Beware of VHLcentral.com: My Nightmare Experience with 424 Assignments Disappearing
Yo, so I gotta share my experience with Vista Higher Learning aka vhlcentral.com. So my professor assigned over 400 assignments (!) and they didn't even have enough textbooks for everyone. So they gave me a waiver for 2 weeks, which seemed cool but turned out to be a freakin' nightmare.
I submitted 424 assignments like a boss during those 2 weeks, but when the waiver was over my prof could only see 12 of them. I was like, WTF?! I contacted customer service and they were no help. They could only see the 12 assignments too. So I sent them screen shots where you could clearly see all the other assignments I did, but they still couldn't find them. It was like I was working in the Matrix and my work was disappearing into oblivion.
I kept trying to get help and asked if maybe I had 2 accounts or something. They said no and opened up a ticket to investigate it. The next day, ALL MY SUBMISSIONS WERE GONE. I had to re-enter 75 assignments. It was a total clusterf***. I kept emailing the engineering department (like wtf even is that?) and they were less useful than a wet noodle. I was seriously about to lose it.
To make matters worse, when I logged into vhlcentral.com on my dad's computer, the screen looked totally different than it did on my computer. On my comp the last submission was the day before, on my dad's comp it was months ago. I took screen shots with both computers showing the same day and time and sent them to VHL engineering, but they still had no clue.
And my prof was no help either. She couldn't see my submissions and even accused me of faking the screen shots. Like, what in the actual hell? I paid $175 for this mess and ended up with a C- in Spa101. I could have gotten an A if this system actually worked. But instead, my GPA got crushed.
I seriously would have dropped the class if I had known about these issues beforehand. VHLcentral.com is a total disaster. Avoid it if you can. This was a horrific experience and I am never using this service again.
Review: VHL - A Frustrating Language Learning Experience
I personally would not recommend using VHL for any language course. In fact, if you're looking to learn a new language, you may want to consider alternatives such as Duolingo Plus which is more effective and affordable. With VHL, there are several issues that have made my learning experience quite frustrating.
First and foremost, the book my course is using (Promenades) is subpar at best. There is a lack of thorough explanations, and the fact that half of the pages are exercises found on the website is quite unhelpful. Speaking of the website, it is a disaster. The instructions are unclear, and some questions are marked incorrect for not using a specific word or phrase - one that hasn't even been taught yet. The worst part is that the website is plagued with bugs. One of my classmates finished a difficult exam, hit the submit button, and the entire exam vanished into thin air! As a result, they failed the exam and the course because they didn't want their GPA to be adversely affected. This has been a recurring issue in our class, and we now take videos or screen captures of our exams just in case.
Furthermore, several questions are subjective and could have different answers. In one instance, a picture of a person with a cake was shown in our exam, and the answer VHL wanted was the French equivalent of "this person is lucky" which was quite baffling. Why not the more obvious answer like "this person is eating" or "this person is hungry"?
Finally, several classmates have dropped out of the course, citing VHL as their reason for dropping. The website marks answers as incorrect for no valid reason, and this has left many frustrated. I concur with their decision to leave as I don't believe VHL is worth the money or effort.
In summary, I suggest avoiding VHL at all costs. It is unhelpful, confusing, and plagued with bugs. You are better off with other language learning programs that are more effective and affordable.
Avoid the Headache: A Warning Against Buying from Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com)
Don't even think of clicking that mouse on Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com). Let me save you from this stress and headache of dealing with a company that has no desire to help their customers. I recently purchased a virtual textbook and a wSAM code for $200.26 from VHL on May 16th. The very next day, I had to cancel my order due to a schedule change in my course. So, I immediately emailed the company explaining my situation and requested a refund. But their customer service representative told me that I should spend another $200 to get the correct book and then I may get a reimbursement. That was a no-no for me since the new book wasn't even from VHL.
Things escalated quickly when I explained my case and requested a refund, but VHL kept insisting that virtual textbooks are not eligible for returns. Imagine that? Even though they claim to accept refunds on physical textbooks, they abruptly decided digital textbooks can't be refunded – this is is clearly an unethical practice. I asked to speak with a supervisor, but they were not forthcoming until I made several requests.
A customer service supervisor finally reached out to me but said that they couldn't make a one-time exception for my refund, which I found illogical and unacceptable. So, I showed some evidence from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of other unsatisfied customers who had similar situations like mine but were eventually refunded, but he still refused. Honestly, their business practices are outright immoral, and they have resorted to gimmicks of 'shady swaps' and 'exchanges' that only make them more profit. Not professional at all!
I'm still waiting to hear back from them after they promised to investigate my complaint. It's a month since this debacle started, and all I can do is to warn you against buying anything from VHL. Lesson learnt, and I'm happy to share with all of you. If you read the reviews on Sitejabber and the BBB, you would realize this is a dysfunctional company with disgusting policies. I hope they get called out for their unethical practices or rethink their immoral policy. Whatever you do, avoid VHL at all costs.
My Experience with Vista Higher Learning: A Disappointing and Substandard Approach to Learning Spanish
When it comes to learning Spanish with Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com), my personal experience has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. At the beginning of the school year, my Spanish teacher incorporated this program into our lessons, but it quickly became challenging and confusing for the class, so she abandoned it and developed her teaching style instead. Although her new method has been successful, we recently revisited the program and it turned out to be a chaotic experience. The questions in the program contained vocabulary that was not covered in the lessons, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.
Moreover, earlier in the year, we were required to engage with the website and watch a video, which turned out to be confusing since the speakers were using past, present, and future tenses, while our curriculum focused only on the present tense. Reflecting on my experience, I believe that this program caters to those who have a pre-existing understanding of Spanish, while disregarding the fact that most of the students enrolled are new to the language. As a Mexican myself, I found it disappointing and substandard, and I would undoubtedly choose more useful and well-rounded language learning applications, such as Duolingo or even Babbel.
In conclusion, while Vista Higher Learning may work for some, it has not proved to be a helpful tool for me and my classmates. The program's disorganized and disconnected approach to teaching can make the learning experience increasingly arduous, turning students away from it. Perhaps the program's developers should consider revising it to cater to a broader audience of students and instructors at different learning stages.
The Frustration and Exhaustion of Using Vista Higher Learning's platform: A Review
Upon hearing the mention of Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com), one can't help but feel a wide range of emotions. While some may have had a smooth sailing experience with the platform, others have experienced outright frustration and despair. As for the latter, it seems that the lessons offered on the website are not only time-consuming but also incredibly challenging. Many have found themselves struggling to comprehend the content, leading to a buildup of anger and exhaustion. Some even describe feeling as though they want to destroy everything in their path!
To say that these lessons are tedious would be an understatement. Students are begging for an easier route to understanding the material. Instead of feeling as though they're moving towards fluency, the majority feels as though they're stuck in a never-ending cycle of confusion. The lessons are hard enough, don't make the questions in a language that has not been fully learned yet! It's frustrating to not have a basic understanding of what one is being asked, and it creates a barrier to the learning process.
In light of this feedback, it is essential that Vista Higher Learning listens to their users and makes crucial changes to make the lessons more accessible. Here's hoping that they can turn trash into treasure and have a better standing with crucial stakeholders.
Vista Higher Learning (VHL Central) Review: Expensive and Useless Textbook with Unfair Platform Grading
As an avid user of online learning tools, I am disappointed to say that my experience with Vista Higher Learning (VHL Central) has not been positive. As a student at Penn State, I was required to purchase this textbook for my language learning class. Unfortunately, I found out that the entire experience was a scam.
Firstly, the book is priced at an exorbitant $160, which is a significant amount more than other learning tools I have used in the past. I was already skeptical but decided to give it a try anyway. However, I quickly found out that the book itself was useless. It lacked proper explanations of the content, making it challenging to learn anything from it.
The real trouble began when I started doing the activities. Since the book failed to provide adequate explanations, the activities became even more challenging to execute. Also, the platform grading system is too strict and unfair. For example, extra spaces or missing periods could cause students to lose marks on their assignments. Additionally, even the correct solutions to the activities could be marked incorrect. The platform only accepts specific answers, which makes it challenging to find solutions that work.
It's worth noting that even native speakers who attempted to help me with my assignments had issues with the VHL Central platform, which is not a good sign. If even language experts are struggling with the platform, how are non-native speakers or students supposed to learn effectively?
Therefore, I would strongly recommend avoiding any courses or books that use VHL Central. Students deserve learning tools that help them learn effectively, and VHL Central fails to provide that. Save your money and invest in other, more reliable learning platforms.
Unhelpful Customer Service and Payment Issues: My Review of Vista Higher Learning
My experience with Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com) was extremely frustrating. I had been trying to purchase an access code for $175 online, but my card kept getting declined no matter what I tried. After going to VHL's troubleshooting page and following all the steps, I still couldn't get it to work.
That's when I decided to call their customer service, hoping for some actual help. Unfortunately, the operator just repeated the same information that was on the website. When I asked if I could pay over the phone, they told me it wasn't possible and suggested I create a PayPal account as a last resort.
I was really disappointed with how unhelpful the operator was. It seemed like they didn't care that I was having such difficulty using their service. In fact, I even felt like they were trying to avoid taking responsibility for the issue altogether.
Overall, I would caution others against using this company. It's clear that they are more focused on making money than providing excellent customer service. If you're an instructor, I would strongly recommend finding an alternative company to partner with. For students, try reaching out to your bookstore or book provider to find other options.
I found it frustrating and disappointing that a company charged with educating and supporting students could be so unresponsive and unhelpful. Frankly, it felt like they were simply taking advantage of people who were in a difficult situation. I will definitely be looking for alternative options moving forward, and encourage others to do the same.
Disappointing Experience with Vista Higher Learning: Confusing Bundles, Poor Customer Service, and Costly Mistakes
My experience with Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com) left me feeling extremely disappointed and frustrated. I was required to purchase a textbook, workbook, and VHL central code for my French class. The different bundles and products were confusing, so I ended up purchasing the top one without realizing that it only contained the textbook. When I tried to return it, I was denied and forced to pay $80 for the VHL central code.
Despite my difficulties, I completed all the assignments for my class. However, when the workbook still hadn't arrived after several weeks, I realized that I had purchased the wrong package. Unfortunately, I was past the 30-day window to return the textbook, which was still in mint condition. This left me with no other option but to purchase the correct package, costing me an additional $380. I canceled another order that was wrong and, to this day, I'm yet to be refunded.
All in all, my experience with Vista Higher Learning was an expensive one, totaling $460. The poor customer service and confusing product options left me feeling helpless and robbed of my money. I wouldn't recommend enrolling in their language classes. I had to learn the hard way and fell behind in my French class as a result. Their contact options were also useless, making it even more difficult to get the assistance that I needed.
This experience has taught me to be more cautious when purchasing educational materials and to pay close attention to the product details to avoid wasting my time and money.
Vista Higher Learning Review: A Nightmare of Frustration and Disappointment
My experience with Vista Higher Learning, also known as vhlcentral.com, has been a complete nightmare. It is a frustrating platform that seems to be designed to discourage learning. In fact, I have seen numerous people give up on learning altogether after using this service.
One of the most significant issues with this platform is the way it presents questions in Spanish with words and grammar structures that have not yet been taught. This makes it impossible to understand and answer the questions correctly. Additionally, the examples provided do not offer any explanation about what the exercises are about, making it even harder to comprehend.
Lessons on this platform are also inadequate, as they fail to explain the exercises and concepts comprehensively. Furthermore, the pace and variety of topics are not appropriately sequenced, resulting in a disjointed learning experience that feels like a jumbled mess.
The estimated times for lessons and tests on this platform are also misleading. They are incredibly short and fail to account for the time needed to comprehend the material fully. The platform is also costly, with a $300 price tag for renting an electronic copy of the book, which is outrageous.
Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of this platform is the lack of answers to exercises. This creates an unnecessary hurdle for those trying to learn, as there is no way to verify if the answers are correct.
Moreover, the platform is unintuitive and often provides nonsensical answers to exercises. As a student, using VHL feels like the platform is fighting against you rather than aiding in your learning. It is an incredibly frustrating experience that leaves one feeling defeated and discouraged.
Sadly, the platform does not provide any insights into a student's skill level, forcing teachers to make assumptions based on the time spent on the platform. As someone who has used VHL, I would never recommend it. It is a scam that exploits institutions and students alike.
VHLCentral.com Review: Poor Customer Service and Issues with Purchasing Vtext Code
Unfortunately, some students have had a negative experience when attempting to learn a new language through Vista Higher Learning's online platform, vhlcentral.com. Additionally, there have been issues with purchasing the necessary Vtext code for the program. One disgruntled user purchased the textbook through Amazon, which was advertised as coming with the Vtext code included. However, the code was missing from the package. Upon contacting VHL customer service, they were informed that they would need to purchase another code for $185, despite evidence suggesting that it was not Amazon's fault. This has resulted in frustration and potential academic consequences for some students.
It is disheartening to see a company prioritize profit over the education and success of their customers, especially in the current economic climate where many students are already struggling financially. Additionally, the lack of accountability and customer service from VHL is unacceptable. It is a shame that companies such as VHL are able to take advantage of students' desire to learn and advance themselves, which can detrimentally impact their academic careers. The education system should be supportive and accessible, not a means for corporations to exploit vulnerable individuals. It is important for students to be aware of these issues and hold companies accountable for their actions.
Review of Vista Higher Learning's Spanish Course: Major Issues and Inconveniences
As someone who has had the opportunity to use the Spanish course provided by Vista Higher Learning (VHL), I feel it is necessary to share my experiences with the platform. Unfortunately, from a student's perspective, there are several issues that make it difficult to recommend this service.
Firstly, it appears that VHL primarily incentivizes instructors to push their mediocre and overpriced materials onto students. In fact, the course is required in order to pass my university's SPANLANG program. This makes it seem as though they are conducting their business in a way that does not necessarily prioritize student experience or satisfaction.
Additionally, VHL struggles with core elements in their service. For example, the Protagonistas course is presented as being available with or without add-on materials. However, neither the website nor my instructor could explain what this add-on was. I decided to test out the trial version of the course with the add-on included, only to find that it was not necessary at all. After purchasing a license and registering it with my trial account, I was shocked to find that my access to the website was cut off after only a week by the company. When I reached out to VHL support, they informed me that my license did not match my account course, and that I needed to buy the add-on in order to regain access to what I had already paid for.
Unfortunately, these issues were only the beginning of my troubles. VHL hosts video and audio material on their website, which was often inaccessible due to malfunctioning media players. As if that were not enough, after my class ended, VHL restricted my access to the website materials by introducing popups and ceasing progress indicators. When I opened a support case to address the issue, their response was less than helpful - stating that the content was still accessible despite the popups.
Overall, my experience with VHL was incredibly frustrating and I truly wish that they would prioritize their customer's satisfaction more. As it stands, the platform has far too many problems and lacks the level of support necessary to be considered a reliable resource for language learners.
Vista Higher Learning Language Program Review: A Waste of Time and Money
Since the pandemic hit, I have been taking my classes online and unfortunately, one of the language credits required for my degree was only available through Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com). I was not looking forward to it as the other language options offered at my school were not appealing to me.
To make matters worse, my teacher required me to purchase a physical book, which was optional on the website, costing me an additional $300 on top of the tuition and online class fees. In the end, I paid $900 for this program and it was ultimately not worth it.
Let me tell you why, first and foremost, I have never encountered a language program that spoke so fast. Sure, I understand that this is how the language is spoken in its country of origin, but it's not helpful to language learners. When you're learning a new language, slow and enunciated words help you comprehend and practice the language, but they seem to think the opposite is true. The slang version of words in the Roman videos makes it even harder to understand.
Furthermore, the questions are highly subjective and expect you to have context that you don't have. For example, it will mark you down for using an informal phrase when it expects a formal one, even when all you're asking is, "What time is it?" It's difficult to know when you're supposed to use these different levels of formality, and it's tough to learn this way.
Overall, I found Vista Higher Learning to be completely laughable and a waste of time and money. I wholeheartedly recommend that if your school uses this program, avoid it like the plague. This company does not deserve your hard-earned money and there are far better language-learning resources available.
Review: VHL Central's Language Learning Platform - Proceed with Caution
VHL Central is an online teaching platform that offers students the opportunity to learn multiple languages. However, our review found that, unfortunately, several issues exist within the software that make it less than satisfactory. The program is poorly designed, trying to con students into failing. While this may not have worked for our reviewer, many students may find themselves struggling to keep up. One of the most egregious issues our reviewer found was that VHL Central will test students on concepts that are not taught later on in the program, leaving some students confused and frustrated.
Additionally, the software is heavily reliant on pictures to teach vocabulary, with no translations provided for Spanish examples in some lessons. This can leave students feeling lost and disoriented. The Fotonovelas, while perhaps intended to teach Spanish in everyday settings, are often irrelevant and don't help students practice the skills they are meant to learn. Even more frustratingly, these stories can be complex, with multiple vocab words and sentence structures thrown at beginner Spanish students with little or no explanation.
Despite all these issues, our reviewer was still able to earn As in their Spanish classes. However, they attribute their success more to their own hard work and resourcefulness than to VHL Central itself. They recommend that students look into the books and programs their school uses before taking any language classes for credit, and if VHL Central is the chosen program, to proceed with caution. The advice is to use the software minimally and find other sources to teach the concepts and skills needed to succeed. The Fotonovelas should be skipped over, or at best skimmed, and students should focus on finding key words in the quizzes that match the transcripts in the video clips to minimize confusion and remain productive.
Overall, while VHL Central may be a cheap option for language learners, students may find it more efficient to invest in other products to learn the skills required to succeed in a language course.
Vista Higher Learning Complaints 14
Every single product sucks
Every single product offered by this company is an insane rip-off scam. $270 for a limited time textbook access code that isn't resellable? Sure! Why do I have to pay for 24 months of access to your textbook when the class is only 3 months? Its not like I'm going to be using it the whole time. Everything this company offers is a money grab scam and students are forced to pay insane prices because this is the company that the college uses. Thanks for being a [censored]ty company
Desired outcome: Stop existing and scamming people
Review: VHL Central Spanish Learning Program - Helpful, But Flawed
The VHL Central program, offered by Vista Higher Learning, has some helpful lessons for early Spanish learners. However, there are some concerns regarding the accessibility of settings that can make cheating on lessons very convenient, which may appeal to some students wanting a quick and easy route to completing the requirements. Moreover, even for students attempting to complete the lessons honestly, it can be quite challenging, even for native Spanish speakers.
One of the major issues with the program is that the speech recognition program meant to test pronunciation is overly sensitive. In a loud classroom, where most students are attempting to pronounce words, the program tends to fail in recognizing the words which affects the entire learning experience. As a result, most students end up taking the manual grading route where they grade themselves. However, even this feature is often exploited and many students resort to cheating without even trying to learn the right pronunciation from the program.
Overall, the lessons in VHL Central feel more like a test system than an actual learning module. It is easy for most students to cheat on a majority of the questions, which in turn discourages honest attempts to learn the language. In contrast, there are better and more rewarding learning resources available, including Duolingo, which is widely regarded as one of the best language-learning apps out there.
Not Worth the Money: Frustrating and Ineffective Online Learning Platform
This website ain't that great. The activities are hella hard and if you don't get what's wrong with your answer, you either gotta cheat and look it up on quizlet so you don't get a bad grade and don't learn anything or you just fail the whole thing. Plus, it cost a lot of cash.
It ain't even made to help you learn! The "interactive" book doesn't even talk out loud so you can hear how to say words, and you can't even copy and paste nothing from it. Some of the stuff in the book is so advanced and without help, it's basically impossible to figure out how to do anything 'cuz they don't have no answers. Even if you tried to put in extra time to study, it's like trying to climb a mountain with no hands or feet 'cuz there's no answers or explanations for any of the problems.
The textbook ain't even good organized for people who speak English to understand Spanish grammar. It's like they set up the whole thing backwards or something.

A Frustrating and Punishing Learning Experience: My Review of VHL Central (vhlcentral.com)
As a student, I was extremely disappointed with my experience using Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com), a language learning site that is supposed to help students master foreign languages more easily. However, rather than being a helpful and dynamic learning resource, I found this site to be particularly frustrating and punishing. Even a single letter error could result in losing points on quizzes, which was fully demotivating.
One of my biggest complaints about VHL Central was that it would often move onto the next lesson without explaining what I had done wrong. Not only was this unhelpful, but it also made the learning experience incredibly disjointed and frustrating. Additionally, I found that some of the lessons did not cover the materials that would actually be featured on the upcoming tests, which was quite bewildering.
Overall, I found VHL Central to have poor design and completely ineffective in teaching language skills. I cannot believe that some schools still require their students to use it. In fact, I disliked the site so much that I made an account on Sitejabber solely to express my frustration. It is quite possibly the CollegeBoard of language learning sites, and that is not a compliment in the slightest.
Review: My Disappointing Experience with Vista Higher Learning's vhlcentral.com Language Course
When I signed up to take an online language course using Vista Higher Learning's vhlcentral.com program, I was excited to start learning a new skill from the comfort of my own home. However, my experience with this program left me feeling extremely disappointed and frustrated with the learning process.
First of all, I had heard from my language teacher that he liked this program, so I went into it with high expectations. However, as a distance learner, I found that the combination of the text and online components were not very supportive for actually learning the material. I had used another program for learning a different language in the past, and I found that program to be much more user-friendly and easy to learn from.
One of my biggest complaints about Vista's program is the lack of audio that coincides directly with the lessons. Instead, you have to go to the audio lab which is not connected in any way to the text. This made it difficult for me to integrate the audio component into my learning process and made it feel like an added, disconnected task instead of a helpful tool for learning.
Another issue with the program is the lack of explanations in the book. Instead of clear instructions and explanations of concepts, the book is filled with what feels like endless homework assignments without much direction or context. While it is certainly good to have reading assignments to practice the language, it would be much more helpful if there were more guidance along the way to ensure that I am actually understanding and learning the material.
One major concern for me is not knowing if I am pronouncing words and phrases correctly. While I make an effort to read the text carefully and try to get the pronunciation right, I have no way of knowing if I am doing it correctly without more guidance, feedback, and audio accompaniment.
All in all, while I had high hopes for Vista Higher Learning's online language course, my experience with vhlcentral.com fell far short of my expectations. I hope that the developers of this program will take these concerns into account in future iterations and make the platform more user-friendly, supportive, and effective for language learners.
Mixed Reviews for VHLcentral.com: Frustration and Lack of Clarity Balances Quality of Professor and Blackboard Shell
Vista Higher Learning, or vhlcentral.com, has received mixed reviews from students. Some people find the platform to be frustrating and without proper guidance and direction. The website lacks a clear introduction and structure, making it difficult for students to navigate and find their way around. It is almost like a paper version of a course, but online, with little support or clarity for users.
However, it is not all bad news. Some students appreciate the excellence of the professor and the quality of the Blackboard shell. These aspects of the course have helped some students to cope with the difficulties of using vhlcentral.com.
Unfortunately, others have found the experience of using VHL to be a significant challenge. In fact, some people have reported that they have had to quit and give up due to the sheer frustration of trying to use the platform. It is fair to say that some students may well do better by squinting at a textbook and simply conversing with others in person.
Ultimately, each individual's experience with vhlcentral.com may vary. For some, it may be a challenging and frustrating experience, while for others, it may work wonderfully. Therefore, it is important to keep an open mind when beginning a course that uses this learning platform.
Disappointing Experience with Vista Higher Learning (VHL) Language Platform
As someone who has a passion for learning a new language, I have explored countless resources online to help me achieve my goal. While there are various platforms available like Youtube, podcasts, and apps, I must admit that Vista Higher Learning (VHL) was not one of my top choices. Although I am sure VHL has helped many individuals in their language-learning journey, it did not work for me. Firstly, the steep cost of $270 was a major turn-off for me, especially when compared to the numerous free or inexpensive language resources available online.
Furthermore, I found the online textbook provided by VHL to be quite dissatisfying. The text was small and barely legible, which made it very difficult for me to read. In addition, the content was not user-friendly- it was inaccessible and almost useless in teaching me the language. For instance, when I made a mistake, instead of receiving explanations, I was simply presented with a highlighted word, and left to figure out the correction on my own. As a beginner in a 101 class, I have yet to internalize the fluency skills required to identify and remedy my errors. And even if I did, my repetitive mistakes are often an essential component of the learning process.
Overall, I found the VHL online textbook to be a classic example of an expensive textbook that simply presents information instead of actually teaching the language. While some individuals may find this platform useful, I was thoroughly disappointed by my experience with it.
Vhlcentral.com Review: Poorly Constructed Book Fails to Deliver Effective Language Learning Experience
As someone who has been using Spanish for the past decade, I have gained an intimate understanding of the language's nuances and intricacies. While my conversational skills may be solid, I knew my grammar was lacking, having learned primarily through informal conversations with others. This motivated me to seek out additional resources, leading me to the Vista Higher Learning platform, vhlcentral.com.
Unfortunately, my experience with their material has not been a positive one. In fact, I find myself feeling extremely frustrated and disappointed by what I have encountered. I cannot in good conscience recommend this book to anyone, particularly those who are just beginning to learn the language.
First and foremost, this book provides absolutely no helpful explanations. It seems like there is an expectation that students will simply be able to absorb information without any guidance or scaffolding provided along the way. This is a significant problem, as it makes it incredibly difficult to grasp more complex concepts or to recognize how different areas of the language are connected and interrelated.
To make matters worse, the book itself is incredibly inconsistent and difficult to navigate. There are such a large number of boxes, pictures, and colors that it is almost impossible to follow any sort of linear progression. For someone just starting out, trying to sort through the overwhelming amount of visual information can be extremely daunting and discouraging.
In my opinion, professors who choose to use this book in their coursework are doing a disservice to their students. Rather than providing a solid foundation upon which to build their language skills, they are subjecting them to a disorganized, poorly constructed mess that is unlikely to instill confidence or help foster a love for the language. It is my hope that other resources will start to emerge that offer a more engaging and effective approach to language acquisition. Until then, I would encourage anyone considering using vhlcentral.com to look elsewhere for better options.
Vista Higher Learning Review: A Disappointing Experience for Academic Excellence
As an individual who values academic excellence, the experience I had with Vista Higher Learning has left me sorely disappointed and discouraged. While the first lesson had been tolerable, the second lesson proved to be significantly more challenging. The videos provided by the platform contained unfamiliar vocabulary that I had yet to master, and thus left me spending countless hours trying to comprehend the information being presented. To make matters worse, the questions asked were in Spanish - a language that I had not yet fully learned - leaving me feeling overwhelmed and ill-prepared.
As someone who was passionate about learning Spanish, it was truly disheartening to feel so disenchanted with a course. While I am no slouch in my studies, I found myself struggling and concerned that this course could potentially ruin my otherwise flawless GPA.
It was also concerning to realize that the platform did not offer partial points for missed accent marks or minor spelling errors. As a result, I felt like I was being held to an impossibly high standard, without the benefit of having an actual teacher to guide and support me.
Overall, my experience with Vista Higher Learning has not been a positive one. Rather than feeling motivated and excited to learn Spanish, I dread the thought of logging on to the platform each day, knowing that it will be another stressful and frustrating experience. In fact, this course has left me with so little free time that I have had to sacrifice attention for other subjects - a sacrifice that should not be necessary. If given a choice, I would strongly recommend that students avoid using this platform at all costs, as it has proven to be a hindrance to my academic progress and a major source of stress.
Challenging and Demoralizing: A Review of VHL's French Course for Students
As a student who is currently enrolled in a French course, I must say that I have had quite a challenging experience with the Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com) program. At times, the exercises I have encountered have seemed inaccurate, redundant, and of little practical use. The explanations of grammar concepts were frequently lacking in clarity, and I found myself constantly second-guessing my responses to the comprehensive questions. It has been frustrating and demoralizing to feel as if I am not making meaningful progress in my language studies.
Previously, I had always enjoyed learning French and had felt motivated to continue improving my language skills. However, my experience with this program has soured my attitude towards learning the language. Not only does it feel like a waste of time, but it is actively discouraging me from progressing further.
One of the main issues I have with this course is the listening aspect. The speakers often speak too quickly, making it challenging to comprehend and understand the intended message. Often, I found myself only getting small chunks of the conversation and struggling to piece it all together.
Moreover, I have found it infuriating to lose points based on grammar corrections that have nothing to do with the curriculum we are supposed to be covering. This seems a disservice to the students and has contributed to my poor experience using VHL.
In conclusion, I strongly advise students who are considering enrolling in an online language course to steer clear of VHL. If your goal is to learn and develop your language skills, VHL will only hinder your progress and potentially demotivate you. Personally, I feel so frustrated and disappointed with my experience that I wish I could give this program zero stars.
Vista Higher Learning: A Disappointing and Gaslighting Educational Tool
Vista Higher Learning (vhlcentral.com) is a program that has received some harsh criticism from its users. One person went as far as to say that it is "absolutely the WORST program" they have ever used for education. This statement in itself is incredibly concerning and highlights the issues that many people have faced when using this program.
The reviewer goes on to say that the program actually causes users to feel gaslit, which is an upsetting claim to make about an educational tool. It is distressing to hear that this program has caused someone to cry while trying to learn something new. The reviewer also suggests that the program expects users to already have a basic understanding of Spanish, which is not helpful for those who are trying to learn from scratch.
Another major issue with this program, according to the reviewer, is the lack of context for the questions. This makes it difficult for users to understand what is being asked of them, and it seems as though the program expects users to magically know the context. Furthermore, the program has a design flaw that marks correct answers as wrong, causing users to waste valuable attempts.
Overall, this review paints a picture of a program that is poorly designed and lacking in many areas that are crucial for successful learning. It is evident that this program has caused frustration and disappointment for many users, and it is important for educational tools to be effective and user-friendly.
Frustration and Confusion: A Review of Vista Higher Learning's vhlcentral.com Language Learning Platform
The experience with Vista Higher Learning, specifically vhlcentral.com, has left much to be desired. Unfortunately, some of the assignments have proven to be extremely confusing, causing entire classes to fail. One major issue is the lack of specificity in the instructions given, such as gender and number of people, which are crucial elements for language learning. Even fluent speakers have struggled with this platform, causing much frustration.
In addition to the difficulty with assignments, the videos on the site are also a strong source of irritation. They are painful to watch, and buffering only amplifies the frustration. The textbook is no better. It is highly recommended that one be prepared to spend a lot of time utilizing external resources, as the grammar explanations are not thorough enough to stand on their own.
Furthermore, the investment in this program is a total waste of money. At a price of $200 for a book and access code that is useless, there is no value to be had. It is also significant to note that this program does not allow users to go back and retry last semester's lessons, which is a serious drawback.
The experience with Vista Higher Learning has caused many to question their decision to continue learning a new language. In fact, for some, it was enough to deter them from continuing their studies for several years, until they found an alternative school that did not use this program. All in all, it is a frustrating and aggravating experience that can cause hair-pulling levels of stress.
Review of vhlcentral.com: A Helpful but Demanding Tool for Language Learning
As a student who uses vhlcentral.com for my Spanish course, I must admit that I have experienced some challenges with this website. While it does help me to improve my language skills and enhances my overall learning process, the site can be somewhat difficult to navigate and at times can be overly demanding in its approach.
One of my main concerns with this website is how picky it can be with regards to the answers it accepts. There have been instances where I have provided what I believed to be the correct response, yet it still marked my answer as incorrect. As a result, this has caused me to become irritated and frustrated with the site, detracting from the learning experience.
Furthermore, I have found that the site can be too impatient with users who require additional time to complete research or other activities. It does not take long for the site to log users out if they are inactive for an extended period, which can be very frustrating.
Additionally, some of the instructions provided on the website are not always clear and concise, and I have found it to be overly precise with its expectations. The site expects students to provide answers in a particular format, which can be very frustrating and distracts from the learning process.
Despite these issues, vhlcentral.com is still a helpful tool that enhances the learning process. Students can benefit from the various resources and materials that the site provides, which include video tutorials, audio recordings, and interactive activities. Overall, while I would advise users to approach the site with some caution, I still believe that it can be an effective learning instrument if approached with an understanding that it has limitations.
