AARP Secure Horizons as a medi-gap insurance is totally impossible in terms of customer service. They are cheery upon sign up, but if you ever have an issue you cannot get past person #1 who will wear you out, wear you down until you surrernder. In our case, even though they issued a new card for our move 90 miles away, with a new doctor, they canceled us saying we had "moved out of are." Well, uh, yeah, 90 miles north (in Califorina.) You gave us a new card/new primary physician, so? After literally hours on the phone, all documented - no help. Meanwhile, for 9 months no Medicare Part D, medigap and now nobody will insure us since were were canceled by another company. They should be sued!

total rip off
I was canceled by AARP's Secure Horizons claiming I had moved. I did not. However, for the first time in decades I did have a medical issue (no big deal really.) Could this be the real reason? I called and called and could never get anybody to understand I had not really moved those 2 blocks, kept the same doctor, no change of address -- how did they get that address in the first place? Bank, IRS, Social Security, everybody -- no change of address needed/submitted. Nobody would talk to me, meanwhile I've no Medicare Part D or supplemental. They are a horrible company. I'm considering a class action suit since I've encountered others with the same complaint -- you can't get past the original first tier phone answerer who will just wear you out. No call backs, no respones to letters, etc. BAD health insurance company!

My 93-year old mother is also having problems with Secure Horizons' Dental Insurance Rider which we discontinued almost 2 years ago. They will not release her from her $32 per month premium even though she has not visited a dentist or received any dental services whatsoever since we cancelled the plan. Yet they continue harassing her with letters and phone calls even though they have no basis for their claim.
As I have medical POA for my mother, Secure Horizons is the worst provider I have yet to deal with. The customer service reps are rude and sound like shake-down artists running a scam. I would advise all seniors to look elsewhere for medical or dental insurance.
I totally agree with your assessment of Secure Horizons services. I have two complaints against that company. One is, they claim that I signed up for a Dental Insurance Rider, which I never did, I only inquired about their dental plan and nothing happened until a year later when they sent me a statement for the years premiums of $500.00 something. When I contacted them first by phone and then numerous letters to dispute these charges, since there's no record of signing anything or accepting their Rider, all I get is the same form letter saying that on such and such a date I made the call to inquire and they signed me up. No reputable company in the world waits a year to send me a bill for something I never ordered much less received anything for it.
My second complaint is with my vision prescription. I had to go back three times to get my glasses fixed, but still not to my satisfaction.
This company along with its reps. that I had to talk to are the worst business people I have ever encountered. I tell everyone to stay away from this company.
I am so ticked off. A couple of months I had my prescription filled for one of my heart meds. I was told at Walmart that my medicine wasn't covered by Secure Horizon anymore. So the prescription cost me almost $50.00. A few days later, I got a letter from Secure Horizon saying they would no longer cover that med.(Atacand) So my doctor prescribed a different medicine. The new meds made me cough a lot, constant drainage down the back of my throat, have sinus infections(a side effect). We tried other meds when I started the heart meds. He put me back on the Atacand and I appealed the decision. The nice people on the phone told me "No Problem, just mail in the appeal and you will be returned to your formally acception. Guess what? My doctor made the call saying why I couldn't tolerate their suggested brand. The new meds that Secure wanted me on was $125.00 (my cost) So I asked "if I'm paying $125.00, what is my insurance co. paying?" The answer was $269.00. What I don't get is, why would the insurance company pay $269.00 for the new med, when it would cost them at the most $50.00. a month. My heart Doctor told me that Secure Horizon denied the change and S.H. rarely change the meds for their patients. The nice people who will tell you anything and then it doesn't happen. Your complaints don't matter. Guess I'll be looking for a new company when renewal comes back up.
I work for Secure Horizons. Most issues regarding an address come from two places. Either, you've had a mailing address on file for over 6 months, that's in a different county/service area; or, you have a different address on file with the SSA. Regardless, you need to make sure you keep your addresses up to date. When the plan or the SSA has an out of area mailing address for over 6 months, you are disenrolled per federal law, to protect you from not having routine care covered due to lack of a provider network.
My partner has had AARP's Secure Horizons for several years, and has been very pleased with them. He had two bouts of cancer, surgery, rad. therapy, and followups with no issues re Secure Horizons. He has pre-existing conditions as well. I don't think he has had problems re getting service via phone or thru snail mail, and has always been treated with respect and courtesy. As a matter of fact, there was one family physician that we requested they take off the provider list because of the poor and suspicious conditions we witnessed, and they actually dropped him after discussing it with them.
Have you called AARP to discuss your concerns?
Also, it is possible that someone has stolen your personal information, hence the change of address and other "errors".

I recently joined AARP partly because they offered a free travel bag, the promotional flier showed a photo of the bag, it looked very nice. I expected a substantial bag with a shoulder strap, a bag which could carry a significant amount of belongings in when you "travel." When it came, it did look like what was pictured on the flier, but it was tiny, about the size of a small camera bag. Not really useful in a practical way, and not what one normally thinks of as a travel bag. The photo of the bag on the flier didn't show a person or anything next to it so you'd know that it was tiny. That was deliberate, in my opinion. I doubt anyone would want this next to useless bag. In my opinion, this is about as close to a scam as you can get without it legally being considered a scam.

Wow, I always thought of AARP as a reputable organization, but now I realize that they can scam with the best of them! I was attracted by a snail mail letter offering a "deluxe 3-piece travel organizer set" if I joined AARP. Just before sending payment, I had the bright idea of going to the website to find out the items' measurements (which were NOT given, in even the teeniest of print, in the hard-copy come-on). I guess that phrase "travel organizer" — which one's brain erroneously translates as "luggage" — is key. Let's just say that anyone who has watched the movie Spinal Tap and remembers the Stonehenge scene will get an idea of how laughably small these items are.
I have been waiting for the original trunk organizer it never came. But the renewal for my aarp came I knew there was a reason I didn’t fill it out right away, but I couldn’t remember what it was. I was watching a commercial and there it was. My gift! The organizer again being advertised as a gift… Well! Guess what you owe me one from my signing .
A travel bag is supposed to be smaller, so you can have the essentials in a smaller, lighter bag instead of carrying around a big backpack. Its essentially a purse or satchel, but called a travel bag to sound more androgynous

AARP are they now Scamming! when I recieved mail, their was a picture from AARP, showing nice luggage bags for signing up with them, so I used to be with them ma ny years ago, anyway so I signed up for three years thinking I will have some nice travel luggage also, but what did I recieve in the mail was NOTHING like I was suppose to get, already thinking that AARP scammed me, what has companies come to, I recieved these blue things that are nothing like they showed me I would be getting, these to me are junk, witch I have no use for and are nothing like I was to get. I wonder what will they do next!
Signed up for 5 more years with AARP. Expected to receive nice travel bags as pictured in their promo. Wow, had a super thin 4” x 6” package show up in my mailbox. These pieces of cloth/mesh were folded inside. What a scam. AARP has no credibility any longer.
AARP will never get my RENEWAL
The gifts of the 3 piece travel stuff is something u can get from the dollar store. I hate when multi million dollars lie to u.
Last year I waited 6 months and several emails to finally get my little 6” x 9” bag . Thinking that the bag offered this year might be better I renewed and as usual haven’t received it yet . Also I went to get a quote for automobile insurance through Aarp Hartford promised a duffel bag, 5 months and 3 emails later I received my cheesy vinyl duffel bag . Not only do you have to brow beat them to get it, when you do get it you find it wasn’t worth the effort to follow up on it . Only the principal of the thing made it worth it.
LMAO 😂 😂😂
Thanks You Guys I really NEEDED That..
Have a Blessed Day!
Seems to me everyone here joined just for a bag an not for the service
I know. I find it very strange. The membership only costs $12 and if you utilize it you’ll easily save more than that. Expecting a very nice bag on top of that when you’re only paying $12 seems silly. As long as it basically looks somewhat like what is pictured it doesn’t matter what size people think it is.
My complaint is listed above...
I agree with all the bag complaints. Not only is the size misrepresented but the fabric & the way it is sewed together is a disaster...Totally useless & will be tossed in the garbage.
The quality of the gift makes one think twice about the quality of this organization & the truth to their other
offers & representation.
Ann L.
And truth be known you really don't need an AARP membership to save money, most place I shop give a senior discount with out showing a membership card. As for the insurance it's a scam as well ...I called to get car insurance quotes, an I was quoted a too good to be true rate, thankfully my direct deposit had not hit yet because they wanted me to pay right then. When I called back with the money it was a completely different quote, way higher, an the new customer service agent had no idea where the cheaper quote came from. So I suspect I would of given them my debit info but way more would of been deducted...proving that they are scammers ...about the gifts an the great savings.
membership refund
Based on a AARP promotional offer in Jan, 2008, I extended my AARP membership for 4 years through Dec, 2011. I paid $29.50 using a credit card. Today (08/11/09) I phoned AARP [protected]) to cancel my AARP membership and obtain a refund for the remainder of the subscription period ending in December, 2011. They told me a credit of $24.21 will be issued to...

We initially thought this company was going to be a problem because of all these complaints, so we did a little more research, met with the company, and reviewed other online sources. It seems as though some people are complaining more than once on this board regarding the same topic, and my wife and I just couldn't understand it. We went through with the promotion anyway and there were no issues whatsoever. There are people out there giving this company a bad reputation! What gives? We're getting the best package deals out there, while you guys are sitting here complaining. The staff was polite and courteous! We got them on the phone the first time without incident. Its a shame - small business is having a tough enough time out there without having to deal with people complaining about things they can solve with a simple phone call. If there is a problem, you work it out. Talk it out.
Like I said, there were no problems on this end.

Hi Louis Morelli and other Delaware folks, here is information pertaining to the OAG in New Jersey against this company. Follow it through. http://www.nj.gov/oag/newsreleases09/pr20090611a.html
Problem Resolved? This guy and his wife are on something and it is not sleeping pills. I have been riped off and that is for usre. L Morelli
This guy works for the company and is just trying to keep the scam alive. These people ought to be put in jail. Why would the State of NJ file a lawsuit unless they had serious evidence that proves their case. These people apparently also post their own reviews to the BBB and are not associated with the travel groups they claim. They don't have business cards. They're operating as Serenity Travel with Hudson Stone sending out the promotion letters. One post in another forum says they've been around since 1997 yet their website is under construction www.serenitytravelinc.com
OMG are you on drugs? You must be kidding or are in on the scam.
Either you work for the company, are related to someone there or was paid off to write this. It was the funniest thing I have read all day. Are you dellusional?
YOU MUST WORK FOR THEM .THAT FOR SURE. HEY, YOU WANT TO PAY MY BILL FOR WICH I GAT S...T, YOU S...P F...
RaferMan, that was the best laugh I've got all day besides being screwed by these A**holes. Are you indicating ALL of us are making this stuff up? The staff IS RUDE. Tony Marinilli himself got into a childish debate with me on the phone. I was calm because I know how to deal with Idiots like him. My wife was there Friday and some staffer JUMPED in front of her and said "you can not go through this door" hence it was a presentation about to start. My wife, what are you talkin about "aren't I still a member" I have no idea if your experience was pleasant or if you are a Five Points Avocant but NO BODY ON THIS BOARD is making it this stuff up and TRUST AND BELIEVE WE ALL TRIED TO WORK IT OUT. WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK. I tried to utilize the service and was given the run around, the free trip I was offerred has a disconnected phone number, we were told we could sell our week to a friend of Ed Ravel (not even sure if this is his real name) the number he gave for this friend is out of service, there is no website for this friend's company.. the list goes on and on...
Thanks for the Laugh! I needed it
insurance
I called AARP/Hartford insurance, on 4-25-09, to change my current Hartford auto insurance and umbrella from my private agent to AARP. The savings would have been $2000 a year. The AARP agent took my information and said my wife and I had an excellent driving record. They asked me several questions to qualify for the umbrella policy and all was in order. The AARP agent then put me on hold saying that he had to get approval from the underwriter. He came back and apologized and said that he had one more question.
Since I am a physician, he asked if I had ever published or will ever publish any scientific article. My response was yes. He then put me on hold and came back and said the underwriter was denying me my umbrella policy because I have or may publish an article in a medical journal.
I explained to the agent that I am a hospital employee and any article written would have to be approved by the research committee at the hospital and that the hospital also carries a liability policy for me. I even offered to fax the policy. I even suggested they exclude or put on a rider excluding any articles written. The agent went back to the underwriter and claimed to have gone to his boss as well. The response was still NO. I asked how they can possibly exclude everyone in the scientific community who will write or will ever write an article. He could not answer. This seems like a ridiculous and discriminatory reason to deny a policy. It seems like that they were looking for any minor excuse to deny the policy.
What I found most interesting is that I already have an umbrella policy with Hartford. I was looking to change to Hartford under AARP to save money on my auto insurance. The umbrella goes with my auto insurance so I could not change. I did ask the agent why Hartford/AARP denied me while Hartford with my private agent had no problem giving me the umbrella. He could not answer me.
Also what relevance does my professional work or professional life have to do with my personal umbrella since I have separate liability insurance through my place of employment? He could or would not answer the question. In addition he would not let me speak with the underwriter.
My name is Anthony Kelly I'm 57 yrs old and up till Dec 02 2013 I had auto insurance through your company. I received a noticed that AARP was cancelling my auto insurance policy due to one missed payment via EFT. Now my payments are generally collected after midnight on the 30th of each month, but for some reason they were not able to collect. I was never contacted via email or phone. I found out about my policy being cancelled after receiving mail from my old address which I change long before Dec 2013, but back to payment. When I read the letter saying I was being canceled I immediately called and was told because of EFT not going through on Dec02, 2013 by Dec 26th 2013 I will be canceled when I ask the female I spoke to on the phone could I pay over the phone she replied “no” . Needless to say I was shocked because she said I had no recourse and would have to find another insurance company. I read similar complaints in consumer affairs one case was exactly like mine for Dec 2013. My payments were $130/month since June 2013 till Dec 2013 there were no problems. I feel I was wronged and was unfairly treated by AARP customer service. Now I’m left scrambling to find a new policy for my new car . What I find most strange is I was told I could never rejoin AARP again with no recourse.

I had aarp Hartford. it came due in Dec, I did not get a renewel. So in January I called them. I was informed that I had been canceled in August for non payment. I said wait a minute I payed in dec last year and pay by the year.. 13 phone calls later, 4 faxed copies of the check and 2 mailed. they said we will have to check with the underwriters and see if we can reinstate you. After I threatened to sue and had an attorney friend send them a letter, I got reinstated and they gave me an extra 6 months. The next time I got my statement they raised my rate almost $200.00 a year. when I called and asked the reason I was told " Because we can" "no special reason" No tickets, No accident, No non pays, just "because we can" . MY REPLY " I am canceling the policy " JUST BECAUSE I CAN" been with safeco ever since. NO PROBLEMS ! You control the money if nobody pays them they will not last long.
I would like to think that with this happening to you, that you would cancel your Hartford Insurance since this is the way they repay their loyal members. I wouldn't feel safe with them. What if something happens and you must use your insurance, can you imagine what would happen to you if you ever had to submit a claim. I was with Hartford for 1 yr. when I switched from another insurance company that I had had for many years, because I trusted the name AARP and I figured they would never let anyone use their name if they weren't reputable, well, this is what happened to me. The 1st yr it went well, then when it was time to renew, with no reason at all, they went up $800 for the 2nd year. I had a claim from my old insurance that was ready in 1 year to be taken off the books, and Hartford knew this beforehand and this is what they did to me. Good luck. A concerned senior.
membership dues
Today I received a third bill for my AARP membership dues with a letter telling me that I probably forgot to pay them on time. I received the first notice in January. The problem lies in the fact that my dues aren't due until 6/30/09. When I called AARP today they told me that they send out the bill SIX MONTHS BEFORE IT''S DUE. I feel that this policy is taking advantage of the elderly by an organization that is suppose to be their advocate. Many members would have gone ahead and paid it when they got the first notice. I think that AARP shouldn't send out bills for dues until a month before previous memberships' expire, like any other organization would. Shame on them!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Advocating for seniors is a serious responsibility and billing for membership renewal 6 months premature is a violation of that trust which each member places in the organization when joining. We also never received our valid thru stickers for year one of our membership. We have just paid our renewal for year two, one month prior to my husbands birthday date as should be done. I'm glad to see that AARP has addressed the bill date problem, but now how about our stickers? Having never received them the first year, we have not be able to present our card for any AARP discount programs and therefore feel a rebate should be refunded by AARP for those unused benefits promised. Basically our membership was a magazine subscription and nothing else this past year. I look forward to a prompt reply from AARP regarding this sticker issue. Any such mailing should be clearly marked (important membership confirmation information enclosed) so that it is not confused with the sundry solicitations proffered by AARP annually.

I have received a bill for due, which is not due until January 1, 2010. I did not receive a valid thru date. I am concern now because I have been a member since 1988. If I have to pay for my one year subscription 6 months ahead. This is not fair along with every Tom Dick and Harry billing more and more ways to get Seniors to pay ahead. If this is the way that you plan, please return my portion of the unused amount and cancell my subscription.

wrong info from rep
I sent in a prescription to the mail order company that handles AARP claims. I have been given wrong information 4 different times. I am told something different each time I call. As a result, I am going to have to pay almost double for my prescription at a local pharmacy. I am sending the mail order all the info they requeasted and I'll see how long it takes to get my new prescriptions.
I will definitely change to another company next open enrollment and advise anyone NOT to get their Part D through AARP. It is less expensive because the service is terrible! I hope this will save someone else the greif I've gone through.

I hope I'm not too late to help you here. I too have been given the runaround for a week. After dealing with these awful people, I found a FREE discount program online and signed up for it on the spot AND - get this - the prices are LESS than AARP's discounts. Just go to http://www.yourrxcard.com/ and you can even compare prices in your area on what you're taking. AARP can stick it. I'm sick of them and their scams.
scam
My husband and i attended a 90 min seminar promising consolidator priced travel for a membership fee ranging from $9, 000.oo to 'today only' special of $999 plus registration costs...emulating time share proposals.
We fell for this scam...included was the 'lure' of two nights free at a Ritz-Carlton of your choice...AND...TWO FREE TICKETS within the continental US.
This happenened only late last night and we hope to not only be protected by our VISA card..but, to force VISA to confront these malicious perpetrators of deceit.
The invitation comes to you by mail in the form of a bright Happy Birthday card. Beware!
I sure wish that I had done some basic homework on this.
We are guilty of being not only gullible but also stupid.

Thank goodness we did not sign up with them. We did take the gift of the complimentary package giveaway. I sent in a copy of my drivers license along with the gas card and now i see how stupid I was.
THERE IS NO SUCH WEBSITE TO LOOK THIS UP...SOMEONE HAS TO PUT A STOP TO THIS.
If you're looking for complaints about Five Points Travel, look under "Dreamworks Vacation."
This complain concerns Five Points Travel, Bentley Travel and Dream vacations International, Inc.
On June 2, 2009, my wife and I listened to a presentation by a young representative ("Zach") about the benefits of the Dream Vacations International, Inc. (DVI) travel club, a presentation hosted at Bentley Travel in Parsippany NJ. DVI purports to secure at a discount and resell, without markup, accommodations and trips sold by reputable travel organizations through DVI’s power of bulk buying. We specifically inquired about DVI’s ability to resell travel from a specific favored travel organization we have often used in the past. DVI assured us they could provide real discounts and we requested a quote. They quoted a specific trip, destination and date at about 30% below the catalog price. We also inquired into their affiliation with Five Points Travel (FPT) which had bad reviews on the web; they first disclaimed any knowledge of FPT and then conceded that they had purchased customer accounts from FPT. We signed up - because of DVI’s reassurances and significant discounts being offered only then. Yeah, yeah, I know.
The following day I called my preferred travel vendor whose trip was quoted to us by DVI. They explained that they do not sell their trips through anyone else and promptly asked their legal department to issue a letter, which I now have, explaining that any contrary representation by DVI was fraud. I put my concerns in writing and called Bentley Travel to ask for an email to which I could direct my concerns in writing. I was told to email my letter to info@fivepointstravel.com, the company they had disclaimed knowledge of. I then asked if FPT was the same as DVI and was told they were. I e-mailed and faxed my letter and immediately confirmed by phone that the fax had been received.
In a few hours I had a call from Thomas Mayes, a senior executive, who said that he would be happy to help us since DVI is there "to reduce stress, not to create it" and after all "no harm, no foul". He directed me to contact the office manager, a Gintari Zubrut to undo any charges. I wrote Ms. Zubrut with specific instructions about what needed to be done to avoid the charge being posted to our credit card account. She ignored my instructions and took no action. I spoke to her the next day, cordially, and re-sent detailed instructions - which she also ignored.
Now the charge has posted and the process of unwinding this transaction has become more difficult. It is apparent that Bentley/Five Points/DVI has no intent to act or experience in direct or honest dealings and I urge all, most strongly, to stay away from them.
Fred R. Cohen, Esq.
Simply, when you talking about big company you have to find few customers not happy, Also Simply you can easy visit the branch and ask about whatever yoy need
I agree this is a scam.
We make the same mistake two years ago but my wife and me did not give-up with the law, fighting to get them by the judge and finally to collect the money back, it is long and tedious process but it is our duty to report this unconfortable unhuman behavior from any one, the law is ready for this type of peolple, fortunatelli there are honest people to protect our rights.
We have recently been taken advantage of by DVI...After attending thier promotion we signed up. Waited the 5 days to be able to book and found out immediately that they do not hold true to what they advertise. I have emailed and called with no response. It is quite simple refund the money immediately. When i looked at the travel sites available I found them to be a 2 to a 2 - 1/2 star facility in the meeting they showed us 5 star facilities. The free airline tickets must be paid upfront a fee to even strt the booking. Not sure how to go about getting a refund...any suggestions!
I am a member of DVI travel and I am very happy with the membership. I have been a member for 4 years and have traveled more since becoming a member. DVI is very helpful when booking travel. I used to own timeshare and this membership is so much better and more flexible.
I received a mailing saying that I one two complimentary cruise tickets with Royal Carribean. I called the number on the pamphlet and spoke to someone. They told me I needed to schedule an appointment and listen to a 90 minute presentation, no obligation to buy anything. However I would have to pay for port fees for the tickets. My pamphlet said that the first 55 people responding to the mailing would get the free tickets so I asked the person what number caller I was. The person seemed caught off guard by this and told me that I was past the 55 number mark, but because some people backed out that I would be included in the first 55. The person said that I couldn't bring any kids to the presentation at the travel agency, which is weird because why can't you bring kids to a travel agency? The person told me the place would be CRAZY if all eight people at the presentation brought their kids. I asked why they would give away a $1100 cruise for nothing in return. The person told me that they get "wholesale" prices from royal caribbean so it only costs the travel agency a few hundred dollars, which they can afford for promotional / advertising purposes. I later called royal caribbean, they told me that they don't offer wholesale prices on $1100 cruises that cheap and that this was a scam! So this is what my research has turned up thus far: you go to the 90 minute presentation, they try to sell you a travel membership. Even if you say no (and deal with 3 high pressure sales people, they will give you your cruise tickets IF YOU GIVE THEM THE PORT FEE MONEY (several hundred dollars). They then take your money and your tickets are phony! Bam, they got you! If you sign up for the "travel membership for 1000's of dollars, bam they REALLY got you! Beware and call your states fraud department!
Hi, there...
I had a chance to visit the location in DE, Newark where they had a presentation on DVI and all the benefits that it provides to members on all levels. Overall, I did like the concept or offered program, however the price tag on membership itself was kinda very high. Given current stage of the economy and the uncertainty with the job market I hesitated to get myself into this program.
I liked the fact that they try to answer all the questions and assist in all the matters. They keep asking you if you want a cookie or tea, or water. The representatives were very professional, friendly, and not too pushy...UNTIL they understood that I'm not getting into this... as soon as they knew that I'm not buying this and not willing to become a member the pressure starts escalating... the first guy, Christian was trying to go over the plan again and offer better ways (which was ok) then his other boss I assume came over and offered even better deals with lower rates and maybe "time to think about" (this was ok as well).
NOW the best part...(keep in mind until this moment everything was nice and professional)
They did ask us to wait for the final representative that will come and give us the "promised ticket certificates" for our time spent on this presentation as they promised in the letter send to me as well as confirmed over the phone when I booked this time with them.
So final rep walks in already acting like he is doing me a favor just by being there.
Next he confirms if we are still not interested and asks us if we need some time. We refuse
After that he starts eye balling/scanning the questionnaire that we filled in for them in the beginning of this (most probably trying to understand why we are not getting their membership) at the same time he keeps looking at us like while scanning the paper like he is one of my middle school teachers and who is administering the test.
After that he says OK, here is your “certificate for the tickets”, he also says that we need to send $75 for the taxes to the address provided on that certificate. Then he hands me a sheet and tell us that we need to sign the disclaimer. I start reading that to make sure I know what I sign, simultaneously my wife starts reading the “ticket certificate info”. I signed the disclaimer however my wife keeps looking over the “fine print”…
NOW (keep in mind it’s been less than 2 minutes since this last representative walked into the room). He keeps looking at us like we owe him a Million bucks, and that he is wasting his time now…. Then he “barks” at my wife – “Are you going to read this entire thing now?” My wife jumped…. She looked at me, looked at him, looked at the disclaimer and didn’t sign it. Aster that the representative told us that we can just give that to him when we done and walked out. We were in shock……here they have been trying to be nicest people on earth, claming that there is no pressure, no obligations, and they are trying to have best customer service on the planet and so on. AND then this guy acts like I’m wasting his time…THEY HAVE WASTED OUR 1.5hrs and NOW HE ASCT LIKE HIS 2minutes are being wasted.
So we just walked out and my wife never gave them the disclaimer with our signatures. Later we read the fine print where they had all these limitation, and requirements for the “ticket certificate” and let me tell you it has so many limitations and requirements that normal process of booking tickets will become a very painful experience.
Overall I liked the idea of DVI, but hate the way they act towards those who do not want to have their service…. FULL RANGE of UNPROFESSIONALISM and DISCRIMINATION towards someone who is not becoming their club member….
jlpally and others, follow all my posts from NJbuyerneedshelp. There is a lawyer who is actively suing in addition to the NJ AOG office. Follow up from there, it's a start. Hopefully everyone will get there monies back
Vacation Travel Club
This company appears to operate under a host of other names and has associations with companies with equally unsavory reputations. They currently operate out of Parsippany, NJ under Five Points Travel which is an issuing agent or distributor for Vacation Travel Club in Benton Harbor, MI. They send out invitations with the promise of free travel gifts to sit through their 90 minute travel club presentation. The salespeople of Five Points generate their revenue by selling the membership with an upfront membership fee. Only an annually recurring $169.00 goes to Vaction Travel Club. The upfront payments, often in the thousands of dollars, provides no value. Do not sign on the date of the presentation and do your due dilgence in researching this company. Nobody at the company has a business card and all the salespeople I spoke with have either recently moved from Florida or Branson, MO and appear to be transients. There is a complete temporary ambience at their office in Parsippany. Their membership agreement has no recission or cancellation policy. I attempted to cancel within 24 hours after using none of their services and was refused. Dreamworks and Five Points Travel have no website, but follow the link below for more information and a typical warning regarding these clubs.

Do we stand a chance of getting any of our money back?
They added more party as defendant on August 27. That's the latest news... Should we call NJ Consumer Affairs to find out more?
What ever happened to Attorney General low suit filed in June 2009. Any updetes, any new info?
thanks, I'm in contact with someone there now. They are supposed to contact me later this week.
Please file your complaint at NJ Consumer Affairs against BoA's wrong doing. BoA is part of this scam...
Yup... they recharged us too. The last letter they sent us said they found the dispute in our favor, and if the merchant sent any new information they may have to recharge us. Well they didn't provide any new information, but they still charged us anyway. Spent time on the phone with a whole lot of different people and the bottom line is they will not help us and we have to pay in full. The only hope we have now is that the lawsuits go through.
non qualified tax people!
Filed taxes e-file with aarp told I could not e-file stimulus check. filed around the first week of February because i could not e-file i have to wait until july 11 for check. The people you have do taxes should be trained a little better this guy took almost 1/2 hr just to file this stimulus payment only other customers came and went this guy should be retired from doing taxes.

bad experience!
I am sick and tired and don’t want to take it anymore! I submitted a prescription for 90 ZYRTEC 10mg and received the drug with a bill for $195. That same day I noticed that the medication was selling at WalMart for $75 for the same dosage and quantity without the need for a prescription. I called Prescription Solutions, the mail order company preferred by AARP and was informed I could not return the unopened bottle nor would they rebate the price.
In essence, I paid almost three times the retail price for this medication and I feel that this is unfair since under Medicare D I am supposed to save on medications and not be ripped off by my provider.
Today I finally heard from AARP and they told me they would do nothing and suggested that I file a Medicare D grievance...

In the May issue of AARP Bulletin on page 46 (Last Laugh" the "Grandkids Now and Then" essay under "Discipline" the author mentioned "setting the cat on fire." This is definitely not funny and should never be referred to, even n jest, because it cold give somebody ideas.

United Health group HR who are flying from gurgoan to take interviews at UHG Hyd which is in MindSpace Part are just mother ###ers because they just play tricks
If anybody can find out the name address or email of this company please feel free to contact me. I hate people that scam for a living. Get out there and earn your money like the rest of us.
The ad about how a mother found a trick to get her teeth whiten without the expenses is nothing but a scam. I got charged twice 92.37 without getting the product. I have got only one refund. I was told the other wouldbe within 4 to 6 business days. That was 2 months ago. I still have the email. I tried to send a reply to the email but it was return. Everytime I call I get a lot of apologies but no money. I am physicallyed handicapped and elderly but got ripped off. DO NOT order any thing if it says it was by a housewife trying to safe money. They wont even give me the name of their company or an adddress to write to them. I really wish there was justice in the world
This isn't AARP, it's UnitedHealth Group. Zyrtec is an over-the-counter drug as off 2008, you should buy it that way because it's a lot cheaper. You agree to a contract when you sign up for part-d, and it's your responsibility to stay to it. If you don't like the benefits, you can change to another provider from 11/15 - 12/31 every year.
I have had a nightmare of lies on shipment days and failed promises. Prescription Solutions billed for a prescription that never shipped. Despite promises to resolve they have let customers completely run out of medications and have to repurchase at full price due to "refilled to early" caused by prescriptions never shipped. I contacted UPS who stated the prescription solutions entered info to recieve a tracking number however they never presented the package for shipment! I believe this maybe a medicade fraud scheme and will report to medicade for investigation. Has anybody else had this problem? AARP stated they would send a form that I could fill out and offered no assistance in resolution.
completely stunned
AARP - www.aarp.org
I am 72 years old and have had my auto insurance and homeowners insurance through aarp. My insurance is being handled for aarp through the hartford. I have probably had this insurance for approximately the past twenty years. The policy no. Is 55 phe293950, andrew j. Kline sr., 200 federal st ne. Warren, oh, 44483. My phone no. Is [protected].
About two or three weeks ago i called their customer service department because i wanted a quite on how much it would cost me to put my 16 year old grandson who just got his license. To drive one of my cars, i have a 1995 buick roadmaster and a 1987 cadillac which i alone drive. If i was to put my grandson on my insurance it would be to drive my buick. When they gave me the quote of how much it would cost me, which is over $1200. A year, i told them their was no way i could afford this, i am on a fixed income and to just forget it. Besides the transmission has gone bad on my buick, and my grandson is buying his own car sometime this week or the first of next week. The cost of fixing the buick is way too much, so i am just going to sell it as is. Too make a long story short, the first of this week i get a statement from the hartford stating my premium due is $1,255.28, they put my grandson on my policy without any consent from me. I call there and talk to a cust. Rep and she proceeds to tell me that i have no choice in the matter i have to put him on my policy, that she is in control of my policy and she will say what is to be done with my policy, this is no bs, this is exactly what she told me. I was stunned, i told her i am the one who pays for this policy and you tell me i have no control of it, that you do, and she says "yes". I had asked to speak to one of her supervisors about this and she told me they were all busy and would not let me speak to one of them. They do not even know who my grandson is, what is name is nor to they have any info about his drivers license yet they proceed to put him on my policy.
I want to know if they are within their power doing this to me, she told me if i didn't like it i could take my insurance elsewhere, i don't want to have to do this, it is so much of a hassle, especially with my homeowners ins. Because i pay my insurance with my house payment each month.
I am just completely stunned about this whole thing, what kind of a democracy are we living in when an insurance company tells you what they are going to do with your policy whether you like it or not.
If someone can not help me in this matter could you please direct me to someone that can. This whole situation just does not sound right to me.
Thank you very much, and i will be more than willing to supply you with any further information you might need.

I did a new policy on line 07/11/2023 and the policy that was sent to me in the mail is not correct . I emailed ms jenkins and has not heard back. I feel like this company is trying to scam me.
I have gone onto the benefits and thee advertising is false. Looking to book a hotel and Aarp states 10% of best rates. I found better rates on every other app that offers rates, ie: priceline, hotels. com and Hilton app itself. False advertising

Deficiencies in the services from the employment specialist and the project manager.
Promised free Weekender duffel bag for no-obligation auto insurance quote. Has been 9 months since quote, and several calls later have still not received promised duffel bag. Hartford appears to be deceitful, dishonest, and a deliberate scam.
Main reason I got AARP is to get Medicare information but cannot understand the people on the phones with thier strong foriegn accents. Must change or your group is worthless to me. Would include more info but then this would be nothing more than a rant. Easy fix. Respctfully, Me and most Costomers.
free suitcase for joining. We never received anything.
This company has stiffed our primary care office out of 20+ claims visits because of "reviews" of records, which conveniently state that no claim is payable. Primary care is at a shortage as it is, and this greedy treatment of providers is criminal. We are having to terminate all of our AARP patients since we cannot get paid.
I don't care for the "notices " for membership fees since I have never signed up for their "service ".
I joined because I really liked what they were offering for a gift, a little red play, I got a flashlight instead. What's up with that? I still always thought of joining, but, I had my heart on that little red speaker!
I mailed AARP a check for a discounted rate for a year membership subscription. When they cashed the check they applied the regular price. When I called customer service to find out how they were able to charge a different amount that was written on the check without my permission, I was given the run around. I asked them to refer to the check as proof of the mistake but they said they shred the check, which is a lie because they presented the physical check to my bank. Each time I asked to speak with a supervisor I was disconnected. I was so upset that I told the representative to cancel my subscription and return my money. Neither was done.
I'm going to write a letter to AARP headquarters letting them know something fishy is going on.
Needless to say, they have lost a valued customer.

My dauhtr is disabled and on Medicare - she made the huge mistake of signing up for Secure Horizons. Now she is being shuttled from hospital to sub-par warehouse facility to a convalescent center to back to the hospital. She doesn't know her doctor's name, results of the blood tests and is in horrible shape. Can't get any info from Secure Horizons - the only secure horizon they insure is a graveyard. If anyone is suing let me know!
Take my word for it folks. AARP is a rip-off organization that couldn't care less about the senior citizens they sell insurance to and 'supposedly' represent.
At every opportunity, AARP will cheat anyone dumb enough to buy the insurance they sell, believing that AARP has the very best interests of old people at heart.
There is no low to which AARP will not stoop to cheat old people out of their money. Why do we not sue their pants off?
Friends...
I was about to start the lung transplant process at Cleveland Clinic . I had July appointments for all the prelim tests etc. Their financial department called yesterday and said they did not accept patients who have the Secure Horizons Medicare Advantage insurance, sponsored by AARP. They said that their coverage for post transplant care stops at one year and there could be lots of problems beyond that point and I would not be covered. They say they are concerned about my long term health and that lack of coverage jeopardizes that. They said that even if I was a good transplant candidate in every other respect that lack of longer term coverage would be held against me by the transplant committee.Keep this in mind when you next buy health insurance.
I'm about to start looking for a new nearby transplant hospital. Obviously I can't get new insurance at this point.
So what is that point of having Secure Horizons coverage?
FYI: This is a real letter from a real person June 26th 2010.
If anyone is planing to sue these people, contact me. I have plenty to say about their horrible service.
