On Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at approximately 1240pm, I was walking down Aisle 11 looking for sandwich bags. As I entered the aisle, I was looking on the shelves and did not notice that there was a broken jar of cheese in the middle of the aisle.
Suddenly, my right leg began to slip into the cheese, and as I was trying to stop the fall, my left knee abruptly hit the floor. There were 2 other women in the aisle who saw me hit the floor and asked if I was okay. One of the women, went to locate an employee to assist me.
I was able to get up, and upon getting up there my right leg pant was covered in cheese, and my gymshoes.
The employee went and found the manager of the store, and as I limped to him, in excruitiating pain, the manager asked if I needed additional help, and I declined at the moment. He took my contact info and informed me that a claim would be submitted on my behalf.
I went to immediate care on Tuesday as well as Wednesday due to the pain, and was told to take minimum 600mg of Ibuprofen, ice the knee, and rest, so I was unable to go to work from Tuesday thru Friday.
Claimed loss: 3 days of work totaling $2568 plus emotional distress of $15,000.00 and the cost of food purchased on Tuesday at Jewell of $77.00.
Desired outcome: First, I would like a settlement for the pain and suffering, and not being able to work in the office. I would also like minimum $18,000.00 back for emotional distress.
