Gameplay Review
Hey, I first wanted to start off and say that you created a great game, it runs smoothly and there is no glitching or errors while in game. I’m only on stage four at the moment but so far it is enjoyable and challenging. For anyone else that may be thinking of getting this game, you totally should. It’s addicting and fun. There are a few things I wish were different or even should be added into the game to change the dynamic flow of the game. FYI if any of these suggestions or ideas are already in the game, please note that I’m still in on stage four so I haven’t seen what the rest of the game has to offer and these ideas may be in the game already.
- First, I would suggest to add a boss progress bar to show how many bosses were killed and how many are left, indicating when the game will end. Second, you added a timer to the game which is a nice touch but it doesn’t do much when the game already has a set limit for each stage. So there should be an option added on the screen for an endless mode, once the final boss has been defeated. And during this endless mode the ability to earn and collect coins will be taken away just like it is in the trials game mode. Lastly in the endless mode, the player should be allowed to continue to upgrade their selected skills while the NPCs and the bosses continue to gain health and attack damage.
- Second, it would cool and challenging if there was a boss or mob that has the ability to remove one of the skills obtained during the game. Once the skill is taken away, the player is given the option to acquire a new skill set and level it up.
- Third, there should be a set of objectives that the player has to complete to be able to maybe unlock certain power ups, new skills, new stages, or even just to complete the level.
All in all this is a great game and these are some suggestions that I believe will change the dynamic of the game and make it more challenging and fun for anyone who plays it. If you end up reading this, thank you and I hope you take these ideas into thought and maybe even add them into your game.
This game does not deserve the bad reviews
I have been playing this game for almost two months and I love it. It is a great game that deserves only good reviews. And in that time I have gotten to level 42 and chapter 23. This game is actually very challenging and requires a lot of skill to pass the higher levels. Most of the reviews 3 stars and below say it needs more balancing, but they just don’t have the patience or skill to play the game. On level 18 and up I basically get 3 shot by the bosses. And it requires patience to pass them and skill because I have to continuously run around dodging every shot. This game requires more skill than you might think from a one-control game. I think the levels are fine how they are.
The only balancing I would suggest would maybe add a little more health and ATK to armor pieces. And also make it easier to level them up, because right now it is very hard to level up armor. I also think that you should be able to choose the option of the level being 8 minutes or 15 because right now it just takes too long to pass a few levels. Because I’d you could pick the length, then if you need the upgrades, then you can make it longer so you get more evolutions. Or if it’s the challenge levels you can make it 8 minutes so it’s faster. But I’m pretty sure that if you kill the monsters fast enough you can spawn the bosses at 2 minute intervals so it’s a eight minute level but I use the light chaser so I need evolutions before I can kill a lot of monsters.
Another suggestion I would like to make would be clubs. I feel like every other game has them and they would make this game way funner. You could compete against other clubs in various tasks such as, killing the most zombies, completing mini levels, collecting the most xp orbs. I feel like having a club with a chat and a list of all the players in it work their level and chapter they are on would make this game so much better because you have a way of actually showing your stats. And I also would like a leaderboard. I know this probably won’t be added but you should still consider it because it would make the game 10x better.
Thank you for making such a great game.
Blatant and obvious ripoff
(I’m only giving this game 5 stars in hopes that more people will see this review.)This game is just a worse version of vampire survivors the team who made this game don’t even try to hide it. To give an idea guardian is just king Bible forcefield is just garlic boomerang is just cross etc. the evolutions in the game are in the same boat too. Survivor.io has no way shape or form of balance in the either and the runs you end up doing feel exactly the same after or first or second run because there are not that many weapons to choose from as most of the weapons are stuck in the equipment menu which no one really switches to because you are obviously going to use you strongest gear you have. Not to mention that once the equipment menu is unlocked most of the balancing the game has is completely destroyed, and to make matters worse is that the game loves to cram micro transactions and ads in your mouth every 2 seconds and to add insult to injury they force you to be connected to the internet to do any form of progression (so they can cram ads and micro transactions) to make the game absolute garbage it is extremely pay 2 win as they give you a lot of good gear but then you find out that the good gear they give you ends up only getting you through 2 levels before you struggle they then proceed to run salt into the wound by giving you the illusion of getting good gear but then proceed to make the quest to get good gear require an entire day of grinding to accomplish which requires energy which requires you to spend gems to fill which will more then likely require you to buy said gems with actual money. Not even mention the art style which looks like a 2 year old made the art for the game. If you want a game that is actually well made and doesn’t actively try to make you pay money and just simply let you play the game you should check out vampire survivors instead it is free you can get it on console and pc and is just 10 times better than this literal dumpster fire of a game. This game shouldn’t be as popular as it is. (switch to most critical to see that I’m not the only one also pretty sure the top reviews are paid)
Very addicting game however, needs a big of tweaks
I’ve been playing Survivor.io since it came out. I am level 78, Chapter 56. Game is amazing all throughout, don’t think anything Habby is doing at the moment has been bad but I think there are a couple tweaks I would do to make it even better. I love the idea of grinding for your gear. For example I love the idea of getting whatever S grade equipment you need in the events I believe that is a amazing way for a free to play player to earn S grade equipment without spending money and you guys should continue with that. However I think the battle pass is amazing but I believe it should give you either a S grade random equipment or any S grade equipment of your choosing. I just think for someone especially spending $20 a month should have that option. Especially if you are free to play you can earn a S grade equipment just by saving gems or playing the game within a month or so, you should be able to get multiple Epic gears anyway. It’s a great option but I think S grade equipment would be more worth the hassle of grinding to 30 tiers. Also talking about equipment I think there should be an option as well to merge Excellent equipment to a S tier Equipment or even just if you open enough S tier chests you should be able to choose what S tier gear you want. Now I know that sounds like a lot but I have spend a fair amount of money and have way too many Excellent gears, and with the whole RNG base of the chests you could get a duplicate and that’s rather frustrating, can only imagine a free to play player. Especially with the fact that you would have to merge 6 S grades to finally get to legend fusion. Another thing I think should be improved should be another way to spend gold, currently sitting on 22 million with almost nothing to really spend it on besides the shop, equipment, and evolve tree but I still manage to have way more gold than I think I should have. I don’t know if this is a bug or not as well but the game can go to full screen mode when it wasn’t able to before and I hope you guys fix that. Habby games you are killing it so far continue what you guys are doing but those are my thoughts on the game so far.
Fun mechanics and art, progression and midgame/lategame need improvement
The lore of Survivor.io is starting to pick up, and the game mechanics are fun to see in action. The given items, the evolution weapons, and the different enemies encountered have made my experience spicy for the first 11 chapters I’ve played, having this app for 8 days now. However, I took a look at some later gameplay videos on YouTube and I started to have some concerns, but ideas as well.
The first thing I noticed is the amount of gear you need to reach the “Legend” rating on one piece of equipment requires almost 1,300 normal pieces of equipment of that type. Now, they don’t have to be the same kind of shoes or gloves because of how Excellents and Epics are merged, but obtaining pieces of gear is rather slow where without spending gems, I would get about 1-2 a day at the start, and now just about 3-5 gear a day. And if you do want to spend gems on equipment, the normal boxes value to 80 gems for 1 piece, and EDF values to ~ 74 gems for 1 piece and the x10 EDF values to ~65 gems for 1 piece. Since there’s no bigger value than that, 1 piece of Legend equipment costs over 70,000 gems, or $500. While that could be how the game grosses money, the value you get out of that is way lower than the money or time you spend to obtain that. The game does give free gems, Ive been able to gather over 6,000 gems for free, but without progression or special events, you will only be able to get 100 gems at most each day.
I gave this a 4-star review because I see a lot of potential in this game, but the long-term execution is poor. In the gameplay chapters, there are only 3 types of stages you play on, an infinite open space (Starts Chapter 1), an infinite Vertical space (Starts Chapter 4) and a closed space (Starts Chapter 3) every 5 chapters, the environment changes (like City to Forest to Desert), but they only appear to be cosmetic changes and the environments do not actually affect the gameplay, which I felt was a missed opportunity as they could have had large obstacles the player couldn’t get across or a patch of land that would slow the player down. I felt like adding new mechanisms in chapters would make the game more rewarding.
Besides that, I think my only complaint is with the gear, the gold is distributed very well. I would like to see new event types as the gold rush felt stale after the 6th day, and perhaps easier ways to get hands on Better, Excellent, and Epic gear/weapons.
This game contains a large collection of enemies and has great bosses, some fun, some annoying, just how bosses should be! This is a freemium game, so I will tell you the enemies get tougher and stronger so you will need to have stronger gear, but it is a good game. It’s not a great game YET, but I believe it can be.
Fun, Almost Great
Survivor.io is very fun. The game’s progression systems are nearly identical to the developer’s other title, Archero, but the gameplay is very different, likely having strong influences on the recent Vampire Survivors. After numerous hours of play, min-maxing skill combinations and equipment, the game retains its initial fun factors, but reveals some underlying bugs, limitations, and extreme nuisances. The game would be great if these issues were fixed, as they drastically diminish gameplay performance and the fair play metric.
As players progress, the game reveals new item functions and skills to experiment with. Initially, the Molotov was among my favorite in-game skills to use, especially once it leveled up to its maximum value, essentially adding a high damage output shield around the character and continued to burn for a good duration. Unlocking the mines provided a great means of experimentation and excitement. Timid to give such a skill a chance, maxing the skill proved it to be among the most powerful in the game. Since the mines and Molotovs both leave fire on the ground after impact, combining the two seemed like the perfect opportunity to synergize with passive skills that increased the duration of damaging effects, especially with the black hole gun equipped. Unfortunately, with mines equipped, other skills may disappear from the current run’s build altogether. For example, increasing the Molotov’s level to 5 stars while the mines are equipped causes the Molotovs to completely disappear from the build, essentially removing it from the build, significantly dropping massive damage output, and wasting six levels of skill selections. This also happened with the lightning tower skill and the white missile drone. With no mention of the game or access to the developer website’s support page from a mobile device, this seemed the best place to report the issue.
While fun, the game does have some significant points of annoyance. While all six equipped passive skills will level up to maximum before the end of the longer matches, never will the weapon and all five primary skills do the same. After getting 3 primary skills to max, the chance to upgrade a fourth drops to about a 10% chance, as the game tries to force players into passives. A strict cutoff applies to leveling the primary skills at level 39-40. After reaching level 40, players can add and upgrade passive skills to their max, but will never be afforded the opportunity to upgrade primaries any further in the current match. If all the passive skills reach max stars by in-game level 40, while some primary skills lag behind, all future level ups and skill lotteries lock out to provide healing meats, only. While this lockout is a nuisance, having to wait for and click through all the level-up meat selects and meat lotteries is terrible. Since the game has limits and will not allow players to actually maximize their builds, removing this annoying selection is a must for player retention.
Again, the game is loads of fun. It could be great, like Archero, if a few of the bugs and rule blocks were fixed or replaced. Until then, Survivor.io retains a solid 3/5.
Very fun but unplayable
This is quite the mixed bag here. I don’t really know where to behind to be honest. It’s a very fun game, but it’s also impossibly broken, which is why I’m making this review in the first place.
First, what the game does right. This game is super fun and addicting, fighting wave after wave of zombies with ridiculous weapons is so satisfying. They constantly bombard you with opportunities to collect both in game currencies so you don’t have to outright buy them, there aren’t any pop up ads, the game is fluid and engaging. What this game does right, it does flawlessly
Now, what the game does bad. For context, in this game items are either really good or really horrible, there is no in between. Example, guardians and the force field are really good weapons, but the bricks and the rpg are horribly atrocious. Why does this matter? Well because collecting equipment and weapons is all based on RNG, which is basically the algorithm that determines what could happen. In the case of this game, it’s determining what weapons/equipment will be offered to you when you level up. It’s a solid game mechanic when it works, but the problem is it doesn’t. You’re either incredibly lucky or horribly unlucky. It seems whenever you install the game for the first time the game spins a wheel for you deciding whether or not you’ll have a good experience. I got unlucky, and my bf was also unlucky, until he had to replace his phone/account and all of a sudden had the good luck RNG. Allow me to compare experiences.
I am currently level 23 and have not even made it to the final boss of stage 7. My bf is level 18 and beat level 7 on his first try
Nine out of ten times when I start the game I get stuck with the rpg, bricks, and boomerang as my first options, and even if I manage to get good weapons the game won’t offer them to me again until I max out the bad ones. When my bf starts a game he’s always offered the lightning, force field, and guardians first, and is consistently offered upgrades for said weapons
We have been grinding this game for gems so we can buy S tier chests for better items. Even at level 23 I still have not received one shotgun despite opening over 50 chests and grinding each level multiple times. At level 18 my bf has received 4 different shotguns, one of which was already in the “excellent” tier, eventually he stopped grinding because he knows the game will just give him the best stuff it can offer.
I want to be able to call this an excellent game, but after being abused with bad weapons, terrible item drops, and just overall horrible RNG, I can’t. It feels like the game artificially increases its difficulty to actively prevent you from progressing through the game, which is a major buzz kill. If they balanced out the RNG to where everything is even and everyone has an equal platform in terms of item drops from chests and stages, I would say this is the best game on the App Store, like at all. It’s so fun and satisfying to play, but if the game decides it doesn’t want you to succeed it becomes a horrible experience. It got to the point that I deleted and reinstalled the game, but alas nothing changed. I hope this review helps.
Great game!
Honestly it’s so hard to find any good free mobile games that don’t spam you with ads, to the point where the game only feels like a method in which to present you with ads. So this game is a breath of fresh air. Gameplay is certainly at the forefront here and the player experience is definitely what matters. Ads are present but very few and far in between. In fact if I remember correctly (I took a break from playing this game for some bit so I kind of forgot) there really aren’t any ads at all unless you voluntarily view them in order to receive extra rewards or gain an extra life after you die.
The concept for this game isn’t really unique, there’s a lot of other games where the gameplay is pretty much the same: you start a level with a really wimpy weapon, enemies spawn and as you collect xp you can level up your gear or buy new gear, and as time progresses the enemies get stronger and more numerous. But that’s not a con, because the gameplay loop is fun and I think they do it very well (and really I’ve never seen this type of game before I played Survival io, so for all I know this game is the originator of the formula. Though again I could be wrong).
Lots of free to play games typically have 2 main ways to bring in revenue, either by submitting the player to ads every chance that they can or by having players use real word money to purchase some form of in-game currency that they can use in the game’s shop, either to buy items, cosmetics, or loot boxes. In some games this feels less optional than others because you need high power items to get anywhere in the game, so they sort of enforce a “pay-to-win” structure. And with loot boxes, this ads an element of gambling that can be very predatory if the player feels that they NEED high level items to progress in the game.
Thankfully enough, this is NOT the case for Survival io. There is an in-game shop, yes, and there are high value items in loot boxes. However, it never feels like I NEED those high value items to do well in the game. Since the game has a strong emphasis on matching different weapon types and upgrading your weapons, losing feels like a skill issue rather than punishment for not paying for high level gear.
That, coupled with the fact that playing the game gives you coins that you use to increase your stats as you level up, means that you don’t really need to use the shop at all if you don’t want to. As of right now I’ve reached level 12 and haven’t purchased a single item from the shop yet. What’s more is that the premium in-game currency that you use in the shop, these green gems, is actually incredibly easy to come by. The game gives you gems as rewards for logging in for consecutive days, completing in-game challenges (which there are A LOT of, seasonal events, and you even get 20 gems as a free daily redeemable item from the store. This is something that again, is sadly hard to come by these days: the game rewards you for playing the game. It’s pretty ingenious.
TL;DR: This is a really fun game that you can accidentally spend hours at a time playing if you aren’t careful. It’s devoid of many predatory or annoying monetization strategies that have become standard in the mobile space these days. It overall feels like a very premium experience, and you’re getting it for free.
10/10, probably the best mobile game on this entire App Store.

NO ADS! Super engaging and fun. Notes for devs at the bottom
I don’t often leave reviews for games I like, but I had to for this one.
If you are familiar with a steam game called vampire survivors, then you already know exactly what to expect from this games core gameplay loop, and to say that it copied it is accurate but not the whole story, more on this later.
For everyone who doesn’t know vampire survivors I’ll make this quick, this game is very simple to learn and the only gameplay you need to worry about is your movement, and what upgrades you choose. You dodge enemies while your auto-firing weapons gear through the hoards and you get points to reach your next upgrade to get more powerful. Upgrades you choose have synergies and the later you go in the level, the harder the enemies and the stronger your character. Very fun and highly recommend you try it.
Best part is the only ads are opt in ads so you can actually focus on enjoying the gameplay, and while it employs an energy-to-play system, you’ll almost never run out of things to do as your average level lasts long enough to generate some energy back, challenge and daily modes that don’t take energy to play, and you can watch an ad to get some energy back so zero complaints there.
——————————————————————————
Now for anyone that knows Vampire Survivors, this game is almost identical. The rounds are different time lengths, usually 15 instead of 30, but every weapon in this game basically has a vampire survivors weapon that is a carbon copy.
This isn’t bad though! The synergies are slightly different and fresh, the levels are very different from V.S. And this game takes loadout equipment notes from Archero’s progression and combines it with V.S. Gameplay loop for a best-of-both worlds type mobile game.
Enough micro gameplay to not be bored, enough macro progress to keep you wanting to play more and watch your character get more powerful with better equipment. Still worth trying out if you are a V.S. veteran because I have tried multiple V.S. Clones that popped up due to the games quick rise and 90% of them were terrible, loaded with ads that would kill you and poorly optimized. This does a lot correct for an adaptation and is not a blatant clone that tries to throw ads in your face.
Now, Devs I hope you’re listening:
Your game still has some performance issues. I get it’s hard to make a game like this work for mobile and still maintain that “overcome the hoard” feeling, but I have died many times to lag itself. Some optimization improvements would be awesome perhaps with body collection or loot consolidation improvements of some type.
Additionally, keep up the great work! The in game gifts are nice and I hope the hype for this game does not die too quickly because I would love to see different game mode additions and especially new weapons and synergies.
Also I know that low level equipment shouldn’t give a player too much of an edge too early but all of the equipment feels basically the same as any other in the same slot until you get to purples, and that is extremely rare. Other stats besides flat attack and health would be cool to see to differentiate equipments you can equip and give you more build expression because early game doesn’t feel like you are unlocking anything new and I could see people wanting to quit on that basis alone.
Other than that keep up the good work! The overall character unlocks and progression based on player level and evolution orbs is an awesome touch and I’d love to see an elaboration on that system or an additional system that is similar. Thanks for making an awesome game so far!

Survivor!.io Complaints 18
Over charge
Hello, my player ID is [protected]. I recently purchased an $11.99 growth fund tier and noticed on my bank statement that I was charged $21.64. That’s almost double what it was advertised at and this isn’t the first time it’s happened. I let it go the first time because it was a smaller purchase and I dismissed it as possible tax, but this current charge is ridiculous. Why am I being overcharged on multiple purposes? This makes me hesitant to ever purchase anything from the game again.

In game mistake
Hi,
I’m a player of the game for a long time, my ID is [protected]. In the game I went to “astral forge” to upgrade my new Twin Lance weapon having all the correct materials and the brand new “relic core” in order to upgrade the weapon. Instead of upgrading it took my gold eternal sword that is meant to upgrade the twin lance and completely scraped it when it said it was for upgrade and instead of upgrading weapon it scrapped my weapon. I please ask to give my gold eternal sword or upgrade my twin lance because that’s what I was meant to do. I’ve upgraded many times before, never had this happen before, thanks.
Best Regards,
George Niflis

Multiple credit card charges
I purchased the elite fund in survivor io, which was 11.99. I received the in game purchase verification, but when I reviewed my online bank, it showed that the payment went through on my credit card twice instead of just once.so instead of one charge of 11.99, there were two separate charges of 11.99. I did not authorize the second charge. Is there any way I can be refunded for the extra charge of 11.99?

I died and went to the shop to buy the 99 cent gems and after trying to buy it for a while and hooking up my card to it I bought that and that only and it charged me 7 dollars on my card and the 99 cent for 80 gems to and the only thing in the shop that’s $7 is the 500 gems and I didn’t even get 500 gems so I got charged twice for something I didn’t even buy and even if I did buy it I didn’t get the actual gems
Really wanted to like this game. Almost did
Preface: This has some of the tightest controls.
My main gripe comes from time progression during/between level ups. While selecting a skill, the game remains frozen. Selecting a skill and returning, has the game moving before the player sees controls and can move themselves. As it is now, the game will start back up for just a moment after selecting a skill before bringing up the next set of options. In situations where you pick up a magnet and have multiple level ups, enemies have plenty of time to rush you and kill you. Especially if you are trying to do it before a boss fight.
In my most recent run, i leveled many times, staring multiple seconds before the boss spawned. By the time i had sexted my fifth power, the boss had killed me.
This was a waste of my time and money to play until this bug gets fixed.
Could easily be fixed with a 'return to game timer' after all level ups are done. Pause the game for ALL OF THE LEVEL UPS not just for the individual ones, ending with some kind of 2 second timer. Player sees joystick and can interact but not 'move' until the timer finishes, or something. A REALLY simple addition that would heighten the experience and lessen the deaths from too many levels at once. What a dumb way to die :/

Blatantly Pay to Win
The game mechanics are fun for an hour or two, but then you will notice that the difficulty is always intentionally designed to be slightly too hard for your current stats in order to entice the player to spend money or watch ads to progress.
Each level is a huge jump in boss health/damage but there are no ways to grind large amounts of currency reliably. This makes the player feel they have to constantly waste time losing in order to generate stupidly small amounts of currency to get minor stat boosts. OR you can pay them real money and then get a substantial stat boost via good items! …until the next mission which continues to increase in difficulty exponentially so you’ll need to grind forever there too or pay more money.
Also, in maps where you might breeze past all but the last boss, the final enemy’s health doesn’t even visibly budge on hits. Why? Because they want you to spend premium currency or watch ads to respawn mid-mission and THEN the health drops more or the boss just instantly dies. This happens on every new level after a certain point, and it absolutely shows the mentality of the devs to be “pay us if you want to win, or your 15 minute run was a waste of time.”
Save your time and money and avoid scummy behavior like this.

What happened with the WC event
So once Argentina won, and I bet 850 scarfs on them, they never updated the game so then I would receive my tokens. And when they do, they only gave us less and a day to use them. LIKE WHAT? Yk how much work and time I put into earning those to use. Not only that but saving thousands of tokens? Just to lose it all and be given a small amount of 2000 coins ( which is less than when they give you for daily free coins in the shop which is like 6 times more.) stupid game. Weeks wasted. They should’ve given Atleast a week for everyone to actually get to use their tokens. Trash game event ruined my experience. Edit: I did pay attention to the event. I literally came in every day. 11pm on the day Argentina won WC, I checked in again because last time I checked in at 5pm after they won, I was expecting for the tokens to be distributed but they hadn’t yet. At 11pm that day it still wasn’t. The next day I checked in at 2pm and it still wasn’t. The day after that (2 days since WC finals) I checked in at 10am and boom, the event had dissapeared and the exchange was gone. Not even 20 hours in between and the apparently the game distributed the rewards and let the players exchange. That’s stupid. Exchanges on any game for events always are Atleast 24 hours. This one wasn’t even close to being 24 hours and it closed the exchange.

Wish a real developer would see this and reply not a Bot
So the game is good in generality but the problem with it is if you get disconnected or something happens with your internet it will just not save anything that you’ve just done and this happened like 4 times In one day where I would clear the trials and everything but I got disconnected from the internet for some reason and it didn’t save or give me any rewards at all and don’t even get me started on how the shop is completely trash with you being able to spend the same amount of gems on two different chests but one is somehow better than the other even though they rarely ever give better loot than the lowest level chest in the game like come on. On top of that the fact that I can spend 300 gems which equates to about $2 on the highest level chest in the game and get the same loot as the lowest level chest in the game and it’s not even uncommon that you do so. Then there’s the fact that if your game freezes or crashes or just stops working and you have no more stars to start a game but you were already in one it won’t let you resume from where you were effectively ruining all the progress you had even if you were literally a millisecond away from winning. So overall a fun game for a good minute until you actually start to pay attention to detail and realize that it’s kind of a sloppy mess of a game that feels like it was thrown together in a week by someone in their bedroom.

A blatant copy of Vampire Survivors
This game is a serious blatant copy of vampire survivors, but so easy and uninspired it’s honestly disappointing. Allow me to start: The weapon system is extremely similar, with almost every weapon copied off of Vampire Survivors, just horribly animated. No matter how much you argue otherwise, the enemies are also eerily similar to those of Vampire Survivors. You have what are the exact same upgrades, simply put into a branch to make it look more original or some garbage. The game is another one of those mobile games that love leeching money off of people. Instead, go buy yourself Vampire Survivors on steam instead. This game is absolutely uninspired and has the audacity to give no credits to the original game. While you may argue that 20 minutes till dawn did the same thing, they made their own weapons, own game mechanisms, and was open about being inspired by Vampire Survivors. Don’t even bother arguing that this is superior to Vampire Survivors. In every way possible it is worse. The difficulty is unbalanced, the weapons are iffy, the animations aren’t smooth, the game itself isn’t smooth, and it runs ads like a madman. If you want to see this game “blow up” so badly, shut up and go play Vampire Survivors. To devs, just know that if you plan on deleting this honest review, expect to have it back up. If you cannot stand a criticism of this game you copied off of Vampire Survivors, then you don’t deserve having it up in the first place. Shame on every single one of you that leeched off someone else’s game.

Quickly uninstall to unlock a 600% value
Firstly it was nice at least to play a game that’s not riddled with ads with micro levels in between so thank you. Though for whatever reason, all the ads in this are are long and you can’t close them at the end without opening the App Store which is a bit deceptive and frustrating, whether it’s you or the ad network, either way that’s bad. But again, at least it’s behind a player action so you can potentially avoid them, which knowing how long they’re going to take I mostly do avoid them. I did laugh at the monthly game subscription, just charge us a one off price for a no ads version please. Then there’s the sheer volume of micro purchases which also detracts but that’s sadly par for the course now. Theres nothing micro about $100‘s of dollars of purchases. That all aside the game is actually pretty decent when you’re not buying things in the store and if there’s any gripe on the game play it’s that each level takes a minimum of 15 minutes, it’s based on a timer so there’s no such thing as a quick level, which when you’re grinding it quickly becomes not worth the time to play the game and you get bored after a while since it is quite repetitive. Also, it’s pretty obvious when the difficulty or loot drops are not so randomly changed against the player so as to push them to buy something to get past a level. Finally, the marketing messaging on purchases e.g. a 4x value… value based on what exactly? It’s like you built a generic game around a store to try to con parents out of their money via pressuring their children.

Good game, one *gamebreaking* monetization choice
Best VS-style gameplay I've experienced on mobile, but there is *onespecific monetization practice that essentially ruins everything.
At the beginning of the game, you'll be given a lot of good options when you level up during a round - buffs to existing weapons, ATK/EXP boosts, and so on. After a certain point, they turn the knob the other way. Once you hit Chapter 5 or so, you'll now be presented with intentionally non-optimal choices in order to get you to focus more on buying and leveling gear.
The issue with that practice in particular being in Survivor!.io is that creating good builds is the *whole idea of the game. There have been multiple times where I refreshed my selection (in early game, where you shouldn't be limited) and got the exact same bad choices. Very literally, the only way to improve as a player in VS-type games is to learn how to stack damage types correctly and to not spread yourself thin with multiple low-level weapons, and Survivor!.io takes that agency away from you.
I write all this because I love this type of game and think that there is a really good core experience here, but this one facet genuinely ruins it. I'm happy to deal with multiple game currencies, to chase gear, to develop a habit by playing dailies and getting AFK rewards; all that fun modern monetization stuff. But I'm begging Habby and the developers here: please, please just turn down the negative influence on item choices. I want to like and recommend this game so bad, but right now, it's more likely I'm gonna uninstall and cut my losses.

Addictive and infuriating
So, I don’t think I have ever written a review for an app before, but I urge you not to download this game. Seriously, you have better things to do than to waste your time in an endless expensive dopamine spiral that either is designed to keep you wanting more, or simply needs better coding around random number generation.
Don’t get me wrong, the game is fun. It’s very fun. But there are major structural issues with the design. As you progress, you end up with piles of some resources (gold and evolutions) that will never be used, and they cannot be traded for things that can be. You may end up getting 6 of the same gloves and none of the necklaces you need.
I just spent 14 minutes playing a level never once getting offered the skill that would evolve my weapon. Out if the120+ items that went across my screen, I didn’t see the one that I needed once. It may just be due to random number generation, but it seems like there should be an algorithm to slightly increase options that haven’t been shown yet. It only showed up after I had spent gems to keep myself alive.
Developers, this game is not sustainable. I am likely going to delete it because it is becoming less fun. I think if you made a few minor tweaks (allow trading gold for gems and fixing the random generation algorithms to *slightlyprioritize evolving your gear [especially your main weapon—there should be NO reason why it should take over 30 levels before you are offered the gear that evolves your weapon]) you will create a player base that sticks around for a long time and doesn’t simply get financially bled dry.
Again, the game is fun, but your life will be better without it. I do not recommend it.

Would be good if not pay-to-win
Perfect example of a pay-to-win predatory loot box mobile game:
1) Multiple currencies: this is to initially hide where the paywall is & then to enforce it (7 days in)
2) multiple daily/weekly goals - hidden time gating to cause the unsuspecting to build an habit then addiction
3) impossible goals unless you pay: example, the 7 day server challenge has a weapon as the last unlock, but mathematically it is IMPOSSIBLE unless you buy 10k gems as completing ever other challenge will not give you the 1500 needed.
4) exponential difficulty - starting around 15 (day 4-5) the balance is designed for a significant payment to stay with the curve. Failing to do this results in failures (rewarding minor loot) but hiding the energy depletion mechanism you didn’t notice the first 5-7 days.
5) excessive inventory mechanic - each subtype of armor is individually merged. This means you might have multiple belts of the same type that cannot be merged.
6) video ads - as if the predatory mess above wasn’t bad enough, You have to agree to watch other, just as predatory, mobile game ads.
I am certain this will get the same auto-reply that all critical ratings get - the one that says Developers will take into consideration, bla bla bla…. In case the devs do read this, You can do better than this company - there is talent behind this game, don’t waste it on loot boxes, addiction mechanics, and predatory gameplay. Take your talent elsewhere and make a game you can be proud of, because you could do it
To everyone else, I played this so you don’t have to - go play a much better game on Steam for a one time payment. Demand better and mobile game companies will eventually cave and stop this junk.

Fraudulent Tactics
The game itself is fun, but the ads and in-game purchases are very sketchy.
For the ads:
A lot of the time if you watch an ad, you don’t get the reward. You have to rewatch the ad. Big waste of time. Also, if you watch an ad to revive yourself, it freezes pretty often and you have to restart the app. This causes you to restart the level even though you watched the ad to be revived. This is especially frustrating when you’re at the 15 minute boss (the last one).
For the In-Game Purchases:
I’ve purchased a handful of gems to purchase S Grade equipment and surpassed the small number of “required” purchases to receive S grade equipment. I DID NOT receive it. I contacted costumer support and they did nothing, they said I was wrong and did not offer any support. Also, if you accidentally purchase something, they do have a return option. The only problem is, it is very very difficult to fall within the return limits. They’re strict. In addition, if you send a return slip in, they do not get back to you until after you void the return by either using one of the items you got in the purchase or the time period is over. Lastly, if you’re trying to buy the “Level (X) Crate” there is a “bug?” where it makes you purchase the previous level box before you could purchase the current level box. Meaning, if you’re on level 10 and want the level 10 crate, you have to purchase the crates for level 1-9 before you get to the level 10 box. Seems like a bug that may be purposefully overlooked to make more money.
Overall, the game is fun but the company is extremely suspect. I do not trust the company and do not look for any support from them.

Aggressive advertising ruins an otherwise fun game
My first impression was to love this game, but that changed. Simple game play. Use a virtual joystick to move a character around the screen, avoiding and using different weapons and boosts to kill monsters. Players can collect and upgrade weapons, etc. I suppose that upgrades the base stats, but you still collect randomly generated weapons and boosts while running around trying to survive, and you also have to upgrade them to survive. Main play sessions last 15 mins, so set aside time. Side games use less time, maybe five minutes. Timer appears to be paused while in boss battles. It does have a good recovery for interrupted games. Daily free gold and green gems so you can collect and play free until you decide if this game is worth your hard earned cash. The free gold and gems are supplemented by ads, aggressive ads. Not sure if the advertising clients have to pay when players click the button to go to the app install page, but that decision is taken out of the player’s hand. When you view an ad, after the countdown timer finishes you will see a fast forward button in the upper right corner. Tapping that will shunted you to the advertised app install page. When you close the app page, you then get another countdown timer before the X for closing the page appears. Was a time when I was stuck in a loop and kept ending up at the advertised ads install page and couldn’t get back in the game. Complained about that here and the developers fixed that bug. That’s how I know they coded this shunt to the app page. You can also view ads when you die for a free revive. Same aggressive crap ads. The fun of the game is ruined by such aggressive advertising. And the game is designed to push players towards the ads. I gave up and deleted the game. Not worth my time. Maybe you’ll find it’s worth yours.

Pretty Underwhelming
My last review was apparently deleted by the developers so that should tell you a lot about their intentions.
This game was fun at first, but it quickly lost its spark once you progress through a few levels. I’m currently at lvl 9 and I am disappointed by the lack of any real ability for the player to use any strategy or skill in completing levels. The upgrades are a pick 1 of 3 lottery items each time you level up, so if you are unlucky you get items and upgrades that do not allow for the weapons to be upgraded to their most powerful form. This mechanic along with the fact that the skill tree is just a bland one branch (skill line, more like it) of flat stat upgrades means that each level is just a grid until you get enough gold to buy a perk or upgrade a piece of gear and hope that’s enough to get you to the end of the level.
The 2nd thing I really dislike about the game is needing to spend energy in order to attempt a level. You only have 5 attempts on a level before you run out of energy and are forced to wait before you can try again. This mechanic is made so much worse because of the issue I previously discussed where you are not in control of what upgrades you can use in a level so you can easily end up wasting a lot of energy
Lastly, several of the skill tree perks do not function as they appear they should. There are a few bonus perks you can unlock with a special currency from completing challenges and the ones related to drops from the monsters do not appear to work. They say things like “monsters will now drop food, or gear, or gold” But this seems to only affect the boss monsters which already dropped food and gold and don’t drop any additional ones with the perk.
Overall this makes for just a generic time waster that works harder to separate a few $$ from you then it does at being an entertaining game.

Uninstalled After Lots of Play
Overall - Play for a while, but don’t linger.
I recommend playing Survivor.io until you see and feel the game change into “extract money” mode. Then uninstall and move on to the next game.
Lower levels - The game is fun and engaging. The colors are vibrant and the mechanics are easy to grasp. There is a great sense of progression in the beginning.
But all of that changes and you will hit a brick wall.
Higher levels - The game requires too much daily maintenance. There are too many activities to increase stats. You could spend hours doing all of them. But none of your effort really matters. You’ll just die anyway until you pay money to rapidly increase your stats above some vague threshold. The game is incredibly unbalanced. A single level could take you several weeks to beat. And then the following 4 levels are a breeze.
It’s also odd that bosses become extremely difficult compared to the minor enemies of that same level. The bosses know exactly where you will step and projectiles will always hit you. You’ll try to move out of the way but you’ll still get hit somehow. Pro-tip: If you start moving randomly during a boss fight the boss and projectiles don’t hit as much. However, matter what you do you will get hit even if you’re outside of the displayed impact zone for certain jumping bosses…even if you have a speed boost. At higher levels getting hit once by a boss results in catastrophic damage even if you have 50% more health AND take 50% less damage. Death to bosses is where your level progression will stall.
The game has been uninstalled after hundreds of hours of play. I thought this game was amazing and probably would have rated it higher closer to release. However, the fun pretty much goes away at the higher levels. The game is geared towards extracting money from you while trying to extend engagement through tons of “chore activities”.

Insulting you with every cuuuutttte thing they do
Very major sins about this game:
1. The artwork gets old very quick, and doesn’t really add anything in the first place. And, most things just change color or add a cUtE little hat.
2. Even with the simple artwork, the game gets bogged down to crazy levels when they unimaginatively throw the kitchen sink at you.
3. The upgrade system is completely a moneygrab, it’s just dumb, and it relies on the quickly fading cutesy tootsy style. The merge function is rendered completely useless by having it be a pink BeAr PaW instead of a SpIkY bIkEr BoOt that mind you do the same thing. That alone would progress the game into a decent game.
4. There are MAJOR moneygrab points in this game. I don’t know if the developer is the same as the other .io games. However, either they became completely opposite of what they were (good games that functioned mostly off of ads), or this is a new developer that is ***ing on the name. Absolutely ridiculous. There are levels that you have played for umpteen times (chalking it up to not going after the right upgrades, etc) that you soon realize that there is zero way to beat them at your current level or equipment. See above and see below.
5. Everything costs coins in the game. Luckily it wasn’t gems, but you want to upgrade something? Coins. Move up in levels? Coins. Etc. To add to this, in the levels, it’s extremely hard to keep up with this game’s inflation even if you grab every coin and spend upgrade trees on getting more coins.
6. While the ads are few, they are extremely long. This is not that bad, just had to say.
To sum up, this game is a rip off of many games before it that did much better in delivery. While I was hooked in by the stylization of this type of games in their ads, the veil quickly came off within hours of playing. 100% moneygrab with a weak product. Things won’t be changed, and I won’t be there if they do. This is an insult of a game.

I upgraded growth fund twice but nothing was received.
I was playing vs plankton then I die and ask for an ad it gives me an add of bitlife I click the x to leave the ad then the screen stays black and this only happens with the bitlife ad and you only get to do this event a couple times before it is gone so please give me another try the date is january 2 2024
I am using the openX10 option for the S grade Supplies and I have enough gems to purchase a X10 so I have and I have noticed that It doesn't increment down the number of opens to get an excellent piece of equipment.
I recently bought multiple gems to merge 3 yellow to red and now I am at that stage. The S equipment is locked. I have all the requirements but it doesn't allow me to merge.
For the last two days I have not received the free gifts from the autumn seabed exploration challenge this includes 2 bombs and 2 flashlights in return for watching a free ad.
