My name is Elizabeth Naciri.
The spring of 2020, I was in the market for a new lawn mower. I own a Toro leaf blower and have been very happy with it for several years. I went to my local Woodstock Mower and Chainsaw store to ask about Toro lawn mowers. I was sold a Toro model# 21320 [protected] 21" Recycler/Rear Bagging Lawn Mower for $269. I was given very little instruction.
While I went home and read the manual, I did not pay much attention to 'storing" the equipment for the winter. Throughout that spring and summer, the mower worked great for me. The spring of 2021, I broke my arm and was unable to mow my own lawn for six months, so I hired a service that year. In March of 2022, I pulled out my trusty Toro only to find out it could not be started. I took it back to the Woodstock Mower store and there the man schooled me on emptying the gas at the end of the season and using fresh gas each time. My bad! I paid $102 to have the shop give it a seasonal tune-up.
This past summer (2023), I pulled out my well-maintained Toro mower ready to add fresh oil and new gas. After making certain everything was in order, I pulled the rope and nothing happened. Seeing me in distress, my neighbor man came over for the rescue. He could not get it started either. I explained to him my story (above) and he suggested writing to you (The Toro Manufacturer) to ask if there was anything you could do for me.
I want to mow my own lawn next spring and summer with a Toro Mower that will start every year. Do you have any suggestions for me? Is there anything you can do besides tell me to go buy another new mower and be out another $400?
Claimed loss: $371
Desired outcome: I want a better lawn mower that will start with proper care
