Extremely satisfied
We have been purchasing books for over a year from ThriftBooks. We discovered this company during Covid, when going to public libraries wasn't an option. It was for us, a LIFESAVER! We've bought about 35 books of different genres, condition ratings, and price values. We have never been unhappy with any of our purchases. They have always been delivered within the expected time frame, if not before. Many have come in better condition than we expected(such as a book listed as fair or good condition, yet being in a new condition, seemingly never been opened). We have been able to purchase many books for low prices, enabling us to buy some books we otherwise couldn't have afforded new, or otherwise allowing us to be able to buy more. We have nothing negative to say about this company and will continue to order and to recommend it to others.
Top Notch Selection & Customer Service
Impressed is an understatement regarding ThriftBooks Chicago's customer service. So much so, that I am choosing to write my review before I have my product in hand (I will attach pictures & additional info when I do). I received a delivery notification 5 days before the expected delivery date. However, my package was no where to be seen (I haven't had any issues regarding missing packages since moving to this neighborhood). Frustrated, I contacted the seller on a Saturday evening explaining everything with a message to expect a response within 2 business days. Today, SUNDAY MORNING, I had an email from Heather in customer service apologizing for my not receiving the book I ordered and the tracking info for a replacement that they have already sent out. For the lack of a better term, I am blown away with the quality of customer service I have received.

Love, love, love thirftbooks.com This site links a number of used bookstores and all their inventory. The listed prices_include shipping_ so you know exactly what you are paying with no nasty surprises at checkout. I am sick and tired of finding an older/used book and getting to the check out page to find the shipping costs are 3x the book cost!
You can navigate their menu tree by book genre or search by author or title. A search result shows you all the available copies of the book. From that search you can narrow down by hard/paperback, price, book condition. Excellent search capabilities.
Another nice surprise is if you order 2 books from the same location (listed in all search results) you get an additional $. 50 off per book. Nice.
I've purchased from here for years, from sites all over the country and have always been pleased that the items showed up on time (or earlier) and have been in the condition as described.
Highly recommended.

Had a great experience!
As with any online order there are always an issue here and there, which is expected but in my experience with Thriftybooks.com (which has been limited) I had absolutely no issues. The books came in a timely manner and in better condition then I expected. The cost for the books along with free shipping was excellent so I have no complaints. I sent an email to the company asking a question and the response was very quick! I watched the order as it traveled across the US to me and everything was smooth and quick. I would recommend purchasing from them to anyone and I will purchase again in the near future. Those who are purchasing from a used location need not expect perfect just a fair price, that being said, I did order the gently used book and paid a small amount more, but totally worth it, even the dust cover was in perfect shape! Saved me a considerable amount of money for the books I needed. Although you also need to watch who you are purchasing through because if it is Amazon you may not be purchasing through the actual company so check who the seller is.
Thank you Thriftybooks.com!
So called customer o mer service
Thriftbooks: Your chat line offered a resolution which was the very problem I was asking for help on. You list a phone number with an extra digit at the end. Try one digit you get a sales pitch for medic alert bracelets. Try the other you get nothing. Up till now I have loved ordering books from you. However if this is what you call Customer Service you have list a steady customer.
Recommendation: Don't expect customer service.
I am trying to resove a problem with an order. The chatline apparently could not comprehend the issue as the resolution offered was the opposite of what I requested. The phone number listed for customer support has an extra digit. I tried both last digits - one went to Medical Alert bracelets and the other didn't go anyemwhere.
I just wrote a very angry review about trying to get help. Chatline was ridiculous. One of the listing on website lists an 8 digit phone number for customer service. I tried both last digits - to no avail. I kept trying - finally got a recording that kept referring me to chat or online help. I tried again and FINALLY found the magic key to a live person. I got Justin. He was wonderful. He solved my issue immediately. It shouldn't be so difficult to get a live person, but the effort payed off.
Mixed Experience with ThriftBooks: Great Service but Poor Ethics and Customer Relations
I've been using ThriftBooks for a long time now, and I must say that I am quite satisfied with their service. I usually purchase books from them around five times a year, and I have only had a couple of instances where the books were not up to my expectations. However, most of the time, I have been quite happy with my purchases.
In fact, I was so impressed with ThriftBooks that I recommended it to my mom. She was looking for a particular book from a collection that she had lost over the years. I found it on ThriftBooks, and after we reviewed the book's condition, she asked me to buy it for her. I did, but unfortunately, when the book arrived, she was quite disappointed.
The book was an old library book, and they had painted black and white numbers on the spine. When she put it in her library, it looked really tacky and did not fit in with the rest of the series of books. When I looked at the listing again, it was obvious that the photo was not the same book that was sent. I contacted customer service, and they stated that they researched the order and found that it was the same book. However, they did offer to take the book back, but I would not be reimbursed for the shipping costs.
I sent them photos of the book that was offered and the book that was sent, and I told them that it was false advertising and ethically wrong. Unfortunately, they never replied back to me, which was quite disappointing. For this reason, I am giving them one star for poor ethics and customer relations.
Overall, I still think that ThriftBooks is a great service, and I will continue to use them in the future. However, I do hope that they will improve their customer service and ethics in the future.
Mixed Experience with ThriftBooks: Great Rewards System, But Shipping Issues
I have been a loyal customer of ThriftBooks for many years now. I am a big fan of used books and don't mind if they have some wear and tear. In fact, I love it when I come across a book that has been written in or highlighted by its previous owner. It gives me a glimpse into their thoughts and opinions.
One of the things I love about ThriftBooks is their rewards system. I order books from them every other week and have accumulated quite a few points over the years. However, I have been experiencing some shipping issues lately. In the past, I would receive my books within 4-5 days of placing my order. But the last few times, it has taken at least 2 weeks for my books to arrive.
The most recent incident was particularly frustrating. After placing my order, the website said that my package had been shipped. But when I clicked on the USPS tracking link, it said that the label had been created but the package was not in the system. I waited for 2 weeks and the tracking information was never updated. I decided to email ThriftBooks to see if they could help me out.
To their credit, they responded to my email almost immediately. They told me that the USPS had probably missed scanning the package for tracking. I waited a few more days and decided to contact the USPS directly. To my surprise, they called me from my local post office and told me that the status actually meant that the shipper had created a label but never dropped off the package.
I emailed ThriftBooks again to let them know what the USPS had told me. Unfortunately, they didn't try to solve the issue by actually shipping my books. Instead, they issued a refund with no apology. I was disappointed because I didn't want a refund, I wanted my books.
Overall, I think I may have to take a break from using ThriftBooks. If I am always having shipping issues and can't even be sure that I will eventually receive my books, it's just a waste of time. I started using ThriftBooks to avoid using Amazon, but it looks like I may have to go back to them for now.
Mixed Feelings About Thriftbooks: A Review of My Experience
I recently made a purchase on Thriftbooks and I have mixed feelings about my experience. I was on the hunt for a rare, out-of-print book that I've been wanting for a while and was thrilled to find it available on their website. However, when my package arrived, I was disappointed to find that the book I received was not the one I ordered. In fact, it was a completely different book that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. I reached out to their customer service team to try and rectify the situation, but unfortunately, they were unable to provide me with the book I had originally ordered as it was no longer available. They did offer me a refund, but it was disappointing to have my hopes dashed after getting excited about finally finding the book I had been searching for.
In addition to the mix-up with my first book, I also ordered a copy of Lord of the Rings with a specific cover design in mind. However, when my package arrived, the book had a different cover than the one I had selected. While this wasn't a huge issue, it was frustrating to find out that the cover design pictured on the website may not be the one you receive. It would have been helpful if this information had been disclosed upfront.
Overall, my experience with Thriftbooks was a bit disappointing. The shipping time was also longer than I expected. However, I do appreciate that they offered me a refund for the book that was sent in error. While I may consider ordering from them again in the future, I will definitely be more cautious and double-check all the details before making a purchase.
Disappointing Experience with ThriftBooks: Lengthy Shipping Times and Lack of Communication
I recently had an experience with ThriftBooks that left me feeling quite frustrated. I placed an order on July 8th and as of July 21st, I had yet to receive it. The tracking information stopped updating after the 15th, leaving me unsure of the status of my order. I reached out to customer service and was informed that my order had been shipped on July 10th and was being delivered via DHL GlobalMail. While I appreciated the response, I was disappointed to learn that delivery could take anywhere from 4 to 14 business days.
As someone who is used to receiving packages quickly, I found this to be an unreasonable amount of time to wait for a shipment within the US. I expressed my frustration to customer service and even went so far as to request a refund. While I understand that shipping times can vary, I felt that three weeks was far too long to wait for a package.
Despite my negative experience, I do appreciate that ThriftBooks offers affordable prices on a wide range of books. I also appreciate that they use DHL GlobalMail as a shipping option, as it allows for lower shipping costs. However, I would caution potential customers to be aware of the potential for longer shipping times when choosing this option.
Overall, I was not satisfied with my experience with ThriftBooks and would hesitate to order from them again in the future. While I appreciate the affordability of their books, the lengthy shipping times and lack of communication left me feeling frustrated and disappointed.
Thriftbooks Review: Pros and Cons of Buying Used Books Online
Thriftbooks is a great website for purchasing used books, but there are a few things to keep in mind before making a purchase. Firstly, prices can fluctuate wildly from day to day, sometimes by as much as $5-$6 on the same item. While books are priced according to condition, it can be frustrating to see the same book priced differently on different days. Additionally, while prices over $10 come with free shipping, it's worth noting that some items sold on Ebay by Thriftbooks also come with free shipping under $10, which can be unfair to those who primarily use Thriftbooks to purchase used books.
One thing to keep in mind when using Thriftbooks is the "Free Book" perk. While you do earn points from purchasing on the website or app, these points can only be redeemed for what is essentially a $5 store credit. However, it's worth noting that this credit can only be used on books priced at $5.09 or above, which can be frustrating when trying to use the credit on cheaper books. Additionally, the credits cannot be combined to purchase more expensive books, which can be a drawback for those looking to purchase pricier items.
It's also important to do your research before purchasing a book on Thriftbooks. While prices are usually good, there are times when books are priced higher than what you would pay on Amazon or from the publisher. It's worth checking other websites before making a purchase to ensure that you're getting the best deal possible.
Despite these drawbacks, Thriftbooks is still a great website for purchasing used books. The free shipping is a nice perk, and customer service is generally good. If you do encounter any issues with your order, Thriftbooks is quick to resolve them. While there are other websites to consider when searching for a particular item, Thriftbooks is definitely worth checking out.

Wrong Book
I bought two books from this site. One of them was a rare, out-of-print book that I've wanted badly for a while, so I was excited to find it on Thriftbooks. They only had one available copy. Unfortunately, when my package came, it was the wrong book (the extremely boring book pictured below). It was a completely random book that had nothing to do with what I ordered--not the same author, genre, or even the same language! I emailed them, hoping to return the wrong one and have them send me the correct book as a replacement. But they said they no longer had it available, so they wanted me to just keep the wrong book and refunded me instead. Clearly, they sent my valuable book to someone else, and they didn't want to do anything to rectify that. It was so disappointing to get my hopes up that I would be getting a book I'd been searching a long time for, only to find out it was the wrong one.
In the same order, I bought a copy of the Lord of the Rings. I bought it with the understanding that I'd be getting the cover design that was pictured (as there were many covers to choose from, and I chose the cover I liked best). It came with a different cover. They don't disclose this upfront, but when you read their help section, it says that the pictures displayed for the books may not be the actual book they send. It's not the biggest issue in the world, but they do need to be more forthcoming about that when you order.
This was my first time ordering through Thriftbooks, and neither books came as I expected. The shipping time was also pretty long. Disappointed.
Never Again!
I have ordered books from Thrift Books quite a few times in the past and have always been pleased with their service. I've never had a problem with shipping or shipping times, with one exception. When one book never showed up, I contacted them and a a replacement was immediately sent.
Placed an order recently for 4 books, and received the customary note that I should expect them within 4-8 business days. No problem. The books were shipped immediately from Atlanta, GA and Dallas, TX. I live in Arkansas. After a few days I went to 'track your shipment' to see the status. Found out that both packages had been sent to Glendale Heights, IL and were still sitting there; not in a post office, but at a "USPS Shipping Partner?" This 'partner' is One Stop Mailing (OSM).
Did a search on OSM and read a number of horror stories: numerous people detailed how their packages (from various retailers, not specifically Thrift Books) had went to Glendale Heights, IL---and just sat! Some said that it was over 2 weeks before the packages were shipped from Illinois. I'm not certain what a 'shipping partner' is or what it does. I'm thinking that there must be some economical benefit to companies to use them, but it certainly escapes me how sending a book from Texas and Georgia to the Chicago area and then---hopefully?---sending it to me in Arkansas makes sense?
I'm sorry to see this happen. I've basically used Thrift Books to obtain missing volumes of mystery series that my local library doesn't have, and it's worked well. But as far as I'm concerned now, I won't even check TB any longer---unless I can opt out of OSM or something similar being involved. The USPS provides direct service from Dallas and Atlanta to Arkansas, but that must not be an option any longer?
They used to be good

You can give me my money back.
Thats what you can do.
I could have read those books in the time it takes to have them shipped.
I can send a note from Texas to New York and it gets there in 4 days.
Nothing should take 3 $#*!ing weeks to be shipped in the US.
I could have probably walked to Georgia and back in that time.
I am NOT Satisfied... and I want my money back.

I ordered After the miracle. the political crusade's of Hellen keller. Order # [protected]. I received the book The miracle written by Irving Wallace. I received February 6 2023. I think the explanation is clear but you are wanting more words, which seems silly. Today is a nice sunny day for February . I'm not sure how many words it take to say I received the wrong book. I did not get the book I ordered. I think I'll try it now.

ThriftBooks: A Disappointing Experience with Zero Accountability
I recently made a purchase on ThriftBooks for a used book that I needed for my studies. I was willing to pay over $10 for it because I needed it "immediately". However, when the package arrived, I was disappointed to find that the wrong book had been sent to me. To make matters worse, the book that I received was only valued at $4.99.
I immediately contacted ThriftBooks to explain the situation and to ask if they could send me the correct book. However, I was met with a cold response that simply said, "Contact Abe Books". There was no apology or any indication that they were willing to help me in any way. All they seemed to care about was getting their book back.
What really bothers me about this situation is that I believe it was an intentional oversight by ThriftBooks. I think they are purposely sending out lower priced books to customers who have ordered a book that costs twice as much. It's an easy way for them to make a profit, but it's not fair to the customer.
Returning the wrong book is a total inconvenience for me, especially since I am older and I am also helping my disabled husband manage his daily activities. It's ridiculous that I have to go through all of this trouble just because ThriftBooks made a mistake.
Overall, I am extremely disappointed with ThriftBooks. They have zero accountability and they don't seem to care about their customers at all. They simply pass the buck and don't give a crap about the inconvenience they cause. I hate ThriftBooks and I will never use them again.
Disappointing Experience with ThriftBooks: Late Confirmation, Confusing Tracking, and Poor Customer Service
I gotta say, I'm not too thrilled with my experience with ThriftBooks. I mean, it's not the worst thing in the world, but it definitely ain't great. I put in my order on January 6th, and I didn't get any kind of confirmation email or notification that it had shipped. I was starting to get a little antsy, you know? Like, did they even get my order? Did they forget about me? But then, on January 9th, I tried to cancel my order, and they told me it had already shipped on January 8th. What the heck, man? I had no idea it had already shipped! And when I tried to explain that to the customer service rep, they just kept telling me they couldn't cancel it because it had already shipped. Like, I get it, but come on.
The tracking link they gave me doesn't really help either. It just says "shipment information received". What does that even mean? Is it on its way to me or not? I don't know, man. I'm just feeling a little frustrated with the whole thing.
I don't think I'll be buying from ThriftBooks again. I've had better experiences with other online used bookstores like abebooks and alibris. Maybe they're just not my cup of tea.
Inconsistent Book Conditions and Stickers: My Disappointing Experience with ThriftBooks
I recently made a purchase from ThriftBooks and ordered six books in one go. I was pleased to see that the books were available in different conditions, ranging from very good to acceptable. I received my order in a timely manner and was excited to see the books in person.
Upon inspection, I found that the book marked as "acceptable" was actually in the best condition out of all the books. It had no creases or discoloration whatsoever. However, one of the books marked as "good" had a major crease on the front cover. This was disappointing, especially since cover art is a significant aspect of graphic novels and comics. I believe this book should have been marked as "fair" or "acceptable" at best.
Another book that was marked as "very good" was in large print, which was not mentioned in the description. This is an important factor for readers, and I think it should have been stated clearly in the listing.
One thing that bothered me was that ThriftBooks puts their own sticker on all of the books, which cannot be removed without tearing the book itself. This makes all of the books less than "very good" in my opinion.
Although ThriftBooks offers credit rewards for purchases, I don't think it's worth it for the inconsistency and lack of consideration for the books and readers. I would only buy from them if I was desperate and couldn't find the book anywhere else. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience and wouldn't recommend ThriftBooks to others.
Frustrating experiences with ThriftBooks: Wrong books, slow shipping, and poor customer service
I've been a customer of ThriftBooks for a while now, but I have to say, I've had some pretty frustrating experiences with them. It seems like every time I place an order, there's some kind of issue with it. The biggest problem I've had is that they keep sending me the wrong books! It's not just once or twice, but multiple times. I've received books with the wrong title and author, and even books that were in terrible condition - pages stuck together with food, gross stuff falling out from between the pages, and pages that were stiff and damaged from liquid. It's really disappointing to receive a book that's in such bad shape, especially when you were expecting something different.
Another time, I ordered three books, and two of them were supposed to be hardcover, but they turned out to be arc paperbacks. When I contacted ThriftBooks to try to get the correct copies, they sent me more arc paperbacks instead of the hardcovers I had ordered. It's frustrating to have to keep going back and forth with customer service to try to get the right books.
It seems like this company or their employees are completely incapable of posting the correct books and then mailing them out. I can't imagine how much money they must be wasting by sending out the wrong books and then having to send refunds. It's really frustrating to have to deal with these kinds of issues every time I order from them.
On top of all this, their shipping is incredibly slow. It takes forever for my orders to arrive, and I'm always left wondering when they're going to show up. It's just one more thing that makes shopping with ThriftBooks a frustrating experience.
Overall, I've had enough of these issues, and I don't think I'll be shopping with ThriftBooks or any other sellers associated with them anymore. It's just not worth the hassle and frustration.
Thrift Books: Great Selection, Poor Customer Service
I've been a loyal customer of Thrift Books for almost a year and a half now, and I must say, I've purchased a whopping 378 books from them! Their website is easy to navigate, and they have an impressive collection of books that I can't seem to find anywhere else. However, I must admit that their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
Recently, I received an email stating that my account had been deactivated. I was taken aback and confused as to why this had happened. After some digging, I found out that it was because I had rejected too many books due to quality issues. Now, let me be clear, I don't reject books for no reason. The majority of my complaints are that they send me library books that are not advertised as such, or paperback books that are sold as hardbacks. It's frustrating because they could easily check if a book is a library book or not, or if it's a hardback or paperback, before sending it out.
I don't understand why they would send me a book that I didn't order, and then get upset when I complain about it. It's like they don't care about their customers at all. It reminds me of those dinosaurs that went extinct because they didn't adapt to changing environments. If Thrift Books doesn't start listening to their customers and fixing their mistakes, they might just go the way of the dinosaurs.
If you're thinking of buying from Thrift Books, be aware that you might have to accept whatever they send you. If you complain about more than 20% of your purchases, they might just deactivate your account. It's a shame that they don't seem to care about their customers' satisfaction. I haven't received a single apology or assurance that they're working on fixing the problem. It's just a "my way or the highway" attitude, which is disappointing.
In conclusion, Thrift Books has a great selection of books, but their customer service needs some serious improvement. If they don't start listening to their customers and fixing their mistakes, they might just lose a lot of business.
Terrible Experience with ThriftBooks: Inaccurate Prices, Poor Quality, and Unhelpful Customer Service
Terrible experience with ThriftBooks! The prices on the items in my cart changed drastically after just a few hours. It was frustrating to see the prices go up so much. Also, the items I received were not as described on the website. I was disappointed with the quality of the books I received. When I contacted customer service, they were not helpful at all. They suggested that I return the item for a full refund, even though I live overseas and the shipping cost would be too high. It was ridiculous to even suggest that!
When I asked for a refund for a book that was not as described, they only offered me 15% of the purchase price. This is unacceptable! Most sellers would take full responsibility and offer a full refund without any hassle. It's frustrating to have to deal with such poor customer service.
To make matters worse, the items I ordered arrived late. Even during the COVID situation, their delivery estimates were inaccurate and flawed. As a customer, I was expected to be understanding and supportive of them, but they didn't seem to care about my experience at all.
Overall, I was not impressed with ThriftBooks and would not recommend them to anyone. If you're looking for a better option, I suggest going with Powell's Books. Their customer service standards are much better, and the conditions of their books are usually better than what they're listed as.
Disappointing Quality Control: My Experience with ThriftBooks
I have been using ThriftBooks for a while now and at first, everything was going great. However, I have noticed a significant decline in the quality of the items I have received lately. It all started with a copy of The Hobbit that I ordered in "very good" condition. When it arrived, I was shocked to see that the outside was stained and it looked like someone had used it as a bathroom copy. To make matters worse, two pages were ripping out where the spine had cracked.
I decided to give ThriftBooks another chance and ordered a different book. However, when it arrived, it was not the book I had ordered. I had to go through the hassle of getting a refund and reordering the book. When the book finally arrived, I was disappointed to find that an entire section of pages fell out when I flipped through it. The sticker on the cover was also cheaper than what I had paid for the book, and the dust jacket was torn and dirty.
I am currently waiting for the replacement for my replacement to arrive, but I have already made up my mind that I will never order from ThriftBooks again. It seems like they have very little quality control and are not making sure that their sellers adhere to a book grading system. The condition descriptions are very general and vague, and they do not often match up with the actual product.
Overall, I am very disappointed with my recent experiences with ThriftBooks. I hope that they can improve their quality control and make sure that their sellers are accurately grading their products. Until then, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Disappointing Experience with Thriftbooks.com: Unreliable Shipping and Poor Quality Books
I've been using Thriftbooks.com for a long time now, and I used to tell everyone about it. I was even thinking about buying gift cards for my book-loving friends and family for Christmas this year. I really loved this site. But then, I ordered some books that took forever to arrive. I had to complain before they finally showed up after three weeks. They sent me a replacement order, but I only got two out of the four books, and one of them was in terrible condition. I thought it was just a one-time thing, so I ordered some more books. But I still haven't received them, and when I check the tracking, it just says "Moving within the USPS System." I have no idea where they are or when I'll get them, or if I'll get them at all.
I used to think this was the best site ever, but now I'm not so sure. I'm not going to buy gift cards for anyone, and I'm not going to tell people how great they are anymore, because they're not. Maybe they changed something about their shipping, or maybe they're just trying to make more money. Either way, it's time for me to move on. It's like a bad relationship that I need to end. It's too bad, because I really did like them.
Disappointing Experience with Thriftbooks Customer Service and Shipping
I was really excited to receive my books from Thriftbooks, but unfortunately, I had a bit of a frustrating experience. I was supposed to receive two out of the three books I ordered on Monday, March 7th, 2022, but they never arrived. I decided to call USPS to see if they had any information about the books, but they told me that they never received them from OSM, the shipper used by Thriftbooks. So, I called Thriftbooks to see if they could help me out.
Unfortunately, the customer service agent I spoke with was not very helpful. Even though I explained that the tracking information said the books were supposed to arrive by March 7th and they hadn't, the agent told me that the books still had more time to arrive and that the time limit hadn't expired yet. I was really frustrated because no one seemed to know where the books were, but the agent didn't seem to think it was a big deal.
To make matters worse, Thriftbooks sent me a survey asking for my review of the call. I gave them the worst review possible, but their system didn't seem to like that. They sent me the same survey eight times in a row, as if they expected me to change my mind and give them a better review. Needless to say, my opinion of their customer service didn't change. It was very unhelpful.
Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with Thriftbooks. I understand that things can go wrong with shipping, but I was hoping for a bit more empathy and understanding from their customer service team. I'm not sure if I'll order from them again in the future, but I'll definitely be more cautious.
Disappointing Experience with ThriftBooks.com: Poor Communication and Incomplete Refund
I recently made a purchase on ThriftBooks.com and unfortunately, my order seemed to have gotten lost in transit. I was really looking forward to receiving my three books, so I reached out to their customer service team to see if they could resend my order. I wasn't interested in a refund, I just wanted my books.
After contacting them, they informed me that none of the books were in stock anymore and that I would receive a full refund. I was happy to hear this, but when I received my refund, I noticed that they had only refunded me $10.15 instead of the full $18.11 that I had paid. While it was only $8, I was still curious as to why this had happened, so I reached out to them again.
Their response was that they had only refunded me for the item that I didn't receive. However, I had purchased all three books as one order and had received only one tracking number. The package never reached me, so I was confused as to why they thought I had received the other two books and was only missing one. I reached out to them again, explaining that their reasoning didn't make sense since I hadn't received any of my books.
They then informed me that they would issue another refund for the rest of the items. However, when I received the refund, it was only for $3.98, which was the price of one of the books I was missing. They had promised me a full refund, so I was disappointed to only receive $14 back in total.
Overall, my experience with ThriftBooks.com was not great. While I appreciate their efforts to refund me for the items I didn't receive, their communication and follow-through left something to be desired. I hope that they can improve their customer service in the future.
Charged more then was stated on the web site
Found two books for about $4 each was the price. I ended up getting charged $16. With no invoice so I couldn't even figure out how they arrived at that figure. I thought I was spending about $9? Doubt I'll ever order from them again. John Hathaway Saint Paul, Minnesota
Desired outcome: None just want other people to be careful with them.

I have made two orders to thriftbooks and both orders advertised a book plus a good quality CD.
Both orders had no CD with it, just the book. They were both language books so it was very important to have the CD.
On one order, customer service responded by asking me a question: what do you think should be done? They were supposed just give me the refund. They eventually did but it taught me never to order books with CDs from them again : they don't seem to check things before an order.
