This bank is the worst at customer service and all the hidden fees they charge you with. I have been a customer for more then 15 years. I am moving all my accounts to any where else! I hope other people do the same. This is why bankers all have a bad rep. for being greedy.

hate hate hate td bank! i've been a customer for over 15 years and NEVER was charged $770.00 in overdraft fees in one month. i've gone thru all my records and do not see i've done anything wrong. they cant waive my fee because in december they did a courtesy wave. reason why they did a courtesy fee wave was because in december when i went to change my christmas club to biweekly they opened another account and was taking money biweekly and also weekly. wasn't my error, the stupid girl didnt fix it correctly. so due to there error in december they wont fix another error that looks like its not my fault once again... HATE HATE HATE TD BANK...

TD Bank is the worst ever! You would think the service at any bank would be superb; afterall thet are using I money to loan out and make a fortune. I am out of there; I can't take th BS anymore with this bank. I would have follwed Commerce Bank anywhere, but TD Bank should be sued...I really think that the goverment shold step in and investigate this bank. Are these business practices even legal? I too live from paycheck to paycheck and I just paid $200.00 in overdraft for the banks error. THIS IS AMAZING HOW FOR SUCH A BIG COMPANY TD BANK AND PARENT COMPANY DON'T KNOW HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS.

Currently I work at the newly labeled 'TD Bank'. I was a customer of Banknorth for years before I began working as a part time employee there just several months ago. This employment is a result of being laid off from my previous job and trying to find work in an unforgiving economy. I've spent the last week getting yelled at because of the bank's computer...

TD Bank unavailable funds

What kind of bank has a contact phone number that even in an emergency such as their "computer glitch" has no message other than we can't help you at this time. Direct deposits are not recorded, yet they have no trouble paying your money out during this so called "glitch". I certainly have not encountered the service with them that I had when this was Commerce Bank in New Jersey. This will be the last 'glitch' I experience as a TD customer - I intend to start shopping for new banking services tomorrow!

TD Bank customer service/mismanagement of money

TD Bank is by far the worst bank I have ever dealt with. My ordeal started with them cashing a forged check out of my account and 3 .5 weeks later is still an issue. They do not care about the client or about finding solutions. I am all about compromise and understand that things may happen but I expect a professional response and I expect to see a resolution to the problem. TD Bank has proven that not only are they unprofessional and disrespectful to their clients, they simply do not care.

Their systems have been down for days with deposits but they have no problem cashing, returning checks.

Once my account is straightened out I will leave them and let everyone I know that they should not bank with TD.

My debit card, several credit cards and driver's license were stolen in July. Unauthorized charges were made using my debit card, which I promptly reported to TD Bank (within 24 hours). They, however, claimed that the charges were made by me, since the person making the charges had my address, and the signature was 'similar ' to mine. The thieves took my drivers license, so duhhh. I supplied Police Report, had the detective working my case call them, etc. They just gave me the run around, and suggested that I was lying, maybe I had a night out on the town, and then regretted it later. UNBELIEVABLE. My advice, file a complaint immediately with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. This is what I finally did, and I had my money credited back within 3 weeks. www.occ.treas.gov You can file your complaint online.

DO NOT waste your time waiting for TD bank to do the right thing.

im sad to say i used to work for them. they dont tell the employees whats going on until 5 mins before their shift. after that we had to deal with the customer blindly. sadly the tellers & customer service people are the ones who actually have to talk to the customers face to face. we try to help as much as possible but its really hard because they dont tell the employees much of anything. i'd closed my account with them asap!

TD Bank od fees when eft deposits were delayed

TD Bank is charging us OD fees for the time epriod that, and I'll copy from teh online banki9ng website, "Please Note: Thank you for your patience. We are experiencing unusual delays in posting transactions to Customer Accounts. Please rest assured, your accounts are safe and secure. We will resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.".

Our credit card deposits are not clearing teh bank when they should, resulting in ODs. We were unable to transfer funds between accounts to cover overdrafts and so far no apology or refund. I hated this bank before but now am actively looking for a new bank.

They also do not have any type of "grace period" to cover an overdraft. As soon as your balance goes below 0.00, even by a penny, the fee is charged. And this doesn;t take into accout that we have more than one account with the bank with funds available to cover in our other account, or on our line of credit or on our overdraft protection account attached to the other bank account.

Absolutely this bank has got to be at the top of the worst ever!

TD Bank horrible!

I have been with Commerce Bank since they opened, great bank until they day they merged with TD. They assured the customers it would be the same bank that garnished Commerce all of the influx of customers, WELL it isn't! Regis should have stayed sitting onthe couch b/c this bank SUCKS! CRS that don't know what they are talking about, Fees all of the sudden when the reason we banked with Commerce was because it was Hassel Free, Fee Free and Convenient, Credit Cards that have a ridiculous APR even if you don't carry a balance they are charging 14%...SHALL I CONTINUE!

I was supposed to have my paycheck direct deposited in my account on 9/29, well it is 10/1 and still no deposit! I have debits coming good today for bills and the money will not be there to cover b/c no one seems to know where my money is. Oh yeah and I can't call and inquire, or complain or anythng b/c all of the phone numbers don't work right now. They obviously are hiding in a hole becasue this TRANSITION is a bust. They are going to owe all kinds of customers money...if they ever get their friggin act together. As soon as this is all settled and I can find my money...I am taking it out of TD bank and keeping where it is safe...in my mattress! Oh and I am calling the Better Business Bureau to make a formal complaint...I suggest everyone else does the same!

TD Bank direct deposit, terms change

Yeah, TD is having a problem with all Deposits. The best is, yes, you call them and can't get through cause everyone else is calling them too. When i did get through they, they stated it was only deposits. Well they are wrong it is debits too. Nothing from yesterday at 5p thru right now has came out of my account or gone in. They are also now changing their terms- Free checking accounts are no longer FREE. If your account falls below $100, they will charge a $15 fee. I don't have time to deal with stupid crap. I never had a problem when it was Comerce Bank. Since the switch over, i have had nothing but problems. Everything from fees they cannot explain being taken out of my account to horrid customer service to now my paycheck not showing. Granted they attempted to fix it by making my previous paycheck amt avail, but that amt is less than this one (i don't work overtime for nothing) and i'm sure it will all get screwed up in the end. I have no faith in this company. I am switching banks ASAP. Maybe WAMU will be more reliable.

There have never been COMPLETELY FREE checking accounts. You need to re-read your account information. It's been this way before TD and commerce merged. Majority of the accounts are free of service fees for the first year. After that, yes if you drop below the minimum balance to waive service fees pf $100.00 they charge you $15.00. You also must remember that thats an option for you. If you cannot keep the minimum balance ALL of the month, you can switch to other accounts with less service fees and non required minimum balance. There is an account that only takes $3.00 a month, for no required minimum. This has been this way for yearrrsssss. The only difference is not everyone has something to complain about, so it stands out. Just re-read your account information. If you remember where that is...

This is ridiculous! It's 9 am on THURSDAY and our paychecks are STILL not posting. And what's worse, some of my co-workers are getting charged overdraft fees and they have money in their accounts! They have to fight with customer service to have them removed after assurances yesterday from customer service that there would be NO withdrawals either. We were told that the deposits were going to go in first and then withdrawals would follow. This is NOT the case. They are going to have a run on the bank if they do not fix this situation immediately!

Today I got paid by my employer as I do every two weeks, but this time TD Bank is experiencing "delays" posting transactions to customer's accounts. I have no access to funds that are mine. The deposit can be proven with a pay stub that funds were transferred to my specific TD Bank account number on today's date. Yet, still no access to my funds. Any bank...

TD Bank no funds

TD BANK has been having some sort of computer internet glitch that started Friday...long story short, they are still DOWN and I have been embarrassed when trying to use my debit card to purchase food, pay bills and conduct business...my card is declined and I am getting told that there is INSUFFICIENT FUNDS! I was supposed to have my check deposited directly today, 30th and it is not in there...instead my account does not reflect anything but negative activity and to boot...$105.00 of overdraft fees!?!?!?! EXCUSE ME?
I attempted to call the 800 number and the automated #'s neither of which are working. That leads me to believe that they were well aware of the amounts of complaint phone calls they would be getting and shut down their phone systems as well. That is horrible customer service.
They told my husband who walked into a location that by 4pm everything would be fine...well that is not the case.
They did not notify us ahead of time about this interruption in my money and now how do I go about living, paying bills and conducting business...forgodsakes we are in a recession and money is a necessity.
How do they do this to us?
I am switching banks immediately! I am disgusted by this

I am switching banks too, had enough of this Sh**! I called them 25min ago and I am still on hold as I write this comment. For the second time they charged me $280 for overdraft fees? WTF? I think the best way to show TD how disgusted we are with them is closing the account and not wasting time with this BS and terrible customer service.

Im am absolutely pissed with td banknorth! I've had an acct with them for several years and was very happy with the services provided. Now it all went to ###... ever since this merger everything has changed. From customer service to ridiculous fees. Now the topper... i cant gaet my own money and there is no way to see whats in my acct etc. I called and spoke to a rep after holding for several minutes for her to tell me everything was all set and my direct deposit was available, then i called to check my balances and it unavaialble again. Now I'm trying to check any info on my bank and i can't! I can't get through to the 1-800 number and online is not working! I'm going to go into the branch and close my acct ASAP! I have never had this happen before and the lack of empathy form the td banknorth staff is totally lacking.

Ever since their upgrade the entire banking system has been useless. I can't view my balances or make transfers because they have all the numbers eff-d up. Prior to the "update" you could see where pending debit card transactions came from, now you have to wait for them to post completely before you can. This is what you get when a bunch of French Canadians buy up American businesses, complete ###. ### you Canada.

TD Bank computer system upgrade

I can not believe that after 7 days tdb still has not completed their system transfer of customer information. This is absolutely ridiculous. Td bank should not have commenced the process unless they were sure that all computer glitches had been rectified! Not only did I have to deal with an embarrassing incident at a restaurant on 9/24 when my card was rejected but today 9/30, my husband's payroll check is not reflected in our account balance and shows that we are in arrears. And to add insult to injury, a recorded message at customer service says “we are sorry your call cannot be completed at this time, please try your call again later." we never had any of these problems when it was commerce bank! Your bank is going to loose a lot of customers and to think I use to bragg about this bank!

Well, they only say they're the most convenient bank, not the easiest to deal with or the one with the highest satisfaction rating.

RIP Commerce Bank. They used to be really great.

Wachovia is soon to be Wells Fargo - and that's no customer service bargain either. They had an employee sell thousands of peoples' account info. When fraud occurred, they denied anything had happened. Once it became public knowledge, they stonewalled on investigating the problems.

http://www.id-theft-security.com/lifelock-blog/2009/08/lifelock-review-wachovia-bank-employee-2-others-indicted-on-id-theft-bank-conspiracy-charges/

They are still causing problems for customers over this mess.

I've been having the same problem since 9/30 as well I thought I was the only one experiencing the agonizing experience of this damned computer glitch. I went to the branch in Valley Stream, NY, the employees there said that this problem should have been fixed along time ago. To make matters worse, I have been unable to get thru to customer service. They know that they have a ton of customers that are ready to crack some heads so their customer service line plays this horrible muzak while u are waiting for a customer service rep to get on the line and rip them a new one. 2 weeks out and I am now looking into Wachovia. I am done with TD Bank. After this amount of time, and with a consolidation that was in the works for 18 months, I have had it.
Phones and computers remain down, money continues to be unavailable and accounts are not only incorrect, but also untimely.
It is obvious they are unable to handle any new customers

I find this whole situation appalling, this is a debacle of the worst kind. I’m in computers, if after a day there is a major effect on the system, rule 101 is you revert back to the backup. Fees are incurring on my account, not small fees either. Hundreds of dollars in fees. All customer service numbers are none operational. The website keeps going up and down. And the people in the bank (I know it isn’t their fault) are of very little help either because they are also in the dark or because they are over worked as well trying to keep the customers at bay. TD Bank is going at this situation like Bush did on the war on terrorism.
Little tip of advice if you step in [censored] you don’t dig your foot deeper into it.

wow... you guys really are dumb. I started an account 5 years ago as a 16 year old kid... If you guys heard what they tell you, instead of what you want to hear, they tell you its a FREE checking account for the first YEAR. After that there is a $15 service charge for falling under that balance. They also have accounts that charge you $3 a month but have no minimum balance. But once you hear FREE thats all you hear. Read the literature they give you instead of throwing it away and you will understand. Also, about the whole direct deposit ordeal, yes, they are having problems. But you guys are taking it out on the tellers, who have no control over the situation. They can only do what is instructed of them. Having irate customers does not help the situation. If you go calmly up there and explain your situation you will realize that you arent the only one having the problem and if you are calm, you are more likely to get your funds made available than someone who has an attitude...

but wait... that actually makes sense. people tend to act irrationally and yell until they get their way which i, personally, have no tolerance for... so continue to get mad, but all banks go through this and they arent stealing your money, there is just delays.

mndomination

Another 'genious' working behind the counters at TD Bank! Walking into TD Bank now feels like walking into DMV. No one can help you with anything. You say you work at TD Bank, then obviously you should know what's going on as well as an ETA as to when this issue should be resolved... OR maybe TD is not telling their own people ### either!

Call it like it is, anyone that shuts down their customer service number to avoid contact is a coward. It's a job function to answer the phone, so DO IT! I get it, it takes some time for systems to get back up, but come on, holy ###, it's 2009 here and almost a f'in week without funds...

mndomination must be a typical 18 yr old punk employee from TD that walks around with nothing else better to do while watching lines back up at the counter on a Friday afternoons...

I, too, am having some issues and patiently awaiting to make sure my mortgage payment is processed and my paycheck is deposited. I was explaining the situation to a co-worker today and she suggested that each day, I print out the online screen to make sure that debits and credits are done properly. As you all know, some transactions are present one day and the next day it has changed or appears different. This way, if anything happens in your account or monies are lost, you will have back up to prove your point.

I know when I speak to customer services, they state they will cover any fees or penalties associated with this process, but that doesn't help me much when bills start going past due, etc. I hope they have this resolved shortly.

I went into TD Bank this morning regarding my $2500 paycheck that was (supposedly) a direct deposit into the bank on Tuesday. The Bank manager informed me that NO direct deposits have been credited to Client accounts since the 27th of September. Also, the Customer service line is down, the top of the TD hierarchy is no longer in touch with it's bank managers and they have no idea when the system will be up. Holding customer monies should be illegal, but when I called the SEC hotline [protected]) I was told that they already knew about the TD Bank's computer conversion issues and that there was nothing to complain about - TD is in contact with the SEC and we "just have to be patient". It is the end of the month and bills are due. Many people get paid on the last day of the month. The papers are just reporting about the web site being down, neglecting the fact that millions of dollars have not been credited to client bank accounts in five days. This is wrong and I urge everyone to take their accounts elsewhere once the funds are straightened out. As for mndomination telling people to "get over it" - you are an idiot. If enough people leave over this fiasco, expect layoffs in the near future.

The only way to send a message to TD bank is to actually close your accounts, not just stomp your feet. I opened a new checking account online last night with Chase bank, took 10 minutes. I encourage all to do the same at the bank of your choice. Dont settle for this BS, there is strength in numbers. BTW Chase has account opening specials $100 - $150 to open a checking with direct deposit. Other banks may have similar deals. DO IT NOW!

Citizens Bank is much better. No monthly service charge checking with no minimum requirement rather than $100 minimum like TD Bank. I am careful not to bounce checks yet I'd have one or two days with less than $100 & TD Bank would give me a $15 charge. I guess if they send you a letter in the mail talking about a change in your account & page 6 talks about a new fee they can charge whatever they want to you in fees. TD Bank also charged me $14o (35 x 4) for an electronic transfer that cleared the other account more than a day earlier. Choose a credit union or another bank like Citizens where you will not be taken advantage of.

One thing that we can do is send respectful but honest, brief, posts on-line like the one I just wrote when they open a new branch & there's an on-line announcement. People need to be informed about what TD Bank is really like.

On charity events like food drives this is what I have said for example.

" TD Bank took $155.00 of my families' money for food. They changed my Simply Free Checking to a Convenience Checking that automatically starting charging my family $15.00 per month for any day of having less than $100. Money started getting even tighter. I transferred money electronicaly & it cleared the other account. TD Bank had it listed as pending & I was then charged $140.00 ($35 x4 transactions) "

Let's raise awareness about this bank. Don't swear, be honest & respectful so that you will be taken seriously by your readers.

I am absolutely baffled by my recent experience with this. I have been a customer of Commerce Bank since '98 and have only once ever incurred an overdraft fee with them. When this happened with Commerce, it was a reasonable amount, and I actually understood what the problem was when I called and had it explained to me by customer service. Admittedly, my mistake and it hasn't happened again... until now with TD Bank, but this time when I called customer service, I felt like I was talking to a wall. I have no idea how they could possibly justify the $140 overdraft fee that they slapped me with! At no point did I have a negative balance according to both my online statements AND my own personal bank register. When I went through it with the supervisor, they finally agreed to refund the fees. So, I go online to find out that yes, they refunded me that money but now there is a mysterious additional debit of $105 to my account. When I called to find out what this is, I am told that it is another overdraft fee that was incurred as a result of insufficient funds caused by the previous overdraft that was now refunded. This one, they refused to refund to me. For the first time in my life, my family is living paycheck to paycheck, paying our bills and being responsible and I feel as though I have been victimized by deceptive and predatory banking practices. These fees are not only unfair but they are outrageously excessive. I plan on speaking to my branch manager about this and if they cannot resolve it, I will find a new bank immediately. Are there any decent banks out there? I really liked Commerce - it's a shame.

True! They are charging overdraft fees and taking money from our account even if transfers were already made. When we check our account online, there were no negative balances, but still there were overdraft fees paid. The available balance that we see through online banking is not true. It is different from what appears in their back office.
What then is the use of online banking when we could not rely on it to check our transactions as they occur, as well as the available balances? They don't post the transactions according to the date and time that they occur. They post transactions in a very fraudulent way by changing the order and the dates on which they occurred, so that although you knew that you have funds available and that there are no negative balances in the preceding transactions, they maintain their position to charge those unconscionable fees. Demands had been made by calling the customer service reps and supervisor but efforts were just futile and in vain. They refused to give back these fees that should have been reversed and refunded to our account. They have been doing these for at least two or three times a month, depleting our account. Please be warned!

TD Bank bad service

TD Banknorth used to be a good bank. I signed up for a "free" checking, no minimums, no monthly charges, etc. Then it all changed with no warning. This caused my account to overdraw. Then if you don't pay it, they tack on another $35.00 every five days. Well I fought back and won. If it happens to any of you - fight back. Here is the contact information for Banknorth. Businesses count on consumers being doormats, after all we have been tolerating exceedingly bad customer service over the past years. It is time to demand customer service as it used to be in the United States. Banknorth will also deduct the largest debit first that way all the smaller ones will accumulate $35.00 fees for each one, regardless of whether it is $1.00 or whatever. They do not make deductions or credits based on the date and time of the activity. They make it based on what will get the most number of fees for Banknorth.

Bottom line is I wouldn’t bank with td Banknorth again, no matter what. Banks used to be where you put your money to keep it safe – not anymore. Banks such as td Banknorth abuse their customers in order to generate the largest amount of fees. They do not give a rat’s whatever about the customer.

You are much better off banking with a local community bank or credit union, not a large conglomerate based in a foreign country – yes Canada is a foreign company. At this stage of the game we should only be supporting American based companies anyway. While it is nice to have the convenience of having “your” bank everywhere you go – it is not so nice when they attempt to steal from their customers.

TD Bank loan denied

Bought car throught a local dealer and applied for a loan through Chase. On the delivery date, the car was damaged. The next day the entire transaction was cancelled and my $5, 000 deposit plus another $250 in registration fees were refunded. On 8/29, receided a letter from TDBanknorth postmarked 8/24 saying my car loan on 8/10 was denied based on data from Experian. Called Experian and they provided and complete report of 29 pages with NO derogatory comments - perfect credit. There is no obvious reason for TDBanknorth's refusal. There letter has to be issued in error. To date they HAVE NOT responded to email or letters and they will not discuss the problem on the phone. Customers should be wary of doing business with them - they have expanded too fast and our insensitive to people - especially Senior Citizens.

TD Bank hidden fees

I have had a TD Bank account since I was 18. Recently, I was trying to navigate their recently unveiled "new and improved" website and noticed some service fees. Three different $15 fees appeared on my account over the past two months. After calling customer service, I learned that they charged my account because the balance had "slipped" below $100. I told them that might type of checking did not have a minimum balance and they, in turn, informed me that according to a "green booklet" I should have received in May that they had recently instituted one. They told me that I could switch to another checking account that did not have a min. balance. I asked them why they turned my account into an account type that was nothing like my original when there was clearly one more similar. I also asked them if they were also going to start rewarding me with these service fees every time my account was over $1000 which it is most of the time. When I asked the brilliant CS rep what service was being carried out on m behalf, he told me that it was meant to make sure that customers always had a "cushion" and were given a "warning" when their account balance became too low. Ha! I told him it would be much more productive to send some sort of email alert and he let me know that they also have that service as well. After refunding $30 of the fees as a courtesy gesture, he told me to not be surprised if I saw another charge next month since my bank account was currently at $96.75. I told him that when the $30 refund was added I would be over $100. He said unfortunately all transactions had to be posted by 5 p.m. It was 5:15. This bank is desperate- switch to another immediately.

FYI, Key Bank's "Key Saver" (savings account) terms and conditions state $300 as the minimum daily balance. The "Key Express Free Checking" (checking account) T&C has zero minimum balance.

A few years ago I overdrafted my checking account and expected the savings account balance to be used to cover the discrepancy, as Wells Fargo did for me when I lived on the West Coast. Key didn't do that, which took me by surprise, and charged every ensuing transaction some large fee. I complained in person at a Key Bank branch and they set me up with an overdraft account that is more or less a credit line. There was no charge for setting it up and the only drawback is that any balance remaining in there should be paid quickly (usually via the website), as it incurs interest.

To "TD Bank- Customer Care "
In reference to your statement, "But our new product set offers more options, making it easier for Customers to find a product that fits their banking preferences." I already HAD a product that fit my banking prefrences, that's why I selected it in the first place. You changing it has nothing to do with me, only yourselves. I switched to TDBanknorth (about 1 year before the merger with Commerce) precisely because they had a free checking and savings account that met my needs. When they merged with Commerce, conveniently the named changed to 'TDBank' but all the accounts changed to Commerce accounts with minimum balances and outrageous fees. Like the writer said, if there was a 'new' account more similar to the old account, they should have been placed there. Instead TDBank placed them where it suited them best, not suited the customer best. Which is precisely why I never opened a Commerce bank account.
When Citizens Bank bought Commonwealth Bank (a PA bank with branches in eastern PA), they matched my checking and savings account with the best suited option from their catalog. They were also nice enough to grandfather the Commonwealth Bank fee structure which was an added bonus as Citizens fees were higher. When TDBanknorth and Commerce merged, I had hoped they would do the same since both banks advertise how convenient and customer-focused they are. But I now see how wrong I was when I find the minimum balance for my TDBank savings account seemly changed twice (from $0 with TDBanknorth, to $100 when they told me of the conversion, to $250 on Sept 25 which I never heard of). I'm now having to shop around again for a bank.

TD Bank new fees??? switch banks now!

I opened my account in Philly about 3 1/2 years ago. While using TDbank in Maine(which was a major pain in the ### because their systems didn't link up) the branch manager told me that I am very lucky to have this account because I will be "grandfathered" in for the no atm fees forever. Well I guess now I was wrong! I was just charged my first $15 dollar maintenance fee for my balance dropping below $100.

I keep almost 99% of my money in an online bank that pays super high interest and charges no fees whatsoever(Ally.com)! This bank will even contact you if your balance drops below a certain amount...fathom that! A Bank that actually cares.

TdBank has is all wrong here(not to mention the new website design sucks)! They don't give a ### about their customers. During a recession they are taking money out of people's pockets...not to mention you don't earn any interest with the money that you do actually have! I would highly suggest looking into Ally Bank online. I have had a great experience with them. Their website is so easy to use. I plan on canceling my account as soon as I switch over my automatic payments.

That fee has nothing to do with ATM Fees. It is charged if for any day within the 30 Days
of your cycle you fall below $100. It sucks I got charged too for the first time but they did advise via mailing last month.

TD Bank excessive overdraft fees

My husband and I opened 2 checking accounts with TD Bank a year and a 1/2 ago, right before they merged with Commerce Bank and at the time there wasn't a monthly maintenance fee or fees for using the ATM. Now, we have a fee every month and on top of that extremely excessive overdraft fees! I have been charged over $1, 000 in fees this summer because they balance they keep isn't accurate. On top of that they deduct transactions from highest to lowest, not in the order that they were done! Not only that but if you're overdrawn for 5 consecutive days you will be charged $35 and continue to be charged $35 every 5 days until a deposit is made! And this is the best one, I was charged a $35 overdraft fee for a $18 transaction from Netflix because when it was authorized I only had $11 in my account (it's automatic every month) and then when it came out of pending and it actually "posted" to my account I was charged $35 again! I called customer service and the rep said that they will mail me the "Schedule of Deposit Account Charges" for me to review.

This bank is ridiculous! With the economy the way it is how do they get away with charging these fees! There has to e something to do about it. I am closing my accounts with TD Bank today!

It all started on 9/25/2009. "The Great Glitch" as TD Bank called it. I went to withdraw $50.00 out of my account and couldn't get any money out. Went home to check my accounts online and couldn't get access to them. Then tried to call and couldn't get through to customer service.

Keep in mind that all of my paychecks are direct deposit along with my husbands Social Security. Because I work 2 full time jobs for a total of 75 hours a week, everything I do is online. Auto Pay, Direct Deposit, etc.. According to TD Bank they were implementing a new program and changing the way they charged overdraft fees. Since everything I do is automatic, TD Bank would process all my direct payments 1st, return them, charge me outrageous fees and then post my direct deposit payroll. Of course at that point I would have a negative balance . Some weeks I would have around $15.00 left out of a $1000.00 paycheck and no real bills covered. They had returned them all, charged their fees and then credit my paycheck.

I couldn't hardly get it stopped, because they would get my paycheck, before I could and take all their fees first. This has sent me into a financial tailspin, that I am having a hard time getting out of. I work so many hours, because I am trying to climb out of a financial mess from my husbands illness and the last thing I needed is their thievery.

I went in to the branches several times, made numerous calls, all to no avail. As of 1/12/2010 they have taken $4, 370.00 in overdraft fees. By the time I realized they were not going to correct anything, it took my companies several weeks to change my direct deposits and I am still working on canceling the auto payments. After finally contacting the BBB, they are now offering to zero the negative balances out, but "too bad" about my $4, 370.00 in fees, not including all the fees charged by the companies who got things returned to them.

Someone should seriously look at the banks and begin regulating their fee scales. This is detrimental to the "little man" who has to work for a living.

My complaint is quite different from those posted above. Because TD Bank did not respond to problems we had with the IRS, we had to hire a tax consultant to take care of things. FACT: TD Bank was responsible for filing our employee withholding, which we did. The MONEY WAS MISROUTED to the IRS and our account showed no payment was made. TD Bank was NONRESPONSIVE to both us and our tax consultant. We are still thrashing this out with the IRS after 5 years.
Now we have a levy on our checking account from the State of NH for a Tax Warrant. This is outrageous for two reasons. First, we don't owe any money to the State of NH and such a levy should have never been made against an account that has federal funds such as SS payments in it. This is federal law. Clearly, the Bank has violated federal law. I'm sure this will take weeks, months, or possibly years to reconcile. In the meantime, we are living on nothing. This bank should not be allowed to operate since it clearly doesn't know what the law is nor does it care about its customers.

I will be moving ALL of my accounts to another bank on Monday morning 4/8/13.

TD Bank irobs people and their practices are ridiculous. Whnen it was Commerce Bank, you knew why over overdrew something, it was clear as day. With this ridiculous bank... not only do you get a fee for somethingt hat makes absolutely ZERO sense, it seems that there is never just one, there is ALWAYS at least two. I have recently changed banks because I'm tired of this. I am responsible with my money and to get charged OD fees all the time for things that literally make no sense to me seems shady. They truly are lining their pockets! They say the do not charge OD fees on "pending transactions"..the hell they don't! Not only do they charge it when it is pending, but they charge it again once it posts! I cannot grasp why in the hell you have mpney on your account that you use and later they tell you that you really didn't have it?! I have an avail balance of $28 after my vacation, of which I did not use, however, the CSR said to me that it said I had $28 as my avail balance but I really didn't. When I asked him to explain that he basically said that it just wasn't there... that is strange considering NOTHING else was coming out of my account that week I was on a cruise, and everything I spent was charged at the end... my original balance 1680.00, my charges 1652, my avail balaance 28...however, it wasn't really there? MAKES NO DAMN SENSE! It was there and that was teh final straw for me, I have since switched banks...now I have peace of mind that I am not being ripped off!

Maggie writes, "If the money is already in your account before you make the debits/checks, it won't matter how they order the posting". Guess what, you are wrong. TD Bank will charge you overdraft fees on debit card purchases on a Friday that were paid for on a Monday. Let's be clear, these purchases are not gas purchases where there is a lag time, they were purchases where the money was in the account at the time of the purchase. The funny thing is not one customer rep. could explain to me how this is possible. I have been send information three times, none of which explained why they are charging overdraft to debit transactions that have already been paid.

On TD's website under pendind transactions it clearly states, 'It is important to remember that your money is considered spent when you conduct the transaction; not when it posts to your account'. Really, well aparently TD bank has not read their own website. One customer rep. actually said to me that it only looks like that is happening.

Charging overdraft fees to a debit card purchase when it posts is clearly a direct contradiction to their website. When I pointed this out to TD Bank, they closed my account an put me on the chexsystem. Well...I'm off to small claims court.

I am 21 year old college student who does not make a lot of money working retail. This past friday i deposited my check for $ 475. They said the check will not clear till tuesday im assuming this is because monday was martin luther king day. so i manage to do without any money till monday in which i checked my accout balance that said Balance: 475 and Available: 10. being naive as i am i thought that i was able to use this money without any over drafting fees. however that monday i spent around 105 dollars on several menail items which were all approved, now on saturday i recieve a letter telling me that i am being charged 210 DOLLARS in over drafting fees, which now leaves my account balace at $-230... is there any way to fight this? i do not any means of going three weeks without money...

YES! TD is in fact using dishonest methods to line thier pockets! A Payroll check that used to clear in a day all of a sudden stalls and they don't clear it. In the meantime about 14 small purchaces like coffee, etc totaling perhaps $50 caused over $500 in overdraft fees. As things get quicker and faster why dose that become mysteriously slower. The point is the depost was made with a large companies payroll check like it had been for years without any problems. The money I spent was MY money - not like I emptied my account and kept going. They let the compound overdrafting go on for days before I received the first notification which never mentioned the very first one that seemed to cause the domino effect. I asked for a copy or confirmation that such a notice went out an they said "We don't keep records". The Bank manager was downright rude and even laughed at me. When asked for his superior I was handed an 800 number to call without results. It is Clear that they have set up a self imposed defacto usary lending system forced down the customers throght by stalling deposits and imposing predatory fees." In the meatime CEOs get multi millions in bonuses after athe Bailouts. WHERE are our LEGISLATORS?

TD Bank worst customer service

This bank is the most uncivilized bank in a civilized world. They are worst in customer service, they have been giving me a run around and fishing for reason to decline my loan. They have lied to me so many times about why it took them over 5 months to give me a reason why my loan is still in process and finally i receive a letter which says my loan has been declined, the worst part is that TD Bank employee did not even sign the letter before mailing it. They also lied about the credit reporting Agency that they use for checking your credit. I called the agency and found out that they never checked my credit and made a decision without any base. BIGGEST LIARS in the WORLD. A BANK THAT SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR ANY SERVICES.
Very uncivilized employees working at TD Bank. Worst bank to go to for any kind of services.
PLease do not go to TD Bank for any HOME LOANS OR ANY KIND OF LOANS. All you will get is a run around and than finally you will recieve a letter stating your loan has been declined.
I still don't understand how can JD POWER AND ASSOCIATES call them Number #1 they should be given the worst bank award.

The most unprofessional bank ever. This bank gave me a runaround for more than 6 months to process my loan. My loan was never processed and they are chargeing me Applications Fees in excess of $1, 500 for withdrawing my app. They have sweeped my bank account and when they found no money was there they charged my an overdraft fee.
I went to TD bank with good Credit and made an application for a cash-out loan. They have killed my investment and have have hit my credit rating.
