ZYNEX SCAM: Deceptive Billing
My podiatrist prescribed a ZYNEX device for me to use after surgery in August 2023. Like a good patient I went ahead and submitted the prescription and used it a few times (I can’t say either way if it helped in my healing or not). The instructions to use were easy enough to understand. However, billing and payment was not! I was never advised exactly how much out of pocket that would be my responsibility. I figured like any other prescription maybe $30. I was wrong….
I would periodically check my insurance billing, and it had several claims “pending” a total of $3697.92. It’s now March 25, 2024, and I just received a bill of $250 from ZYNEX. So, I called them (several times and placed on hold for about 30 min) and advised that I was never made aware of how much I would owe, and now I would like to return the device. The representative advised no problem, but I would be charged a “fee” of $25 a month for every month that I used the device. What?! I guess I missed that in all the blah blah blah fine print! So, I can send it back but still owe $225? Might as well keep it… I checked with my insurance and now it shows only two claims dispositioned as “Discount Applied”. The statement that I received from ZYNEX has my insurance paying them $467.62 and I owe $250, for a total of $717.62! If I had known this, and that if I want to return, I will be charged a monthly fee of $25, I would never have submitted the prescription to be filled.
I believe this is a scam and they drag billing out until you have no other logical choice but to pay the $250.
Desired outcome: ZYNEX, the $467.62 my insurance paid you should be more than enough to cover payment. I would like to return the device and have a zero balance for my account.
