The Feather Emporium has criminal tendencies. Products got back to his shop, money was never refunded.
I made an order from Germany in October 2020 for aubout 223 USD.
The items got stuck at the customs and they needed some information from the dealer, so I tried to get in contact with David.
As I read in other Forums, it is nearly impossible to get in contact with David if there is a problem, and it was the same thing in my case. No answer over weeks.
So the items were sent back to the shop and this was lasting very long, because the shipping was delayed because of the Corona-Problems.
In January, I started a claim over PayPal, because I wrote David several times to ask him, if the package got back to him, because I didn't get any information from the post offices in Germany and USA. Like a little wonder, David answerded the claim and told me, that all this wasn't his fault and that it wasn't right, to start a claim. He hadn't heard nothing from the package and because I don't wanted to be unfair, I thought that I will not pursue the PayPal claim further. That was a big mistake, because a claim over Paypal is the only way to get contact to David.
So in March 9, 2021 I got the information from USPS, that the package had been delivered back to The Feather Emporium. Since then i wrote so many E-Mails to David, but never got an answer for a single one of them. For sure I would accept, that the costs for the shipping would not be refunded, but of course I haven't got a single Dollar back, so The Feather Emporium stole me over 200 USD.
I am very sad about this behavior and it hurts me and my family that the money is gone for nothing.
As I read in many other forums, The Feather Emporium is a good shop, if everything goes fine. But if you have just the smallest problem with your order, you stand alone and never get helped from David. I think the circumstance, that I am from Germany, increases Davids ignorance.
It's a shame and I wouldn't recommend that shop to any other customer.
Desired outcome: Get my money back.

Items never received
I placed an order in November 2020 and to date I have not received my items.
I emailed Dave several times. The first time he told me that I needed to change some items ordered - which I did. The second time I contacted him he pretended that he was very busy and the order would be shipped soon with pictures. Still no items, I asked him to provide a tracking number, no response. I suggested that he was scamming me. Then he created a shipping label through USPS but no items have been picked up for tracking by USPS. Dave has now gone silent.
I also contacted Pay Pal and informed them - they say they can't do anything because the I notified them out side of their complaint "window"
Took my money and I've never received product.
I placed my order on October 14th for 146.50 worth of feathers.
I never received a confirmation email.
I have never received feathers.
I was REALLY excited because their feathers look amazing and the website states that they have, "a no questions asked return policy", and, "If you order feathers from me and not happy for some reason, please contact me right away and I will resolve the problem."
In the time of CoVid, I pray the seller is healthy and all my frustration is not because he is unwell... If so, I will pray for his well being. I have had no contact with seller and have been trying to resolve this issue since the end of October.
I called the seller ten times and only got the voicemail that was full so I could not leave a message. I have tried emailing the seller and no response.
I am trying to resolve the issue with PayPal directly and it has been three weeks and I have not gotten feathers or my money back.
My money was taken over 6 weeks ago and I have received nothing. I can't contact the seller to resolve this issue. How much time does it take for taking someone's money in exchange of goods, and not sending the goods to become theft?
I am close to calling the local police department of this company and pressing charges.
I would LOVE to resolve this!
problem with return
I place a small order with Feather Emporium about 2 months ago. One item turned not to be exactly what I wanted and, since the web site states a "no questions asked return policy", I called Dave and, following his instructions, sent the item back for an exchange. BIG MISTAKE. It's been over a month since he received my return. After 4 or 5 phone calls, broken promises, and no action, I have pretty much given up. Do not deal with this company.
The policy should state "no questions ask return policy because we don't have a return policy".

Feather Emporium is not safe! My item was not in stock.
I found such a great deal on Feather Emporium website and was super excited about my order. Time passed and order did not show up so I contacted them to get the latest news about my order status and wasn't happy when they said that order was cancelled. They said that my order was no longer available and promised a refund which wasn't given.
Gladly I paid via PayPal and they helped me to get my money back. Don't buy from this site without any buyer protection. Feather Emporium is not safe, stay away!
Feather Order
I purchased $160USD worth of feathers back in June via PayPal. The paypal transaction confused David of Feather Emporium and he didn't actually get to shipping product until a few months later. Or so he SAID. Months went by. I'd check in and he'd tell me there was an issue with the post office. Really? More months went by. He ignored my texts, my e-mails and always picks up the phone just to give me the run around. I'm FURIOUS with his POOR SERVICE and this is the first bad review I have ever posted online. EFF YOU FEATHER EMPORIUM. All my friends were really looking forward to getting feather extensions but due to his poor communication and ripping me off it's a service I cannot provide for the demand. Way to really blow it, Feather Emporium. You could've had yourself a loyal client.
Bad website
I was disappointed with services of the website www.featheremporium.com . I ordered feathers from them 2 months ago. They charged me, but their tracking number didn’t work, but now it shows that the order had been delivered. I contacted the seller, but he kept silence. I don’t know what measures to take in order to return money. Maybe someone here had similar things with this seller, and can provide good advice. Thanks.

Made an order with them and they never sent it out!
Thief
Hi my name is Roxy. Im from California where feather extentions are really popular so. Finding the "FEATHER EMPORIUM" was a big hit for me. The prices where competitive and the selection is awesome.
My first order was of $700 including fat, skinny, solid, and grizzly feathers.
I was so happy with my purchase. The only thing that bothered me was that the color of the feathers where not the colors i saw online. For some including chartreuse and green. Not that big of a deal if I did nothing about it. Still happy.
For my second order was the worst online experience EVER! This order was of $1300+ Including... 150 COUNT HOT COLOR KIT, EARTH TONES KIT & a kit that did not exist but was hoping for a FAT FEATHER COMBO KIT worth $500.
BIG MISTAKE!
Not only does it say online at www.featheremporium.com that the kits are 150 count BUT. If you read carefully it states this ...
Hot Colors Kit: Includes 12 feathers each of 11 bright colors, half dyed on grizzly and the others dyed on white. Your base colors are grizzly, black, and white; you'll recieve 10 of each.
OK so if you add it up. It adds up to 162.
I didn't notice at first but he doesn't send you an invoice so. I counted all my feathers and weather if he honored 150 or 162 i was still missing feathers. I never counted the first time I order so again no big deal.
I also received the FAT FEATHER kit that I was really excited about but. Again was disappointed. I thought i was going to get a good amount of colors for $500 but instead I received 4 colors 40 of ea. color. UNNECESSARY amounts of one color considering I asked for "as many colors I can get for $500"
SO...
I called to resolve the issue the day I received my order in JUNE of 2011 and. Told him everything I'm telling you right now. Assuring myself that what he states on his website was honest and true. WHICH IS...
*Return Policy - If you receive your order and are not happy with it in some way, please contact me. There are absolutely not returns on fashion feathers sold on full or half saddles. Any returns will be charged a 15% restocking charge.
This is because a few have ordered saddles and after receiving them, plucked feathers and then returned them wanting a full refund. We can not count each feather on every saddle we sell, so there is no other way to deal this problem.
If you have ordered loose feathers such as feather bundles and not happy for some reason, please contact me immediatly and I will resolve the problem. I, in no way, want you to be unhappy with feathers you purchase from me.
Dummy me
Point taken right. WELL thats not ALL. I send them back overnight shipping ASAP. Hoping to receive them back even sooner. Well. he gets the feathers and says sure e-mail me the colors you want and Ill get them out to you asap. well a few days later he tells me that those aren't the feathers he sent me, he doesn't even carry those type of feathers, or the colors or the length ... I did tell him I did everything I could to prevent confrontation and the situation he put me in. He says he's going to call me back to resolve it. WELL. I call back the next day and its as if he forgot the whole thing ever happened and was promising me he'd send them by the end of the week. That I would receive everything... A month later that he ran out, was waiting for his order to come in, was waiting to dye them, (2 months pass) waiting for the orders to be put to put together by his shippers and now he's moving his shop, AND SICK!
This was ongoing with excuses for 11 weeks until he actually says he sent them and that he would send me the tracking number. 10 days later and a call a day later no tracking number and no package. No answer and ignored. I file a claim to paypal and my bank. He finds out about the claim. Answers my call after a couple of days and after he found out about the claim. I told him I filed the claim because of all this commotion and told him no package no tracking and asked if he even sent the package at all. WELL his response was that " to be really really quite honest with you I dont even carry those feathers ...blah blah." so I asked him a few times "so you never sent the package and there was NO TRACKING #" ...

Update: similar experience to those described here and on many other forums. Placed a $200 order with this guy, label printed immediately, 3 weeks go by and UPS never got the shipment. Multiple phone calls and emails for another month, all polite enough conversation and with no impatience on my part, did absolutely nothing to fix the issue. Just assurances of "I'll ship the package tonight" with zero follow up, and ignored most calls and all emails. Eventually had to go through Paypal a few months after placing the order and got a refund that way. Don't bother with this place, they don't care about taking care of customers.
I did business with Feather Emporium a few years ago and was very satisfied with products I received. lately, I have read negative comments about this company, but needed a new badger neck. So, first I called David to see if he had a nice one in stock. He did, so I hung up and ordered it via PayPal. Three business days later (today), I received a VERY nice badger neck in the mail. Very pleased with the transaction. Please, folks, give the guy a break! He has some very nice product, and he appreciates your business. I will be calling him again for more feathers. Jim
I too have been ripped off by David at Feather Emporium. I'm a fly tyer and ordered a set of feathers from this individual on Jan 26, 2018. He took my money and shipped no product. I've called and emailed him. He doesn't respond to email and on phone calls only promises to call back, which he never does. It's now Feb. 17 and I have not had a single positive response from David. I've read complaints from other fly tyers who have had similar experiences. He's clearly very practiced at stealing from his customers. Avoid this outfit.
Did you ever receive your feathers or a refund regarding this order?
Same here. You pay, he sents a trackingnumber but never delivers a package to the mailorder company. Does not respond to phonecalls or e-mails. Just another internet fraud. I got refunded by PayPal and hope they will ban him. Internet is full with the same stories.
UPDATE = Whiting Farms is no longer supplying David, at Feather Emporium, with any feathers. Here is the quote, from the e-mail, I received from Whiting Farms: I am sorry for your experience with Feather Emporium. Although Dave Roberts is selling Whiting Farms products, he is no longer a dealer for us. He has bought thousands of pelts from us in the past and I would guess he still has a large amount of our product to move. We do not have him listed as one of our dealers and we do not encourage anyone to purchase from him. Again, I apologize for any inconveniences. (End of quote.) This came directly from the Sales Manager at Whiting Farms. Therefore, DO NOT BUY FEATHERS FROM FEATHER EMPORIUM people, it`s that simple, regardless of what you are using the feathers for.
Okay, that is your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it. However, I feel that you are missing the point. Regardless of the intended use for the feathers, David is ripping people off, and appears to have been doing so for a few years now. That is not okay. People are getting screwed out of their hard earned money, and Whiting Farms is essentially supporting this situation by continuing to supply David with feathers. I believe that David likely does receive hundreds, maybe even thousands of orders, but it appears that he is not filling any of these orders, regardless of what the customer is intending to do with the feathers. He takes the order, takes the money, but doesn`t fill the order. He makes promises to people in e-mails and on the phone, which are never kept.
If it was a situation where David just didn`t want to sell feathers for cosmetology purposes, then I guess that is his right. However, again, that is not the case. My husband ties flies, I tried to get some info from David, and was then going to place an order for my husband for his b-day. However, I again got the run around. A few months later, I decided to try for some hair feathers, and the same thing happened all over again. No responses, lot`s of promises, no feathers.
Tied flies are art? Okay, I will give you that one. However, there are people out there, including myself, who use the feathers to create beautiful pieces of jewelry, that will also last decades (if treated properly) - also art. Further, many of the pieces created to be worn in the hair are also created by artists. I had my first feather put in my hair about 5 years ago. Wear it once? NEVER! That feather was in my hair for about 6 months. That same feather is now on my earring, which I wear every day without fail. Yes, 5 years later, I am still wearing, and respecting that same feather. Throw one away. NEVER!
Sure, when the hair craze came about, it likely created a shortage of feathers. However, farms such as Whiting, will adjust their production levels, and there will be enough feathers for all, fly tiers, and hair tiers alike. Can we all not just live in harmony?
Surely, you can see, by reading the information on this site, and regardless of your opinion about people and hair feathers, that David is taking peoples hard earned money = he is a THIEF!
.
Most people rarely, if ever, follow up a complaint stating their matter was indeed resolved. I would take these complaints with a grain of salt. It is possible Mr. Roberts chose not to sell to you for his own reasons as is his right as a personal business owner. Based on your tantrum filled posts I would say he made the correct decision.
LOL, ya, that's it... Whiting farms developed these lines of roosters so women could wear the feathers in their hair once then throw them away. OMG get a clue
Items I make with these feathers are art and will last decades
Point is, if you don't like the way David does business, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE and quit harassing the man, if you don't have the patience to wait until David weeds through all the whining hair dressers to get to your order GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Constantly harassing David only slows down shipments to those who are using the product for their intended purpose
I live in Canada, and have been trying for over 2 months to get Dave to give me a quote on a Special Order. I`ve called, several times, I`ve e-mailed, several times. He always says he will do it. He has even said he will do it right away. But I never get my quote. After reading all the stuff I have read today about Feather Emporium, and Dave, I think I will just order elsewhere. I don`t want to risk losing money, and it sounds like Dave is a crook. To anyone who is still going to order from him, even after you have read all of this...well if you lose your money, you only have yourself to blame. If everyone stopped ordering from him, then he would be out of business wouldn`t he?
To the person who doesn`t agree with the feathers being used for cosmetology purposes - who died and made you GOD. How do you know the feathers weren`t made for hair and not fly tying. What gives you any more right to the feathers than me?
To Whiting Farms - why, oh why are you still supplying Dave, Feather Emporium, with feathers - after all your years of work, you really want a guy like Dave out there representing your Company?
David is a great guy and runs a great business for FLY TYERS! IMO he has been overwhelmed by the "hair extension" fad
These feathers were never meant to be wasted in such a way, and I have no sympathy for people who are misusing a product and overwhelming him with ridiculous orders and whiney demands, please go back to using mouse and hair spray and leave this FLY TYING product to people who will respect them
Dave Roberts is a scam artist - will work to expose his fraudulent practices.
Worst Customer experience ever. He doesn't know the basics of responding to emails or phone calls or knowing how set up a correct check out process. I will never use again.
Stay away from Feather Emporium and David Roberts. I placed an order from him and never received the feathers. David told me they probably got lost in the mail and would send them again. Well, he never sent the second order and doesn't take my calls. He told me he would call me back and never made good on his promises. Your wasting your time and money dealing with this company and David Roberts. This guy is a thief!
