Jewel-Osco - Slip and Fall at Jewel in Oaklawn, IL

On Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at approximately 1240pm, I was walking down Aisle 11 looking for sandwich bags. As I entered the aisle, I was looking on the shelves and did not notice that there was a broken jar of cheese in the middle of the aisle. Suddenly, my right leg began to slip into the cheese, and as I was trying to stop the fall, my left knee abruptly...

Jewel-Osco - False accusations of theft

Date; 09/17/2023

Time: around 11 am to 1 pm

while shopping in Jewel Osco located at 9424 S Pulaski Rd, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. One of the store butchers approach me and claim that i was stealing, the female employee demanded to search my cooling bags and person, I refused her request and left my products to be purchased in the shopping cart, leaving the store traumatized. I was under the impression that security is supposed to accost me if they felt that i was stealing, and only after leaving the store. Or maybe call the police. I feel that the employee put herself in danger and if I were a criminal she could have been hurt.

Desired outcome: Whatever your organization feel is appropriate for the ordeal that I was put in.PS. For the safety of employees, someone should explain to them that they are not the police. Thank you sincerely. Ernest Powell, ernest.[protected]@sbcglobal.net

Jewel-Osco - Service

At the Jewel Osco located on 95th and Pulaski in Oak Lawn The store director is a man Marty Keening who is too old to be very entitled to his job where he tells who to stay home and who can’t stay home when not feeling well, have a funeral, or any other important date etc. On October 15 2022 at 3:25pm I called the store director on the phone to ask if I could stay home because I was not feeling very well when I was suffering from a cold and mere body fatigue to where I couldn’t show up and the store director replies to me and tells me as an employee to still report to work because “He needs me in the back”when I was very ill couldn’t even move a muscle but I bit the bullet angrily and showed up 2 hours later at 5:00pm,5:00 was the time I needed to clock in and start my 5 hour shift to go in the grocery department to straighten out the aisles as my job because literally my job at the time was move the products on the shelves up close under the price label In the grocery aisles expect liquor because I was not old enough to adjust liquor or in their words “face” liquor. The next week on Saturday October 22 2022 at 4pm a hour before I had to show up at 5 I wasn’t feeling well again suffering from a aggravated headache and body fatigue again! I called the store to get through to the store director Mr Marty I called to stay home and he told me to show up anyways I got extremely angry and this time I didn’t show up because I felt it was unfair of the store director to show up and suffer a painful illness while working because that right there I don’t get paid enough for that so I didn’t show up but the next day at 5pm I showed but my legs were in pain as a result of the ongoing sickness I had and I began my shift and went to the back to condition the aisles and a co worker in particular and the department manager followed up with me and asked if I was okay and I okay but still had pain in my legs and immediately after the two followed up with me the store director contacted the department manager via walkie talkie device and asked that I report upstairs to his office and so I did, I reported to his office with not a non problematic a attitude but with a calm demeanor and he goes on to fuss about how it important it is to show up to work despite a sickness or whatever your life situation is, Marty tells me when you working at jewel you’re working for the business’s needs but as an employee my health matters at the end of the day. Tell that to a terminally ill employee Mr Marty, Without your heart working and breathing system shutting down you have no employee to work for your poor little business and it’s needs. Nevertheless jewel is an overall stressful job to work at in terms of customer service and management.

Desired outcome: He could’ve done better if he would’ve simply let me stay home at least for one day.

Jewel-Osco - Service from store director

I’ve been doing business with this store location for some time and the management has really changed, they treat certain vendors what service the store piss poor! Those vendors I’ve become acquainted with because they do a great job both stocking and assisting jewels costumers as well as my self. However service had been a little off because of how nasty the store director treats vendors as well as jewels

Own staff, it is so bad the lady receiver is just as nasty as him. Upper management needs to check this store out on 95th and Pulaski in oak lawn, I can’t find certain items because they have the vendors working on a trailer and in a shed I asked for a product they said it must be on the trailer and couldn’t be reached

Desired outcome: Would like for the products to be accessible since there is a restriction in service and also management to treat the staff and vendors better not a plantation or slave ship

Jewel-Osco - Bag lady at jewels-osco

I’m a regular customer and it’s a racist profile with teenage/mid aged ladies. Not doing their job! Customer’s is always first don’t matter the color of there skin. We are equal and no discrimination on other race. As I approach the check out then She step away. The color of any other skin don’t make a difference it’s the way you treat people. Thy said love one another.I love this store my favorite place but you are hiring hatred in the store. Check out the bag ladies. Where’s the young men’s with carts or bagging? Please do better! It’s nice neighborhood and we don’t need to be messy!

Desired outcome: Please solve the issue!!

Jewel-Osco - The prices

My parents are retired and my mother called me, all the way down in Texas, almost about to cry, complaining about your food prices. Can you please inform me as to why she paid $3.38 for one tomato and A quart of milk costs $4.99! There is a PANDEMIC going on in America. This is ridiculous and Jewel's CEO and CFO should be ashamed of themselves. I couldn't believe my ears! How do you all expect people to feed their families with these prices. It is just as sick and disgusting as the COVID-19 DISEASE itself! You all deserve to be boycotted!

Jewel-Osco - Asst. Manager

On Nov. 1, 2008 my son and I decided to go to Jewel
to purchase a bus pass. I went to the restroom first then my son. I was looking for a product and my son told me that a man came in on him and started watching and waiting for him to finish urinating. This is a one toilet restroom. My son is an autistic teen. The door was close. This person didn't knock and when he saw my son he came in on him. When my son told me I immediately searched for the man and
approach him about the matter. The man told me this is done all the time. The assistant manager came over. His name is Rich Hochgraver and apology for the matter but agreed with the man. I told the man it was inappropriate and when you see someone in the restroom to apology for opening the door and wait until your turn. The asst. manager said the door should have been locked. With the rate of children molestation, the asst. manager should've said something to the man for his indecent act. If this man came in on my son and felt comfortable doing this, how many other young men and boys have he walk in on? I thought the asst. manager was disrespectful to me and unprofessional in handling this matter.
