Apria Healthcare Group - CPAP machine

I received a new CPAP machine from Apria Healthcare on or around August 2017. I was with Humana Insurance. I was told I would be renting the machine for 10 months and then I would own it. Humana was billed for the rent and I paid since it was applied to my deductible. After paying the rent for 10 months there were no other charges. In November 2020 our insurance company changed to United Health Care. In December 2021, I noticed a claim to United Health Care from Apria for durable medical equipment (Breathing device) in the amount of $46.14. I contacted Apria and they stated the initial agreement with Humana was a "rent to loan" and that when I changed insurance companies they had the right to re-rent the machine to me again. This time they again stated it would be a rental and after the time period, I believe 9 months, I would own the machine. I stated that this was not right since I had already paid for the machine and had not been charged for several years and was told initially I owned it. They disagreed and said that they "let me have it" while I was still with Humana, but now that I was with UHC they had a new agreement and it started over. Apria stated that they still owned the machine. In summary, I've been forced to "re-rent" the same machine (now 3 years old) that I've always had simply because I changed insurance companies. I asked to see the original agreement with Humana and Apria refused again stating they didn't have it. In summary, feel I'm being double billed, the new insurance company is being billed and shouldn't be and I can't get access to my own medical records and the agreement with Apria. Please investigate.

Thanks, Steve Chargo

Desired outcome: Refund of second round of rental fees

A very Similar thing occurred with me. It took me 8 months to get it fixed, and during that time period. They sent my bill to collections. I am currently contesting that now. This company has wasted countless hours of my time.
