Tarpon Furniture Purchase of a Power Head Rest Reclining Console Love Seat

On June 4th of 2021 we purchased a Leather Power Head Rest Recliner Console Love Seat. Hugh, the alleged store manager was our salesman. The furniture was delivered on July 3rd. Upon utilizing the furniture for a couple days, I noticed the chair on the left side lysting to the left and was very uncomfortable to sit in. On July 7th we notified the store and advised them of the problem and we were told they would have someone come out to look at it. A serviceman responded on July 13th and after inspection of the furniture piece he indicated the left side chair was infact damaged underneath causing the chair to lyst. He stated he would order the parts and would return to repair it in hopefully 2 to 4 weeks. He further indicated it appears it was damaged in the shipping process. In the meantime, the chair I sit in is too uncomfortable and is causing back and neck issues. On August 27th I placed a call to the store to see where my part was and why I have not received a call. I spoke with Debbie who stated "we changed vendors and your part won't be available until at least November 1st. I told her that was unacceptable and I wanted my piece repaired imediatley, or I wanted my money back. Debbie then stated GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ! I was furious by that response and requested to speak with the manager immediatley. I then was connected to Hugh, and I advised him I was angry with the response I got from Debbie and the situation with my furniture. Hugh indicated he would speak with Debbie because her response was not warranted or professional. Hugh stated he would look into the matter with the parts and repair. Hugh stated he would look into the matter and would call us back. Approx. 5 hours later Hugh called and stated I didn't want you to think I forgot about you, but I should have an answer by Sunday, August 29th, at which time I will call you. Today is September 6th, 8:36 PM and we have yet to hear from Hugh or anyone connected to this situation. At this juncture I have no choice but to seek out legal counsel along with going to the media and using social media to share my wonder experience with Tarpon Furniture. I have a broken Love Seat that I paid alot of money for and apparently no one at this business cares. I am awaiting a response from someone who really cares about my situation and the reputation of your business. Sincerely, Paul and Evelyn Hendershot, Hudson Florida, [protected]

Desired outcome: Immediate Repair, Replace or Refund of this purchase

Tarpon Furniture Living Room Set

Terrible place. sales people say "furniture guaranteed for life". Bought a beautiful bedroom suite 3/5/2006. had problems with the footboard, headboard and side rails. Over the years these parts got loose and squeaked. Bought a beautiful living room suite on Jan 4, 2015. At that time I mentioned that their guarantee for life was needed for bedroom set to fix footboard, headboard and side rails. Sales person told me "they don't do business with that company anymore and they couldn't help me. I was shocked and on my own but had already bought the living room set. My bad. After speaking with owner Bruce I was told for a fee they could send a repair person to my home and he would do whatever I want. I'm not rich and this furniture was expensive. Had my living room set delivered in March. This is again guaranteed for life. Big joke. The set is made with flexsteel. So, the microfiber cushion (after 5 months) ripped on my club chair. I saw how cheap and thin the material was. I had a living room set from Rooms to GO (microfiber)that lasted me 12 years for 1/3 of the price. Again this living room set was expensive. I go to store with ripped cushion and a decorative pillow that had stitching that was unraveling. I asked for my money back. Owner Bruce then proceeds to tell me he bought a truck and had a problem and it was on him. Basically what he said is "you bought it". We were then told that the only" guarantee for life" on the living room set was the flexsteel and the microfiber coverings are guaranteed for one year. Today Sept 24, I got the replacement cover for decorative pillow and chair cushion and the stitching on decorative pillow is loose. Don't shop at Tarpon Furniture. I bought all in Hudson Fl. Sales staff lied abt guarantee and leave you out to dry with poor quality materials. I'm afraid to see what will happen with my furniture within the next 6 months. Can you imagine a cushion just ripping. Owner Bruce told me it was probably there when we had furniture delivered but I didn't notice. He doesn't know me well. The furniture cushion was not ripped. They have terrible customer service and just want to make a sale.

Tarpon Furniture Decepitive sales tactics, misrepresentation, misleading, dishonest

(Bruce D. Weintraub) Owner, you have damaged your own
reputation by your business tactics. Anyone can go online and research you and
your businesses and find you have been dishonest. The Pasco County Civil Court
Lawsuits and complaints are online to see from 1991 until 2014. Under Bruce
Weintraub, Tarpon Furniture, Spring Hill Furniture Corporation, West Coast
Furniture, Sarasota Leather Gallery, Inc, Villages Leather Gallery, Inc., and
Family Furniture Showrooms. You may also
look under Pasco, Pinellas, Sumter, Citrus counties. I am sure there is more information out there
on you.

You first sent into Southern Motion (manufacturer for #1150 chair
that took approx. 7 weeks for delivery. When delivered it was a rocker recliner
w/handle on side. The chair was supposed to be a stationary wall hugger recliner
w/handle on side. You (Melinda) salesperson admitted she had looked up in the
book and got the wrong number. It should have been #2150 chair instead. “We
asked her again if it had a handle on side. (Melinda) salesgirl checked it out
and said “all rockers and wall huggers have a handle on the side”. She goofed the first time. Your truck picked
up the first wrong chair. (Melinda) salesgirl then sent to Southern Motion for
the second #2150 chair.

In approx. 7 weeks
the second chair #2150 was delivered. WRONG
CHAIR AGAIN, THIS CHAIR DID NOT HAVE
A HANDLE ON THE SIDE! I did not know this until it was too late to catch
the truck. The driver had sat in the chair and reclined it while I was talking
to his office for credit card information. The chair was sitting at an angle
and I could not see the other side. When I hung up he then got up to give me
the invoice said “the office will send me the card ticket to sign and return.”
He walked out the door and left. I then sat in the chair, reached for the
handle and there was none, it would not push back either. I felt something on
the inside of the chair poking me in the hip, it hurt and was hard. I tried to
push it down then pulled it up, the chair finally opened up. A pull with a
string attached to open the chair. I never heard of such a thing. My daughter
came in and sat in the chair said “it hurt her back”. She did not like the
chair either; the pull poked her in the hip too.

We then went to the
store “Tarpon Furniture” meet by the (Melinda) salesgirl and another salesgirl.
We all sat down and discussed the #2150 chair. The other salesgirl said “ALL
ROCKERS AND WALLHUGGERS HAVE A HANDLE ON THE SIDE.” When she found out the
chair was a wall hugger that was delivered without the handle she shut up. Our
salesgirl (Melinda) said “she did not remember any conversation that we wanted
a handle on the side of the chair.” It
was clear she was lying to us. (We had looked at many chairs thru out the store
and asked if that chair came w/handle each time.) We know very well that she
just did not want to admit she goofed for the second time. The salesgirl
(Melinda) said “no returns or refunds”. The conversations turned to rudeness
and arguing so we left. I had told her “to pick up the wrong chair for the second
time and refund the money” she refused. This is deceptive sales tactics,
dishonest, lying, misleading, taking advantage of customers, even the senior
citizens.

When you go online to
“Tarpon Furniture Website” under Southern Motion it shows all their chairs
including #2150 w/handle on the side. Also, Southern Motion site the #2150
handle is on the side. Many other sites also show the handle on the side #2150.
Now you say “it does not come w/handle only pull string.” Something is wrong
here! There is a misrepresentation of the merchandise, it was not the chair we
were told it would be or wanted. The salesgirl (Melinda) goofed again and made
a mistake or was it on purpose? Owner, (Bruce), the only honest thing for you
can do is to pick up the chair and refund the money. You can put the chair back
on the floor and sell it like you did the first goofed up chair #1150.

Owner (Bruce), you
only offered another chair in the store of same value or a power chair. You
said “it would only cost you $50.00 and you would go for that, ” I said “we had
tried the chairs in your store – none fit us” and “I did not want a power
chair.” This made you mad. You became rude and said “you do not do refunds.” I
asked you why – you did not have an answer.

The chair is the
wrong chair, your web site and Southern Motion show #2150 w/handle. Please pick
up the chair and refund the full amount of money back to us. Your business
record speaks for itself. (Bruce) owner, you have been sued in several counties
in the state of Florida. You are a deceitful person. We want nothing to do with
you, your employees or businesses.

Tarpon Furniture Wrong chairs and the salesperson refused to change them

I and my mom went to Tarpon Furniture and explained the salesperson that we needed real leather chairs. The salesperson explained that they could order it for us from the manufacturer. We needed to wait about 4-6 weeks and as we saw in their shop, the chairs looked really great. But we got completely different chairs, and we tried to return them, but the salesperson refused to take them and told that it was the same as in the shop. She sold wrong chairs and refused to change them. Not recommended company and share your view about it.

I am having troubles with Tarpon Furniture also. If you look online about Tarpon Furniture and thru the courts of Pasco, Pinellas and other counties you will find out that he has been sued several times. I am going thru my credit card right now. I have posted in several sites about Tarpon Furniture and about the owner who has several different last names he uses. Keep posting on several online sites to complain about the company. The public needs to know. Contact the State Attorney Office, The BBB, and other agencies as well. Keep b******g and keep fighting. He is wrong for what he is doing. Good luck. If you need anything let me know. Look me up on this site.

Tarpon Furniture Dishonest sells

My daughter Beverly and I (Elizabeth) went looking for a
reclining sofa and a wall hugger recliner chair starting in December of 2012.
We looked at Hudson’s, Ashley’s, Days and Badcock furniture stores. We did also
go to Tarpon Furniture in Hudson, Florida after seeing an ad in the paper. At
that time we saw a Westside wall hugger recliner that we liked in the store
after we tried the chairs they had. Melinda Poirier was the salesperson who
helped us. We then decided to go back and buy the sofa elsewhere. We could not
find a wall hugger that fit us at other stores.

In January 2014, we
looked all over again. On January 16th, 2014, we went back to Tarpon
Furniture to try again. Melinda Poirier, who was our salesperson, again helped
us. We told her the first time and again this second time that we needed a wall
hugger recliner with a handle on the side. We repeated this several times as we
looked and tried out each chair. We also told her we wanted genuine leather. We
tried the peach colored chair by Southern Motion. Melinda said “that they do
not stock chairs because it cost too much to inventory. But, they could get it
from the manufacturer in any color we wanted. The delivery would take 4-6
weeks. The manufacturer, Southern Motion makes the chairs and builds it for us
as soon as it is requested”. Melinda checked her books and with another
employee for the color samples and to make sure the chair came with the handle
on the side. Melinda said that it did and the female employee said that the
Southern Motion rockers and wall huggers all come with a handle on the side. We
asked for a handle every time we tried a chair. Melinda also asked for half the
money down for deposit. Beverly and I each paid $192.50 each on our credit
cards ($385.00). We would not have bought this #2150 Southern Motion, wall
hugger recliner if it did not have the handle on the side.

We then waited and I
called to see where the chair was. I was told that there was a delay due to the
weather in Mississippi, where they make the furniture. I waited and called
again and was told it was on the truck to Florida. I called again and was told
it would be delivered to Tarpon Furniture on Tuesday or Thursday and to us on
Saturday. The chair was delivered Friday, March 7th, 2014.

When the two men on the delivery truck came in with the
chair and sat it down the chair rocked slightly. I could see the rocker frame.
I told them it was not the stationery wall hugger recliner we wanted or
requested, it would have to go back. They driver then called the office and
talked to someone. The driver said they would leave the chair so that we would
have a chair to sit on. Then he left. We then received a call from the office.
They told me they would not leave the (wrong #1150 chair) unless I paid the
balance on the chair while we waited on the correct chair to come. I told them
NO – come and get the chair.

On Saturday, March 8th,
2014 we went into the store to see Melinda and make sure the shipment did not
get goofed up again. We again sat down with Melinda, Beverly, my 2
Grandchildren and myself to hopefully get the correct chair this time. Melinda,
said that she got the wrong (#1150) number when she looked the chair up in the
books. She said that they would pick up the wrong chair at no cost and correct
the number to #2150. Again, it would take 4 to 6 weeks for delivery of the
correct chair. We again asked #2150 if this chair came (wall hugger recliner)
with a handle on the side. We were again told by Melinda that YES, all the
rockers and wall huggers come with a handle. Bruce Weintraub, owner of Tarpon
Furniture and Spring Hill Furniture Inc said “to put the wrong chair #1150 on
the floor to sell”.

On April 24th/25th, I
called to see when the correct chair #2150 would be delivered. I was told that
the truck had taken the chair to the wrong warehouse and they would have to
pick it up. The chair #2150 (without handle) was delivered on April 28th
2014. The drivers brought the chair in and placed it for me. The drivers did a
good job and were polite. The driver stayed inside with me while the other man
went back into the truck. The driver asked me to call the office to finish
paying for the chair $384.33 on my Visa card. He sat in the chair and put the
feet up and lay back in the chair while I was on the phone. He said “they had
another delivery before us of the same color of furniture and they were a good
seller”. I did not see the other side of the chair; it was turned away from me.
He put the chair down and had to go, took the paperwork and left.

I sat down in the chair after he left. I tried
to put the chair open and recline. I could not find the handle on the side of
the chair. I then tried to push open the chair to no avail. I tried again and
my right hand hit something hard down inside the chair. I reached down inside
and there was a pull handle with a string to open the chair. I had to pull hard
to open it. I went outside to see if I could catch the truck but it had left by
the time I went outside.

When I told Beverly what happened. My daughter
came inside and tried the chair too, she said it hit her in the wrong place and
hurt her back. We changed our clothes and went to the store April 28th,
that afternoon. I called Melinda and told her it was the wrong chair. Melinda
said “she never remembered that conversations, the chair comes that way, they
do not do returns and I am stuck with it.” When we walked into the store
Melinda and another blonde lady were waiting. We all sat down and talked.
Melinda again said “she does not remember the conversations about the handle on
the side.” The blonde lady said “rockers and wall huggers come with
handles.” When she found out that the
chair in question was a wall hugger – she shut up. Melinda said they would not
return the chair. They both told us that the #1150 (first chair) we returned
that they put on the floor had sold. We cannot believe Melinda does not
remember the many times we specified a handle on the side of the chair. Melinda
is flat out telling a lie. We want our money back and nothing to do with Tarpon
Furniture. They kept arguing with us and we left.

We left the store and came home. Later that
afternoon April 28th, I called the store and asked for the owner
Bruce Weintraub. I had to call him three times before I was able to talk to
him. He told me that he had been in business for 30 years and he always tried
to make his customers happy. I explained “to him that it was the wrong chair,
without a handle.” He said “that is the way the chair comes.” I said “that it
does not have the same height back as the peach chair on display.” He explained
to me again how the chair must be broken in. I knew about this before. He
wanted me to measure the chair and he would do the same to the peach chair on
display. I was to call him on April 29th after 10:00am with the
measurements. He said “Melinda does not remember the conversations about the
handle on the side. That I say I did tell her and she says does not remember.
That he is in the middle.” I explained “that Melinda had checked the books and
with someone else and they said that rockers and wall huggers come with
handles”. Bruce said “he does not do refunds”. I agreed to call him on the 29th
the next day. I wanted to do some research on him.

The next day April 29th, I called
Bruce back. It took several calls back; I had to leave a message for him to
call me back. Bruce called me. We again repeated the conversation we had on the
28th several times. He said that he would be willing to give me a
power as it only cost him $50.00. I said NO, I do not want power. I only wanted
the handle on the side. I told him that I wanted him to pick up the chair and
give me a full refund. Bruce said “he does not do refunds”. I asked him why he
does not do refunds. He could not give me a reason. He would not refund my
money back to me. He again went back over the whole previous conversation. He
again refused to give to use a refund. I then told him that I had gone to the
bank and we had disputed the charges on the credit card (Visa). He said “do you
know how this works?” You dispute to Visa, they send me the notice, I send the
copies of the paperwork and you can dispute again and I will do the same for as
long as you want and at the end all you will have is the chair”. Yes, I know
how the dispute works. I told him again I wanted the chair picked up and a
refund. I also “told him I wanted nothing to do with him or his company because
of how they do business.” I feel they are dishonest and lie, anything to make
money. They do not care if they hurt people.

I wound up in the ER with blood pressure
216/114. The doctor tried to bring it down with medication. When I left it was
212/80. I am 76 years old and I do not need this. This was in the afternoon of
the 29th of April. Thank you Bruce Weintraub, owner of Tarpon
Furniture and employees.

If you go online to check out the owner and
his company. You will find a multitude of complaints about them. He has or had
several companies’ complaints and lawsuits: BBB West Florida, People Claim,
Yelp, Pasco County Civil Court, and division of Consumer Services. Companies
listed Bruce D. Weintraub, Tarpon furniture, West Coast Furniture, Spring Hill
Furniture Corporation.

We checked Tarpon Furniture web site, the
Southern Motion chairs were all on display. The chair #2150 was included and it
showed a handle on the side. Also, Southern Motion site, J&J Site, Hudson’s
site, Wolf’s site all showed the handle on the side. I am sure that we could
find more disputes. This man needs to
be put out of business; he should not be allowed to prey on the Public.

Apparently, there was a miscommunication on the chair. We
have reached a resolution. The chair will be picked up, the money refunded and
we are happy.
