Uftring Chevrolet Business Committed to Provide: Labor to install four spark plugs that I provided.
Nature of Dispute: I drove into their shop and the service advisor plugged in their diagnostic tool into the port under my dash and it showed no misfire codes. The car was running fine at that time with no fluids leaking under the car. I signed the ticket to authorize them to install the four spark plugs. I waited for my car and the service rep John Smith came out and told me that it was not good news and that I would need a new head installed on the car. He said they found coolant had leaked into the number four spark plug well. He also said that they could smell the liquid wrench that was sprayed on the spark plugs to help loosen the threads to remove them. The spark plug manufacturer stress not to change plugs on a hot engine because it can strip out the threads and cause damage to the aluminum head. My thought was that the spray dissolved the seals but that was not the case. It took about one week to get the car repaired and I paid the full amount of the invoice. I then contacted Jane Doe the assistant service advisor and Joe Knapp general manager of the store and talked to them both about the matter. Jane sent the head into a machine shop to be pressure tested and the dealer picked up that cost. The machine shop said that the head was cracked and that it was a heat related crack. Jane said that they really don't know what happened. She said that they were not responsible for the damage. I have had no response from Joe Knapp. If the head was cracked when I pulled in there would have been a misfire code and also coolant leaking or smoke coming out the tailpipe. I have the old plugs and there is no sign of coolant on the electrodes. The oil in the car is not contaminated with coolant, all signs of a cracked head.
I have been dealing with my vehicle having a lack of power that's intermittent
I have been dealing with my vehicle having a lack of power that's intermittent. I purchased an extended warranty, 6 months into driving this intermittent power loss along with engine bogging down. They said that since there's no engine light on, I should keep driving like it is because there's no way to figure it out with the engine light on. However, with many visits and deductibles of hundreds of dollars taken, the issue was not fixed but other repairs were pointed out, which led to my hundred-dollar deductible. The car became dangerously difficult to drive, so I took it in again before it prolonged my extended warranty. They put a MAF sensor on that wasn't needed. I called and they said to come up there for a refund. I stated that I'm a flex officer working all shifts, so it would be very hard for me to do so. I was reassured that I was in their system and as long as the vehicle was still experiencing the same symptoms (which I had described for months into over a year), they would give a refund. However, that wasn't the case. They stated it's been too long. So, I let the vehicle sit to prevent any accidents and further damage. My dealer called me 6-9 months later for a follow-up. I explained my situation again to him (not the first time explaining my situation to him as well, Steve ***) and followed up with him, keeping him in the loop via voicemails prior to each event. He said he would make a call to the service department and get back to me. Once that was successful, he told me to drop my vehicle off at the service department and they would look into it. However, they misdiagnosed the vehicle again and charged me for diagnostic services. I took it back a total of 3 times with no avail for fixing. I was told to send a video of the vehicle malfunctioning while driving, which I did. I waited patiently for a little over a week and received no response back, even after attempting to leave a voicemail for a follow-up on what was going on.
