I have been at UNISA for almost a year now and I must say that it has been the most frustrating anger-inducing experience I have had. Below are just a handful of frustrations: 1. The websites are badly designed, hard to use and confusing to navigate. Nothing is clear or direct and it feels more like maze. 2. I had one and only one good lecturer who wa...

University of South Africa [UNISA] Completing

How long does one actually have to wait to get a complete letter. I did my last exam in February until this day I have not received a letter of completion or any communication I have been to the Campus 3 times already, people in other institutions who passed their last last module the same time as me have graduated. I want to further my studies, I can’t even do that unless it’s at Unisa. I want to register for CIMA I can’t even do that without this documents from Unisa. I am so fed up

University of South Africa [UNISA] Unfair marking and missing assignments

Good day sir

I am writing this email with a heavy heart that I am loosing hope in studying with Unisa due to the unfair treatment I have been receiving. I have suicidal thoughts each day, I feel like my future is shuttered

I have written ECS3701 module for more than 5 years now and I cannot graduate due to it. In 2022 December I was told that I was 1% shot to pass the exam, I was granted a supp because my second assignment could not be found on the system. I had tried to contact the senior lecturer on the matter with screen shots on when I wrote and scanned the assignment on my CamScanner. It did not go well that she responded to me in a rude manner in all the times and made fun of me having depression, then later reported me to her Senior.

I kept on trying to follow up on the matter, in the process I fell so ill. Diagnosed with appendicitis and liver abscess and due to that I had 4 operations. I was admitted from the 20th of December until the 4th of January 2023.

On the 15th of February 2023, I was granted with an FI concession and I did write it whiles in bed whiles sick and I informed them. Today I have received a time table for the very same module to write on the 11th May 2023. I do not know what to do and where to get help. I had requested to be helped on where I am I going wrong or a different approach to the module because I always end up with a supplementary.

I cannot sleep neither eat, I am stuck I need help please.

Regards

Cebile Angel Mhlanga

University of South Africa [UNISA] Awarded Bursary but no payment

I was awarded an R8000 bursary last year for being the top performer in the College of Human Sciences for 2022, to use within 5 years. However after applying for the bursary in January 2023 to pursue my honours degree, and after several emails requesting assistance, I didn't even receive an approval or decline of the bursary. I was simply ignored and had to pay the registration fees on the final day myself. This is my bursary query case no. 23062NX03179.

I am truly disappointed with Unisa in this regard. I have been a student at the University for over 10 years and have obtained 2 degrees with you. To be awarded a bursary and then be simply ignored is utterly disappointing. I have contacted Unisa numerous times via email, telephonically and via social media DMs. Not once have I received a response, except for the automated email responses.

Desired outcome: Please give me the bursary that I was awarded to continue with my studies.

University of South Africa [UNISA] Disciplinary Action because of IRIS Invigilator that did not work.

I've written MAT3706 on 11 October 2022 and came well prepared to the exam and did everything UNISA expected of me.

Unfortunately, UNISA did not came properly prepared and the IRIS Invigilation recordings for online examination did not work as expected and I had to rewrite the exam.

I've rewritten the MAT3706 exam on 23 January 2023 but unfortunately again had IRIS issues.

I've send UNISA clear proof that IRIS is to blame and one lecturer did ask my MAT3706 lecturer to release my result but he did not and now I face disciplinary action for UNISA's mistake.

UNISA also did not react on the proof I've send them which could prevent this from happening to other students.

Desired outcome: The release of my MAT3706 result.

University of South Africa [UNISA] Unfair markings/ assessment

An RCE2601 lecture has unfair treatment towards the marking of our scripts. On 16/11/2022 I got Disciplinary pending on my results while I have worked so hard and tried with my all means to follow the citation rules. I wondered when I figure out that about 50% students encountered the some problem. AS a final year student, who was working to complete my degree, I would like if the matter could be investigated and resolved. Alternatively, UNISA if can give us a second chance to rewrite this module.

Desired outcome: We would like the issue being resolved by giving us our actual results and remove that Disciplinary pending as soon as possible. Alternatively, find out the ways to give us a second chance to rewrite this module.

University of South Africa [UNISA] Human relations department

Good day,

To Whom It May Concern:

I am emailing regarding the study material that I have not received, I have tried to make contact with the university regarding this issue however have had no luck in resolving the matter. I have only received the official prescribed book for introduction to marketing. I have assignments due this week and am unable to prepare as I have not received the study material apart from a portion of the tutorial letters which state that I must refer to the prescribed material. I have looked online on my modules and the only available resources are the tutorial letters. I am currently experiencing high levels of stress due to this issue, and I am hoping you are able to help me in coming up with a solution. I have looked on Unisa’s library and the study material cannot be downloaded and I do not have access to the internet so I need to be able to access the material offline.

I understand that due to registration the delivering of study material may be delayed but the assignments are due this coming week, the study material has been paid for including delivery fees but I have not received anything apart from the above mentioned. There has been no communication from lecturers regarding these issues and it is increasing my stress levels.

Please kindly assist.

Kind regards Hannah ([protected])

Below are the modules that I have not received material for:

- PYC3702

- PYC3703

- CGM3701

- MGG2602

Desired outcome: Distribution of prescribed material and better communication

University of South Africa [UNISA] communication from lecturers

Good day.

student [protected]

i sent in my assignment before the due date,it showed received and the mark for months after but as soon as the lecturer added other written assignments marks it dissapeared. I complained to her and she refused to help. Told me contact IT department but refused to give an email of them. It seems aswell because i complained about her to the dean and others that she marked my exam badly on purpose. The law dean has sent over 20 emails around to try and help me but no one seems to care. This is the second time i am losing a job because of a unisa lecturer.

Desired outcome: find my missing assingment on their system and check my exam for intentional wrongful marking.

University of South Africa [UNISA] Complaint

Good evening!

I was supposed to receive my degree cum laude (this week) with the rest of the 2021 students but was told that I failed the last module (statistically unlikely as I have an average of 84% for the degree). I have sent emails to almost all departments - No one is able to help me find my results.

Not only have I paid for the remark (as I received a mark that is inconsistent compared to my other modules), but I also paid and wrote a supplementary exam. I also paid the fees to re-register.

Now (three months later) I am told that I have to pay the last amount for the module before I am ' financially suspended'.

The cherry on top is that I have to hand Assignment 1 in on Tuesday (tomorrow) but the link stays closed - even after I was promised it would be opened.

I have worked extremely hard to complete 12 modules last year to complete my degree. Now, I cannot even apply for the job I wanted to?!

I am desperate to receive my results! Can anybody help me?

University of South Africa [UNISA] IRM1501 Oct/Nov exam results

I wrote my IRM1501 exam in September 2021 yet I still do not have the exam results. I even went to the campus to enquire, sent the lecturer emails since December 2021. No response! I have paid for this module and wrote the exam but of my results portal I have an "Absent from examination" remark. This is what I would call day light robbery as I did everything that was expected of me as the student but Unisa is not living up to their end of the deal. no one even cares to assist yet they receive my emails. this is so frustrating I am now stuck and my time is wasted from all this waiting.

Desired outcome: May I just have my IRM1501 exam results, that's all. The university has no right to withhold my results and there is no justification for their act.

University of South Africa [UNISA] Outstanding results from 2021 Exams for student [protected]

Student number: [protected]
Name: Waranita Kennedy
Module: HRM3706
Email address: [protected]@mylife.unisa.ac.za

Good afternoon

I wrote performance management (HRM3706) on the 25th October 2021. However there was system issues with submitting exam scripts, which we were give an alternative links to upload. I uploaded my script to the alternative link as instructed which I have proof of submission. Come the 18th December 2021 when results was released, I was marked absent from exams, with which I did follow up with the lecturer that told me that she didn't receive access to the alternative link and that I should contact the exam department. I've followed up with numerous emails that includes the HOD of HR but nothing has been done so far and no feedback has been given as to what is going to happen with my results. This is my last outstanding module to determine if I will graduate or not. This has caused me a great deal of stress as nothing is being done and no feedback has been provided.

I need someone to give me feedback as to what is happening and to have my script located and marked.

University of South Africa [UNISA] No response to urgent exemption application

Student no. [protected] (based in Namibia)

On 4 January 2022, Unisa registrations for 2022 opened. During registration, I realized that one of the modules I need to complete my degree is MAC2602, but I have already completed three other similar modules in the course of my studies - so it would be a waste of money and time to do this module again. There were also two other modules where I could apply for exemption.

I can't submit any applications for exemption on myUnisa, because it says that I have already submitted an application for exemption (see attached screenshot). The history: In January 2021, I submitted an exemption for some modules, which I only got a response to in August 2021
.
MyUnisa says to email [protected]@unisa.ac.za if there are any queries regarding exemption, and therefore on 5th January 2022, I sent an email with an application for exemption to that email address (see attached screenshot).
Afterwards I also sent emails to [protected]@unisa.ac.za and [protected]@unisa.ac.za because I had received no response to the above-mentioned email.

I have tried calling [+[protected]] numerous times in order to request this application for exemption to be attended to so that I can finalize my registration, and all I do is get put on hold - once for more than 30 minutes. I don't have access to the toll-free number because I'm calling from outside South Africa, so I don't even want to know how my telephone bill will look by the end of the month. I have also tried calling the College of Accounting Science to see if they could help, but none of the phone numbers I tried were answered.

I have tried using the LiveChat on myUnisa, and when I eventually managed to chat with an operator they said I should the application for exemption on myUnisa - which I currently can't do. When I told the person that, the chat was ended, with no solution for me.

I have tried sending a DM on Facebook with no response. I tried commenting on a Facebook post with no response.

I am desperate to finish my degree with Unisa, but I can't do it without these exemptions being processed.
*Registration closes on 24 January 2022*

Desired outcome: Please process my application for exemption so that I can complete my registration and finish my degree this year!

University of South Africa [UNISA] Given adapted Post Grad exam paper for undergraduate students

Accounting Science students have been given post grad papers for all modules except for tax3761. This is so unfair coz not everyone is going for CA.

Desired outcome: Test us on what is covered on the study material based on tge question structure the lecturers are teaching. Same way TAX3761 lectures did. Simple. Don't teach us 3rd year standard and test us on post grad
