Scam product and customer service
Let me tell you something if they come knocking on your door Please avoid them. They are a scam company they have you sign up for equipment that doesn’t even work always sending false alarms. We signed a contract for equipment that we don’t even have. The garage opener that wasn’t even installed. Every time we call and ask about it, they hang up in our face. So we’re paying for something that we don’t even have. The security system is garbage stick with ADT don’t deal with this company. They try to charge you for a faulty system that they refused to fix. Asking for $50 to come out and fix their issue. We’re stuck in a five-year contract $4000 worth of garbage. They have been telling lies since day one and it’s not fair. They Con my family into a security system that we can’t even benefit from. If something was to happen in real life, the police will never show up because we keep having false alarms, and it’s costing us money. We’re in a new subdivision and I’ll be sure to tell everyone who transferred from ADT to Vivint they we have been scammed.
Desired outcome: To Shut this company down and to get out of this contract and receive every time we put into this scam company
Billing and their service people not understanding
I had Vivint for 6 years and never complaint. I moved and paid-up front for all equipment and service $2598 on March 2 2023. Vivint then tried to bill me for so called 5 month installments. When you explain to the service people, they don't listen. I don't owe on equipment at all. Then i was robbed so we had Vivint come and install another camera and the recording system for $798 paid in full on 6/26/
Next, they Vivint billed me $166 for Equipment which I didn't owe back to the 5 months plan they stated. I am not on a 5-month plan i paid in full for everything. Which we paid in full.
Then i received a email stating I was approved for a credit - CRE - 6492261which never happened on 6/24 and received another email stating credit approved which again never received CRE - 6509371on 7/1/23
I then get another bill for $155 stating now it for the move, A move specialist name Sally was supposed to call me back on 7/24 that didn't happen.
Today i emailed again and tomorrow with be calling again,
We are on social Security fixed income and countless calls and emails trying to fix this. Please help in this matter.
Desired outcome: to get the credit of $166 and of the $155 - $52 is the bill the rest should be be credited back. $103
Outdoor camera
On Nov 2022 I had a Vivint System installed with 5 outdoor cameras. In March of 2023 one of the cameras stopped working. On June 13th a Vivint tech came and replaced the camera and found that it had filled with water due to improper installation. However he said he had to charge $538 for the replacement. On June 15 I spoke with someone from the Vivint Customer loyalty department and they agreed to credit the cost of the camera replacement to my Vivint account to be applied against future billings with 24-48 hours. Shortly thereafter I saw the credit appear in my account. However on my next billing cycle I was charged for my monthly service and noticed that the credit had completely disappeared. Since then I have made several calls explaining the situation and even been assigned a case number, CA-[protected]. However the situation is still not resolved and now no one will reply to me.
Desired outcome: I would like the credit of $538 to applied to my account as promised.
Alarm panel not being replaced as I was told.
July 8th 8:30pm. Panel saying things are wrong with my panel. I called Vivint. Waited, waited. Finally a CS rep answers, tell her the problem. She has me unplug my panel from the outlet. She has me take off the panel cover. She has me take out the battery. She is going to check the panel from her end. This goes on for some time. She says, I need to have the panel replaced. I asked her what the cost would be. Nothing for me, she says. I told her, I would have my son call on the 9th. The CS rep has my son do the same things that I did the night before. Then on hold while the system is being checked. Can't fix. Tell my son I need new panel. I take the phone and ask her how much will this cost me, cause I am a recent widow and live on a fixed income. She says, the cost to me is nothing. I have had the panel since 2016. Someone will call to schedule an appointment. A week later, get a call and a technician will come out on the 19th between 8 am and 12 noon. Technician calls me about 9 am. Says, wants to check with me cause he lives 2 hours away from me. What was he supposed to do at my house. I said replace panel. He said, no he was supposed to repair the panel. So he send me a link to call Vivint to verify what was to be done. I call Vivint, speak with Louis, as we are talking, Louis says, the technician just canceled the appointment! Louis transferes me to Emily in Escalations and she said I could pay $500 for a new panel and they could break it into 5 easy monthly payments. So now instead of $45 a month, I would pay $150 a month for 5 months. I said, not I cant afford that and that was not what the CS representatives told me. Then Emily said, I could pay and extra $10 a month to guarantee a technician would could out and repair my equipment. NONE OF THE WAS EVER BROUGHT UP BEFORE. So in order to get someone out to my house to repair something that I am paying to have service for, I get charged more. I have had Vivint for 17 years. I have a monthly contract with them until August 2025. That will be the end of my relationship with Vivint. I currently have Vivint insurance for my home and autos. That will go away as soon as I have a reply from Vivint.
Desired outcome: Panel replaced. I want a technician to show up. I want my Vivint account credited back for the month that I will be without an alarm system.
VIVINT home security system
Purchased this system less than 3 weeks ago. For the last week, there has been no notification or messages sent to my phone alerting me when someone comes in the vicinity of my three cameras. I called to complain and was told that others are having this same issue. I had a ring system and FrontPoint system but was sold on the VIVINT system due to advanced cameras and installation (I am 76 years old and could not find someone to install other cameras.) This is expensive, and it has failed to do what it promised. Oh, I can go to the control panel and look at the cameras; however, I cannot spend all day and night watching to see if anyone come on my property. I have not been offered any rebate or options to fix this problem. I was told that they are working to resolve tghis issue, but it continues. What good is this? VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Time to go back to my Ring and FrontPoint.
The price.
On June 3rd, at 12:15p.m my technician came out to install my new vivint panel. The alarm system is good. But the only thing I was concerned about was the price. My technician didn't tell me the price it was going to be for a new vivint panel. They took my old vivint panel down to replace the new one. I was a little upset that they didn't tell me the price it was going to be. The price came up debt out of my checking account $580.48. on June 21th. I didn't know the price was going to be that high to install a new vivint panel. To provide better service for next time, it would be nice if the technician would tell me the price ahead of time that way I would have been more prepared for it.
Desired outcome: I would like an apology for not telling me the price it was going to be. That way I could have been more prepared for it.
To have them take out their crap and restore my door bell, restore my house thermostate and stop billing me.
This company is horrible. Equipment does not work. Videos are not of the equipment I have. Chat with customer service but keep getting cut off. Asked for them to send help but they won't. I am 73 years old and on oxygen. Have worked 3 hours trying to get things to work, now I am so anxious I cannot breathe. The equipment has been a problem from the beginning and I can hardly wait to have this disconnected and get rid of this company. I had to spend $200 to buy a camera to be able to hear the doorbell. Well, they did not tell me that they are going to charge me an additional $5/month to monitor the camera. Called 5-6 times with no resolution. My home worked just fine until they came in and messed up everything and is making me pay for their mistakes. Now the thermostat does not work. They remove my manual thermostat and replaced it with their stuff, now it does not work.
Viviant takes advantage of seniors. At times they are selling their products to seniors who on a fixed income and are living at or below the poverty line. They do this by high pressure sales. They canvass neighborhoods after there has been a break in and scare seniors into a sale. These tactics are morally wrong and they are unethical. Attempts to get them to reconcile have been unsuccessful.

Vivint Review: Terrible Product and Service, Locked into Impossible Contracts
Honestly, it's hard to say which is worse, as they are both so bad. The product is a complete disaster. The glass break sensors will cause false alarms almost every time you activate the alarm, so you basically can't use them. Other motion and door sensors repeatedly "lose connection with panel," so they don't work large portions of the time as well. It's like they don't even care about the quality of their products. We've basically stopped using our system because nothing actually works.
The service is just as bad. When an alarm does go off, we assume it's a false alarm (which, already, is like what's the point of this?). When we do get that call from Vivint Monitoring, there is ZERO urgency, and they'll slowly ask "do you want us to send the authorities?" Despite having at least a half-dozen of these calls, when I report false alarms to Vivint as reason for refund, they tell me there is "no record" of these interactions with Vivint Monitoring. It's like they don't even care about their customers.
Oh, and by the way, they lock you into 5-year contracts that are virtually impossible to cancel. I'm more than 1/4 through my contract, yet was told I'd have to pay over $2,000 to get out of my Vivint agreement. It's like they don't even care about their customers' needs.
This is the first time I've ever written a review for any company. I'm 39 years old and have never felt compelled to write a review for anything ever in my life, positive or negative, but my experience with Vivint has been THAT bad. If you are reading this, I IMPLORE you to take your business to a more reputable company. Don't waste your time and money on Vivint.
Vivint Review: Tricked into Buying Equipment, Impossible to Cancel Service, and Charged After Moving Out
So, let me tell you about my experience with Vivint. A guy came to my house in May 2019 and started talking about some fancy equipment and how it was better to buy it than sign a contract. I was sold on the idea and got the equipment installed. But after a year, the prices went up and I wanted to cancel the monitoring service. However, they told me I couldn't just pay for the equipment and cancel the service. I had to pay the whole amount owed for the equipment to cancel. So, I had to keep the service.
Fast forward to December 1, 2022, when I moved out of the house and sold it in late November. I called Vivint to pay my final bill for the equipment and settle my account. I thought everything was done and dusted, but when I checked my account in early January 2023, I saw another charge. I called Vivint and was told that they only had a record of my December call requesting a transfer of service to my new address. But I already had an account with ADT at the new address since September. I told the Vivint rep that I wanted to cancel again, but he told me that I owed the remainder of a 5-year monitoring agreement that would end in May 2024. I was shocked because I never signed any such contract. Why would I sign a contract and purchase equipment? It made no sense to me.
I told the rep that I needed an email address to send a formal request for cancellation. He put me on hold for ten minutes and then hung up on me. I couldn't believe it. These guys are crooks. They tricked me into buying their equipment and then made it impossible for me to cancel the service. And when I finally thought I had settled everything, they charged me again and refused to cancel the service. I would never recommend Vivint to anyone. Stay away from them!
Beware of Vivint's Sketchy Sales Tactics: A Review
So, this guy from Vivint came to my house and he was pretty cool. He talked a lot about how great their alarm system was and I was like, "Yeah, sure, why not?" But then things started to get a little weird. He didn't even ask me when I was available for installation, he just told the technicians to come over and start working. And let me tell you, it took them four whole hours to install everything. I mean, I had stuff to do, you know?
Anyway, the salesman told me that I was approved for a $4000 credit and that the equipment would cost me $3100. But then, when it came time to pay, there were all these extra fees and taxes that he didn't mention before. And wouldn't you know it, they added up to exactly $4000. What a coincidence, right?
So then the technicians started tearing down my old security system, even though I told them not to because I was still paid up for the year. And they didn't even have any wireless cameras or equipment, which I thought was pretty lame. Before I knew it, there were holes drilled all over my house and cords running everywhere. It was a mess.
And then there's the motion sensor. It doesn't even pick up cars driving into my yard, but it goes off every 15 minutes when it's raining outside. What's up with that? My Ring System is way better. It picks up everything I need it to and nothing I don't.
Oh, and get this: you can't even buy additional equipment and install it yourself. You have to make an appointment with their service people every time. What a pain.
And to top it all off, the salesman straight up lied to me. He said I had 30 days to cancel the service, but when I read the contract, it said I only had 3 days. That's some shady business right there.
So yeah, be careful with Vivint. Their sales tactics are pretty sketchy.
Avoid Vivint: Expensive, Unreliable, and Traps You in a 5-Year Contract
So, let me tell you about my experience with Vivint. First off, you're locked into a 5-year contract no matter what, even if you buy all your own equipment. And let me tell you, their system is expensive and doesn't do anything that a Ring camera system can't do. But that's not even the worst part.
Half the time, the system doesn't even work when I need it to. And when I call for help, they always blame it on my internet. And if you do end up buying equipment from them, you'll have to pay at least $150 for them to come and install it.
But that's not even the worst part. Their billing department double charged me for 3 months and kept harassing me with calls twice a day, telling me I had to pay. And when their install guy came to install my Google Nest, he didn't even hook up the conduct and my heat stopped working in the dead of winter. Did they care or offer to pay for the $85 service call from the heating repair place? No, they didn't care at all.
And when I called to complain and tell them how unsatisfied I was, they didn't care either. They have a whole "cancellation department" that you have to spend at least an hour on the phone with just to be told that you have to buy out your 5-year contract to cancel. And they record you agreeing to everything in the beginning just so they can trap you in their horrible company.
I've even seen this system in the worst neighborhoods where people can't even afford their food, but they're stuck with Vivint because they're trapped in their contract. So, take my warning and don't buy Vivint. It's not the best out there, and you'll regret it if you do.
Vivint Alarm System Review: Lagging Cameras, Quiet Sirens, and False Alarms
This alarm system is the worst I've ever had! The alarm siren is so quiet that I can barely hear it. The door sensors are also super quiet, and I can hardly tell if someone has opened the door. The cameras are always lagging, and it takes forever for them to load. They also always detect bugs, which is pointless because my phone keeps going off all night for movement detection.
One time, my car got hit outside my house at the end of my driveway, but the cameras didn't catch anything at all! Even though my view limit is to the street, it still didn't catch the accident. It won't detect a person until they're already ringing my doorbell, which is a huge problem if it's a burglar. The glass breaker goes off for any noise, even when my kids are running around playing. One time, a ball broke my window and shattered it while I was out of town. The notification said "glass break," but I couldn't check the cameras to see what happened because they never loaded. Plus, it took Vivint roughly 7 minutes to call me!
I thought it was my internet, so I called and upgraded my internet speed and upgraded my phone. I thought since I have an old phone, the 5G was not good on the old phone. None of that helped at all. The Vivint cameras still lag and never want to load.
When the salesman came to my house, he said there were no early cancellation fees and no contract. He said I just had to pay it every month, or it would cancel like a prepaid phone. That's a lie! They are charging me almost $1,600 to cancel after 8 months of being with them. Every question I asked the representative, he would put me on hold to ask a supervisor. It was so frustrating!
Vivint Security System Review: A Complete Disaster with Terrible Customer Service
This system is a complete disaster. I've had it installed for two weeks and it has only worked properly for four days. The rest of the time it has been down and not recording. When I called customer support to try and fix it, they said they didn't know why it wasn't working. They suggested upgrading the software, but then found out it had already been upgraded a week ago. When the system went down the first time, I was extremely frustrated. This company is a total rip off and their customer service is terrible. I've had problems from day one and I'm still having problems. The installation took over 8 hours to complete, even though Vivint said it would only take 1 hour and 45 minutes. It never should have taken that long.
I feel like I've been scammed by this company. They want to charge me for more upgrades and equipment sales, but none of it works. The door and window chimes stopped working, the cameras stopped working, and the monitor panel stopped working. And they have the nerve to overcharge me $3500.00 for a terrible security system that sells for $599.00 on the internet. I'm really, really angry after this purchase. My home is still unsecured and I don't know what to do.
Overall, I would give Vivint a rating of less than zero. Their system is a complete disaster and their customer service is terrible. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Disappointing Experience with Vivint: Poor Customer Service and Faulty Equipment
I recently signed up for Vivint and unfortunately, my experience has been less than satisfactory. I was promised that if I wasn't happy with the service, they would come and remove all the equipment unless I wanted to purchase it. However, on the very first night, the back door monitor stopped working. The next day, I noticed that the cameras were taking far too long to connect. And on the third day, the panel stopped working altogether.
I immediately called customer service on Friday evening, which was the third day of my service, but they were already closed. I tried calling over the weekend, but they were still closed. Finally, on Monday morning, I was able to get through to someone, but to my dismay, I was told that they wouldn't take the equipment back because I was past the three-day return policy. The representative told me that since I was under contract, I was stuck with the equipment and that I should just keep getting it fixed. I even tried to prove that I had called earlier, but the manager, Javi Gutierrez, didn't seem to care.
I was extremely frustrated with the way I was treated. Is this how Vivint does business? I will make sure that everyone in my neighborhood knows not to let their guys in the house. I will be putting up flyers today with my story. The price of the equipment is way too high, but I thought I'd give it a try since I assumed it would be better than just buying cameras online and piecing everything together myself. However, it turns out that it's not worth it. I will be texting everyone I know and posting this everywhere I can.
To make matters worse, there was a prowler in my neighborhood this weekend, banging on everyone's doors. My system was useless for my family's safety. It could have been so simple to take the equipment back since I've been calling, but instead, Javi told me that I would have to pay $1600 today for this non-working equipment, and then they would come and get it. Really? This is unacceptable.
Overall, I am extremely disappointed with Vivint's service and customer support. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Vivint Review: Terrible Customer Service, Hidden Fees, and Broken Promises
My experience with Vivint was the absolute WORST. I have never dealt with such terrible customer service in my entire adult life. It takes FOREVER to get through to someone on the phone, and when you finally do, they just try to sell you more stuff instead of actually helping you. They claim to make notes in their system, but the next person you talk to has no idea what you're talking about. And don't even get me started on how many times they put me on hold and transferred me to someone else who couldn't do anything.
To make matters worse, they straight up LIED to me about the cost of upgrading my system. They said it wouldn't cost me anything and even offered to add more cameras and lower my monthly bill. But when I tried to cancel the service two years later when I moved to a new house, they demanded an extra $749. And even after I paid that, they still charged my card without permission over a month later. When I called to complain, they claimed that my account had never been cancelled and blamed it on a computer error.
I had to call them THREE more times just to get everything settled. By the end of it, I had spent over 5 hours on the phone and received three confirmation emails in a month. It was a complete nightmare.
I was also promised $75 for a referral, but they never paid me for that either. It's just one thing after another with this company. I can't even put into words how angry and frustrated I am with them. I would never recommend Vivint to anyone.
Vivint Security Review: Nightmare Customer Service and Equipment Issues
I gotta say, Vivint is not the best security company out there. My hubby and I had their service for like 2 years and it was just okay, nothing to write home about. It did what it was supposed to do, I guess. But we had some issues with the glass break alarm going off for no reason, like when someone slammed the door or dropped a cup in the kitchen. And the outdoor camera was spotty, missing some movement in our backyard. We thought about canceling a few times, but dealing with customer service was such a pain that we just kept it.
Then we moved and it was a total nightmare. They said they could transfer our equipment, but it was gonna cost us an arm and a leg. We tried to transfer services, but the technician never showed up and rescheduling was a joke. So we decided to cancel. Easy peasy, right? WRONG! It was the worst process ever. I called and they said we had to pay the remaining balance, which was thousands of dollars. So we paid it and thought we were done with Vivint. But 6 months later, we got a call from a collections company saying we owed over $600 for not canceling our account properly.
I had to jump through so many hoops, talking to person after person, just to get them to listen to me. And after all that, they said I didn't cancel with written notice, so they couldn't accept it. But they had no problem taking my money verbally! It's just not right.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend Vivint to anyone. Their customer service is terrible and the whole experience was a nightmare. Save yourself the trouble and find another security company. This one ain't it.
Vivint Home Security Equipment Review: Garbage Quality and Terrible Customer Service
Vivint equipment is straight up garbage. The door sensors fell off the door right after they were put in, and then some of them just stopped working altogether. Vivint sent new sensors, but they don't tell you that you can't just plug them in and go. You gotta call tech support and spend an hour on the phone with them to get the system to accept the new equipment. And they act like it's your fault that it didn't work right the first time. We still got a door that's offline because I don't feel like spending an hour on the phone with tech support.
The cameras go offline all the time for no reason, and none of the "solutions" they give you do anything. You just gotta wait for the cameras to come back online on their own. The door sensors say the door is open when it's closed all the time. The smart lock says it's unlocked when it's locked, and sometimes it won't lock at all. I've spent 5 minutes trying to get the stupid thing to lock before, and I had to go lock it manually and go out a different door just to be sure.
Our smart drive stopped working 6 months ago, and none of the "solutions" worked for that either. So you gotta call tech support again and spend hours on the phone with someone on a different continent with a bad connection. And they won't take the equipment back, so you're stuck with it. And you can't get out of the monitoring service either.
Don't waste your money on Vivint. They're terrible. If you wanna throw away $4000, just burn it instead of giving it to Vivint.
Vivant
We have had the service on two different locations for the past three years. It’s extremely hard to get an update on our cameras, some of the equipment does not work right. It was very expensive and we expected more out of this. Than we are receiving. It’s extremely hard to get an update on our cameras, some of the equipment does not work right.
Desired outcome: I would like to have someone come out and service our cameras, offer us the newest equipment without being charged given. The fact that we paid $2400-$3000 for each home to have their service.
Equipment Failure
Doorbell will sound underwater or skip at times. Camera went "offline" one night late when our doorbell was rung and we could not see anything from the panel. Alarm went off one night with the tiniest of noises yet one day our cat knocked a bowl off the counter resulting in a huge crash and the alarm did not go off. One night during "armed stay" the kitchen glass break went off but 30 seconds later the loud alarm did NOT go off. We were texted, called, emailed saying authorities had been dispatched yet no one ever showed up. Calling to try and report these matters is no help whatsoever because the phone number will either tell you there is a 45 minute or longer wait or else you will get a message saying the voice mail box is full and not accepting calls. Sales people continue to come out and try to sell us on Vivint even though we have a sign at the front door that Vivint gave us, and when we tell them our complaints, they say they will put in an order for a technician and no one ever calls or comes out. One night we had someone ring the door bell and it was late so we checked the panel to see who it was and the camera was offline and it did not record them ringing the doorbell. Our internet was working so it could not have been that. Very unhappy with the service and lack of support.
Desired outcome: I believe Vivint has breeched the contract therefore I want to get out of this contract without any fees or penalties. I want the equipment removed so we can go to a different more reputable security service.
Alarm system
03-2023, I had renovations done in my home. Carbon detector went off, Vivint contacted me, and I informed them I was having work done. Hours later, a fire truck pulled up, and they saw what was happening, I thought it was resolved. I just received a letter from my local county, requesting $170.00 for false alarm. Vivint says I'm suppose to have contacted the county and let them know I had an alarm system. How was I suppose to know this, I have never had a security system before! I don't like the response that I have been receiving from Vivint employees that I have spoken with! I want to cancel this once and for all. Your employees need to listen to customers instead of talking over them, and try to help them to solve an issue instead of putting them off. I need to speak with someone who can help me solve this issue.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response to my concerns, and the $170.00 bill paid.Train your employees to listen to customers!!
