best pricing is still Services by Reliant.
The BBB cannot ask a company to operate outside of their company policy. Should you accept Allied Warranty's original offer of $1135.00 or the second offer of receiving $1535.00 worth of coverage towards your replacement unit please contact Allied Warranty directly.
This matter is now closed in BBB files, and will appear in the company’s BBB Business Review as: “Answered - the business addressed the issues within the complaint, but the consumer remains dissatisfied.”

As I am sure you know, federal and state laws give companies such as Allied Warranty and the BBB, the right to operate within contractual agreements. I personally, as well as my staff have thoroughly reviewed your complaint in its entirety.
While the policies may not end in personal satisfaction, we do require our accredited members to address disputes in a timely manner. We have thoroughly reviewed all correspondence, and closed the complaint administratively. Allied Warranty has offered a payment to you according to the contractual obligation to you.
While you may not agree with our determination in this matter, we do believe the company made a satisfactory attempt to resolve the complaint.
We have provided an update to Council as well as correspondence showing that the BBB has operated within our policies as well. The above was the final answer to a month long battle, where the BBB rolled over and did absolutely nothing!
So of course I'm now waiting to see what the BBB Council has to say about the behavior of the local Houston BBB.
Oh, I've also gone to the Texas Real Estate Commission, the Texas Attorney General Office, the FTC, the Texas Insurance Commission, who I am still waiting to hear from.
Did I mention that I live in Houston, so this entire time I've been without and air conditioner with pets, in extremely hot conditions - and the BBB REFUSED to force Allied into mediation or arbitration, because they said, "Allied did nothing wrong".
This is like a nightmare come true.

I truly hope no one else has to endure this type of terrible, unjust, unconscionable, and unacceptable treatment.
Awful company do not use them
I am not going to go into detail about everything that has gone down this last month, but after about 40 phone calls every other day for 3 weeks to both Allied & the vendor (extreme appliance repair) and my oven still hasn't been repaired. Allied has the worst customer service I have ever experienced on top of the fact they hire incompetent vendors with horrible reviews to do work. I have spent countless hours on the phone, on hold & waiting for returned calls that I never received. Allied does the bare minimum & the vendor they hired does even less. I am very dissatisfied with my service all around and intend to file a complaint with the Texas department of Insurance. Don't waste your time or money with Allied Home warranty or Extreme appliance repair

Terrible company! Do not use!
Dealing with Allied Home Warranty is a nightmare.
Problem #1. My fridge stopped working. It was roughly equivalent to a 1700 dollar model. Only about 4 years old, so not that old for a fridge and should still hold most of its value. When working with the warranty company, their initial offer was for 600 to replace the fridge. If you haven't been fridge shopping lately, that's basically equivalent to a fridge that would fit in a college dorm. I fought for 3 weeks and over 10 different phone calls later, I finally got the replacement cost up to 850. Still very low, but it just goes to show that they are trying to take advantage of people who aren't willing to put in the time and effort to fight for more money.
Problem #2. If you happen to have issues over the weekend, you either have to wait until Monday to deal with them, or you run the risk of having to foot the bill of the service for yourself (what happened to me). My 8 1/2 month pregnant sister is living in a house in Texas in the middle of summer when the A/C goes out. I had to get emergency repair service on my own because it was after office hours. The bill was near 1000 dollars. When I sent the invoice in to Allied to get reimbursed, they offered 350 bucks! That's a joke right? After multiple calls, they refused to deal with this issue anymore and told me the case was closed and would not change.
I will be finishing my contract with them and then never doing business with this company ever again. I would advise anyone and everyone to look for a different warranty company if you don't want to constantly feel like you're getting taken advantage of!
Failed to provide service needed
At 10:12 AM on Tuesday, 6/16/15, I called in because my central A/C stopped working. I work from my home office, so it was imperative to get it fixed ASAP since temps and humidity was high. I was told by the agent that she would send an email with the contractor information and that the contractor would call within four hours - she never asked if I needed emergency service, but HELLO, it's high 80s and humid - of COURSE I wanted service ASAP!. By 3:40 PM, I'd heard nothing, and never got the email with the contractor's info. After a miserable afternoon suffering with the heat, I knew there was no hope of getting anyone out that day, but called in again to complain about the lack of getting the contractor info and the contractor not calling me in the time limit as I'd been told. The next agent I talked to at 3:50 gave me the info, so I called the contractor and asked if they'd gotten my request from 10 AM. The snippy lady said they just got it an hour ago (past the four hours the Allied agent had told me they'd call me!), and that they couldn't get anyone out until Thursday afternoon; I had to work my outside job (3 - 11) that day, and asked for earlier service - she said they couldn't do it and to call Allied back and ask for a different contractor. When I did, the 3rd Allied agent told me there were no other contractors in Austin - just this one. ONE contract A/C company for a city of over a million people? She called them herself and they told her the same thing - no one available for emergency service, and she just basically left it at that. I had to find someone on my own to come out and paid them out of my pocket for what I'd been paying Allied months of fees for nothing! I rarely call them, so it really irritated me that the one time in a long time that I call them, they can't provide the service I need and paid for! When I called today to cancel the service, suddenly the agent offered to "talk to her supervisor" to see if they will reimburse me. I'm not holding my breath!

How is it that Reliant is still using Allied Home Warranty to defraud customers that trusted Reliant? And as a more broader outlook, just how is it that this Allied company is still being allowed to defraud hundred’s of mainstream humanity is mind boggling? Now as it stands I feel betrayed by even Reliant, whom I’ve been with for over 30 years since it was call HL&P .
Being that we were coached into obtaining this surge protection coverage years ago by a representative of Reliant, we thought we were paying into a trustworthy “Reliant owned” surge protection program. We were never informed that our surge protection (which we paid monthly with our Reliant bill) was with this other said Allied Home Warranty company, in fact I never heard of them until I needed to file a claim.
Now after reviewing complaint after complaint, the mental anguish and needless stress this ‘Allied home Warranty’ business has caused us appears to be just a drop in the bucket of their fraudulent practices. Like so many others, we’ve paid into a warranty protection for years, and when finally having to place a repair claim due to one of the many surges which periodically causes our resident lights to unexpectedly go out only to flicker back on minutes later. Yet this particular time when cutting back on our 60 inch flat screen TV, it would not stay on. After Allied sent our their service representative we were later told that Allied would NOT replace the shortage out bulb, as they bogusly claimed the bulb went out due to ware and tear.
In my opinion this Allied Home Warranty business are liars, deceivers, and thieves, making them allies of the satanic system and agents of the devil …. Our dishwasher stopped working properly. I submitted an online service request on 9/1/14 via Allied Home Warranty website. They emailed me back following day advising that they assigned the work order to Gilbert Home Services providing their contact number and telling me to contact them if I do not hear from them within 4 business hours. They contacted me (several hours after the expected call back time frame) and set up an appointment on 9/4/14. Gilbert Home Services came out on 9/4/14 to diagnose the dishwasher. We paid our $60 fee per the contract. He stated he needed to order a new computer board for it and that should fix the problem. We heard nothing from either Allied or Gilbert regarding the status of anything for over a week. I called Allied on 9/16/14 asking what the status of all of this was, as it is taking quite a long time to get this dishwasher fixed. They then said the part was in Gilbert Services needed to contact me to set up the appointment. They never did. I called Gilbert Home Services 3 times (leaving messages) and Allied a second time before I was able to finally reach them. They came out on 9/18/14 to install the new part. Well the guy left before the dishwasher had a chance to run all the way through and see if it actually was fixed. It wasn’t but 10 min after he left that the dishwasher was doing the exact same thing as the original problem. They didn’t fix it. I immediately called to Allied and asked if they could have Gilbert come back out as they had just left. They said no if they wanted me to have him come right back out it would cost us $120 emergency service request. I advised that it wasn’t the situation, this is not a new request the vendor literally just left the house doing an incomplete job. She stated that it didn’t matter she had to submit it as a recall in the system. I had her do that because I had no choice in the matter. I called Gilbert home services a couple more times following this(leaving messages) with no response. It wasn’t until 9/22/14 I was able to reach them. On this call he stated to me oh it must have been the other part damaged. I advised don’t you need to come out to check to make sure? He says no because he knows what it is. I asked him if you knew what it was why didn’t he fix that in the first place. He said that he needed to fix the computer board and basically avoided my actual question. Reality of the situation is he ordered and fixed the wrong part. I called to Allied immediately following this conversation and they said they will wait for the vendor to submit to them. I at this time requested they send a different vendor because I didn’t want Gilbert Home services repairing the dishwasher further. They were obviously not trained properly to diagnose and repair the dishwasher, as well as they were extremely unresponsive to all of our calls and did not do anything in a timely manner. They stated that they cannot switch providers because once one starts fixing it they have to finish it. I again have no choice in the matter. I really just want this fixed asap. More time passes, I hear nothing from Allied or Gilbert so I call again, this is now going on 3 weeks of a broken dishwasher. 9/24/14 they decided to offer us and when I say offer I mean they told us we had no choice they are giving us a cash out value to replace our dishwasher in the amount of $200. To say the least I was quite upset. Our dishwasher is a higher value Samsung. It cost us around $700, it has a lot of extra features that we specifically saved our money to buy this particular one. I told him that value is completely unacceptable. For one Home Depot’s cheapest most basic bottom on the barrel dishwasher is $269 not including tax or installation. He said he would get back to me. We called back on 9/25/14 and they told us their final cash out value is $269 and it had to be put on a sears or best buy gift card. We declined this offer and told them that per their contract which states that they “…provide replacement systems or appliances with similar features, capacity and efficiency..” this value does not meet the same specifications as our existing dishwasher. He said that they don’t have to pay to replace something like ours that they don’t have to match color. I stated that it’s not the exterior color of my concern. It’s all the features. They refused to listen to anything we had to say. They never even asked us what model number our dishwasher is to see what features, capacity or efficiency it even has. When I asked them how they derived at the value for a replacement they said a website. When I asked for them to provide me the website pricing support so I could review what model and the features compared to ours to see if it is similar, they refused to provide me this information. In addition, we told them we don’t even want to have the system replaced we just want it to be fixed and working. It is not our fault the vendor they chose did the wrong repair and purchased the wrong part initially. So now that it is going to cost Allied more money to fix it because of the vendor Allied chose, they decided to just give us an extremely low ball cash out value on a gift card to two stores I wouldn’t even want to purchase my appliance from. I honestly, just want the dishwasher fixed. If they don’t want to fix it and want to replace our dishwasher fine, they can go ahead and replace our dishwasher with something comparable to what we have existing. $269 will not buy any dishwasher in general, much less one comparable to ours. Plus they aren’t even taking into account any tax or installation costs, as we don’t know how to install our own dishwasher. Home depot installed our existing one.
All I am asking is they not breach their contract. Either fix it since it is covered by their contract or offer a cash out value that is an appliance that is similar in features, capacity and efficiency.

We bought a used home, and the sellers offered to buy us a one year warranty. The home was empty for a year. The day of closing I had electricity and water turned on. During the walk thru, I discovered the breaker was off for the water heater. I turned it on and the breaker tripped and sparks shot out of the water heater. I called Allied, and put in a service request. Their plumber spent an hour trying to replace the elements, and quit. Said he wanted to replace the entire water heater. I received notice from Allied that they were rejecting the claim, on the grounds the condition was pre-existing. The very first claim, denied. I hope the rest of the year goes better than the first week.

Allied Home Warranty refused to honor its "One-page contract" and repair my plumbing problem. Why do they have a "One-page contract?" Because it is vague and allows them to refuse to honor repair requests at their discretion. Their affiliated contractor is NRG Home Services. NRG and Allied are owned by the same company. It even states so on their website. NRG said my plumbing repairs would not be covered by Allied, but that NRG would do them for $8, 400 dollars and would even be so kind as to offer financing. Allied said repairing or replacing pipes is a "modification" and their contract doesn't cover modifications. So, replacing or repairing anything can be considered a modification and is therefore not covered if it would cost Allied too much money to fix. Allied Home Warranty has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. How do they manage that? They pay to be a member of the BBB and the BBB doesn't want to rate their members low. It hurts their business model. Here is the response I got to my complaint with the BBB for Allied Home Warranty failing to make the repairs required by their contract:
"There are some complaints the BBB cannot process due to our by-laws and national guidelines. The BBB cannot intervene with issues regarding store or company policy. Please understand policies are not required to be posted in the stores or on receipts in the State of Texas. It is very important that consumers ask a lot of questions prior to purchasing a product or use a service to ensure that they understand the company's refund/return/exchange policy clearly.
You may wish to pursue your issue through the court system. The number for Small Claims Court information in Harris County is 713.755.5137.
The BBB has not notified the other party in question but will keep your letter on file. We sincerely hope you can find another way to resolve your dispute."
It should be noted that Allied Home Warranty's "One-page contract" prohibits you from filing a lawsuit against them (small claims court). It requires you to go through arbitration instead.

-plumber said it had to be replaced
- I received this info from Jackie in Houston office at extension #678 at 3:09pm
-told me it was 399$ to have it replaced. They cover 199$. So I would have to pay 200$ + 60$ service call for a total of $260
- I will be providing the cost to the agencies of the badger 5 1/2hp for a retail client to buy and for a vendor to buy. I will be getting printed cost of the badger to submit.
- they said it was an upgrade and that is why they were charging 200$.
-total cost to replace the garbage disposal is 399$. Cost of a badger 5 is 85$ to 120$. So 399-120$ In part = 269$in labor cost plus the 60$ paid for service call = $320 for labor. No modification is necessary
- per call at 3:44pm with Leslie if I don't use the badger. They install a standard universal garbage disposal with less horsepower and extensive remodeling of the pipes to fit the standard universal garbage disposal needs to be done. Allied does not pay to have your pipes modified to fit this model.
Thoughts to my self:
Reason this deceptive is now I the consumer have to pay 320 in labor to have an 85$ garbage disposal which fits my house or get there standard that doesn't fit the house and have to pay to have my pipes redone. I have owned many houses and the size of the garbage disposal is standard in all houses.
Luisa take photos of yiur garbage disposal and ask around ten of yiur friends to see their garbage disposal before you submit this to three agencies.

Allied Home Warranty is a complete FRAUD! Beware of this company - Gloria, their manager, is dumb as a box of rocks. My warranty contract states, Allied will provide replacement systems or appliances with similar features, capacity and efficiency, but will not be responsible for matching dimensions, brand or color. I had a pull out handle, stainless steel, multi water setting faucet that they replaced with a cheap plastic one. They refuse to comply with, "similar feature, capacity and efficiency" and say because it is a faucet (one that water flows out of) it is similar enough. What a joke. Gloria should be fired for being so incompetent and their president Andrew White should be ashamed for taking advantage of people. I am filing complaints with the BBB.

Read the fine print on any contract with these SCAM artists. My contract said I had a max of $15, 000 contract coverage for my two central air conditioner units. Sounds great. Had a check of my a/c in Sept by a chosen Allied vendor. He said both units were leaking and I would have to pay $6000 for repair of the condensers for both units. Just the condensers. I had no choices. No, no upgrades from 13 to 16 SEER. No alternatives. Pay the $6000 and that's it. Did I want a second opinion? Allied would choose another vendor, I would pay, and if that estimate was lower, Allied did not need to even review it, and the original vendor did not need to accept it. I could pay for all the estimates I wanted, but the original vendor would still do the job, at the price he found acceptable. No choices. No alternatives.
You know nothing about Allied vendors. You cannot Google them on the web - they aren't there. You cannot find any history, reviews, references, qualifications, or background. You have no choice in who comes, no list is available from which to choose. If their estimates are too high, too bad.
That $6000 estimate INCLUDED $1500 warranty credit for the claim. Yes, $1500 max credit from Allied to repair TWO air conditioner units. The fine print is that each CLAIM is max at $1500. I know, it doesn't make any sense to have a max of $1500 to replace/repair an air conditioner. That's what I naively thought too. Air conditioner units are obviously not subject to that limit. Well, with Allied, yes they are.
With Allied you have no choice in vendors, brands, upgrades, second opinions, or alternatives. You have a $1500 max claim for replacement/repair of a central air conditioner (or two).
BUYER BEWARE -- you will lose lots of money dealing with these crooks.

They are the worst I have ever had to deal with they came to tune my heater and said I needed to replace the whole unit air and all gtand total of 8700. 5. Ton unit rheem I went ahead and paid for a second opnion my self and and the gas valve had to be replace this order was put in on Oct 27 here we are alsmost med Dec and they never showed up also will not let me talk to any one higher than manager.
I agree! ALLIED WARRANTY is a scam! Their vendors are not registered with the Better Business Bureau and most of them have horrible ratings online. That's the only way you can get information on them. Unfortunatley, you find out AFTER they have visited your house and have dramatically inflated the costs for repairs. I had A-DOS plumbing come to my house to fix my water heater and they quoted me $1650. My warrantly company would cover only part of the repairs. I would end up paying almost $1200.00 out of pocket. Ridiculous. Oh, and that's besides the point that their plumbers are rude, condesending, and unprofessional! One of them even mocked me when I asked about a $250.00 per technitian fee. I apparetnly needed 3, so that alone was $750.00. I contacted two other vendors and they both quoted me less than half (parts and labor)! What makes things worse was that Allied has not done anything to address my concerns. There is no supervisor ever available to speak with. They apparently don't have a last name - the CSR refused to give me her name or her supervisor's name! Dealing with ALLIED has been a nightmare. I'm not sure who to go to at this point to escalate this? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

When we purchased our house in Lago Vista, in June 2010, it came along with an Allied Home Warranty. In December, we called AHW about the hot water heater not working right. They contacted Dos Amigos out of Austin, who called and set up an appointment for the next day. They diagnosed the problem and got permission for replacement from AHW, but could not do it until the area was brought "up to code". The house is 14 years old, so we understand codes have changed. Before they would do anything, they said that $375 was the basic charge set by Allied Home Warranty to bring it up to code, which is NOT covered by the warranty - - that had to be paid first - - as well as the 'service call' fee. I called AHW, and was told that was correct - - and reminded that it is still less than the cost of a hot water heater, etc., etc. So Dos Amigos left to get the heater and parts to bring it up to code. Well, the parts were a flex hose, a drain pan, some couplings and about 6 feet of pvc pipe to take the overflow to a drain. All the parts may have cost a total of $50 and it took them a couple of hours to do the entire job. Their wonderful "connection" of the drain pipe to drain was duct tape !.
Because our contract is almost up, I was looking on AHW website and noticed $250 allowance for code violations, etc., etc. I called to ask about it and complained that we had paid $375 - - I was informed that the allowance has to be ASKED FOR, it isn't automatic at all, and the lady did not know why I paid #375 to Dos Amigos. I asked if I could get a refund, and was met with a pause then "No, we don't know what they did". I said it was incompetency to the max, it was deceitful advertising, false information and a rip-off and that I hoped she would inform her boss or whomever might have some clout, that they should know about this occurrence, that the contract would not be renewed and that I will surely be vocal to spread the word about their shoddy policies.

We had the Allied warranty plan covering our pool. Our heater went out and we made the call to Allied Home Warranty. They sent the pool repair man immediately and he replaced a part in the electrical panel and the blower as they were out of service. The pool repair man mentioned that the blower could not be fixed and that a new blower should has to be installed. They provided immediate replacement and quoted me a very less amount when compared to what I was expecting. Much of the replacement amount was handled by them. After which I did not face any problem with my pool. Their service was the best. If needing a home warranty plan, I recommend Allied Home Warranty. We got the usual coverage and added the pool option which allowed us to customize the coverage to suit our needs – love this! When we get an ice maker we’ll be adding that on too!

What's more shocking is that althought they in a way suspended my account since june 2009 wihtout informing me, allied home warranty kept charging my credit card for over a year for a home warranty service they never intended to honor and if the tenant did not place a service request today I would have never found out and they would have continued to charge my credit card without providing a service for years to come.

Beware of Allied Home Warranty. I had a problem with my air conditioner. To make a long story short, The two A.C. technicians from NRG that were sent out to repair the problem stated that since I had a faulty vent pipe that Allied would not be liable and I would have to pay. They stated that due to the faulty vent pipe, that moisture was allowed into the A.C. unit that caused the problem. So, I see that in at least one of the other complaints herein they pulled the same scam by using their technicians to make the fault yours so that Allied would not have to pay anything. There was nothing wrong with the vent pipe. I understand that the NRG company that scammed me for A.H.W. was formerly Lone Star which is also referenced in one or two of the complaints against A.H.W. I hope that everyone that gets ripped off by Allied finds this complaint section on the Web and writes abut their experience...

I have a home warranty through Allied Home Warranty. I didn't want one because I generally regard them as a scam, but I went ahead and let her buy it. So a few months later my water heater started leaking from all sorts of places. It needs to be replaced. The service guys they have contracted to come out want almost $600 from me to put in a new one. This is the most basic, 50 gal, electric water heater installation you could possibly ask for. The only part they need to add is a pan ($20 from Home Depot). And the money they are asking from me is "supposedly" after they are getting paid for the parts and labor for the new water heater. Maybe they take me for an idiot, but when retail cost for a new basic model water heater is $270 retail from Lowes and they charge about $280 labor to deliver and install (total = $550) it doesn't even come close to computing that I would have to pay so much.
I haggled over this with a service manager from Allied Home Warranty, then she agreed to have them drop the cost to me to $344. How am I still not getting screwed here? After telling them I could go buy a new water heater and put it in myself (maybe I should have done this already by now and not wasted my time with these tools) she told me that they wouldn't do that. The service manager even admitted that they would be paying over $400 to the plumber to put in a new water heater. So I asked them to reimburse me to just buy one and they refused!
That's right! Allied Home Warranty would rather LOSE MONEY and have you screwed for more money by their contract technicians than have both you and them save money by doing it yourself. By the way the technician they sent out confirmed that I do in fact need a replacement. So there is no question that they are obligated to pay for the replacement. They have never refused to do it. They are just hell bent on making themselves and me pay hundreds of dollars more than necessary.
Apparently the guys working there who have been doing such a good job at saving money for their company and screwing the customers are on vacation, and their replacements are to stupid to even try to save money they're just screwing the customers.
Home Warranty's are a crock! Stay away from Allied Home Warranty. They simply don't care about the customer. As proof, when I was talking to the service manager, she made a statement that she has to take care of the plumbing service company. At which point I had to cut her off and remind her that, no, she has to take care of me, I have the home warranty and I am their customer. I mean these guys are unbelievable!

Allied Home Warranty provides the best of customer service and is able to help me over the phone with troubleshooting tips. They saved me a service call just by providing true customer service. They worked with another company to replace my water heater which gave me a discount of a few hundred dollars. They fixed my problem without much effect to my finances. I got a feedback call from Allied once done up with my service. Allied truly attends all their customers with priority and offers the best service with transparent plans to cover all your repairs. Their customer service is available any time of the day and will resolve all your queries on time and also provide effective tips – I especially like being able to use my iphone to place a service request – huge bonus!.. I think Allied Home Warranty is a good option if you want to save dollars and get your repair or replacement done for any of your appliances at home.
They did the same thing to us on the Hot Water Heater and now pushed an "AC Tuneup" down our throats - AC checked out fine the day of the "tuneup" - now, 3 weeks later - the compressor blew up! The send the same guy out wanting $5000 of which they only pay $1350? BS! They obviously are getting kickback from their "chosen subcontractors" - they're not concerned about me - they're in cahoots with the subs to screw consumers!
what happened to the WARRENTY, you should only have to pay ONLY the labor, not for parts or replacement...or why buy the WARRENTY at all... right? I just dont get it with the warrenties and guarantees...we went through the same with the furnace...and warrenty issues...paying for parts and labor...just replace it and pay only the labor or a portion of...?

Submitted my request for repair of A/C unit. It went completely out in July...needless to say it was miserable. Did not receive call from their A/C company so I called them to set up appointment only to be told "they had no idea how long it would be before they were able to come by". Needless to say, it was July, over 100 degrees outside and unbearable. I called AHW and was given an SSA by a service rep. and was instructed to be very specific on the invoice and reminded me they only reimburse reasonable and customary prices. I called TWO companies and both advised it would cost MORE to replace the EIGHTEEN year old unit than to repair it. So...that's what I did. I submitted my invoice...waited 6 weeks...called to check on payment and was told I would get a call back. Seven weeks goes by...nothing. Called back FIVE times...finally I get Judy...who informs me that I "didn't follow proper procedure"! I followed exactly what I was told. SHE wasn't the one who gave me the SSA nor was she the one who told me what procedure to follow so how in the hell does she know what "procedure" or "instructions" I was given! Needless to say...they will reimburse me $170.00 for a fan motor when the invoice was over $2017.00...they are CROOKS and this home warranty business is a SCAM!

After 2 visits my AC is still not working and Allied Home Warranty is of little help. I will be canceling my service with them because they are all ###s and lack professionalism and skills. The people they send are highschool dropouts without any clue on how to fix an issue. I called in and told them my fuse box was smoking and my A/C fuse was tripped. They left without replacing the "smoking" fuse and I ended up replacing it myself because I got tired of waiting on them. 30 mins after they left and 1 hour of the technician BS'ing me I am still without A/C.

HVAC Contractors beware allied dont pay there bills they will run up a 25, 000. dollar bill and then give you the run around on paying there authorizations given by bryan, sheryl, Judy. Andrew White the president will even send you a letter stating why he thinks he should not have to pay his authorizations given by his managers. Some needs to regulate these companies they are stealing peoples money from the contractors and there customers that buy there warranty. I will be filing a civil suit and any other means to collect the money owed to my company.

Allied Home Warranty did an excellent job with my A/C repair. their vendor came out the same day (!) and repaired it on the spot. I would have spent over $300 but this repair only cost me the $60 trade call fee.
However, be careful to read your home warranty contract b/c I thought the evap coil cleaning was a covered item and it is only repairs and replacements are covered

I've never met or heard of anyone who had even an OK experience with Allied Jome Warranty. This is an example of a crime syndicate that rip poor Americans off without using guns. And yet they have an A+ rating on BBB! So, if they rip everyone off, who gives them this high rating? Here's what most people don't know about the BBB. The BBB is a for profit organization. Paid by the businesses registered with them, we often wrongly think that, by reporting the ripoff of companies, the BBB will give them a low rating. They don't. All the business needs to do is reply to your claim. To the BBB, the business has taken care of the issue, and they stay A+. So now you see how a fraudulent group like Allied warranty maintains its A+ rating.
This is how Allied Home Warranty operates. They sell you a premium warranty. They brag how their contract is simple, only one page. They say they cover AC, among others. Then they have a few clauses saying they do not pay for modifications. Great. Most of us don't intend to do any modifications anytime. Problem is, EVERY claim you make will not be properly covered because to Allied, almost every step to replace any part is "modification" They've carved their own definition of the word, and are using it to take your money but refuse to pay for your claims. This was exactly what they did to me and hundreds more. What we can do collectively, added to complaints to appropriate state and Federal government, is spread the word and boycot them.
I got AlliedHome Warranty as part of the closing of the house from the seller. Within 2 months of moving into the house, we had the A/C unit problem. When I called AlliedHome Warranty’s service they sent their technician immediately on my request. The evaporation coil in the A/C was to be fixed due to leakage. The technician provided immediate repair and I got much needed relief from the Texas heat. I just had to pay a small amount from my pocket and the rest was deducted from the insurance for the evaporation coil repair from Allied. With Allied Home Warranty service you will never need any second opinion. Allied Home Warranty is really worth and I would recommend all to go with their warranty plans.

I have paperwork stating from three contractors that the problem with my ac is not that it needs cleaned but the air handler has rusted and needs replaced. The contractor you sent to my house today was a joke and he told me if I paid him 500 to clean the unit then he would submit what was really wrong with the ac and get it replaced. Either way I have enough evidence against your company to support the fact that I say your a liar and you are just avoiding to cover a service I purchased. You are the one who has been rude to my wife and I so don't tell me how to act and contine to provide the worst customer service known to man. I unfortunately was not smart enough to do my research online about them before I purchased a home warranty and I was scammed to waste my hard earned money on something I was sure would help me but in the end hindered me beyond belief. I was suspicious about Lone Star because Allied kept insisting to send them to my home and I did not think much of it. Now after reading all the helpful reviews I understand why... They are affiliated and also a horrible scam. Lone Star was sent to my home quite a few times and each and every time they over charged me for sure. The last time they were sent was on a heater issue in which they claimed I needed this and that and my head just hurt with all the nonsense. They attempted to charge me $4000! I canceled the warranty and unfortunately could not get any not a penny back not even the trade call fee from that visit. My wonderful neighbor offered to look at my issue himself and he applauded me for canceling the warranty because he fixed my problem for $140! Yes $140 vs the outrageous $4000 Lone Star and Allied were trying to charge me! You should be ashamed of yourselves Allied and Lone Star! I will be putting away money on the side incase another issue happens but will never trust Allied again. Tthey have left a foul taste in the world of home warranty. To top it off the customer service was bad and worse and worse every time from the representatives stupidity to the managers never available or returning your calls. Mrs Gloria was however helpful and very polite and nice but never did I get a return call from Judi on the issue I had with my dishwasher last year I just kept getting sent to her voicemail box. All I wanted was to get in return the service I was promised when I purchased the home warranty but I struggled anytime I called and needed assistance. People do your research before you do something stupid as me and purchase a home warranty with Allied!
Please file complaints with the agency the licenses Allied Home Warranty, the Texas Real Estate Commission. Look at their website about filing complaints against companies licensed under their Residential Service Company Program. Please file a complaint each and every time Allied Home Warranty does not honor their contract. The TREC likely won't do anything, but we need to get every complaint on file and it forces Allied to respond to every complaint. In my case Allied gave them a different reason for denying my claim than they gave me.

Allied Home Warranty refused to honor its "One-page contract" and repair my plumbing problem. Why do they have a "One-page contract?" Because it is vague and allows them to refuse to honor repair requests at their discretion. Allied's affiliated contractor is NRG Home Services. NRG and Allied are owned by the same company. It even states so on their website. NRG put a temporary clamp on the leak and said Allied only covered three feet of pipe (you won't see that in the One-page contract). He said I needed more extensive repairs and they would not be covered by Allied, but that NRG would do them for $8, 400 dollars and would even be so kind as to offer financing. The NRG employee also said Allied would condemn my plumbing and no longer cover any plumbing repairs in the future. My home was inspected by a licensed inspector less than two months ago and the plumbing passed inspection. Allied said repairing or replacing pipes is a "modification" and their contract doesn't cover modifications. So, replacing or repairing anything can be considered a modification and is therefore not covered if it would cost Allied too much money to fix. Allied Home Warranty has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. How do they get an A+ rating? They pay to be a member of the BBB and the BBB doesn't want to rate their members low. It hurts their business model. Business would not pay to be a BBB member if they got a low rating. Here is the response I got to my complaint with the BBB for Allied Home Warranty failing to make the repairs required by their contract. They didn't even send a copy of the complaint to Allied.

Please understand policies are not required to be posted in the stores or on receipts in the State of Texas. It is very important that consumers ask a lot of questions prior to purchasing a product or use a service to ensure that they understand the company's refund/return/exchange policy clearly.
You may wish to pursue your issue through the court system. The number for Small Claims Court information in Harris County is 713.755.5137.
The BBB has not notified the other party in question but will keep your letter on file. We sincerely hope you can find another way to resolve your dispute."-
It should be noted that Allied Home Warranty's "One-page contract" prohibits you from filing a lawsuit against them (small claims court). It requires you to go through arbitration instead.

Nope, no fine print. Just vague language that lets them define any part of the contract in any manner that saves them money. There are No Dollar Limits because they just deny coverage if it costs them too much. Also notice how they capitalize No Dollar Limits. That is because they are using it as a legal term, not to mean there are actually no dollar limits. There is a reason other companies have multi-page contracts. It requires them to do cerstain things and gives the consumer legal protection.

So they send out their own company to evaluate claims and make repairs. This is a clear conflict of interest and it is the reason insurance companies are prohibited from requiring you to use their repair people. That restriction doesn't apply to "warranty" companies.
I have read several of these complaints and agree with all of them. We purchased a home a yr ago and bought the Allied Home Warranty plan. We wanted to feel secure that if anything did go out we were covered. We felt comfortable that we would not really need the coverage because most of the more expensive items were relatively new. Our AC unit was practically brand new. None the less, noticed the other morning that Ac wasnt cooling the house. I looked at it and noticed ice on one of the pipes and called in a claim. The contractor showed up on time and was very professional. He stated that i had a leak in the Evaporator coil but the big problem was the leak found in the TXV in the compressor unit outside. The next morning i get a work performed receipt that say i will have to pay $1, 080.00. WHAT?
Wheres my warranty? what does Allied cover? You guessed in NOTHING. Now Hang on for their reasoning. They are saying its not covered because the parts are still under Mnfg warranty.? I'm thinking that should be good for Allied because no one has to pay for parts. Now, i asked what would you have paid if i had bought a home with 15 yr old AC unit and it went bad.. they said they would cover that -parts and all. I said that doesnt make any sense. Then they just act like robots and say the same thing over and over again. "We dont cover items covered under mfg warranty" i kept saying--YOUR NOT-- your covering what isnt------I went through this twice --asked for a supervisor-- both times they were not available and I had to leave messages. finally at the end of the day someone called me back and they were a worse broken record than the other two people. I again tried to esculate to another supervisor and the girl told me there was noone else above her. Now i know these people are not so stupid that they do not see how ridiculous and unethical what they are saying to me is. They have to know--i could make a child understand. i let them know i was planning to file a complaint with the TX Real Estate Comm. and may sue them. she seemed unwaivered--------after reading these posts------I see why. i am not the only one they have cheated and give a false sense of security. pathetic, they need to be forced out of business and held accountable for all the refused claims.

Had Allied Home Warranty for about 2 years. They replaced items on our pool, which was covered. Excellent.
Bad
Would not replace water heater that was 16 years old. Instead repaired it 4 times. Each time was a service charge for repairing it. They assured me it would fix it. Finally it last for 10 months, and they said it needed to be replaced. Repairman shows up and says it will be a $480.00 cost for "non-covered parts" I told him I wanted a detailed list of these parts that would cost $480. He wouldn't provide it. Told him I was calling the cops for fraud. He called Allied afraid to enter my home because he wouldn't get his money. Told him the cops would be here by then. Finally after speaking with Allied they said it is a standard cost (flat rate) for the parts. The guy installs my water heater, he replaced 2 small copper pipes with fittings. Could have bought these for less than $40.00 at Home Depot. Such a rip off. They will not have my business again.
I have had it with Allied home warranty company and all the other home warranty companies. These companies have an abysmal standard of service. All you end up paying for is a false peace of mind; when a problem actually arises, they simply send a flaky, dishonest contractor to your house to tell you that you have to pay to do everything, and then charge you to be told that. I think that it would be much more effective to compile a list of honest, reputable contractors.
I am thinking about filing a complaint to: Gregg Abbott, Texas Attorney General.

Why do the contractors you send out to my place always want to take money from me under the table and tell me something different every time? I have had three contractors out from your company and they all try to screw me, the one you sent today asked me to pay him 500 to clean my ac then he would submit to you what was really wrong, this is not acceptable. I need my AC FIXED NOW and don’t need any more money stolen from me by your company or the contractors you use, this is total BS! I am not paying 500 for a guy to clean my ac then have it replaced. I have paperwork stating my unit was cleaned and maintenance done to it the first of this year and I have had it taken care of every year so this is a complete scam and I am tired of Allied wasting my time! I have had no ac for the past month because of your lousy service and I want something done ASAP!
I am writing to say your company has stolen monies from my family and I. Allied has lied, cheated, and sold false services to the American people including myself and my family. We thought buying a home plan thru you was a wise decision but in reality we were throwing our money away. I have purchased three warranty plans from your company to cover three of my four homes and finally had to use your service and let me tell you I am so upset and mad at the way your employees run your business. They have lied to me over and over again for weeks promising to fix my ac that went out. I have emails and proof, then they denied me any help and told me to go away. I have been treated so terrible by your company and have told all my family and friends that are with you to cancel and go to another company. You have lied to me and the Better business bureau. I have proof that Allied lies to their customer and will bring this to the public if my problems are not resolved immediately!
I want my ac fixed like you promised me it would be taken care of! If you cannot do this then I want ll my money back from all three of my properties, I want a full refund over the past several years I have paid you coverage then you lie to me and deny the coverage I paid for. This is unacceptable!

I have been sold a false service, I have filed complaints with the BBB, I have contacted my attorney and will soon file a small claim against your company and sue you for the maximum amount. You sent an email to the BBB and me saying you would cover my repairs to my condo then you turn around and tell me that you will not. I have been lied to many times by your company and have all the evidence I need to sue you for every cent back! I demand FULL REFUNDS on every property so I can take my business somewhere else!
Please notify the president or CEO of your unworthy ethics, your false promises, emails, and lies to me will be uncovered in court if you do not fix this problem immediately, fix my property or provide me with a full refund IMMEDIATELY!
I have your warranty coverage on three of my four homes and yet you deny me the service you promise and don’t appreciate being promised a warranty and then when I need to use it you deny what I pay for. I would appreciate you taking care of me or I may have to cancel all three of my current warranty plans on all properties and request a full refund of all monies paid to you over the past as well as a formal complaint with the better business bureau.
I have been happy with your service until now just because you talked me into covering my condo now you will not cover something because it broke, this is not a way to run a business and if you don’t honor what you sold me then I want a full refund! The company sucks.. I am an honest pool technician and took care of one of their customers 3 months ago, spent my own money on the parts covered under the warrenty, still no check. They give all their contractors the run around with payments...horrible company

THEY R NOT a member of BBB in Houston (Only in Denton TX) but they'r using the BBB Logo on their ENTIRE web site! I notified BBB!
I also sent letters to the TX AG, Fox News, BBB, Legal Shield, TX Consumer Protection etc.

On Sep 15th 2012, my A/C compressor went out. I have an Allied Home Warranty since Sep 2009 and it covers the A/C up to $1, 500 plus $250 extra upgrade I have.
They sent me 1of their A/C vendors (Lone Star) I paid them the $60 service call and, quoted me $3, 499.00 to replace the outside unit. (2.5 Ton, 13 Seer, R-22) Allied will pay them $1, 750 on my behalf, and I was told to pay the difference balance of $1, 749
I have asked 2other service companies to give me an estimate and, both were in the area of $1, 875 to $1, 950 but, they said they'll do it for what Allied is paying out ($1, 750)
I wrote Allied and asked them to pay me the $1, 750 but they refused saying, that I have to use one of their vendors or, they'll pay nothing if I go outside their vendor list.
I told them that they are GAUGING me, forcing me to pay double the market value & that I have estimates that reflect that. They asked me to submit to them the other 2estimates. I did, and they reduced my out of pocket expense by $500 to $1, 249.
I told them that since then, I have 2other outside companies who will do it for $1, 300/1, 400 and I can do it WITHOUT Allied, but that's not the reason I pay for a warranty.
They said that they have other vendors, and they told me that I'll have to pay ANOTHER $60 service call for them to come out. I told them that ALL other estimate I got was, on the ph, they do not need to come out since, and the unit has 2b replaced! Not FIXED!
I asked to talk 2the General mgr Judy but could not connect (She did call me back & left a msg, but when I called, they connected me w/Antonio) I asked the service mgr Antonio to email me the reduced out of pocket offer & he refused, saying that I got it over the ph & that's enough.
To no avail, in the meantime, yesterday I had 2purchase a portable A/C unit & borrow one from a next door neighbor.
I think they are taking advantage of their members. I asked Antonio how come they allow their vendors to double the going market rate? Allied supposed 2get a better than market rate for the volume they give 2the service provider, they supposed 2protect our interest from gauging. If we as members can get the SAME unit for less than our OUT OF POCKET, we do not need them!
His reply was the quality of work, and the risk issue! I replied that, there is no risk, all of the companies give a certain amount of labor warranty & then, the Mfg warranty kicks in.
He replied: But if I use an outside vendor & there is a fire, Allied will be liable!
I replied: So how come Allied paid me directly to go get my own vendor to install a dishwasher? He said, that is a minor appliance! I said that, this is a principal practice & this appliance can catch on fire just as much as an A/C unit!
Our contract forces us 2use arbitration but, the Atty General should look into their practices & investigate if they are actually paying their vendors the amounts they said they do or, they are getting a kick back!
I have had an incident with them in the past when, they asked me to pay little over a $1, 000 to replace my Air Handler, I refused & after I sent them a letter from my Atty, they cut it in half.
This practice has 2get the Media & Government attention 2a wide spread wrong industry practices.
It's hot, it has been over 10 days and I still don't have a working A/C!
