I leased a home from McConnell crossing, where they insured me of regular pest control and a safe community as I stressed I had a young autistic child and another child under the age of 1. I moved in 3 days after signing my lease and paying the rent/ and security deposit. I was at the home for about 3 hours after moving in, I had settled in enough to finally cook my children’s dinner. I set my child’s food on the kitchen counter so I could calm him down during one of his meltdowns, it took me about 10 minutes. When I came back to get my child’s food to feed him, there was a living roach on his food. I then started to inspect the home a little bit closer and there was living bugs on my things, along with dead bugs in the corners of the home. I promptly sent a email demanding to be let out of that lease and to be given my refund. They at first denied me a refund and would not allow me out of the lease. They told me they would send pest control out that same day. I waited on pest control to show up. when he did arrive he informed me that a couple of weeks prior he was there to treat that home, he pulled out the refrigerator where he said at least 40 roaches had ran out of when he was last there. The pest control man confirmed there were still living roaches in the home and it was most certainly a infestation. They finally agreed to let me out of the lease with a lot of persistence on my end, because my children could not reside in a infested home. They then told me that Wednesday I had until Friday to move my things out and turn in the key. So I did just that I spent the next two days finding somewhere to move and moving everything I owned out. They told me on December 12th that my full refund of $2300 would be processed that day and I would receive a letter confirming the breakdown of what I would be receiving. They also stated it would take 30 days for me to receive my refund. I never received the letter, so I reached out at to the community manager at McConnell crossing, she told me I would not be receiving a letter and that the leasing agent must have been mistaken when he told me I would receive a letter, but my refund would still come within 30 days, it’s been well over 30 days at this point. It is now January 19th, 2024 and I have not received my refund. I have called and spoken to McConnell crossings office manager multiple times. She keeps saying she will reach out to someone above her to find out where my refund is. And everytime I speak to her no one has reached back out to her. She then proceeded to tell me it could take up to 60 days for my refund to come, which was new news to me considering that hadn’t been mentioned prior to me complaining over and over after the 30 day mark. I finally asked for the number to someone above her. She provided me with the regional managers phone number, which I’ve called and left 3 voicemails to over the past 2 weeks, that regional manager has not contacted me back about my refund. I cannot get in touch with anyone about my $2300. I spent every dollar I had to get out of that infested home they rented to me dishonestly. I am beyond infuriated. Not to mention that office manager yelled at me in front of my 2 very young children while the pest control was at that home inspecting it because I demanded to be let out of that lease, mind you my 2 year old is autistic and cannot handle loud noises, I had to threaten to call a lawyer and the cops to be let out of that lease. She told to me she didn’t care and to call them. Overall I am not pleased with McConnell crossing or with the communication that I have not received from the regional manager. I am now renting a home in a different yes communities location because it was the quickest place I could find within the few days I had to move all of my belongings from McConnell crossing. the office management at oakwood forest has been nothing less then amazing to me and my children. I would like my refund back as soon as possible, the inconvenience this has caused my family has been absolutely horrendous.
