Do not sell books back to BooksRun!
I purchased a new textbook from BooksRun, ended up using the Ebook. The physical book was never used. They offered me $33.97 for the completely unused book that had sat in the original packaging since I got it. I had literally opened the package, looked at the book without turning the pages, and put it back in the padded envelope. I shipped it to them in the same packaging they had shipped it in and they changed the condition to "acceptable" and the value to $26.64. They have good prices on books, now I see it is because they are tricking and cheating people.
I contacted customer service and offered to mail the check back to them in return for the book back...no response. This is typical for a dirty company...they ignore customers hoping that they will go away. If complaintsboard can't help, the next best thing is to warn as many people as possible through twitter & facebook.
P.S.- That is a scary building you work in at 620 E. Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, PA [protected] You should clean up the garbage and old tires out in front!
Desired outcome: 1. Full amount of $33.972. Return of the book in exchange for returned check3. Credit toward another book4. Any other book shipped to me
Wow! How incredibly dishonest! The book was in perfect condition when it was sent. They must bounce the books off the floor, take pictures, and cheat people. It works great as a business model though...offer a fair price to buy back books, damage the books a little, lower the buyback price, resell the book at a lower price. It is a good company to buy books from, just don't fall for the book buyback scam.
It would be cheaper to run an honest business. The difference in the quoted price and the price they paid out is $7.33. I have exchanged email with Sandra from customer service and then this other guy takes time to post the message here...seems it cost more than $7.33 in their time to protect the scam!
The book was in new condition when I shipped it...either they damaged the book or the pictures are of a different copy of the book. Read other postings...find someplace else to sell your books. I am tempted to go buy a couple books from my local Barnes and Noble to sell to Booksrun. I bet that would be received in "acceptable condition". They are totally scamming people!
BooksRun - This business is a scam.
They lie about keeping their quotes valid. I sent them a book quoted for $40 and $8 and they claimed there was water damage, adjusting the value to $20 and $3, reducing the return by half. Either way they jip you and make money off of. The one book was sent with two other books and was brand new, those weren't adjusted, so there's no way one could have had water damage and not the others. They adjusted based on the new market and lied about the return. I tried to find a platform to leave reviews and saw they did the same to others! The same [censored] reasoning.
