The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc Ahava-Burms Burmese Breeder sold a very sick kitten.

Has not followed the Code of Ethics! Sold a sick kitten and in less than a week the kitten has been to the vet twice with a fever, upper respiratory infection, oozing eyes. This is not right for a breeder to sell a sick kitten for $1500 and not disclose the illness.

What is the code of ethics for cat Fanciers Association?

I will breed my cats with the intent of improving the breed and to produce healthy, happy kittens. I will deal honestly with the purchasers of my kittens and cats. To the best of my knowledge and ability I will not, without prior disclosure, sell any kitten/cat that is sick or has been exposed to an infectious disease.

Desired outcome: she should not be allowed to show/breed burmese cats

The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc Sick kittens

This breeder is breeding very sick cats!

Rasia Gor aka Rasia Krivogorskaya she is the owner of Coonomagic Cattery in New York.

She is over breeding the Queens and don't test for herity issues. Despite being informed from past owners and their vets that the cats she sold are / were sick. Instead she blocks the customer and will still breed the Queen or King that is making the babies sick.

We paid $300 for Kylo and $2000 for Reya.

We have already spent close to $20.000 on these babies. Reya was just diagnosed with a Congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Called PPDH - peritoneal-pericardial diaphragmatic hernia

A congenital diaphragmatic hernia is present at birth likely caused by fetal development inside the womb.

A diaphragmatic hernia repair requires surgery. Surgery is done to place the abdominal organs into the proper position and repair. Reya has been sick since the first week got her.

Sadly Reyas brother Kylo passed away before his 3rd birthday at 2 years 10 months from Tricuspid Valve Dysplasia and HCM he had that diagnosis from the first week got him. But the breeder blocked me after the cardiologist called her to inform to stop breeding the Queen and King , and to get all the others checked.

I have a Facebook group with 20 others who also have or had bought very sick cats from this breeder.

I can provide any and all documents that support this. Including autopsy report from Kylo , echocardiograms from both cats and documents stating their conditions could of been prevented from veterinarians. The amount of documentation I have cannot be uploaded here the files are to large. If there is another way to summit them I will.

Thank you,

Kylo and Reya's human,

Michelle

http://www.coonomagic.com/index.html

Desired outcome: Refund for the two cats I bought. And would compensation for some of the veterinarian bills. But especially out of anything I want her to stop breeding!

The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc Purrfurdots ocicats

I purchased an Ocicat from this breeder in August 2020. I was told I would recieve paperwork showing their “purebred” lineage. It is now June 2022 and after numerous emails to this breeder I have still not received any paperwork. Last time I emailed, the response was “I’m bad with paperwork”. The time before that was “sorry short with funds”. The time before that was “when this litter is sold I will”. It has been excuse after excuse. I paid $700 dollars for a kitten I could have gotten at a shelter or off the street because without the proper paperwork the cat is considered a “short-hair domestic” not an Ocicat. She took advantage of me losing both of my cats in 2020 and it’s now not holding her part of the contractual agreement. Yes, I had to sign paperwork stating to get the kitten fixed at 6 months. But she cannot hold her end of the agreement. I do not recommend this breeder in any circumstance.

Desired outcome: The Pedigree paperwork or my money back

The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc Cat breeder 316902

Cat beeeder/Carter's #316902 I requested for female and paid all this money for a male. Top it off she said it came with vaccinations and papers I never got anything only her cats info. After numerous times I keep requesting but she said I could not till I purchase the cat then only I did she took 5 days to send me something wasn't even right. I keep taking my cat to the vet. It's was sick and also found out it's a male. Which I clearly didn't ask for now she won't respond. So be careful and be push before you buy a cat. Also when I bought it she had the poor cat in a paper bagged tied up look like it couldn't breathe. So sad.

The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc Dishonest bombay breeder

Hello we drove from NH to Lake Arial Pennsylvania to meet Zoe And Durkin a Well known Bombay Breeder . When we met her she arrived with a kitten inside a carrier . My wife and myself had to pay $1400 before being able to see our little male kitten we paid in full for. We paid then we got thr kitten into out car. Zoe and Durkin was already gone she didn't waste 1 minute she just drove off. We traveled almost 4.5 hrs to get home to Nh. The kitten adjusted well. When our veterinarian was finally able just after 2 weeks to give out kitten his Wellness check she said he's far from perfect he has only 1 testicle decended the rt testicle is inside him . We need to remove both testicle not 1. He could get cancer, he could and will spray all over your house. Our vet said please call the breeder she is a professional Bombay breeder she must have checked and knows his problem. She should pay for the upcharge in the neutering because I have to find the rt testicle. She sold you a complete male not a potentially sick one. You didn't know Arty because you obviously would not look but she would. I text Zoe Ann Durkin from Cat vocal Cattery and asked her if she would be so kind as to help us with this baby Bombay financially she said No! He is your entire responsibility now. All we wanted was help with his care! We were not asking her to pat all of it. She knew and never told us. Yes we are attached to this little Bombay now he is ours and will remain ours! How can you say No! You sold us a I'll kitten! Do you know what caring means all this breeding to you is a paycheck. Have a heart and please help us. You got $1400 from us ! And we payed the same amount as others who got male kittens with 2 testicle decended. Our neutering is more difficult more invasive to this baby Bombay. We are disappointed and hurt. We feel bad for you. Glad we are not money driven as you are

Desired outcome: Please help with the added $150 added to this neutering because we bought and payed for a perfect and healthy kitten not one that is sickly already

I know this breeder and I know you got a contract ahead of time stating that you need to set up a vet appointment within 72 hours of receiving the kitten. Sounds like you did not follow that part of the contract. As for the carrier, that is standard safety to leave the kitten in a carrier when not in a secure location. The $1400 you paid barely covers the expenses of breeding. This breeder is not making money off of this. They do it for the love of the breed and as a hobby. It sounds like you didn’t do your due diligence in reading and following the contract and are now trying to shame a reputable breeder.

The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc sick kitten

Breeder/Cattery#260992. I purchased a kitten from Leah on 6/1/2019. I took the kitten to my vet who diagnosed him with a severe case of Coccidia. They prescribed him Albon. I notified the breeder at which time she told me one of her Queens had this parasite about a year ago and it spread through her Cattery. She initially reimbursed me for the medication. I have had to take him to another vet in order to obtain a different medication. She now refuses to reimburse me and is saying he got Coccidia due to stress. Coccidia is due to dirty litter boxes. She sent me a picture of him and his litter mates playing in dirty litter boxes. Her Cattery is not clean and as a result there is an issue with parasites. She needs to be fined and/or shut down.

Coccidia in young kittens is very dangerous. It comes from another infected cat (usually the mother.). It does not come from stress!
The treatment for this nasty parasite is not tolerated well in kittens whose immunity and digestive systems are not fully developed.
If you buy a kitten, most contracts state you must have it examined within a short period. If your sweet baby is positive for Coccidia, infection occurred 2 weeks prior as it takes that long for symptoms to show up.
Diarrhea In kittens is not normal…a reputable breeder knows that.

The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc unethical company

This review isn't directed towards the entire company so much as it is directed towards a few individuals that work for the company.

Let's try and make a long story short here. First I want to mention a few names here.
Teresa Sweeney - CFA Ombudsman
Linda Berg - CFA Animal Welfare
Melissa Watson - Administrative Associate/Protests & Breed Council

I had emailed Teresa Sweeney about wanting to submit a complain against Geri Cerelli Fellerman for knowingly selling me a sick kitten with the coronovirus whom she had a history of losing kittens in her cattery to FIP. But anyways, me and Teresa went back and forth with hundreds of emails for weeks upon weeks only for her to come back at the end saying she can't do anything because there is only one complaint against Geri. She then got rude and told me she will not respond to me any more and to end the conversation. Seemed as though she didn't truly understand the severity of the situation or was siding with the breeder, not sure.
Linda Berg basically had the same response to me.

Melissa Watson was my last hope. I had gotten a hold of her my trying to go above and beyond the heads of the CFA welfare and ombudsmans people to a higher party. I explained everything to Melissa Watson, about my case with Geri, and what I had experienced through email with the other two ladies. She seemed very empathetic and seemed like she truly though something could be done about this.
She encouraged me to send in ALL the correspondences between me and Geri, Teresa, and Linda. And as I'm sure you know, that is A LOT of paperwork to gather up. So I took time out of my day for the next two weeks to gather up everything. Emails, pictures of the kitten, screenshots of Facebook messages. Everything. I paid money to have it shipped to Melissa office, only to get am email back basically saying sorry we don't even cover these types of cases...

I emailed Melissa back basically saying "what the hell? Why did you have me spend my money and my time to send you all of this when you knew from the beginning that this case wasn't even going to be looked at?"
She didn't even remember me, after reminding her I go this for a response.

"I apologize for your sending the information to no avail. This is my second week back to CFA doing Protests. If someone else in the office advised you on this, once again, my apologies."

I reminded her again and got this response.

"Dear Leah,

Ok - I do remember now.

I discussed this matter with the Protest Chair yesterday, and he instructed me to send you yesterday's email regarding the reasons. There is nothing further I can provide. I am sorry.

Melissa"

This is very frustrating that this company didn't do anything to help me out, and that I was again lead on by another dead end. Very upsetting with the way CFA handles cases like this.

This breeder sells sick kittens and sold a “retired breeder” cat unspayed with pyometra. When confronted with vet evidence, the breeder didn’t even know what pyometra was.

Unfortunately, there are bad breeders out there.
Crazynativebaby, I hope you file a case in small claims court against this one. Don't go to Complaints against Cat Breeders for help.

I'm certain that RoseMarie Zizzo (hiding behind the name complaints against cat breeders) would be delighted to hold your hand and walk you through the CFA complaint process--for a fee, of course. She knows a great deal about it. First hand knowledge. Ms. Zizzo is BANNED FOR LIFE FROM REGISTERING, EXHIBITING, OR ANY SERVICE OFFERED BY THE CAT FANCIERS' ASSOCIATION.
Why, you ask? Ms. Zizzo has a nasty habit of harassing folks she doesn't agree with, which is pretty much anyone she's encountered in her life. Some of the folks she's made a career of harassing are her fellow pedigreed cat breeders. That falls under the classification "conduct detrimental to the cat fancy".

There was one other thing, that got Ms. Zizzo banned. When she got tired of her pedigreed cats, (because they sprayed, cost too much to feed, take to the vet, weren't making her enough money, but mainly because she had in excess of 40 cats in a trailer park that only allowed two pets per residence.), RoseMarie Zizzo would dump them at a kill shelter known for it's high kill rate. Yes, that's right. The saviour of pedigreed cats has disposed of numerous cats at a kill shelter. More than once.

Wow. Sounds like someone I'm going to take advice from. NOT!
