United States Census Bureau Was a census taker the important word is was.

I was a census taker in Henry County VA. I had many issues and will most likely never do this job again. I noticed that I was not given all the proper info about how dangerous the job could be first of all. I also noticed that the field supervisors and staff seemed to be unable and or unwilling to deal with some of the issues that came up while I was in the field. I had many issues and quit after a very unfriendly man ran me off his property he had a gun and was willing to use it but thankfully he gave me a chance to beat it. I also was sent to a drug-infested area and that was the last straw so I quit. I am sure there must be other ways to get people counted. I also was pressured I feel to get folk's counted no matter what. I was sent over and over again to people's homes who clearly didn't want to be bothered. Which that made me none too popular with them. After like the 2nd or 3rd No we should just let them be I think. Not letting them be can put you in danger. I also have seen that several areas in my town are not fit for a dog to live in let alone the people so why should they fill out a census to live like animals? I think some maybe don't see how the census is helping them. Also if you having issues paying the bills and keeping your family feed the census isn't high on your list of things to do. This is supposed to be one of the greatest Country's in the world and we can't/don't want to do better than this? I hope these issues will be addressed and soon thanks.

United States Census Bureau Census worker who came to our house

The Census worker you sent to our home was straight up crazy. She didn't ring the doorbell. I work from home and have a home office. My daughter was doing school work on the porch. I came upstairs to see the census worker interrogating my 8 year old daughter. My daughter was scared. She told the lady she isn't to talk to strangers. The lady kept trying to lure her to the sidewalk as we have a dog chained in front. My daughter said she didn't want to come over there as she didn't want to get covid or get close. The worker was not wearing a mask. She asked my daughter her age. Grace told her she was 8 and isn't supposed to be talking to strangers. As I caught the tail end of her conversation, I asked her why she's asking an 8 year old girl, a minor these questions. She didn't have a good answer. I told her she was acting like a complete creep. Why do you think its okay for your employees to ask minor questions without a legal guardian or parent there. This lady should be fired! you don't do that. I told her to get off my property and not to come back. She made no attempt to knock on my door or ring my doorbell. My dog wasn't chained close to the doorbell and she was a safe distance. This was Extremely creepy...you need to look into her. We live at 115 N. Vine ave, Lacona IA 50139. The lady wouldnt Identify herself either, just said she was with the census.

United States Census Bureau US census worker in 29789 zip code

I filed our census online back in January or February. 3 census workers have shown up on our property! One trespassed and walked around a closed gate. Today the one that showed up didnt have a mask on nor did she practice social distancing. Please stop sending people up here. If u need something else send it in the mail. We will not give out information to people we do not know. As I tried to call today as well and was given the Atlanta number which that gentleman was rude gave me 2 other numbers to call which didn't help! So I called main number again to only be hung up on. You think I want to help u all when your people are rude and don't follow the social distancing guide lines!

United States Census Bureau Harassing apartment managers to provide tenant information

I am an apartment complex manager in Columbia SC. A Census worker approached our office on 3 separate occasions demanding a list of tenant info for the apartments. When we denied being able to give him that list he threatened to have us sued by the bureau. I was very disgusted by the way he approached us. the level of unprofessionalism was very clear.

This is happening here at my apartment complex in Virginia Beach, as well. I won't provide them with information on the residents that they are not able to reach so they are making threats, harassing phone calls, etc. At this moment I have a census worker who says he is not leaving my parking lot, even if it takes all day.

United States Census Bureau Excessive requests for interviews

I have answered the census questions twice and 5 times I have had to tell a census worker that I have already answered the questions. I moved may 1st. So I answered the questions for my household at my previous address. I do not know anything about who was/could have been living at my current address prior to may 1st. I understand that I may have to explain that to a census worker. However 5 times is enough.

I lived at 635 arbor station lane #64 tallahassee, florida 32312. On may 1st I moved to 631 arbor station lane #46 tallahassee, florida 32312. I do not know who was living in my current apartment prior to may 1st. Stop bothering me.

United States Census Bureau Census worker w/o a mask trespass into my home

at exactly 10:36 am( I have video of the incident as proof and photo of his truck with Census Worker plaque and his trucks license plate) on 7 Sep 2020, this census worker comes to my front porch, rings the doorbell, and after about 6 seconds, OPENS MY FRONT DOOR and yells HELLO, HELLO. I can see him from the toilet room I am in.
Not only does he not leave the "census I was here you need to do census sheet, he was completely w/o a mask.

This person trespassed by opening my front door-and is lucky my wife took our two dogs to the dog park as sure as he is there on video-my dogs would have ripped him a new [censored] for entering my home and me not giving my dogs our stand down command.

What this worker did was unconscionable.

I am going to contact Sheriffs dept, a lawyer and on Monday the census beareu for not only harassing me(I have completed the census on line), and get some action on this.

I cant believe that a Federal officer is ignoring the MASK order by Gov. Polis and the fed policy for Census workers.

I also see multiple complaints on this site that are relating similar events. If these workers TRESPASS by entering home w/o invitation and don't wear masks-how many people he is infecting with the Covid virus. Unbelievable!

I am due to have serious orthopedic surgery on the 17th and have been in quarantine to ensure that my covid test comes back negative. This person has now introduced serious risks by opening my front door stepping in and yelling HELLO HELLO-this is how the virus is transmitted in the air. If I do test positive ( I have a negative test from my bariatric surgery just before this incident-I am covid free), There will be serious consequences.

I want to know exactly what the agency is going to do about not only disciplining this agent, but what it plans to do to acquire equitable actions on my behalf, and what it will do to afford me incontrovertible action to satisfy the WILLFUL INTENDED TRESPASS (inside my house), the possible infection, the constant harassment, anguish, anxiety and fear now that my surgery may be halted, and I could be infected-or become a carrier. Again, had my dogs been present, he most likely would be in transit to a hospital with i injuries caused by my dogs for him having opened my front door and trespassing-he is so damn lucky . He should be removed from the agency for such flagrant violations of Gov polis mask order (he is seen w/o a mask in public and entering my home w/o a mask w/o invitation.
What say you?

United States Census Bureau Census worker complaint

Census. Worker knocked on my door for about Information on a neighbor that lives across the hall from me. The census person was very persistent, and I told him I should not be giving any information on this neighbor. Firstly, the neighbor he was asking about does not speak English, and I really don't know him since he is from Ethiopia. Second, why didn't the worker knock on his door instead of mine, and if the gentleman wasn't home the worker should come back sometime next week for any information he needed. This incident happened on Saturday September 5, 2020 at. 10:O0. My complaint is this procedure legal for a census worker to ask information about another neighbor?

United States Census Bureau How many times do I have to keep saying it's done.

I am writing this letter to find out why census interviewers keep coming to my house. As of September 4th, four census takers have been to my house. The first time they put a notice of the visit under my door. I contact the Census Bureau to find out what was going on. I noted to the agent that I had completed my questionnaire online using the Census ID number. After giving her my ID number, she put me on hold for a few minutes. When she returned, she said she couldn't find that ID number, so I did it again. And I did get a confirmation number.
A few days later, a census interviewer came to my house asking me to do the Census; I explained to him that I had already done it via phone and showed him the confirmation number. A week later, another interviewer came to my house looking for me to do the Census. I explained to her that I had already done it via phone. I asked her why census interviewers keep coming to my house? When I had told them that I had already done the Census. I noted to her that they need to focus on the people who haven't done their Census. A few days later, I found another Notice Of Visit under my door. Now, this is getting ridiculous; how many times do I have to keep saying I have completed my 2020 Census questionnaire. I understand that time is winding down, but please use it effectively.

United States Census Bureau Trespass & disturbing behavior

Hello,

My name is Heather and I live in Canton, Ohio 44706. Today at approximately 2:30 pm I was mowing the back yard of the duplex that I live at. The backyard is completely fenced in with a big wooden gate on the side of the house that was closed and latched. I live on one side of the duplex and my sister lives on the other. I had been mowing in the backyard for approximately 20 minutes when my sister comes over and says good thing I came out when I did, there was a tall older man in a blue shirt who was standing beside my backstairs staring at you while you were mowing. This alarmed both of us because she has a huge black lab/German Shepherd dog who is very territorial and who would've attacked this man on sight if she had let him outside when she came out (as she ordinarily would). The man told her he was a census taker and he'd "Knocked on the front door but no one answered, so he came in the back and was waiting for me to finish mowing", which we both don't believe for a minute because we have signs on the front porch saying "Beware the Dog", and anyone in their right mind wouldn't walk into someone's fenced-in backyard knowing there was a dangerous dog on the property. Next he says to my sister, "Oh, you must be the sister" or something to that effect, which is rather disturbing because unless he looked us up, he shouldn't know that. Even more disturbing is the fact that we had already turned in our census info months ago and he admitted he wasn't there for us, he was there for our neighbors and he just wanted to ask us questions about them, which is not our business or our responsibility, so if he isn't there to get us to do the census, why is he looking us up to know that she was my sister? I was very upset about this because I saw him in his older model gray Grand Jeep Cherokee at least 20 minutes before pulling up slowly across the street when I left the front yard to mow that backyard, so how long was he standing in our backyard staring at me? My sister and I went through our gate and saw him on the neighbor's porch across the street and I asked him several times for his name, his supervisors name and his badge number. I asked him why he was in my backyard staring at me while I was mowing and that he is not supposed to be going through a person's latched gate into their backyard and staring at them while them are mowing, that is very very dangerous when we have a guard dog and there's absolutely no reason for him to be back there. We filled out our census and he should've knocked on our front door. He said he did (which I don't believe for a minute) and then he went beside our house to our gate and because "It wasn't locked" he let himself in. I told him that this is not the best neighborhood, you don't know what kind of people live in this neighborhood, whether we have dogs or guns and that letting yourself into a latched gate is not allowed, there's no way that that is ok, especially when the people who live here fulfilled our obligation by filling out census and he admitted that he wasn't even there for us. He never did give me his name or any kind of badge number, he only gave me the name of his supervisor: Mary Sue and her number: [protected], which I didn't call because I'd rather fill out a form like this. I do have a picture of the man as well. His behavior is incredibly unprofessional, and I have to be honest, it is disturbing and made me feel like he was some kind of stalker or at the very least, out of control. He put himself into a situation that could have turned out badly, thank heavens my sister's dog was locked inside the house. I do NOT condone this disturbing behavior of standing there in a fenced-in yard where he has no right to be, staring at me like a creeper for who knows how long, to ask me about neighbors who probably didn't fill out their census that I don't know anything about. He needs to go to their house and stalk them and leave us alone. I did call the Canton Police Department and talked to them and they said he should not be going into our backyard like that. He only was allowed to knock on the front door and that's it. Please find this clueless man and send him back into training before he gets mauled by a dog or locked up for trespassing or worse. He is completely clueless. Thank you.

United States Census Bureau Field census personnel actions

Census takers are pushing forms through the weather stripping of the entrance door to the residence causing damages resulting in costs to repairs and lost air conditioning through gaps created. A door is not a mailbox.

If they wish to leave a form, then it needs to be placed in the mailbox and not cause damage to private property.

I need an address to send a SF-95 tort claim.

Information for where to send the SF-95 may be sent to me at:

That day I called and did the census a 3rd time over the phone! Now this morning... A male census worker was at my door! 3 x's and I am done! Do not send another person to my door to harass me again! I don't want to hear another word about the 2020 census! Please and thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

United States Census Bureau Donald Gurian, census worker

Mr. Gurain is harassing citizens and seeking information orally from citizens. He threatened a neighbor with prosecution if she did not give him information and said he'd return every two days until she did. Today, 8/27/20, he made so much racket and commotion at the next door neighbor's house that multiple neighbors came out to investigate. He was banging on the door, had opened the screen door and was jiggling the door knob on the main door. The police were called. The owner was called by a neighbor and she was afraid to come home if Mr. Gurian was still outside. Mr. Gurian told us that he intended to remain parked outside the house until the owner returned. Once the police arrived, Mr. Gurian was directed to leave and not to return. These actions are harassment and should not be tolerated. Mr. Gurian states that he resides in Ambler, pa. The incident took place in a residential neighborhood in Fort Washington, pa. The Upper Dublin Police Department Will have the police report of the 8/27/20 incident.

I had a gentleman ring more door bell tonight a 5 o'clock, dinner time. He want to ask me questions about my neighbors, at 1921 Marinette Way, Roseville, CA 95747.
I answered the door and he stated he was from the Census. He had a badge, paperwork and phone with him. After he ID himself I stated that I've already filled out the Census online. He then stated that it was for my neighbor that he couldn't reach. I called BS because they where there all weekend and they are home ever night after 5:30. Since when do you have your employees ask questions of a neighbor? He insisted that I answered his questions and that it would only take a few minutes! He wanted to know how many people lived there since April? He really didn't want to leave either. I closed my door came back to finish my cold dinner.

United States Census Bureau Census taker - at my home not providing id on first visit

on Wed, 8/19/20 around 7 pm I had a ring at my door bell it was a hispanic or jewish man with black hair, around 34-45 years old, mask not covering face properly, 170-190lbs, he was wearing glasses and some hat. There was no picture ID displaced only around his neck some white with no picture. I asked him what he wanted and he told me that I had not filed out my census so he was there to take it, I told him it is a pandemic and ID, he did not respond, then I asked him how did he get up into my bldg as it is a locked and gated area he again did not respond. I told him I was not giving him any information and to leave. He kept talking at me and was not listening when I told him to leave. I am a older woman but that has nothing to do with being respectful and with scams on line this I thought was one. I decided it would be in my interest to have him leave. He then was taking pics of my front door out front of my place I saw him using a camera through my key hole, yes I can see the whole hall. Then I saw no one so I opened up my door and he was standing in hall headed toward the elevators and was calling out he will be back and other things to me that I had to comply. I told my son when he got home about the odd person and he said he will answer the door next time. Then on Saturday, 8/22/20 at 4:30 pm this man came back only this time showed the proper picture ID to my son and asked him in a much nicer manner for some information my son did not like the way I had been treated or address disrespectfully by this individual so he told him to pound sand and leave. The man shouted out in the hallway I will be back and you will have to give me the information. My son closed the door on the man. So both my son and myself felt that is this is someone working for the census bureau that he is out of line and they might want to check into this as most people will be put off by his abrupt and rude mannerism when seeking answers if he is in fact working as a census taker. Today, 8/23/20, Sunday, I was out walking my dog and saw a census taker on the sidewalk which was my side of the street and older man and saw his ID as I walked past him, and then I crossed the street and took my dog on his walk, upon coming back to my place I noticed him out so I called out to him that he might want to speak with me as he can take my census information, it is hot out, so we met under a shaded area and he asked me a few questions about our census and then I asked him to report this other person who came to take census information and thanked him, went on my way and him on his way to continue his job of taking census information, his interaction with myself was professional and not threatening or did I feel that he was not doing anything that would not be in compliance with his work. I feel with all the on line scams about 2020 census takers that one has the right to ask for ID and the person who seeks this information from the public is given trainings on how to be interactive with the public and polite. Everyone and I mean everyone deserves courtesy. So I am hopeful that the first person who claimed to be a census bureau taker person is terminated for not providing ID and proper behavior to come to someone home. People who are older are not stupid or valueless and it is simply that that is a person who is older and deserves courtesy and respect during this interaction. So if you feel someone is not doing that report them and ask for someone else to contact and take your information. Note I sought out someone who I felt was with the agency and gave him my information on a very hot day and I was not on his list but he took my information so that it could be recorded. I again asked the man who took my actual information to please report this earlier man as he was not a very good representative for this agency. I do not know why he would be taking pics of my front door, I do not believe in taking pics of someone private entrance in this job nor is it acceptable.

No one should come to your door claiming to work for the 2020 Census Bureau with out showing proper ID, being respectful and not making threats, as they walk down the hall, and I understand that pics are not allowed to take of someone door entrance as the first so called census taker did.

United States Census Bureau US census worker

We live in Farmington, NM but we also have a cabin at El Vado Lake, NM. The cabins here are 99% summer homes and the owners received and answered their census from their home address. We have had three different census workers come into our little community most recent was today August 22, 2020 and they have all been told where the only full time resident lives and that the other cabins are summer homes and no one was there and that they don't live here full time. We feel that 1. this is a waste of tax payers money 2. waste of the workers time 3. trespassing on private land and 4. they are casing the different cabins to see what they can steal. There must be some way to know when a worker has already come by a place. If not there should be so that we are not subjected to such a violation of our rights. We come here for peace and quiet not to be harassed by a census workers.

Today as I am sitting on my back deck of my house and my
Kids and dog are playing in my yard, census worker comes walking past the front door and walks into my back yard where my dog is, dog proceeds to bark and I wonder what/who is here. She proceeds to walk towards my back deck and states she is here to take the census. I explain that I already filled it out online and she needs to leave my property because I have a dog and kids playing and she is on private property.

What happened to knocking on the door or ringing the door bell!?!?

United States Census Bureau Census worker is interested in neighborhood children.

The census worker dispatched to the areas near Oak Grove Elementary School in Aliso Viejo, California is trying to speak with our children as they play outside. This is suspicious and inappropriate. We have repeatedly asked him to leave but he keeps returning throughout the week and repeating the same behaviors. If you need a description of the worker to help you in removing him from our community, he appears to be of asian descent, has very long thin black hair, and shows up wearing sandals and shorts every time. This is his third visit and the second time I have caught him trying to interact with children.
