I rented a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. When I started driving, I realized that there was some sort of tint on the rear window which made it very difficult to see cars directly behind in the rearview mirror. Wearing sunglasses made it worse. I immediately reported this to the host who was unhelpful. She said that's the way the car is. No offer to help in any way. To me that's a safety issue that should have been addressed by the host and/or Turo. If I were in Turo's shoes I would not allow a host like Chinara to rent a car which has safety issues. A top-notch host would never do that.
At the end of the rental, I returned the car a bit late, about which I had notified Turo and the host, and it had been approved. I then saw that my credit card was charged $78.69 for the extra couple of hours. That's more than the rental charge for this car for an entire day. That seemed unfair and excessive. When I tried to get Turo and/or the host to provide a refund, since the car wasn't really very late, I just got the runaround. Very poor business practice not to at least try to satisfy a good customer.
Recommendation: Avoid Turo host Chinara Seyidova
Your experience with Turo and the unhelpful host regarding the rear window tint issue and the excessive late return charge is concerning. It's disappointing that your safety concerns were not addressed and that the charges for a slight delay were so high. It would be beneficial to escalate your complaint to Turo's higher-level customer service or their corporate office, providing all the details of your rental and the interactions with the host. Highlighting your safety concerns and the unfair late fee might prompt a more satisfactory resolution.
