the branch manager approached me about raising my son better...
In mid-february 2018 my husband and I were approached by the branch manager tyrone as we filled out a slip, and he stood behind the counter, he was speaking in a loud voice asking if this boy was my son. As my 12 yr old autistic son was grabbing candy from the candy dish in front. And stated that a few days ago he had hit a kid in the face while getting candy and ran off and the dad was really upset. My husband responded ok man, he then repeated "yeah man the dad was really mad" my husband was irritated and said why don't you just shut the [censor] up. What do you want me to do to him? Punish him? For something that happened days ago? The manager then responded well you need to learn how to take care of your kids... Then as my husband turned and looked at the man then walked to the counter. My husband was cursing up set, the manager then states to his employees, other patrons and my husband and i, " hey just so you know I licensed weapons, referring to his fists, my husband asked if he was threating him and he responded well I get off at 7 that's what i'm saying and repeated that a few times. When I came into the conversation and let him know that was inappropriate as a manager he said, well am I just suppose to let him keep saying [censor] you and shut up, I responded yes! He may be in the wrong but you can't threaten him for getting upset. More words were said, we left, now weeks later after visiting the bank once since then, it's all of a sudden being closed for suspicion, he was there the last day I visited the bank and told the other teller to go ahead and get me. I've had this account for years same thing nothing changes... And as I tried to figure out why and how this happened I got put on hold on line and over the phone for more then 10 min at a time. With no answers and wrong numbers. I could not find a phone number or person to contact about this they sent me a letter and that's it wtf! And oh so sorry...

I have banked with Academy Bank for about 10 years. Years ago I was looking for a place and decided to use a rental locater company. The company charges a one time fee and send you a list of rentals. Well they charged me multiple times. I went into the bank and they put the money back on my account for all, but the one charge that was supposed to go through. Now years later and I cancel a gym membership and the gym did not stop the recurring. I called the bank and in order to get my $167 back I have to dispute it by filling out a form. Then I have to wait 10 days to get my money back. On top of that, they have to cancel my card and mail a new one, which I will receive in 14 days. Things have certainly changed over the years. Planning on looking for a new bank today. In addition, when I called in it stated the estimated hold time was 1 minute, however I waited over 10 minutes before someone was on the line.

Phone customer care sucks. I have never had any issues with actual locations. I'm traveling in another state death in family did a mobile check deposit held for almost 7 days. Been given lots of reasons why. Won't do anything mobile ever again. Have another check asked if will process better thru mail. Stated would hold any check at any amount. I think this is bogus. I believe holding money for there advantage.

The manager at my local bank is unprofessional, arrogant and outright rude, has treated me poorly every time I have been there. Just this evening he called me a "prissy little princess" for filling out a form incorrectly and claiming that usually someone does that for me. While attempting to file a complaint with Academy, I became fearful that it will not be taken seriously because I had to submit it as Feedback. There is a place to list my full name, email address, and a tiny little box for my "feedback". If there is a general process for all Feedback, how likely is it that my voice will be heard. I have left "feedback" many times before and no one has ever gotten back to me.

I was sent a check in the mail in the month of November, I was given an assignment from some woman named Barbra Clark. She wanted me to go to all these different stores like Walmart and buy money grams and then send them to some guy in CA. I was very confused about the assignment because it didn't make any sense, so I just decided to go to the bank and see if the check was real. Many of the employees said that the check is real and so I just went to cash it. The money was soon in my account on November 27th and I decided to help my parents out with some of their bills, after that it was plenty of money left. But on November 30th, which is today, my account was put into the negatives. I was going to use the rest of the money towards my bills, but now I can't pay them nor do anything else because my regular checks are going to have to go to the bank. I was sent 2, 100 and I spent at least half of that trying to help everyone. This is definitely a stressful situation and I need to get another job in order for me to be able to pay my own bills.

Yes I have been with Academy bank for a couple years now and never had a problem till now, On Sept 28 I was informed that my account had been frozen due to a fraudulent deposit, I have no idea where the deposit came from all I know right now is that my Social Security check went in on Oct 3 which is the only income I have, with the account being frozen it left me with no means to pay my monthly bills and to buy food, which now I am about to lose my car and the place that I rent, If it wasn't for the local food kitchen I would not have been able to eat, So it seems to me that Academy bank does not care about their customers like they say they do, other wise they could have discarded the fraudulent deposit and at least cleared my account so that I could pay my monthly bills, all I am asking is for them to figure out a way to clear my checking account so that I can pay my bills, it has been over two weeks and I have had no results on what they are doing. The tellers at the moberly mo branch in Walmart have taken and put someone else money in my account. When they had finally realized what had happened the just took the money back out of my account, leaving me overdrawn 200.98 to fix what they screwed up on. Now I have to pay them for their mistake. I do believe that this is a very big problem, at least it is for me. It has left me owing 4 more bills to pay with nothing to pay with. I would appreciate it if you could correct this mistake and give me my money back.

Ive had account information stolen. Ive been trying to call since early sunday and seems everything is closed and theres no way to report my card stolen. Because I haven't had no way to report my card stolen, whoever has my information went back and left me in zeros. I've tried live chat tried different numbers and seems there's no help on a Sunday. There should be easy access to reporting a card stolen. I feel hopeless because you guys are close and make it impossible to report my card stolen. In this case there should be very easy access to reporting a card stolen. I just hope that you guys will do the proper investigation into who took all my money out of my account. If you would have easy access they wouldn't have gone back and took last 100. I just really hope something is done about all this and my situation. This is not first time I've had problems with customer care.

Went into a branch yesterday because I'm having trouble with a company pulling ach payments. They had me open a new account and the rep assured me that the direct deposit would go into the new account. It did not go in. I lost my husband's entire paycheck because they allowed the account to overdraft so much. I'm going to change my direct deposit today at work then I'm closing the accounts and going to a different bank. I can't afford to buy food or pay my bills this week because of this error.

worst bank ever. went and signed up with this bank a few months ago and they never helped me set up an online account and then when i tried to call customer support they aren't even open the hours they say. today is 81117 its a Friday and customer support is suppose to close at 7 i called at 5:45. They have also taken money out of my account when not necessary and it ticked me off for the last time. I AM CANCELING MY ACADEMY BANK CARD! This bank is terrible i wouldn't suggest it to anyone

This is the upteenth time I've had problems with this bank.I am in the middle of a family emergency that is potentially fatal and you people withdrew my cell phone payment that I made last month.My bill is not due until the 12th of next month and yet here I am trying to figure out what hospital my sister is in while they are trying to save her life, and I can't make or receive calls. I am in so much dislike over Academy Bank that after 5 years, I am 1/8 of an inch away from closing my account and putting my money into a nationally know financial institution.
On June 2, 2017 I used Academy Bank's Bill Pay for the second time. Shame on me once; shame on me twice but never ever again will I use your service. Bill Pay is used for customer ease. It is not this way with your bank...
My "paper checks" have not reached their destination yet. It has been seven business days and no customer specialist can tell me when the "paper checks" were sent out. This is not the main issue. Why doesn't your bank deduct the amount of the Bill Pay, as soon as your customer issues an amount to be sent. In other words, other banks deduct the amount to be paid immediately after the Bill Pay option is selected by the customer. It is Academy Bank's lame and asinine practice of waiting to deduct from YOUR customer's account until AFTER the receiving party cashes the "paper check".
Your bank's Bill Pay service has created a financial standstill for me. I am on a fixed income and I am unable to do anything else while waiting for the check to be received and cashed by the receiving party. The amount needs to be deducted from YOUR customer's account WHEN your customer initiates the service.
I will never use this service again. I am thoroughly dissatisfied. I wish there was some compensation that your bank can do to at least let me believe in your bank again. I was interested in applying for a $5000.00 loan to pay off my debts but I am so belittled by your Bill Pay service that I really have to question my motivation. Your Bill Pay service leaves little to be desired.

I am writing on behalf of my 72 year old mother. She opened a account so she can set up a automated payment plan for her home insurance to be paid. A must have when she did a reverse mortgage. She went to the Arvada location on 72nd and Sheridan to deposit $60 in cash and she had money in the account from last time. She counted the three $20 dollar bills in front of the teller and then picked it up and handed to her. Later she found out the home insurance not paid bcuz the teller only deposited $20 out of the 60! So my mom called the Bank n the guy she talked to said the slip shows $60 but the teller crossed that out n hand wrote $20! So basically she stole money! My mom talked to the manager Mindy who gave he the run around and yesterday she called customer service who pulled up same slip the guy mentioned- with the 60 crossed off n 20 handwritten. Then she called manager n asked for video and the manger claims she looked at it n only saw her give her 20 n my mom asked to see the video n she she was told they can't bcuz it's out of state!? Wtf? My mom said UFC u saw the video u would see that I laid 3 $20 dollar bills down and then handed it to her! So basically they are stealing from the customers n elderly! I told her to go file with the police bcuz they are not doing anything and they got a scam going on! How sad they are stealing from the poor n elderly and no one she calls can help! Well, they've messed with wrong person as this is going to the news! The police! And court!

Hello my name is madeline morales, I am feeling a little frustrated with this situation so decided to file.
On january 31, 2017, I opened a checking account with an employee named stacey, I was with her for over an hour filing out paper work and going over personal information. Last week I used to account and routing number to pay one of my bills, I went into the bank today to with drawl money from my account, and an employee told me my account was closed because my documents were not complete. I remember perfectly sitting down and before I left the bank they told me everything was done I just needed to wait for my card. I was never expecting to go in to get money and them tell me my account was closed. I feel like the employees are very unprofessional, I would like to know that the money that was in my account will be refunded to me, also I paid one of bills and they will most likely be sending a fee of some sort for paying with a closed account. I am really really really angry at this situation you guys have put me in. I needed the money that was in my account today, its unfair my account was closed due to the employees mistakes, and I had no knowledge.

I applied, and opened a new checking account at an academy bank branch in laffyette, co.
It was simple, and the staff was friendly with this approaching disgruntled customer - me. All of their criteria was explained thoroughly; however, the checklist of preferences that they went over with me were not submitted as selected. An example being: "paperless" - saves $6.00 for everything the bank sends out, including their own announcements; not just bank statements. Just to reiterate - that is $6/mailing; not a $6/mo fee. Even though I had selected "paperless", and it was certainly discussed; when my info/app were submitted and entered in by the bank associate, that was one of the major errors in setting up my simple checking account. The biggest error made: I was given the packet of starter checks, deposit slips, and the card with my account number printed on it; but, the bank rep gave me a completely different account number package! Meaning, the actual account number that was given to me in the computer system was not the same as the starter-set, which was the only "official" information I had until my debit card showed up. That was another nightmare that followed a discrepancy issue that caused further, huge issues involving the need to cash a (Business-written) check, while leaving $50-$100 still in the account. I had to fight for $200 cash that was mine... $200, not $2, 000. I had a business-written check for $241, (But from a bank that was in erie, pa-sketchy) , and I needed $160 minimum of that check, in cash, and had to fight for it, and was left with the impression that I was just given grace in discretion. However, there was no further attempt to figure out the account number discrepancy that, of course, showed up first. I don't even know, looking back, how money was deposited into my account, given that I had filled out the deposit slip with an incorrect account number printed on the bottom.
This was only my first month's experience with academy bank. As months passed by, I would discover the hard way what their one-month period was, (There was a min-use of 15 transactions/mo on my debit card) ; it started on the 16th of every month, and within that period, I was short a couple of transactions. I was charged the fee, of course, and was notified by mail, on paper, which of course cost $6.00 to receive the bad news 2 days later than if notified by email.
Many more issues followed, unfolded and complicated all previous problems even further. I have no complaints about any of the branch representative that I worked with either trying to resolve a problem or just completing a normal transaction. I always left feeling like things were resolved and I was understood; however, it turns out that none of the problems that needed to be resolved, we're actually, within their system corrected even though we discussed and did some sort of follow through to resolve any one of my several problems. I don't know how that happened so many times. None of the requested "changes" made to my account, ever actually changed.
Once I could no longer tolerate trying to resolve issues over a bank account that I never wanted, and the compilation of issues was far too confusing to even start with a customer service representative... I just stopped using the accoun altogether and realized at some point that I no longereven had a debit card. I had a total of three bank account numbers, and I am not sure that even one of them is correct, which could have gotten me into a lot of trouble either trying to use a check, not realizing that there were multiple account numbers that were incorrect; making a deposit with a printed account number deposit slip, nor could I be verified on the customer service line having entered incorrect account numbers several times.
It turns out that my account did close itself in may of last year, and I know academy bank $39, of which cannot be I don't lysed or categorized as a specific fee, just a specific dollar amount. They have record of the date the account was closed and a dollar amount that i/o them, however they cannot pull up any information letting me know if there were any fraudulent charges or any of my last bank activity. It does not make sense to me that they would have record of a closing date and an iou date and amount with no explanation and no other information accessible. I believe the phone reps that I talk to you when they tell me they do not have access to certain information, however with the banks system this should be available within the short amount of time. If they have this much information on my account, including pulling up my correct account number, the other simple information should be available and accessible to the representatives in their system.
I am not one to ever take the time to fill out or call in a complaint, however this bank account has given me too many issues; pinched too much of my cash, of which I cannot afford at all; and has actually ruined my opportunities to open other bank accounts and has damaged my credit, contributing to a knockdown of my score down eight points. I have had excellent credit in the past, and have been hit by some fraudulent issues which has damaged my credit, and have had no way that excepted or prove anything to fix it. I did not need a simple checking account to further damage my credit. That is ridiculous, and as far as i'm concerned unheard of.
The tangled web of issues and problems with this bank that were fixed, but not fixed has caused too much frustration and I will not tolerate it any longer, and as mentioned, I had nor have any desire to even attempt to turn blue in the face explaining the problems to a customer service representative. It's really not worth my time or theirs. I do not want to, nor can I afford this unexplained, (Possibly fraudulent charges given that my debit card was lost months ago) , $39 I owe this bank... But, if that is what it takes to rectify my abandonment of the account (S!) , I will pay it, get out of it, and hopefully open a different bank account with better credentials. I don't know if it's their system that is faulty, or incompetent staff, but it does not matter. This is been the weirdest bank experience I have ever gone through, and I have had many various accounts categories including personal banking, business banking auto loan joint account and a savings accounts that all had far more details in transactions to take care of then this very simple checking account.
I have probably reiterated my point several times, but I am sure you this is only a summary of the issues with in such a small amount of time that I had with this bank. However, I would still like to include once again, that's all the staff, (Except for one individual) , was great. I really cannot say for sure if this number of people messed up and did not submit my needed changes, or the system just was notexcepting/submitting them at all. I just feel like I worked with a variety of branch representative that talked me through and understood, and fixed my problem all seemed knowledgeable and competent... With the exception of continuously, (Up to three) , giving me more incorrect account number starter packs that I feel is human error, unless they attempted to change my bank account number matching the new pack that they gave me without the system excepting it.
The bottom line: there is something seriously wrong with this bank company, and none of my issues were resolved...
... I no longer wanted to deal with them which has cost me far more money than I can afford to give away to absolutely nothing of use; nothing to show; or contributing to my normal charities. I just could not care because it became far too difficult and complicated to resolve since I had already attempted to resolve every issue I had one at a time that were the banks errors in the first place. I don't think I ever disputed any charge because they were legit and never showed in my account that I had set up anything otherwise.
I am apalled and grossly confused with academy bank and their process of running a personal checking account. It is the simplest thing a bank offers.
Please excuse the what I consider rambling; I have just not had the opportunity to even discuss this disgusted issue. Thank you for your request and willingness to read reported problems. I was not aware of this consideration, and i'm glad I was able to report such an odd experience with one of your associated businesses.

cancelled debit card while we were on vacation
Your bank canceled my sons debit card while he was on vacation in Mexico . they did not give him any other options for using money. they never sent a new one. When calling customer service you get put on hold forever. You have to repeat your information to many people. When you reach a supervisor they give you some tragic personal story to make you feel guilty about complaining. This is not the first time this is happened to us. this is the most despicable bank you can have an account with.
account closed with suspicion of fraud, now can't get money from returned items
I had two accounts opened @ Academy bank in Fenton, MO in November 2016, deposited $2, 000. On December 15th, account was closed all of a sudden saying "suspicious activity detected". I've used $2000 to buy books from Barnes & Nobles and Overstock and had to return them to get my money back. Academy Bank returned $544.61 (in two different checks). Now for the past month and a half, I have no idea where my money is. Barnes & Nobles and Overstock says money was returned to my Academy Bank account, but Academy Bank says they never received it because I don't have an account there. I have lost close to $1, 460 by doing business with them.

I have used Academy Bank for the past 5 years and am closing my account this weekend. Your team has arbitrarily removed my account access at any given time multiple times over the last 5 years with zero warning.
This happened once again this morning, when I had a minor emergency and needed to transfer funds from my savings to my checking account. Upon trying to login, I received an "invalid access token" error and was unable to access my account for 1.5 hours - that is, until I went to work. I was able to login at work, but not on my home computer which raises concerns about the security of my online account.
Anyway, I called this morning to try and have this resolved and was on hold for NINE minutes before hanging up - not ever having gotten hold of one person - and resorting to the chat option. I do not prefer the chat option because I tend to get an attitude from the people I've spoken with.
Additionally, your company changed the routing number on my account without informing me - I believe during 2015 or 2016 - making me late on my bills one month. After this was done - without my permission OR consent - I asked for new checks that reflect this new number, and your company told me I needed to BUY MY OWN - Regardless of the fact that I was supplied with about 5 books of checks when I first opened my account.
It is absolutely unacceptable to have removed access to my bank account without informing me, not once, but multiple times over the past 5 years and arbitrarily change my account information without ONCE letting me know beforehand.
Because of these experiences, your company has hurt my credit standing and personal finances. For these reasons. Your company's incompetence could be considered criminal in some circles, given the apparent recklessness and apathy when it comes to protecting personal information, not to mention the lack of regard for timely and clear communication regarding my account.
I would highly recommend your company be investigated for the reason that I'm not the only one who has experienced these SERIOUS issues, as evidenced by other reviews and complaints.

On Aug 22 I closed out my checking and savings with Academy Bank the teller gave me about 100.00 back when I closed my accounts. Come to find out the teller didn't do what had to be done to say I closed them she just cleaned the money out. So the account wasn't closed in the banks eyes and way paying out automatic withdraws that I had not yet got untouched with.Witch if the teller did her part on the computer wouldn't of been able to be paid out...I don't believe that I should have to pay the 300 and something that the bank pd out after I had closed my accounts...
