We booked a Viking River cruise with another couple which we referred because we had previously had a good experience with Viking some years back. This however has been a nightmare. We were supposed to travel in August of 2020. We rebooked at the suggestion of the agent because he said it would probably be cancelled when we kept checking in with Viking. We were very disappointed but moved the trip to the following year and our friends were still able to reschedule with us. They required us to pay more money again for the trip insurance which was wrong in our opinion because we had already paid for it once. Then came the vaccination requirements! We are not vaccinated and it is no one’s business why. We got the letter offering the voucher with 125% and took it after a lengthy conversation with a representative who thought the requirements would be lifted in the future. Had we known they had no intention of lifting the vaccination requirement both couples would have taken a full refund. But now we have vouchers that are going to expire, paid for trip insurance twice and have been told we will lose our money if we don’t rebook and get vaccinated. This is unacceptable and I am sure this illegal but have to spend thousands of dollars to go forward with legal action. We have every intention of doing so but cannot believe a large company like this would keep treating people like this! So extremely disappointed with Viking and how they have mishandled this requirement.
Desired outcome: Be allowed to rebook and travel on the Grand European tour as planned unvaccinated & NOT give them any personal health info! Or get a full refund for us & our friends as well as the two times we had to purchase trip insurance!
This is NOT a resolution...saying we have already been in contact with the Viking Team. They don't want to resolve anything, they just don't want online negative comments. Closing this after I hadn't even received anything in a week is unacceptable as well. I had some personal issues and didn't have time to go look at this. They have had our monies for 3 years and you barely let a complaint be out there for a week. What a sad joke for a company. Unfortunately at this point we obviously have to get a lawyer involved and maybe the news as well.
This complaint has been resolved automatically due to user's inactivity.
We have the exact same problem and have been trying to get a refund. So far we have been unsuccessful. We will be taking legal action if they do not lift the vaccine requirement, or provide us with a refund. It appears this has the possibility of being a class action claim if not resolved by Viking soon!

There is a group of us going forward with a class action.
Yes!
If you have not, write to vikingvictimsatyahoodotcom. There’s a group of us in the same boat. I would NEVER recommend Viking Cruises to anyone. Covid presented unexpected and unpredictable circumstances, that many of us were willing to be patient as the world waited for the dust to settle. Viking is taking advantage of their voucher program and the free money it is providing them as our vouchers near expiration, with no change to their covid vax requirements. Note articles April 19, 2023 in Afar.com and April 4, 2023 in Travelpulse.com regarding Vaccination policies to Cruise. There are MANY other options for travelers who object to this experimental jab requirement. As far as Viking reaching out, to date, when we have heard from their representatives, we have heard nothing but a rehearsed word salad and stonewalling.
I would also like to add, that our bookings and payments were made and received in full by Viking well BEFORE any covid policies were established and announced the summer of 2021.
They may proclaim to be an elite cruise company, but we beg to differ.
