Late fees
Twice last year I was hit with $56.50 late fees for late mortgage payments. I use the web portal at https://tdbank.billeriq.com/ and the bill doesn't appear on the first of the month (maybe the 3rd?), and I think I get slapped with the fee if I don't pay by the 15th. In one case I paid on the 18th, and in the other, the 23rd. Each time this happened, and it almost happened again this month, it's because I pay all my bills at once on one of the first days of the month, and the TD bill wasn't there yet in the web portal.
I'd pay early or with a scheduled payment if the web portal told me how to. I don't understand why TD is charging me a late fee when it's only been possible for me to pay for about 10-13 days; Shouldn't I have a month? And why is the fee so high? It costs TD very nearly nothing if my payment is a few days late. They could at least pro-rate the fees. If I only had to pay for the days I was late in paying I think that would be much more reasonable - then I'd have been charged about $20 instead of $112.
Desired outcome: I'd like a full refund of $112.50, or a partial refund because I was late by 3 & 8 days, not two whole months.I'd also like web portal improvements. Say when the next bill will appear & be late and what will happen if I pay early.
Late payments
Hello, I'm a deployed veteran. I spent the last 9 months in the middle east while serving in the military. I had direct deposit set up with my td credit card account. While I was overseas, my direct deposit was no longer taking money out of my account and TD now said I had two late payments. When I finally came back to the U.S. after my deployment, I was seeking help from TD to remove the late payments from my account. TD refunded me my two late fees, however I still had two late payments reported to the credit bureau. TD had given me the address in which to mail or fax my information too so I can have them reach out to the credit bureau. I provided all the information I was asked for, and it's been several weeks without any follow-ups. The credit bureau hasn't received anything from TD after I reached out to them. I've been on the phone with TD multiple times in the last month and I keep getting transferred with my problem being unresolved. These two late payments they reported to the credit bureau have caused my credit score to drop unbelievably low to an extent that I can't even get a loan to buy a house. What TD is doing is adding to veterans being homeless. I can't stand this disservice.
Check Hold That Could Not Be Justified
I have had a bank account with TD Bank for over 20 years, banking when they were Commerce Bank. I am a school teacher and I deposited my check into the the mobile app for 1048,98. I also work at the Hilton in which I deposited that check into the mobile app for $753.58.. The school check was deposited on Saturday and the Hilton check was deposited on Wednesday. Both were done by a mobile app. Thursday some of my bills called and informed me that they had been returned. I immediately checked my account and noticed there was a hold on both of my checks. I called the bank and was informed that the hold was to ensure that the check would be paid. This very week my grandmother died. I was had nothing but $66 after putting 2 weeks of checks in the bank. I called supervisor who can not give me a reason for the holds. I am devastated because I can not get out of town without money. I will be closing this account as soon as I can. I no longer feel this bank is safe. They do not care for their customers.
Desired outcome: Clear my work checks immediately so I can go to my grandmother's funeral. Be honest with customers about Holds. And stop penalizing customers. Also cover the bills that had late fees.
I just spoke with a representative this date, June 7, 2022 at 6:30 pm who was extremely overbearing and hostile - she said that my bank account is being held until TD closes it and are refusing me to access the 480 dollars that is in the account. She said that I am not allowed to receive gifts or donations in the amount of 4,000 and that someone putting a mobile check in my account is not allowed. She also questioned that I received any email communication from TD after the last conversation with them when I filed a complaint directly to the bank. Why am I being penalized here? I also have Etransfers for a small business I do at home and that option is also canceled. The customer service rep said that she could not give me her last name and she also asked verifying questions that are not normally asked, like what kind of accounts do I have with TD and card # etc. When voice verification would confirm it is myself. Please escalate this concern immediately. My account is with the TD bank in Sarnia Lambton and I have had problems in the past with them changing due dates for payments, amounts changing etc which I voiced concern over then and I have every reason to believe they want to close the account to cover up something they did wrong.
customer service
I was trying to receive help, and one of the workers, a tall man with eye-glasses of east-asian descent, I believe his name was Daniel? I tried to approach him and he completely ignored me, walked pass by me and gave me a rude look. He went and helped another customer. I feel like I was racially profiled because of my skin tone and Latino facial features. You need to provide a better customer service please. What he did was not okay. All ethnic groups needs to be treated equally.
Fees
The most dishonest and incompetent bank imaginable. First they told me that if I had combined accounta balances of $1500 there would be no fee. Then they charged the fee anyway. It too three visits to the bank and one phone call for them to admit they should not have charged them and give me credit back. Then a few months later I noticed they had kept charging the fee. Then they said they were wrong to tell me that these two accounts could combiner their balances, and said they would refund the past fees anyway but they (over the phone) said they could only refund two fees, and I needed to go to the branch. At the branch they said they could only refund two fees at a time and would do the others later, but they never did.
Altogether I made five visits to the bank and four phone calls. Employees at the bank and the phone support regularly lie to pass the buck to the other employees. I have never received the refunds even though they agree that I should be refunded.
Desired outcome: The remaining $100 refund owed me.

Scam Letter via USPS
Received a letter from Michael Burlington from Toronto. Address

Email michael.[protected]@gmail.com
A relative with same last name has an account that is dormant for 3 years - $47,500,000.00 !
Wow -- how great! lol
Someone needs to stop this person before someone believes this
Same here. I just received a letter delivered via USPS from JEAN MACRAE who states that she is an account manager with a reputable investment bank in Canada. Letter states that a person with my last name passed away in 2012 and left an unclaimed inheritance of $9.2 million. The closest apparent relative that is on record is me. I am requested to email Ms. MACRAE with a show of interest using her email jmacrae@fairfaxlink.com. It's also interesting that the letter states that she believes that at this stage she believes that I am ready to keep this absolutely discreet until I am able to claim the funds from the bank. I sent her an email stating that she must first verify her identity and validate the claim.
TOO GOOD to BE TRUE.
deposit
I deposit a Check from Bethpage Federal Credit Union Bank Check for 7,283.86 on 2/1/2022. This is certified Bank check. TD bank put a ( 9 ) Nine Day hold on this check. This is a Business account I Can not have the mony on hold for over a week for NO reason. I called Bethpage Federal Credit Union the check was PAID on 2/2/2022.
If this is the way TD wants to do business I WILL CLOSE MY ACCOUNT AS SOON AS THIS CHECK CLEARS.
Desired outcome: CLEAR THE CHECK
i have an issue as well. I normally get direct deposit into my savings but due to a problem that was not mine i had to pick up my government cheque at 3:45 on friday september 29 2023. l dont own a vehicle but I ride my bike everywhere and that was not the problem. So i made my td bank at about 5:00 pm. It was tough (winnipeg drivers, 1 in 5 can drive 4 others think they can. i drove a tow truck for almost 20 years. anyway i got in line and waited over twenty minutes, no big deal. igot to the teller put my card in and away we go, iam a member for over ten years. l signed the cheque and wanted it cashed. the teller said they dont cash government cheques but they would gladley deposit it and hold it for 3to5 days! WHAT! This is a friday of the long weekend i wont get the money until tuesday of next week.i said this is [censored] i have to pay my rent my bills i have to plan well and this is just over the top. i asked her if she thinks government chegues bounce? so she got the manager and he said all my cheques are put on hold again i said [censored]! ihave never had a cheque held.i called him a lier and he told me to leave because i was causing a disturbence.i dint know what to say . i never felt discrimination like that!
I have a similar issue. I deposited a large check to my TD account Feb. 18, from a real estate transaction. Certified check from local real estate closing firm on local bank. I was first told 1 day hold. Now told March 2nd. Will close account the minute the funds are available.
Mortgage payments
I have a mortgage with TD Bank and I have been less than happy to say the least. I have set up automatic transfers through my TD Bank account to pay this mortgage. I have done this intentionally so that I am not confined to one institution as a payment method. I do realize that I have to change the amount every year due to increasing taxes and insurance. I forgot to change the amount in July and the amount I paid went into a Misc account and my Mortgage payment was late. I corrected the issue and TD Bank waived the late fee (Thank you). However, since then I have spoken to TD Bank and with their assistance, corrected the transfer. Yet it happened the next month. This time I was charged the late fee and Eugene explained that he listened to the phone call recordings and that his team did nothing wrong. Eugene said they have had issues like this before and you have to cancel the reoccurring transfer and start a new one instead of changing the amount of the transfer. Nothing I could say, but keep in mind I have been doing it this way since 2017. Imagine my surprise when I did what Eugene advised and the December payment was incorrect. I had to go this whole process again. I am fed up so I cancelled the automatic payment and set an alert on my calendar to do it manually. I then did a manual transfer and confirmed it went through. I checked my account a few days later, and I noticed that that transfer was reversed for unknown reason or notification. Also, a smaller amount was transferred from my account to my loan without authorization. I do not appreciate being gas-lighted about this issue
Desired outcome: Refund my late fee
Health Savings Account - Takes 9 days after making a deposit before funds are available
We made a deposit to our Health Savings Account on November 30, 2021. Today is December 7, 2021 and the funds are not showing in our balance. The check cleared our personal bank on December 8th... WHERE HAS MY MONEY BEEN? Earning TD Bank interest?
If anyone is considering opening an account with TD Bank think again. If anyone from TD Bank is looking at these reviews, listen and listen good. Shape up and remember who pays your salary. When people put money into a Health Savings Account, you can be sure they have some medical bills to pay. My husband has cancer and he should not have to spend his days chasing his money and being frustrated because the money is not in his account. He MOST DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPEND AN ENTIRE WEEK OF HIS PRECIOUS TIME DEALING WITH YOU TD BANK. We are mad as hell and you can bet we will tell everyone we talk to not to use TD BANK. Get out of the South! Close your banks and go somewhere else because we will not tolerate your policies and your customer treatment. YEP I am a proud Republican.
Desired outcome: To see TD Bank close
Mortgage services
My name is John Vandenberg and I carried a mortgage through your bank with my primary branch being the one on Simcoe Street in Beaverton, Ontario. We sold our house and paid out the mortgage as per the discharge documents provided. The bank refuses to discharge the mortgage and will not honour the statement and expect another $885.00 on top of the $21, 000.00 we already paid to you bloodsuckers.
Call me [protected] to explain and justify the virtually criminal extortion?
A very angry customer
John Vandenberg
Desired outcome: My mortgage discharge immediately
Montogomry's CC
Had an open and current account via Montgomery's Furniture store backed by TD Bank. 1 week before moving from South Dakota to NY i made a bulk payment to the card so we can use it to pay balance on our new furniture and get it picked up as we were moving within days. 2 days after the payment and it was still not showing on my credit limit, i called customer service and they advised me that it takes 10 business days for payment to reflect on credit limit.
They couldnt cancel the payment either... my money was going to be stuck in the card for 2 weeks and we needed to get our furniture to move.
I had to move the money and get the payment returned on purpose and paid the store out from my checking account. 2 days later payment reflected! and 2 weeks later they reduced my credit limit
I called Customer Service (who couldnt do anything) and credit department who told me that my credit score is a factor in reducing my credit limit. she didnt give me any details or proof, I asked to file a complaint but they dont have a system that takes complaints, just notes
Desired outcome: Increase the credit limit again
Checking/zelle account
I have had an ongoing problem with my account since Feb 2021 which has not been fully resolved to my satisfaction.
My account was hacked and $900 was withdrawn without my permission. I was not contacted by the bank that this occurred and had to reach out myself for an investigation. The bank has insisted all along that I authorized the transaction even after I provided a police report documenting who took the money out.
I have spent multiple hours and trying to get a resolution to this problem. I only received partial reimbursement after I filed a complaint with the Federal Consumer Protection Bureau.
I am still seeking a reimbursement of $450 on this account.
I have had this account for over 30 years and this is the customer service I receive! HORRIBLE. I WILL NEVER RECOMMENT TDBANK TO ANYONE.
The situation could have easily been resolved with a provisional credit. As a result of this situation my husband was denied a credit card due to his credit report. UNACCEPTABLE.
This bank does not care about its customers, especially those with 30 years of loyal committment.
Desired outcome: That the $450 remaining be returned to me.

Visa debit
I received a new Visa Debit card. Apparently, it cannot be activated unless I physically go to a store or ATM and use it. You used to be able to authorize the card by phone.
I am disabled. After hours on chat/phone with TD "customer service" I was told I MUST use the card in a store.
THAT will cost me $40 for a taxi to buy a pack of gum.
:(
If calling from my home phone this shouldn't be a problem - but it is.

MICHAEL BURLING using your name is scam date June 12th 2021 consisting of investment deposit with your bank of 47.5 million under late ENGR James Kielhorn and open beneficiary status.
Desired outcome: cease and desist using your bank on correspondence
checking/saving
I setup TD as an external account with another financial institution. Tried do to a xfer, but TD rejected it and returned the fund after a few days. no reason why? Also tried to make mobile deposits to meet the deposit requirement for a new savings account and these are taking weeks to clear?
Now I am wondering about the direct deposit I setup, will this also be rejected?
Desired outcome: resolve these problems
Mr Robert Mercer
Mr Mercer is a biggot and a racist. I was told by him that it should be kaw that a black man should not be able to earn 13000. I recently deposited a 13000 check that wasn't in my name. It was signed off in by all party's and people involved including TDs bank own fraud department. He has ignored every attempted, email and phone calls and correspondence to have the the no check status of my account lifted but instead closed my account with whole entire entiprise of TD bank . Mercer who is the branch manager at the Bluffton SC branch on University Park. He has personally called every TD bank and affiliates and blacked balled me only because of the color of my skin and the amount of 13000 dollars that was returned along with thousands of dollars of other's which I will never recover for my hard work sweat. How can a branch manager switch roles with the president of TD bank over night. It must be majic. No you see it now you don't.. Abracadabra hocus-pocus watch me make your account balance disappear. Majic? But to use a racist as it headliner has to be the greatest show on earth
Checking
I was the victim of a "vishing" scam. Someone called me from the actual TD Bank number and claimed that someone was trying to access my account from another state. They asked me to verify my account by providing my username and last 4, which I thought was odd, but then again, the ID on my phone said TD BANK! The caller then claimed to be sending me a "fraudulent" transaction, on text, which also came from the actual TD Bank number, to which I was to reply "Yes". Little did I know the transaction was actually real- and with that, this person was able to empty out my account.
When I called TD Bank, to inform them that this had happened, they said they had no power to file a dispute, until the 11 transactions were out of pending status. In essence, the criminal who stole my money had more protection to ensure that he received my money, then I had to keep my own money. Thereafter, I went to the branch and spoke with a customer service rep. She assured me that once the transactions were out of pending status, that they could issue a provisional credit. That took 3 days, at which time I returned to the branch. Upon returning to the branch I was then told that they had no power to issue me a provisional credit, and once again I had to wait for an investigation, which could take up to 10 business days. In the meantime, all of my money is gone.
This bank is well aware of this scheme. Yet, with all its undoubted billions of dollars, it has taken no steps to protect its customers, not even with a warning. I should not have had to Google the subject, to find out that this is actually possible. Since it does not even have to decency to warn its customers I'll do it here.
Beware, this scheme is happening. Criminals have actually figured out how to infiltrate this bank's number. If you get a call from "TD Bank", hang up and call the bank yourself.
Needless to say once I have received this credit I will be closing my account, after this terrible experience.
Desired outcome: Warn customers and issue provisional credits for fraud immediately.
Your problem appears to be with your phone company, not TD Bank. The phone company *knows* these scam calls don't actually come from the number that is shown on the caller ID -- they have separate ID information that they use for billing, and THAT is accurate, but they choose to allow callers to send fake caller ID information anyway. TD bank has nothing to do with the call appearing to come from them. The criminals could make the call appear to come from anywhere they want. Your phone company knowingly allows them do that.
