Power steering pump warranty dispute
Had a power steering pump replaced without issue, was told it may smoke for a while due to spilt fluid. Fast forward a few months the smoke got worse. I had to get some brake work done at the dealership so I asked them to see what the smoke was. I was told the power steering pump was leaking so bad it was spewing fluid all over the engine.
Contacted YouMechanic support and was immediately given the run-around. I provided them with video proof and the contact information of the dealership shop manager. They refused to contact him and apparently dismissed the video. Each time I talked with them they where rude and arrogant.
The dealership said they would not recommended driving the car and offered to tow it back to my house. I said hold off because I wanted to see what the warranty people said.
I talked to YourMechanic again and they said they would refund the cost of the job once they verified the pump was bad, if I had the dealer repair it I just had to keep it and they would pick it up. Then later on another call they said they would only cover the cost of the pump because having the dealership diagnose the issue voided my warranty.
It appears YourMechanic will do everything they can to avoid accountability regarding warranty claims.
My overall experience was horrible and I vowed to never again have a mechanic from this company touch my car ever again. In the end I had to have the dealership repair my power steering pump.
I'm honestly so pissed off by this horrible companies antics if I can't this resolved from this website or BBB I may consult an attorney.
Desired outcome: Full compensation for the repair cost from the dealership totaling $1087.52
crooked: charged for service not completed
Hired these clowns to replace a power window regulator assembly. From moment "new" or "correct" part installed, window would only roll up once. Only way to get it to roll up again after being rolled down was to disconnect and reconnect battery. Mechanic who replaced it blamed it on electronics even though the electronics were fine before he touched the car. Said YourMechanic.com would call me the next day to schedule a computer tech to come out. Two or three days later I got the call. Appointment was set then later rescheduled by the mechanic. Ended up being a week later, but the jerks at YourMechanic.com still hit credit card in the meantime! Computer tech's "fix" was a computer override that failed the very next day! Attempted to call. Couldn't get through due to ridiculously long hold times (even by today's "standards"). Then requested support electronically. Received case number via email. That was 3 months ago, and this was the last I heard from them! Meanwhile, put several thousand miles on a different, low-mileage car I didn't intend to. Finally got sick of waiting and had the part replaced today at a local shop. It worked immediately! No "computer issues." These people are a joke.
Junk service. Junk support. Junk warranty. Junk company! Run away like you're running from a virus!
car repairs
I have call mechanic from this site your mechanic.com and got an appoitment at 8pm for replace a thermostats housing. After over one hour, the mechanic tell me the new part has defected and he can not fix. I saw his job all the time and found that he don't known how to install all screws. He required me pay 60$ but he not finished this job and my coolant still through out from the housing thermostat, also he make the new part damaged so I can not return to store with price $ 143.56.
I pay him $60 at 10 pm in front of Chase bank at North first street, San jose, CA about 10pm.
Next early, I call mechanic from another store to fix and he complete this job just $45 in 45 minutes, and he can not find any defects in the same part that used last night.
Conclusion: some mechanic in yourmechanic.com is not too much exprienced and just want to get your money. So be carefull take look when they fix your car and pay only when your car has fixed the problems. Either, you will loss your money and waste your time with them.
overcharged for service and no refund
I
Appointment #2130151 March 6, 2018 $149.74
I had an appointment on Tuesday, 3/6/18, #2130151. On the previous Thursday, 3/1/18, when I booked the appt, $368.43, was taken from my account. They require a credit card to book the appt. Since mine is a prepaid, they took the money right away.
On Saturday, an agent called me, he told me they made an error in the price that I was quoted, and already charged. Instead of the 368.43, the price was onlyvgoin to be $149.74. Quite a big difference. The agent told me he was preparing a new quote and initiating a refund to my card ending in 5329. He told me that it would take 2 to 5 day for the 218.69 to post to my account.
My appt came and went. By Thursday, 3/8/18, one full week after they took my money and 5 full days after I spoke with the agent regarding this situation, still nothing posted. I sent an email and created a help request, #185870, to the company. The response I got was less than satisfactory. I was told " it is under review and the my request had been closed"
The next day I then phoned 3/9/18 at approx 10 am. Again being told I was " under review and there was nothing she could do for me". I asked to speak to a manager, I was denied. She said one would call me back within 24 o 48 hours. The run around again.
It has now been over 48 hours, 10 days since they took my money, 8 days since I was told it would be refunded. I have sent an additional 3 to 4 emails. Nothing, no response and no money. I was charged for auto repairs, the amount taken from me was not correct. I did not receive that monetary worth inrepairs or service. Isn't that called fraud? Being ignored and given the run around, while trying to get this resolved, isn't that what scammers do?
I will also be contacting corporate head quarters and registering a complaint there. The owners might be interested to know about this scam. Hopefully they are not involved and this is just a select person or group perpetrating this fraud and stealing money from customers.
This has hurt me financially a great deal. My kids are hungry and I have no money for groceries because they lied and stole it from me. I will talk to the press and register complaints with any state and regulatory official that I can. They shouldn't be allowed to run a business, how many other victims are there? I want my money back, the money they fraudulently obtained from me.
My first and last time
This was my first and last experience using YourMechanic service.
I will give your just one advice: if you want a real service, use other companies. This one is messy and not focused on customers.
I asked them to invite the mechanic to see my car. But unfortunately, he didn't arrive on time. I don't know whatever happened to him, but I wasted my time waiting for him at home. So they rescheduled an appointment. And the mechanic didn't come again...
I am sorry, guys, I saw many of your good reviews. Maybe those people were lucky enough, but I don't understand why other people are treated like me? It's terrible that you let this happen and don't offer alternatives. If I were you I would do anything for my customers. I think your mechanics are even capricious a little and spoiled. You have to get your stuff together.

warranty/scam
yourmechanic.com came to inspect grinding clutch noise and told me my car needed a new clutch but the company didn't provide those services, however, the mechanic said this is normal and his supervisor would authorize him to perform the job at his home. He said their towing company would pick the car up and that same day and have it fixed within a day. The mechanic came the same day and picked up my car and called and told me it was only a clutch plate that needed to be fixed and instead of $800.00 it would be a couple hundred bucks cheaper. The car broke 8 months later with the same problem as before and the mechanic had indicated the parts were brand new from Kia and that yourmechanic.com's warranty was one year. I called the company to get them to fix my car and they told me they could not find a service order for repairs (only the estimate) for $70.00. When explaining to them more, I was told that the mechanic (Kyle) was no longer working for them because he was caught doing side jobs and the warranty is not covered since I did not pay through yourmechanic.com. This is someone that they sent to repair my car and somehow I am responsible for their bad hiring choices. My car is broken down in front of my house and has been for the last 30 days. I am a single working mother and spent over 570 dollars to repair my car that is now broken again.

Unethical cancellation fee
Ordered an appointment on 4/2/2017 and was scheduled for service on 4/4/2017 at 1:15 PM. Called to cancel appointment on 4/3/2017 at 4:09 PM and they confirmed my cancellation, but said they were charging me $20 to cancel. They said you have to cancel your appointment within 3 hours of making the initial appointment.
Who only gives you 3 hours to cancel an appointment? This is not 3 hours before the appointment is going to happen. This is 3 hours after you place your order. That should have been how they needed to word it.
Highly unethical. I would not suggest that anyone use this company.
This was never resolved. It is also a complete lie that Your Mechanic did every thing in their power. They never sent me anything via mail. There was never any registered mail nor certified mail.
Your Mechanic sent me a coupon via email towards my next purchase. Is that Your Mechanics attempt to do everything in their power to resolve this complaint? I would never use Your Mechanic service, so I will never be using a coupon for services
I was never offered a refund for the cancellation fee.

Do yourself a favor and use your local shop or dealership
The mechanic seems very inexperienced. The part I paid for, failed. I'm not sure what the refund policy is, but I'm not holding my breath. I took my truck to the dealership and paid them to fix it and feel alot more comfortable that it's done right. The service seemed cool because of the convenience, but there is no brick and mortar store to go to if something goes wrong. Don't make the same mistake I did. I'm hoping this will save even 1 person the stress of poor service.

Prices
I hired these guys for them to fix my car. When I first contacted YourMechanic they told me how much will it cost.
So they arrived, fixed my car, and when then they said that I need to pay extra $300 because their prices had changed!
No one ever called me and told about that! If I would have known about that earlier I would cancel the appointment! Absolutely unprofessional behavior!

No one showed up
I made an appointment on YourMechanic and on the estimated date no one showed up. When I called to find out what was going on they did not pick up. I finally reached them next morning and all they said was how sorry they were for all the issues they caused. They said that my apportionment was cancelled because they did not have some parts. I decided not to waste my precious time with these guys. They were absolutely unprofessional, and I was really mad.
I waited the whole day for someone to show up and they didn't find time to call me and tell! I guess their mechanics are as lousy as their service.

Company will not replace a new part their mechanic installed but has to destroy
2010 KIA SOUL, needed new wheel bearings. Went online got a quote of $90.00 Mechanic came to the appointment on 6/29/2016 and showed up on time but changed the quote right in front of me to $196.00 for labor. As he began I observed him removing the tire, when he got to checking for a socket fit for the wheel hub bolt, the bolt spun with ease, it was loose. Mechanic informed me this was a result of a clutch replacement 2 weeks before and the reason the wheel bearings went out... none of this in the report even though I was there to witness. Mechanic began to replace the wheel hub assembly with brand new parts.Wheel bearings had to be pressed into the hub so the Mechanic took the part to his home 3 miles away. Mechanic returned with the part and installed on the car.
After repair the wheel was locked up. Mechanic removed the wheel and hub again and checked everything including the brake calipers. Mechanic recommended a new Steering knuckle and scheduled appointment for next day due to a warp, which again he stated came from the result of wheel bearings going bad. Mechanic scheduled the appointment for this morning at 9:00 am. Upon arriving for the new appointment Mechanic informed me that the work done the day before, meaning the already paid for work for unusable wheel assembly, would be destroyed, i.e. the wheel bearings, when replacing the knuckle. Said he had to go back and press it out and there is a 99% chance it will destroy the bearing. (Why was this not disclosed at the scheduling of the new appointment?)
Company will not pay for the new and unused part to be replaced. Company says their warranty does not cover the "pre-existing" condition.. Really, pre as in less than 24 hours ago your mechanic installed brand new parts that as of this day have never been used. Warranty talks of normal usage and failure, not new parts destroyed by mechanic.Company nitpicked about implied warranty over a $38.00 wholesale part.
Company tried to force a decision about the appointment instead of showing concern over the issue. Leading questions like "Who did you take this to to diagnose the issue" or "Are you saying such and such?" No, I am not and I will not play your game to find a reason to not service my need. Sounds like a bait and switch. Lets do the initial work, find a new issue while solving the original, then when it comes to doing the new work, tell the consumer that the work done the day before is going to be destroyed so we can sell him a new part, that will take a day to deliver and allow us to schedule a new appointment and make more money.. Customer Service would say nothing else except asking me " Do you want us to continue or not?" I refused to give an answer till someone with the authority to service the consumer was put on the line. Customer Service are robots with no tools to satisfy you. After the constant badgering for an answer to their question, to no avail I remind you, I disconnected the call and the company dismissed Mechanic and cancelled. The Mechanic waited 4 hours while these unfriendly and profit driven employees spent time discussing who was going to call me back. This is sad as I had used them previously with no issue, but how can you turn replacing a simple emissions valve into a gasket change, you just can't, that is the point.

The tech arrived too late and fixed the car too long
The company www.yourmechanic.com is terrible and they provide slow and inappropriate services. I made the appointment on Monday, 10 a.m. I arrived and the tech hasn’t showed up till 1 p.m. It was nightmare for me, because he told me that the whole work would take 2 hours, but he changed cylinders and within 8 hours. It was so unprofessional and dishonest towards me. Not recommended.
They are never on time and they lie. We've had 4 or 5 bozos' at my house. None of them fixed my son's car. One guy, Joe, promised he'd be here at 1:00pm - he showed up at 5:00pm. Then after 15 min., he said he had 2 more jobs to do, so he left & promised to come back. Never came back! This all started on Monday, 7/6/15, and now today 7/12/15, the car is still sitting here unable to be driven. He determined the part he needed to fix the car was a "block sensor" but when removing the old part, it broke and he said he needed a special tool in order to remove it . That was yesterday morning and he promised us that he would be back in the afternoon as he also had a couple more jobs he had to get to.- another no-show. Our non-mechanic neighbor came over & with the use of 2 needle-nosed pliers, he was able to easily remove this 'hard to remove' piece. After waiting for a week to get this car fixed, we called their main office to possibly find a reputable mechanic that could come out & finish the job & were told the nearest appointment would be Thursday 7/16/15. Every mechanic that showed up would work on it periodically, and then leave saying they had another job to do. What's with that? Once you're at a job, shouldn't you finish it up before going onto the next?
The mechanic twice hasn't came
I made the appointment through the website www.yourmechanic.com. I arrived, but the mechanic didn’t. He even hasn’t called to the company and warned the employer that he would be late. We changed the date of the appointment and the situation repeated again. It was awful and inappropriate for me. I have found another company.
They scam, lie and don't provide services
Not recommended website www.yourmechanic.com. I used their services, but it was only waste of money and time. They took deposit and promised services and repair, but it was lie. They only tipped toed around the subject and told me ### about their services. Stay away from these scammers and post comments about your situation with them. As well as post comments about your things with them, it might be useful for other people.
