Marvin windows and delivery practices
In March 2023 I ordered and paid for 3 windows from Marvin through one of their dealers at a cost of over $11,000. I was told delivery was running about 18 to 20 weeks which was why i purchased in March and did not wait until summer. At about 18 weeks as I was confirming the carpenter and painter for install I call Marvin's dealer who after calling Marvin...

I used all Marvin windows and sliding door in my new build, which was finished in November 2021. The sliding door did not work properly. It did not slide, came out of the track, and would not lock. Additionally, the screen on the door was impossible to open. It refused to stay in its track, and we were finally forced to hammer a wood strip along the edge of...

The company is quick to sell you windows but there is no follow up or service. My home was broken into and the glass in a one-light door was smashed by the burglars.
I have been trying to get a quote from Marvin for repair or replacement of the door for the last 6 weeks without any results. The will not deal with the consumer directly. I was referred to their dealers who replied that they can't help me. My whole home was fitted with Marvin Windows and Doors, so I can't use anything else at this point.
Desired outcome: I'd like a quote and a process to replace or repair my door

Marvin patio doors
This is a new construction home. I used the best and highest priced Marvin windows and doors. These are sliders Big. 5X8 4 panels. If the Marvin repairman has been there once hes been there 10 times. Last time he tried to pass the buck on framer. I had him come back and laser them. They were correct according to plans from Architect. I have had it. I have socks and towels to help with the window air leaking. When we had our big snow storm in Dec. The snow was literally coming through the seams of the frames. Yes the seams not the tracks. (It was coming through there also hence the towels in the tracks) You can also see the locking mechanism. This is not right. They sure didnt look like this in the catalog. He told me there is a few gaps that are permiseable. No way! I called Marvin headquarters over 2 weeks ago. Left my name my number with them. Not a recording. A Receptionist. She said they would call me back that day. They never did. These were built during Covid. I have a feeling they missed a few steps. Want replacements,

Replace or repair my window with the same model.
Why I will not buy Marvin Window Products and neither should you.
In 2004 we renovated our kitchen, replacing three windows and one door with Marvin Windows. At the time we purchased Marvin because I felt they were high quality. Marvin’s website says, “We are committed to design that is as functional and intuitive as it is beautiful. Crafted with exceptional skill, our products deliver quality you can see, touch, and feel, the beauty that brings joy, and performance that stands the test of time.“
My view of the ‘test of time’ for windows that I put in my home is a long time, decades. Apparently, Marvin’s test is dramatically shorter. Less than 20 years after installation I noticed that the window had rotted all the way through the frame. I am not sure how many years it took to decay, but clearly it did not happen overnight. Their test of time failed quickly. I called Marvin and was told that the warranty is only 10 years.
I understand how warranties work and asked for Marvin’s help repairing the window. They said they would not offer any help since they no longer make the model. I called dozens of companies and was told these Marvin windows were not repairable. I am left with one window out of six that failed out of warranty but clearly started failing years ago before the warranty had expired. I now need to replace all of my kitchen windows in order to have a consistent look.
I thought that maybe this is a one-time issue and not very widespread. It turns out Marvin lost a class action lawsuit on this very issue. https://www.yourlawyer.com/construction-defects/marvin-windows-lawsuit/. Apparently, their product team feels they can continue to turn out products that do not stand the test of time.
Marvin’s marketing department may tell you they are committed to a lot of things but it is clearly a lot of marketing and they do not stand behind the actual quality of their windows. So when you look to purchase windows for your home my strong recommendation is to look at anyone other than Mavin.
Sliding glass doors
Last year, we replaced two sliding glass doors on our home. The cost for the doors and installation was $12,000! One door works fine, the other will not shut properly. The dealer came out twice trying to fix it and reduce the squealing sound when it opens and shuts. Finally, they said, Marvin would have to have their distributed come out to replace or repair. I've been waiting 3 months with no call to set up an appointment.
Desired outcome: Repair or replace the door
Product, warranty, extremely slow customer response and replacement of defective windows.
My principal Jose Suarez lakehouse in Connecticut (102 S Shore Road, Salisbury, CT 06068) has 5 defective windows where the seals failed and the windows are cloudy. Have been trying to resolve this for going on 2 years, covid did hamper the process some, but I have not been updated or reached out to in months. Case # [protected]

Started new chain of emails dated 7/13/2021 with Rick Daley on this unresolved window failures. My principal recently purchased over $200, 000 of Marvin windows/doors in Florida so we are a faithful customer needing help ASAP
Desired outcome: Replacement of 5 windows to the original specifications
driver
I'm writing to let you know that one of your drivers (semi) was very reckless on the road today. On HWY 55 (between Rockford and Buffalo, MN) they sped up and passed a vehicle by using the turn lane to get around them. HWY 55 is already so dangerous. A semi driver killed our friend on this HWY 3 weeks ago by driving into his lane.
What he did was extremely dangerous, uncessary and very illegal.
Just passing the word on.

Poor window construction, leaks air and noise from the street, was supposed to cure both problems, it did neither. Don't buy Marvin.
We had one Marvin window insert replaced by a complete Marvin window. Double hung, 40" x 50", Infinity, STC/OITC, LOE 366 W/Argon, The noise from the street traffic is just as loud as before replacement. The gap between the double window's inner pane and the outer pane was less than the replaced insert. Supposed thicker outer glass does not help to reduce the noise. Would like to return the window. The installation by our local company was excellent, however the window is subpar and cost $1, 600. installed. How should I proceed to get refund for the window cost?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Sliding patio door leaks
We have an 8' W x 80" H sliding patio door that faces the water side of Green Bay. I have to tape the edges where the window and the door jam meet to keep snow and rain from blowing in.This is an NWWDA grade 60 door. Can this unit be fixed? Is there a storm door that will fit this? Van's Lumber tried to repair this unit last summer. It was installed in 1997.
Non operable sliding doors and leaking windows
We selected Marvin windows for our retirement home and have had the rep come out several times and adjust the sliding doors. This adjustment does not hold on two of the seven sliding doors that were installed. There are only two elderly people living here so there is no abuse. The insulation strip at the bottom of the sliders are creeping out, even after repair I have one that continues to come out. We have a custom made window leaking. Even when the rep comes here, he admits there is a problem, but Marvin does nothing and makes no suggestions.
Bad sales and service
The salesman told us our windows were eligible for the 30% tax credit only to find out after our order was placed with 50% down that they were not. No apologies or anything. Many of our existing Marvin windows need service and after three calls and inspections I just gave up. The product maybe be acceptable to some folks, but the service for me is horrible.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Very difficult to open sliders. We purchased over 28,000 dollars of casement windows, patio doors, gliding windows. Shipped via King Lumber to West Harrison ny.
All of the Marvin windows in my Houston home (circa 2001) have had to be replaced due to wood rot. The windows were kept painted. The wood used in the construction of these windows was basically no good. All of my neighbors have had the same problem with their Marvin windows.
Poor performance
I too have been taken in by Marvin windows. But in this case, over 200 windows. 80% of the windows leak air and water at the bottom corners and along the sides. Its not the installation but the windows themselves. They are rated high but in the real world fail miserably. They are made poorly with little or no tolerance factor. Wide gaps along the sides, poor sealing capabilities along the bottom, I don't know how they passed the government standards indicated in their brochure unless payola was involved. These double hung units can't even stop a 20mph wind. Save yourself the money and buy something else. Their service dept. is useless and they really don't care about their product and how it is perceived to the general public. Save yourself the aggrivation, time, and overpriced cost.
Anyone that knows anything about windows will realize that this is obviously an installation issue. My mom has marvins in her house and has no issues at all. Any good window (marvin, andersen etc will not leak if its installed properly. The problem is the average homeowner doesnt know what to look for in a bad install. Marvin windows are pretty much considered the highest quality you can get. Whoever put your windows in did a very bad job.
Stay away
I have Marvin windows circa mid 90's that have completely deteriorated. They are true divided light windows with a type of vinyl/plastic over wood. The bonding between the plastic material and wood has separated and allowed water to leak in over time rotting out the sills and frames. The only option is to completely replace all the windows in the house at 4 times the expense of the original installation. In contrast my neighbor installed similar Anderson windows which are as good as they day they went in. Marvin has been of no help in rectifying the problem except to try and sell me new windows. I would look to other makers if considering Marvin.
Don't waste your time OR money! This company sells Alside products. Alside tried to hide under a different name, Associated Materials inc, aka AMI. They only make two products, windows and siding, both of which are terrible. There is not one good thing said about Alside anywhere on the net. Alside has a class action suit on their siding and there is currently another class action suit being pursued on their windows. If you install these products through you will regret it, plan on replacing them in the next year and wasting some more money. Just google it, I'm sure you will find the same elsewhere.
Marvin has never used vinyl as a cladding material. Also andersen does not make true divided light windows.
Bad window quality
Only 15 years after installation, 5 of my 8 Marvin windows need to be replaced because the frames, sills and even some sashes, have rotted. The only 3 that don't need replacement are located under a porch roof.
I purchased the windows with Marvin's now discontinued "Flexicron" finish. During shipping the Flexicron finish cracked at the seams. Marvin sent several representatives to check out the problem. They all agreed that there was a problem but no one ever came to fix the windows and thus Marvin did not stand behind its product.
Because of the Flexicron finish I never noticed that the frames were rotting until after my warranty had expired. Imagine my surprise when, during the process of power washing the house to prepare for painting, I watched the window frames disintegrate. The Marvin representative that I than contacted expressed his sadness over my misfortune and kindly offered to sell me some new frames.
A 150 year old house that still has most of its original windows and the Marvin windows didn't even last 15 years.
Don't be taken in by the glossy ads of beautiful windows in expensive houses. Those windows were indeed beautiful, but at Marvin, beauty is only skin deep.
