I bought 2 x R400 gift vouchers on behalf of myself and my daughter for my sister at Woolworths Kolonnade on 11 January 2024. I made one payment for R800 but wanted two separate vouchers. When my sister wanted to use the vouchers on Friday 23 January 2024, the cashier informed her that the one card is not valid. The receipt and the card number did not correspond. I insisted on seeing the camera recordings of the day I bought the vouchers but was informed its only kept for 7 days. How the hell! who uses vouchers within 7 days. I received both envelopes with the gift cards from the cashier when I bought it on 11 January 2024 and handed it to my sister without opening it. When my sister called me on 23 Feb when she was having trouble using the vouchers, they did not want to accept me speaking to them on the phone and said I had to come in personally. I had to drive all the way to Kolonnade. I was helped by Florence who called the "manager" Kabu. She was very rude and spoke in an African language with her colleagues and when I am asking questions in English she will either ignore me or answer only afterwards. After about an hour, she said she is going to cancel that gift card so ensure that nobody uses it and will lodge an investigation to see whether the card was used and will phone me back on Monday 26 Jan. Nobody phoned me and I had to follow up constantly. I phoned again today at 11:39. I spoke to Florence and she said she will call the manager Itu. I was kept on the phone for 17minutes before Itu spoke to me. When I was referring to last week Friday, Itu told me she was not on duty and that Kabo was not a manager, but when I asked to speak to a manager on Friday 23 Feb, the lady told me she is the manager. Itu told me that she will follow up with Head Office and when I asked her for the email address or phone number of the investigating dept at Woolworths head office, she said they do not speak to the dept and can only email. She said I can only lodge a complaint online. I am furious that a loyal customer of Woolworths is treated this way. I am furious that the issue was not resolved in the time frame I was promised, I am furious and embarrassed because my sister wants to buy clothing for a special event and could not do so with the vouchers we gave her. I am furious that your staff do not know how to treat customers. I am furious because I have to write this complaint and is the one who has to constantly follow up. Why was I not treated fairly? I am disgusted with Woolworths and will post on every social media platform and hello Peter until someone takes the time to solve this complaint.
