online fraud
I found 6 unauthorized transactions on my credit card this morning by STEAMGAMES.COM This company charged me for something I have no idea about! Total amount of scam is 330 usd. Not only I dont know now how to get back the money and if this is possible at all, but I am also left without working credit card while being travelling as my bank blocked it for security reasons.
unauthorised charges
Hi Team,
On 24th April 2018 at 11.30 PM IST, there were 2 transactions amounting to total 200 EUR made on my credit card ending with 8020 which were unauthorized and were not made by me. Attached screen shot of the msgs for your reference. Could you please help me refunding this amount back and also investigation how this happened as my card is pin code protected which was never used while making this transaction.
Thank you for looking into this matter.
Regards,
Rinu.
bad customer service
Got troubles with payments and contacted their customer service for assistance, gave them a full description of my issue and got nothing in return. Well, yes, they answered, but all of their answers were from frequently asked questions and none of them could resolve it because they had nothing to do with my problem whatsoever. Steam is not for free, but the way their service behaves could be much better...
no customer service/tech support/replies to contact for help
I have contacted Steam numerous times over the past year regarding software I purchased from/through them not working, accounts being "de-activated" preventing me from accessing the games I have purchased, very slow download speeds and, more recently, how to get access to those games (about 7) I have bought but can now not access or use.
Despite the myriad of emails to them, I have had no response from them other than one (1) automated message telling me they would reply within 48 hours - that was a week or so ago and still nothing.
I now have 3 accounts with this mob and they only allow me access to one of them, the most recent I had to make. I have a combined 7 purchased games (approximately $250 worth) in the other 2 accounts I am being prevented from accessing as when I try to gain access I am told the accounts have been "de-activated". I have attempted to contact Steam to see why the accounts were "de-activated" and why I am being prevented from accessing them. As stated, they simply refuse to respond.
I also purchased a Farming game (on DVD) that I had to use Steam for. After spending a great deal of time and download to get the game it did not work. Again, Steam was contacted and no response was forth coming from them. Again, they take the money then completely ignore you if you have a complaint.
Steam has NO customer support or technical support and refuses (in my case) to respond to my emails for help and advise. They take my money then stop me from using those things I have purchased without warning and without providing a reason for doing so. This, in my opinion, is nothing short of theft on their part - they take my (our) money then prevent me from using those things (games in this case) that I have legally purchased.
In short, Steam/Valve has:
1. No customer or technical Support
2. Refuses to respond to emails for help
3. Closes accounts without warning or reason
4. Takes money then blocks/prevents people from accessing what they have purchased
5. Has a unstable/unreliable delivery system
6. Appalling slow download/server speeds requiring 2 days + to download a single game in some cases
7. Is unethical in business approach attributing blame to the customer
8. Has adopted a "we have your money so we don't care" attitude
9. FAILS in every way to provide even a minimal service to its customers
What do I want?
I want a FULL REFUND for every game I have purchased and am now being prevented from playing as a result of THEM "de-activating my accounts" without warning, without providing a reason, and without my authorization or consent.
I want to be compensated for the cost incurred to me in download quota ($10 per gig) that it cost me to download those games I can no longer play as a result of them de-activating my accounts without warning, without providing a reason and without my consent or authorization.
I want Steam/Valve Management to be held accountable and responsible for their failure to provide customer service and technical support.
In short, I'd like to see Steam before a court to justify their intolerable business ethic before a judge where they cannot run and hide or make pathetic excuses. I want, as do so many others, to see them held accountable for their actions and lack there of.
credit card fraud
I found 6 steamgames.com charges to my card this morning totaling $600. Luckily my bank will take care of it. I called the number and there is no way to speak to a person. Same with their website. This company is clearly a front for fraud. They probably sell games as well but their primary objective seems to be to steal as much money as they can, make it...

I am out $60.00 be careful with this company.september 2015

game does not work!
I use Steam for a long time now and really love it, but recently I have purchased a game and when I wanted to play it I found out it was not working! This was my first bad experience with Steam. I tried to restart my computer but it did not help. I never ad problems with games! I asked Steam customer support for help but did not receive a response. I hope they'll help me.
steam
Every single time I've had reason to contact Steam support, I am reminded that this is a company that cares absolutely nothing for its customers. It's taken the company a month at minimum and two months on average to respond to my tickets at all - and never in any kind of helpful way. As for refunds, I have around 300 games on the platform, but on the 2 isolated occasions I requested refunds (because the games did not function at all on my system), my requests were automatically rejected, despite being exactly within Steam's company policy for automatic refunds. My subsequent tickets went unanswered for months, by which time the games were out of the refund time window and the point was moot. This doesn't even touch on the fact that Steam arbitrarily changes terms of service, including removing users' ability to sue, and locking you out of your library until you "agree" to the new terms - as if you have a choice. Steam is only a good service as long as you never encounter any issues. With their absolute garbage customer service and draconian DRM, best go with another service. I'm going to be boycotting Steam indefinitely. I'm sticking with GOG for the time being.
steam games
I used to buy at least one pc game every month before this rubbish called steam was introduced. I bought just cause 2 and could not play it as I dont have bandwidth to waste on so called updates and there was no indication that it was based on this rubbish of steam. I will never buy pc games anymore. I cannot understand why I have to be frustrated to play a game I payed for. I have gone back to my old ways of downloading pirated games on the internet (torrents and whatnot) Steam will lead to the death of pc gaming. It just takes away all the fun out of it.
steam currency change into dh is unbalanced
Today, 11/11/2015, Steam's currency changed from US Dollar ($) to the local currency of UAE, the Dirham (DH). This change was only for those who are in the UAE. However, there is an issue with the change. Games are priced in odd ways than they were before. An example: Game X was selling for $60 before the change in currency. After change in currency, the game is now selling for $80 when converted from DH to $. However, not all games are selling the same way. Some remain to sell at the same price, meanwhile others sell for same amount or less. Requesting Valve to address this issue!
fake charges for the subscription, which I have stopped
I subscribed for www.steampowered.com. I thought that I subscribed only for a month, because after that I have cancelled it. But they didn’t stop it and continued to take money from my account. I really don’t know how they have done it. I wrote so many emails and asked to stop all these charges, because I haven’t used their site. But they avoided all my emails and complaints. Beware and help to stop these bogus charges.
my access was blocked
I have no idea what the hell has happened. I registered on the website www.steamgames.com. I used this website only once, but on the next day the access to my account was blocked. I have no idea what to do now, ‘coz these jerks didn’t reply to my emails. Maybe someone can help me to restore my account. Please, post comments and share your views about the website.
allies with hackers
My kids are avid gamers so they only ask for steam gift cards whenever they are due a present. Unfortunately not all gamers are honorable and they find a friendly home to lurk in on steam. My son has been hacked at least 3 times and this is with even steam guard, changing passwords often, and good virus protection on his laptop. Each time my son is hacked he is barred from his own account and he spends days trying to regain control of it while in the interim the hacker totally wipes out his account and trades away all he has accumulated. We can literally watch it happening in real time as the hacker pretends to be my son and even goes so far as to hack my son's friends list and stealing from them so that they then post angry remarks blackening my son's reputation on steam. Each time my son is re-instated to his ransacked account as steam acknowledges his rights of ownership but they refuse to rescind the illegal trades and seem to condone the actions of the hackers. Steam supports blatant refusal to ban the hacker or his illegal actions are intolerable to paying customers, especially when they are minors being victimized. Proof of before hacking account levels should be enough to take back items from criminals but steam just doesn't care... One might imagine some kind of internal involvement perhaps? Who knows but one thing is for sure is that there is absolutely zero support for steam customers victimized by the steam criminal element.
maybe try changing your account's password to something completely different, or logging accounts out on every other device.
also, you cant watch it in realtime. if you are locked out, you cant see it.
impossible to get any replies from the support team
My friend ordered game from the website www.steamgames.com. I got the game, but it didn’t work and when I tried to install it, the icon appeared and asked to provide the code. Wtf? I sent several emails to the support team and asked what to do next, but I got only one reply. They promised to provide the code in the next email. But I haven’t received it. As well as they stopped to reply. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Can you provide any good piece of advice?
yes they are fraud.
bad experience
I ordered bioshock infinity from the website www.steamgames.com. my payment went promptly, but I haven’t received my order. I waited more than 2 weeks, but it was written on the website that they deliver within 2-3 days. The seller didn’t reply to my emails. I wonder if there people, who had the same bad experience with this seller? Maybe someone can advise me something or provide any good ideas. Post them, please.
unauthorized charges
File a police report with your city for identity theft/fraud and file a claim to dispute the charges with your bank. My bank immediately shut my debit card down and are going to reverse the charges within 12 hours. This valve company charged $39.99 twice on my card and when you are a student working hard and going to school $80 wiped out of your account is alot of money. So, my advice call the company (you will have to press 7 for the billing department and you will have to leave a message because no one anwers), then call your bank, dispute the charges and then file a police report with your city because it is identity theft and fraud. I don't play games, I hate video games and I don't purchase any video games for anyone in my family. I don't know how they received my info but my bank account is at $15 because of this company.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Why is my atm account reduced $139.51?...I do not know about that steam games...plzzz just get my money back
I get these charges every month. How do you stop them.
Do you have children? Valve is a well respected vendor of video games.
they do not stand by their products
Not only do they require you to install and program giving them access to your computer, they also do not stand by their products. I purchased a product from Steam, and there were numerous bugs in the software that rendered the program unusable. After more than a month of arguing with a customer service team that didn't actually respond appropriately to the questions I asked, they continually refused a refund based on the fact that "they do not offer refunds even if the software does not function as specified at the time of purchase."
DO NO PURCHASE FROM STEAM. There are many other vendors that do not require you to download a privacy invading program that consumes computer resources and mines data, and sell the SAME software at SAME OR BETTER prices. Oh, and I have never had any issues with any other software vendor that denies refunds when they ADMITTEDLY SELL YOU A FAULTY PRODUCT.
I have also been sucked-in by Steam, after purchasing software for Doom 3. Having successfully installed the disc and access the website account, I still cannot get the game to operate, and there is no assistance whatsoever from admin or technical support, despite my inquiries. It is a complete rip-off.
software or pc issue, not steams.
I totally agree, I lost double the amount. I wrote to them and they advised they do not offer refunds or exchanges. The company is a pure rip off.
I bought what appeared to be a simple video game called Sniper Ghost Warrior at Walmart for about $15. After I thought it was installed, the only application available was "Steam." It is the online agreement. After going through several pages of user agreement, I began to see the catch. I've been through simular scams. Just create and account, give us your credit card numbers (so we can automatically bill you anytime), and give us complete access to your computer. And, of course the game CD cannot be returned if you opened it. So, I lost $15 to these pickpockets. That will be all they get from me. This scam should be in the news. Everyone should be warned about this method of theft. I'll just stick to Windows Solitaire. Games have become a scam.
no support contact
I purchased a game - Sid Meier's Civilization V from Best Buy. I installed it on my computer and it initally ran fine. I had a problem with my computer and Windows 7 crashed. I backed up my game on an external hard drive and also backed it up to Carbonite Online Backup. I tried to re-install the game and Steam sent me my Account name and I reset my password...
Read full review of Valve and 10 commentsblocked account due to paypal issues
I recently bought a game from Steam on an account which I have multiple games. The next thing I know, Paypal stopped the payment, thinking that it might be linked to fraud. They then required a response from Steam.
Steam then simply shut my account down, and told me that I had to resolve it with Paypal. Paypal have told me that Steam have to resolve the issue.
I've since sent 3 three emails asking Steam to give me the details to make a new payment via paypal, but after several days they have still not responded.
Steam has terrible customer support, with even worse response times. When they do reply, it's normally a canned response which bears little relevance to your question.
My advice is: stay away from Steam as much as you can, if something does go wrong, you lose everything and they don't care.
Business practices
As a consumer that just discovered the SteamPowered website, I was under the impression that this was a online store that I can buy and download games from.
Well, the catch is, although you download the software to your computer, you still need to log in through their website in order to access and run the software. They give you a little program to do this.
When you run this program, it will need to 'update itself' and to accomplish this, you need to provide it with your administration rights, so that it can download the software to an alias HD copy that it creates in your applications folder. This is different than authorizing something to be downloaded.
Sorry if I don't want to give this company access to my computer. So, I did not download any software and and requested a refund - since I did not take possession of the software.
They continue to respond to my emails with inane responses as if I had trouble downloading or something.
Gamers beware. Search the web for other complaints about this company before you send them money.
I'm glad, at least you were able to get onto the site. Every time I try, I keep getting asked for a new code. I have never been able to accomplish anything with this site. Unfortunately, most of the games you buy now require this site to play, can't tell you how many times I've wasted money on a game that is totally useless, most at least state a steam account is required, but not all do.
@WhoCaresAboutYou?
Are you for real?
The best what?
Thanks for my morning laugh.
Sorry for your loss howling they tend to do things like that to a lot of the members, maybe like me you should research first.
A lesson for both of us.
So you're complaining about one of the best digital download services on the internet? Are you dumb? Why not do research about a product before you buy it?
