unethical behaviour - bad service - ben guron airport - thrifty israel car hire
Booked a vehicle on line through rentalcars.com via the El Al website . My decision was to book an automatic vehicle at the best available price. On that date being 08 January 2018 the best vehicle was through Thrifty a Nissan Micra or similar reservation No [protected], Driver Mr Julian Michaels collection Ben Guron 21 January to 28 January 2018. At the same time as booking through Thirfty we were asked on line should we require additional insurance for the hire and we agreed and paid on line for the vehicle and the additional insurance.
On arrival and at collection of vehicle at Ben Guron I was firstly told that the insurance was not from Thrifty and they could not claim on the insurance should something go wrong and I was for forced by an extremely rude car rental agent to take out additional cover through Thrifty at an additional major cost.
When collecting the vehicle I was going to be given an extremely battered up nissan micra full of dents etc etc. and complained bitterly and wanted to cancel the rental. Was then given another vehicle which is hardly better a Kia Picante also with many dents etc etc.
I find this behaviour totally unethical and service extremely bad for thrifty in Israel and attach all my documentation in support of this complaint.
I do feel that it was highly unnecessary to have charge me the additional insurance from Thrifty at over US Rand R4 000.00 as I had paid for an additional insurance to cover all risks at a cost of SA R1 623, 72.
I will never again use Thrifty as a preffered rental company and never recommend them as a car rental agent to anybody.
I feel that I should at least be refunded for the additional insurance I was forced to take out at the Car Rental Agent Thrifty at Ben Guron in Tel aviv, Israel.

Rented Minivan in Atlanta 1/13/18-1/15/18 from noon-noon for $41 p/day plus fees, estimate $117 Total, Stuck in Atlanta traffic Monday returning vehicle between 1-1:30pm later. Upon returning charge changed for daily rental to $90 p/day plus hourly overate making total charge $285. I agree I should be paying an hourly late fee but double my daily rate + seems excessive. Not a customer friendly company. Hope this warning helps others and i hope to never rent from Thrifty again.
thrifty refused to reimburse my costs when I returned my car rental one week early
I reserved a car rental through Travelocity for two weeks [Dec 17/17 to Jan 1/18] renting from the Palm Springs airport (Itinerary # [protected]). Due to illness, I had to leave Palm Springs early and returned my car on December 24/17 with one week remaining on the rental which I couldn't use as I had to leave to get medical care. I was told by several staff at the car rental desk that I would be reimbursed for the one week and that I should call for the refund once I had returned. Now that I am at home and requesting the refund, the accounting department at Thrifty's is refusing any refund. I also called the 1-800 Thrifty phone number to advise that I was returning the car early and that agent also advised me that I was entitled to a refund. Well apparently the accounting department at Thrifty's doesn't honour what their staff advise their customers. I would like a refund for the one week which I paid for and couldn't use.

Dear Sir or Madam
Can you help me please about the actual cost of my vehicle hire from you .
I booked a car on line and paid thrify 435 dollars in advance leaving 145 dollars to pay at the desk . ( Confirmed by email )
So the total should have been around 580 dollars .
Upon collecting the car I was told the actual bill with insurance that I needed etc would be 1600 dollars.
So I ended up paying approx 1500 dollars total. So paid 900 dollars for the insurance etc
I feel totally misled and would appreciate if you could confirm what my final bill should be .
I have paid approx
Rental Advance : 435
Loss dam waver : 539
L/S. : 246
Pre rd ser : 125
Con fee rec. : 151
GF. : 10

charged unnecessary cleaning fees
My life partner and I rented a vehicle for vacation out West. We went to S Dakota and Wyoming. We are both smokers and knew the penalty for smoking in the vehicle was a $300 cleaning fee. So we DID NOT smoke in the vehicle at any time! When I returned the vehicle, they said the dirt from our vacation was ashes, and that they would charge us a $150 fee. Which I vehemently opposed and denied any smoking in the vehicle! They said we did and all the "ashes" confirmed it. When I got the bill they charged me $200 and now will not do anything to hear me or refund any monies. I have filed a complaint with the Fair Trade Committee and am stopping credit card payment. I brought back rocks from Crazy Horse, which were in the vehicle and could be misconstrued as ashes, I explained that to them. They insisted it was from smoking. I told them I had one more day on the rental, would take it back, vacuum it out spray it with Febreze and return it and they told me they would still charge me the cleaning fee because it would smell bad from the Febreze. I have called the manager, , I have posted on their Facebook page (which they would not print) They did message me and told me no credit would be granted.
They just did this to me as well. I quiet smoking my bf smokes. We use our vaps! When we got to the car rental return they tired to charge me for smoking even tho they were smelling my bf smoke a cig outside the car ! I said no I don’t smoke I smoke a vap. They said that’s not allowed. I smoke a JUUL that has the least amount of vapor smoke ! The men said it would be $50 and I ran to my plane cause I was going to be late ! I just got a bill of 600! The woman at the desk charged me for insurance after I denied it and the cleaning fee was $300! The pre paid gas they told me was the cheaper option is also $50 for a tank of gas on a small Kia!

charged $1000 more than agreed
When booking the car through my airline, I indicated that i did not want the CDW insurance (as that is our company policy. When collecting the car the guy asked if I wanted this insurance and not only did I say no, but I politely added that my employers policy is that we never accept CDW cover. Immediately after this question he asked that I pick up the pen and sign the agreement so I could take the keys. Unfortunately it would appear that he succeeded in duping me. In other words I signed it but did not notice that the fine text says I was accepting CDW, even though he had just asked me and I said I didn't want it. Only a week later when handing back the car i realised that they had charged me $1000 more than I was expecting. When I phoned they said that this was my fault as I'd signed the agreement. So it did not matter that the representative had done the opposite of what I'd asked for. Their take on it was basically that yes, we shouldn't have put that on there, but you signed it so that means we got away with it and that money is ours now. They seemed so rehearsed in their answer that it was like they say it a thousand times a day. Its so odd that after many hundreds of car rental with their competitors I never had someone put in front of me an agreement which is not what we just discussed. But after m first renal with Thrifty I'm $1000 down! I guess to them this is a win, but they don't realise they have lost a customer for life. And that this customer will talk about this to colleagues for ever. p.s. The Thrifty customer service person that I spoke to on the phone was cold as ice, told me not to interrupt her, but then never let me complete a sentence. She showed an attitude that was basically saying it does not matter that we ripped you off and that because they'd got away with slipping on the CDW to the agreement and I never noticed that they could do it and that was that. Never ever again would I use this company.
charge fees for tolls in florida
I booked thru Expedia a rental in West Palm Beach from Thrifty from August 16 to August 31st 2017 and I used the car to go to Sawgrass Mills using the expressay which has tolls ( each one cost 1.32 $) for a total of 6.28. Since the Expressway has no more booths the costs are automatically billed to Thrifty and then to the Customer... I received today a bill for $ 81.28 which is rip off by Thrifty Rental Fine.com They charge customers 75 $ plus of the fees due which is amazing as administrative fees. I think Expedia should warn their customers about those practices which are dishonest... I never had in the past such problems with Avis, Hertz, Entreprises who are billing the right toll amount to my bill...

rental car damage
I rented a shortage (kia) in aruba, I took possession of the car after the attendant and I went around inspecting the car. both him and I acknowledge the small damage on the bumper, he mark it on his check list. when I return the car the counter person charged me $150.00 for that damage. I told them it was there already and told them to check with the attendant servicing me. they said he denies it, asked to see the check sheet, it was not there. I told them I saw him mark it on his check sheet. now I am thinking, this is an on going thing. I am upset its not the money its the principle or maybe its intentional. so renters beware. rental date 9/3/17 to 9/10/2017 CLIENT NO. 49165
they don't even know where is their own car!!!
Me and my husband rented a car one week ago (sep 1) and I dropped my smartphone onto the floor of the passenger side as soon as I returned the car (sep 4). The next day I registered the lost items on their lost and return website but nothing happened so far.
The company is still saying they don't know where the car is exactly and all I have to do is wait. I'm waiting for almost a week. How come they don't know where it is if they already have all the data on their system, such as the rental number and car plate? I can't accept this.
The local manager spoke kindly on the phone, but something must be done to help me because I have very important work stuff on it. This is very serious. I can't wait anymore. They only say "I'm sorry.
This is up to the local team at this point and they're still working on it." Please, Thrifty. Not finding your own car is unacceptable.
Do this simple favor for me.I'd be very grateful.
car rental
On Saturday, August 6, 2017, at approximately 7:45 p.m., I arrived at the Thrifty car rental counter to rent a full-size vehicle, location, Houston Hobby, 8620 Panair St, Houston, TX 77061. (Approximately one week before my arrival, I made car rental reservations through Carrentals.com.) The sales agent communicated to provide a return airline ticket and major credit card at the time of rental. I communicated that it was a local rental, therefore, I did not have a return airline ticket. The agent communicated it was their policy and that he could not rent the reserved vehicle. I requested to speak with a manager. The manager, Richard, came to the counter and communicated the same information. I asked Richard to speak to his manager, then Richard said: "He was not going to give me his manager's name and phone number" then walked away from the counter. Richard exhibited disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional behavior. I called the Thrifty car rental customer service line to file a verbal complaint. However, this measure was thwarted since I never spoke with anyone who took my complaint. Instead, I was placed on continuous holds and journeyed multiple transfers. My concern, if managers are not held accountable for their actions then this sends a negative message that it is okay to treat their potential customers in this manner. Resulting in company loss, dissatisfied customer, and branding damaged. Feedback, customer service training, a manager is not the final word, there should be some hierarchical accountability for managers.
manager's attitude/ rude
I booked the car, Ford Explore or equivalent SUV & Crossover (7 passengers and 4 large luggage). The day that I pick up the car, the counter clerk, Renata Les2c2uk (or Les2c2vk) told me that she has the car with a crack between the windshield (she offered a free navigation but I do not need it because I have one with me) if I do not want this car, she still has another car available. The car was a Volvo, XC90 with a crack more than 10 inches long and it was not the one that booked. I told her this car will not fit my luggages and 6 passengers. The clerk, Renata Les2c2uk went inside and came out with her manager, Sara Danielsdottiv. The manager told me that this is the car that I booked. I said, NO, that is not the car that I booked/ paid for because I have two Volvo XC90 at home (USA) and I know how big the trunk is. The manger refused to give me right car the I booked and said, “if you do not want it, you can go somewhere else to get the car.” She is rude. Everybody knows that it is not easy to rent the car at the last minute, especially in Europe. I have no choice. When the manager was helping the clerk to process my renting paperwork and it seemed a problem, so my husband asked the manager, can you guys switch to another computer? The manager looked up and gave my husband a dirty look/ mean look. Oh Lord! She is really rude and does not fit in this title, manager. The counter clerk, Renata Les2c2uk apologized to me and said, she wants to give me another car but her manager said NO, therefore, nothing that she can do. I am filing this complaint about the manager and I am unsatisfied with the car. As I said, Volvo was not the car that I booked/ paid. I have to low the third row to fit my luggages. The second row only fit three passengers so my son had to sit on the floor, and we all have to lift up our feet to give him a room (it took 55minutes from the airport to our destination).
As Thrifty said, “Our customers' satisfaction is important to us”. I am wonder how Thrifty handles this situation.

car rental, no return of deposit
Around July 2nd or 3rd I prepaid for a rental in Detroit, Mi
When I got there on July 5th, they refused me a car, because I didn't have a major credit card and my credit score was too low to use my debit card.
When I got back home on the 10th, I called them about a refund, and the agent said he would put in a request for it.
That's been over 2 weeks ago and they still haven't returned my $200.
credit hold authorizations
July 6th 2017. Thrifty rental Record #[protected]. Rental Location Humphrey Terminal. Car rented by myself Jack Jensen. Girl at customer counter charged and put two large credit hold authorizations on my Visa debit card. One in the amount of $562.00 and one for $528.00. Total amount of hold should have been $258.40 plus a 15% deposit of $38.76 for a total of $297.16. The $1, 090.00 credit hold on my Visa left me without funds for my Wedding trip in Minneapolis for 5 days. I barely had money for the Hotel room and almost no money for my stay. Hold was released on Tuesday July 11th. I also had 4 overdraft charges of $36.00 for a total of $144.00. I would like the amount of my rental of $258.40 refunded to me for the hardship I encountered during my stay.
being billed for extra insurance that I didn't request or wasn't ask if I wanted it.
I booked my rental car through Holiday cars.com and pre paid in full.
When I arrived to pick up my rental I said it's all been pre paid nothing more to pay. The only extra thing that was mentioned to me from the sales person at the counter was bring it back empty with fuel as it's cheaper when you do this. This was the only extra thing I agreed to which I shouldn't have. As it wasn't cheaper at all another false statement from the counter sales person as it cost me an extra $20 to do this than if I filled it up myself as I had to fill it up while travelling and it took 15 gallons and at Los Angeles at the time fuel was only $3/gal.
I noticed on my bank statement that my credit card had been charged for extra money that I didn't agree to. When I rang customer enquiries they informed me it was for extra personal insurance, roadside assist and person effects. Which I do not need as I have my own travel insurance, I have my own AAA membership and I do not carry anything of value with me to be covered on my travels we are frequent travellers to the USA and we know what insurances we need this is why I pre paid for my rental if I need this extra insurance we would have added it with the pre payment. As it was all pre paid to make it quicker to get through at the time of picking up the rental as we have just travelled 13hours. I'm sure that the sales person on the counter pray on the weary traveller either on purpose as you just want to get out of there or made a mistake with the paperwork that I was signing as all I was aware of that I was signing for was to return the car empty with fuel. And you can check the video frottage at the counter and there is no mention of him selling extra insurance that I didn't need or me asking for extra insurance that I didn't need. I feel that I have been taken advantage off as we asked what I was signing and he said just for returning the rental empty with fuel. We have never had this happen to us with any rental company of the past several years. We would love for Trifty Car Rental to see the error which has occurred and refund my credit card of the extra charges for insurances that I didn't need.
I'm requesting a refund.
This is exactly the same as hat happened to me - at the same location.
Have you had a response - I'm in the UK and cant get hold of anyone by phone so have submitted anemail but not even sure if it the the correct email address
computer damage caused by water leak in car fort lauderdale
I rented a Toyota Camry (FL plate #GWA I09) from the Fort Lauderdale airport from 5/31 to 6/8. During that week, rain water puddled into the floor of the back seat area of the car due to a defect with the car. My computer fell into the puddle and was destroyed. I am seeking reimbursement for the replacement value of the computer of $500.
What information do you need?

unethical behaviour
I told the VERY unhappy to be alive lady that two weeks before that I rented a Thrifty and I got the prepaid tolls. I asked her if I needed it, she said how would I know I just moved here. Then she said I would get it or your screwed. She knew I wanted it, it was NEVER a question. She was much more concerned about threatening me about extra insurance, and gas. I explained that because I rent cars all the time I have extra insurance on my regular insurance. Course that lead to that doesn’t cover everything. Then she said if I didn’t bring back my receipt proving I had gotten gas within the last 10 miles I was again screwed (I think she could have used a much better choice of words.) I didn’t get a final receipt because there was no one there when we returned the car. Because I don't have a final receipt they aren't honoring where I got the extra tolls. Which it was on my original receipt. Several people told me from there they wouldn't use Thrifty, what does that tell you! Don't use Thrifty! Like the agent said you will get screwed!
cargo indebido

extremely long lines, causing me to lose a day of hotel rental and missed my, flight rude service agent
Reserved a mid sized SUV for 5/19/2027. Pick up time was 10 pm. We were traveling from Baltimore to Atlanta. Our flight was delayed. So I called Thrify, to make sure they would still have the vehicle we had reserved. The agent said yes, and it will be there for 6 hours past pick up time, before they would cancel. We got to the Atlanta Thrify counter around 11:15 pm. There were about 50-75 customers in line. There were 2 agents for Thrifty and 1 agent behind an adjacent counter, for Dollar Car Rental. We were wondering why there wasn't two lines for the different Agencies? Then we noticed the combined names of the 2 Agencies on their uniforms. Soon thereafter we had to be sent down to the garage, because the terminal was closing. Only to be greeted by the most loud and rude agent that told us whoever had reserved mid sized SUV, there aren't any more. She would offer a full size car. And if that wasn't good enough, we can rent elsewhere. We didn't get a vehicle until 2:10 am on 5/20/2017. We lost a day at our hotel. And on the return, same problem with long lines. We ended up missing our flight, sleeping in the terminal for 9 hours, as to not miss the rescheduled flight, and loss a day's pay. I am expecting to be addressed in a timely manner. I expect to be compensated for all the hardships I endured as a direct result of POOR MANAGEMENT, or I will be forced to seek legal action.
