O'Reilly Auto Parts - Purchase a faulty refurbished rack and pinion and when I went to exchange for another part, I was told that the part I had was not theirs.

I am so upset right now. I purchased a rack in pinon for my 2004 Honda Accord om 3/28/22. I took the part to my mechanic and he did the insulation of the part. Once he was finished servicing my vehicle, I pick the car up, within 2 hours of driving off with my car, I noticed the car was leaking some type of fluid. I immediately took it back to the mechanic and he stated that the rack in pinon part was faulty.

Today my mechanic took my receipt and the part to the O'reilly's located on 4503 Blanco Rd San Antonio, TX 78212 and the store manager Hector told my mechanic that the part was not purchased at O'reilly's. I made my way to the store to see what the misunderstanding was and Hector stated that the part I was returning was a "junk yard part".

After explaining to him multiple times that this was the part I bought from his store and informed him Ricardo, the sales associate helped me, he continued to stated that the part was not the part purchased. The receipt was even provided. I have never been treated with such utter disrespect. He was rude and condescending. I became upset an asked for the cooperate number and he pointed to the number and told me and my mechanic to leave the store.

As you can imagine, I was distraught, not only is my car not working, now I am out the $470.84 I paid for the parts and the cost I paid for the labor but I now have to pay an additional $350 for another part, core fee and installation again.

I called the cooperate office and the representative stated after speaking to Hector, and Ralph the District Manager, the store would not exchange the part they sold me. O'reilly does not have a standard way of how customers can identify the parts they purchase will be warrantied so how am I suppose to know? The representative could not answer that question for me.

This has been a nightmare. I hope that the District Manager or Regional Manager ae able to rectify this situation. I have shopped here for many years and I never imagine that something like this would happen.

Lastly, Hector, your store manger needs training on customer service. As the face of O'Reilly, he was very incompetent and rude.

Please see the photos below, this is not a junk yard part, this is what I was sold.

Desired outcome: I want the rack in pinion switched out for a non faulty part. I also want disciplinary action to be taken against Hector, the store manager.
