On January 29 a sales rep from SupaGlazing came to my home and gave me a quote for a conservatory. I wasn't entirely sure about placing an order but was told I had 7days to cancel if I changed my mind, so i went ahead and paid £1.000 deposit by credit card. However the following day I did have second thoughts so I rang the company and cacelled. I got called back twice with a reduced offer, but i declined.
When I received my credit card statement on Feb18 I was very upset to see the £1.000 i had paid to SupaGlazing had not been refunded. I rang SupaGlazing and spoke to a Mrs Jones (director) who told me I would have to pay expenses.
I then sought advice from Consumer Direct. They informed me i was entitled to my full deposit back and that i should have been given written cancelation rights, and failure to provtde these rights is an offence, which means the contract is not enforceble.
My credit card company are now dealing with this dispute, and I have sent letters to SupaGlazing asking them to refund the £1.000. The only responce ive had from them is an invvoice for £249.99. Apparently this is for the Sales Rep fees, and if i don't pay they will issue me with a Court Summons.
I wrote back saying that when i was given a quote for a conservatory, i was led to believe it was free, it does stste this in the yellow pages advert. I told them i do not intend to pay these expenses and i will not be bullied or threatened into doing so.
I think the public should be made aware about this company, and i do wonder how many other people SupaGlazing have forced into buying their goods
I only asked for a quote but ended up with a load of hassle, £1.000 on my credit card and a bill for £249 99.
What a load of rubbish.
Firstly Supaglazing does not fit in the united states it is a local family run business in strood kent u.k
secondly we have been trading for over thirty years we do NOT knock door to door we do NOT telephone canvass we get all our business from advertiseing and recomendations from our 50, 000 customers.
If a customer cancels a order we will refund the deposit there will only be charges if the surveyor has surveyed the property and we have started manufactering the windows.
this storey is nonsense and is not a customer from supaglazing it is a smeer tactic from a rival company.
Our contracts are very clear and it has a section on cancelations and refunds.
I have spoken to Mrs. Jones sales director and she threatened to report me because I told them I was leaving a negative review, as there windows have drafts and massive gaps, plus sliding doors have massive gap in them at the top, the office girl and sales director mrs jones is rude and wished never went to this company.
I have also had a lot of trouble with Supaglazing and the attitude described was very similar.
My problem is on going and is now being handled by the credit card company
What a charming bunch they are - the 'family business'...Yes I have been threatened by a director. Have just discovered my windows are 12cm too short either side and the awful gaps has been filled with one sheet of newspaper (according to family business man, foam was not used in 2000 yet my windows have tad of foam but obviously newspaper was the filler of choice. Clearly the foam fairy must have been in since to apply the sparse foam that is present. These huge gaps according to Mr. family business are where my sashes used to be - so why were they not replaced with window? When first fitted the child locks did not work, and they came back and replaced them, leaving original drill holes in my window frame...Didn't work and I had to stop the cheque - abuse rampant at that point...Second time they came back was because something had cracked above one of my windows...According to them this was subsidence - altthough the only problem is at the top of the window and a structural surveyor has since confirmed no subsidence. Fobbed off time and time again...
