By far the worst bank I have ever worked with! Opened a joint account. Took me 6 trips to the branch location to get my mailing address correct, just to find out that as of today it still has not been changed. Information given to me about overdraft was completely incorrect! Mobile deposit info was also wrong. Took me 4 months to get checks, and I was charged twice for those! Then I go to use my card at the store, I get an error message saying enter an amount under 2 million! The very next day I get a new debit card in the mail... No idea why. Two weeks later I receive a letter saying my account has been compromised and I should be receiving a new card shortly... Um, ok guess that explains the new card. Now I have a daily account limit to help protect my account? Thanks, cause now I can't buy or pay anything over $300. I do have bills larger than that. Manager at tower road location is worthless! Customer service referred me back to the branch I opened my account at. Awful! If I ever get this mess straighten out, i'm closing my accounts! Lost my business. I have since transferred all my payroll etc to another bank!
corruption, stealing money from customers
Every check I deposit into my money market account is being stolen by Academy Bank. They claim they are taking the fees because I don't have direct deposit. This is corrupt because no where does it state in writing that you must have direct deposit to avoid excessive fees. Every time I deposit a check, they take the whole amount and say it's because I don't have direct deposit. I am closing my account immediately and reporting this to the commissioner of banking.
What do the terms and conditions of the account you signed state? Nearly every bank charges fees for not having direct deposit.

On April 2, 2016, I went into Academy Bank located in Apache Junction, Arizona, in side of Walmart Super store on Main street. I had a check for $961.60. by the way let me introduce myself..I am Edmund Gerry Baruela Tablac of legal age who lives in Batangas City. Philippines I am the eldest son ...my mother Mrs Evangeline Baruela Tablac 67 years old an American Citizen lives in Colorado and came home here in the Philippines for a vacation...because my mother suffered a mild stroke she has a blurry speech and a blurry vision so while taking her vacation here in the philippines she already runned out of her medicines maintenance as a diabetic patient so my mother authorized me to withdraw her money from the atm at The Bank of the Philippine Island...so we use her money for her daily consumption esp food etc... support her medical needs esp her medicines and everything went well ...now at this month of february first week I went to the Bank of the Philippine Islands to withdraw only a partial went out with a max of 15, 000 pesos... the following day went back to withdraw the other half which is 15, 000 pesos and ive mistakenly press the atm code twice atm says trans action denied then for the third time i did the correct code but to no longer avail of the trans action so i tried to call yer bank a couple of times and lately we spoke one of your bank representative told me my mothers acct was hold because the company thought my mothers Atm was lost or stolen ...so we were instructed to send her id and my id too for verification in order to re activate my mothers Atm so attached is my Drivers license my mothers blue passport and photos

I have been a customer of Academy Bank Since 2001, I have been the greatest fan of the bank since then. I had my wife Open a probate account with Academy Bank.
With the unprofessional manner this issue was handled I have to l say this, it has been the worst I have ever seen in my life.
They had 10 days prior to the inactivity to contact us.
1. They closed the account with no reason, no prior mail, email or call.
2. When talking to them on the phone, the only thing that
anyone would say is, we can not disclose the information and we have decided not to do business with you/my wife
anymore.
3. We had to call in and were disconnected several times with no call back.
4. Long wait times over and over.
This placed bills that needed to be paid by the administrator(my wife) into possible foreclosure and credit jeopardy.
Also the Possibility of causing financial loss to us personally.
Tomorrow I will start a process to remove my personal accounts from this institution. And will not longer bank with Academy Bank.

I wish I would of took the advice of others about this bank. On January 17th 2013 I went into Academy bank and asked them to activate my new card and deactivate my old one and destroy it. They told me it was taken care of. Then on February 8th 2013 someone used my old card to make 6 different transactions and they got $1400.00 out of my account. They were able to use my PIN number to do this. Academy bank doesn't send alerts or stop suspicious transactions like most banks. When I checked my account I called them and they told me to file a report and that I would have to wait till Tuesday for the transactions to stop pending. Then on Tuesday they told me I had to wait 10 days for them to give me a credit and that the investigation would take 90 days. Next I get a letter saying they denied my claim. And when I called them I was told it wasn't detailed enough and to refile it. Even know the supervisor at the bank said my report was fine and faxed it in for me. They said I would have to wait another 10 days. I tried to explain to them I work for my money and have bills and a child to feed. I also need to pay rent and they couldn't care less. After banking with them for years I never imagined that I would be treated like this and now I may not have my money back in time to pay rent. I know I never lost my card or gave anyone my PIN number so it seems to me that when I turned my old card in at the bank the lady never deactivated and just put a new pin on it after I left. If they would of just deactivated it none of this would of happened in the first place. I also found out they over charged my grandparents and made them wait 90 days to get there money back. And just this week a lady I work with had $300.00 taken out of her account and there giving her the run around as well trying to get her money back. Other people I work with have told me they closed there accounts with Academy bank after having charges show up they never made. I just hope I can get my money back and close my account with them.

I have had the same issue and a coworker warned me about them a few months back as he was wiped out clean from his bank account. It was a huge process to get his money back. I know that in January I put a protection and paid the extra money to protect my account and I noticed my account was wiped clean. Called the contact center and they are closed, so no help til Monday morning when I go into the office. I am livid and scared that this will take forever like so many stories I have heard. Too bad that the bank doesn't take care of their customers and protect their finances better.
