I recently went into the Academy Sports and Outfitters located here in Wichita Falls, TX to shop for items for school for my two high school students. I was very disappointed to realize that this Academy did not sell any school apparel for Hirschi High School. Wichita Falls has three public high schools in town but they only had a display of items from the other two high schools ranging from basketball shorts to hoodies with the school logo on them. I asked Kim, who was very helpful, why Academy did not stock and sell Hirschi HS apparel. She stated that they do not sell enough Hirschi HS merchandise and the “buyers” decided not to purchase any more of these items. I relayed to Kim that Hirschi students would not have been disappointed if Academy chose to purchase a SMALL amount of Hirschi merchandise, but to not purchase any merchandise was a slap in the face to my children who are proud to attend Hirschi HS as well as the other students, teachers, alumni, etc. I also mentioned that of course Academy did not sell as much Hirschi HS merchandise as they did for the other schools because the other High Schools have double the students at WFHS and almost triple the number at Rider HS.
The fact that Academy did not purchase any Hirschi merchandise due to the fact that they did not sell very much merchandise was very frustrating to me since they have sold Hirschi apparel in the past.(which I have bought and many other people have bought since I see them wearing the same shirts in the community and at different functions that I purchased at Academy) If Academy is part of the Wichita Falls community, I believe that they need to represent the WHOLE community. Sometimes businesses make decisions that is just good PR for the community even though they may not make tons of money on a certain project. I definitely understand that the 600-700 students enrolled at Hirschi HS is a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of students which attend the other two public High Schools in the city, but you would think that just so Academy would not alienate a particular set of people, they would at least make a minimal effort to order some merchandise to represent each public high school. I guess Academy does not realize that Hirschi High school students, parents, alumni, supporters and friends buy more items besides just Hirschi merchandise at Academy. Just two weeks ago my daughter and I ran into Academy and spent almost $100 on items she needed for Volleyball camp.
My children and I came upon the High School display after shopping for school shoes, soccer cleats, back packs and pool supplies. Not looking for Hirschi apparel at the time, but after seeing the HS display we were very interested in purchasing some items for school. After speaking with Kim, as pleasant as she was, I left the store without purchasing anything! If Academy does not care to represent each public school in the community, then I do not care to spend my money at Academy. If the 600-700 students stopped shopping at Academy including the parents, alumni, supporters and friends, I wonder if all of a sudden it would suddenly become in Academy’s best interest to represent each public high school! I can definitely say that I am telling this story to everyone I come in contact with. People who are Hirschi supporters or not! Even some of the students and parents who attend the other high schools were shocked about Academy’s deliberate decision to exclude Hirschi High School merchandise from their purchase list.
Poor customer service and took my money!
I ordered (2) rawling youth players series 9 t-ball gloves left hand gloves for a right hand throw. The order came in 9 days later and to my boys disappointment they both were right hand gloves for left hand throw. I called that same night and talked to customer service and was assured I would be taking care of and have the correct gloves out to me in two days, but that I needed to pay for shippin on the gloves back to them and once they recived them I would be refunded that money.
I told my boys the gloves would be here on fri and they never showed. Saturday my boys are asking where there gloves are, I figured for sure they would be here mon! Well monday came and went and still no gloves so I call academy sports, and was told that those gloves are discontinued and that I should have been sent an e-mail, problem is I was never sent that e-mail only my order confirmation e-mail! Nice academy sports you guys really dropped the ball on this one! 2 full weeks 2 orders and no gloves! What a joke! Good luck if this is the way u run a business! On top of that they were supposed to refund my full shipping costs and they refunded 1/2 of the cost! They are crooks!
Ammunition
I have been trying since Jan 1st to purchase 22 Ammo from this store. I go to this store 4-5 times a week checking on the status of the ammunition. The last 3 times that I went in I observed Gun Dept employees with 22 ammunition checking out at the return register. What happened to the so called customer loyalty. If I have observed this happening 3 times, how many more times is this happening, and the customers are going without. There is a local sporting goods store in town that does have ammunition at a slightly higher price. I have decided to stop doing business with Academy and support my locally owned store

Such a long customer service delay, I have had time to register, file a complaint and am only a fewer steps nearer checkout... Clerk said manager was present. Terrible service... Store needs a new manager, customers unhappy and manager nowhere to be seen. Will shop elsewhere from now on... Bass pro here I come

Go to Bass Pro Shops in Rockwall Texas. It is always clean and the staff is helpful. The Academy in Mesquite has a bad customer base. They are hood rats trying to get everything for free. They are most likely on welfare and food stamps. Bass has a better store with better shoppers. You are treated better by the staff and do not have to shop around thieves and low class people. The selection is great and their are no opened packages and half eaten candy bars and drinks. The people on that side of town have manners and education and kids that behave. Thank You.
Academy could cate less about how they run their store or who they hire. KKR took over and all they care about is getting money. I used to work at the Academy Sports and Outdoors across from Town East Mall in Mesquite. The management makes the schedule and puts the associates from 5pm to 2:30 in the morning and I had school at 8am in the morning. People work late and are expected to come in very early the next morning aftet 2 hours of sleep. Also we had lots of people quit and walk out because the customers are rude and complaining. No one wants to work with them. There are tons of gang members and cars get broken into daily and Academy does nothing. If you leave your car in the parking lot, you will be taking a risk. The store is dirty and not swept daily. No one wants to work there and associates complain daily. Associates are exhausted from the long days. Most of the customers have 5 kids and they tear up the whole store. They take candy and drinks and do not pay for them. The customers ate the worse ever. Dirty filthy and crazy. I just never went back.. I do not know how decent people can stand shopping there. So disorganized and never enough help.
They think I stole a shirt
I have gone to Mesquite Academy (TX) on 7/14/11 to exchange basketball court. Which they said I have to bring it in... they won't come and pick it up... well that didn't go very well.
Then I thought of buying few things. Bad idea... I bought 3 shirts, 2 pants, and a basketball. For some reason it was $95 which I didn't expect. So I told the cashier (Mark) to take the basketball. Which I thought he did. But on my way I was checking the receipt and found out he charged for the basketball and took something else out. So I went back thinking I should just take the basketball home (at this time I didn't realize he scanned one of the shirts twice). NOOO that didn't happen. I spent next one and half hour explaining I didn't steal any "socks" and then after checking their video it was a "shirt" I stole this time. I told them repeatedly I am not hiding any shirt anywhere. I didn't even go home yet. I even told them that they can go and check my car. My kids were with me and I told them they are witness for what I bought now and I wouldn't lie in front of them. Finally I realized that it’s a useless argument, so I told them to return my money back. OK, they started to do that...and $65 what they were going to give me. I told them I need all my money I spent. Thankfully they returned all my money along with the amount they over charged. I am glad it happened this way because otherwise they would’ve taken extra $13 from me without me knowing… I wasn’t paying any attention to anything. I learned my lesson that I should never leave the store without confirming the receipt is correct…
Why there was so much confusion? This cashier took out a shirt from the receipt instead of basketball and he put that shirt back in my bag and took the basketball and put it away. He also scanned another shirt twice and now they think I have two same shirts, which I don’t have… Now the receipt shows 6 items but I only have 5 items
So they want that “invisible shirt” back. Without returning that "invisible shirt" I wasn't going to get the basketball nor are they not going to take the basketball back. I feel sorry for these people...the manager, another girl who was trying to figure it all out, and the cashier. The thing that surprised me most was that they were trying to hide the cashier's fault and make it as my fault. We also run business and always the customers come first no matter what... I have been shopping this store for more than 10 yrs. I never had any problem like this happened to me before and never complained where I should I've complained about... I will never go back to this store again...

I used to shop at the Town East Mesquite store and I could never get any help. Merchandise always tagged wrong and store was very messy. Just a bunch of young people playing with each other and talking. It is like they let out a yellow school bus. I saw this older employee slap this younger girl employee right on the butt in front of customers. My husband waited 20 minutes at the fishing area for help. We decided not to shop there and go to Dicks. Dicks sporting goods has better quality merchandise and employees who offer help. Natashia Woods
I went to academy in Shreveport, LA today to buy and rod and reel. I saw a set put together and liked it, so I brought it to the register. I was told to come to one side and informed if I didn't cooperate I would be charged with FRAUD. I've never been in trouble before so I panicked and told them I would do whatever they needed me to. I had to sign a document saying I would not set foot on any academy grounds or I would be charged with trespassing. Still freaking out, I agreed. It's a good thing I don't frequent the store too much. I have alot of hunting and fishing friends who do though and they were just as outraged as I was.
Voyeur peep-hole in dressing room
This has gone on for several months at least one year. The dressing rooms are unisex in the clothing department, i.e. swim wear, athletic clothing, etc. so, I assume that motivated the hole drilled in the thin wall of the room divider about waist high in the dressing room. I noticed a small round piece of putty on the wall and I was shocked to see what it covered. It was reusable putty like used to hang posters, so it can be removed and reapplied keeping it's sticky form. The hole it hides, gives a perfectly clear view into the adjoining dressing room. I told an employee, and the manager. Then, over 12 months later the hole, hidden with a perfect ball of putty, remain unrepaired. I will never allow my daughter or any friend or family to shop there.
Painted entrance ramp - slippery when wet
Ramp leading into store is painted and becomes slippery when wet. One does not realize the ramp is painted because it is painted gray and blends in with gray concrete both before and after ramp. When it rains, the ramp becomes slippery or not paint the ramp at all. They should put grit in the paint to keep it from getting slippery. They also should paint it...

I am deeply disturbed by the way the store manager carried himself today with my complaint. It was one that I do not just come up to anyone and talk about toilet paper but his responses are troubling. I asked him, Mr. Eric Garcia why the womens' bathroom had no toilet paper and his smirk was a bad start but he stated he was sorry but he was more than sure other stalls had them. I told him, as the matter of fact none of the women's stalls had them. In fact as I was complaing to my daughter about this an employee of Academy joined in my converstation and stated, "They had to put up with that too". I told this to Mr. Garcia, his response was "Who is this employee?" That information was irrelevant but he stayed with that demanding to know whom she was...Really what did that matter? I protected her identity. He went on to "Assure" me that the men had toilet paper, and I asked him if he was discriminating against women? He went on to ask me if I knew what the word discrimination means before I went to the store and accuse him of such a thing! I responded to him that he had just told me that the men's stall had toilet paper but none of the women's bathroom stalls did! I responded is that not discrimination? I told him I was going to call corpooration and he laughed and stated he did not care and to go ahead and call with my complaint. Is this what you call good customer service? He proudly displayed his badge to me and showed me so many years of service to your company.! You should be ashamed of yourself for having someone like him leading your brand new store in Mcallen, Texas. It is not ony unsanitary, unethical, immoral and yes discriminating against women! His female employees are of no concern to him? I asked two cashier clerks for his name and they responded they did not know his name! GOOD TRAINING! Proud of your high standards of customer satisfaction! I have you know this complaint is going on the web since there is no way to make this right! However I am demanding a personal letter of apology from this so called Manager Garcia since he thinks I did not have an IQ! For your companies information I am a Crimnal Justice Bachelor Degreed woman of intigrity, high moral standards and fight for fair justice to all!

Customer service
My mom and I were shopping in the store and an employee came up to my mom as she was looking for something and said "Honey be careful those are juniors." It made my mom feel horrible about herself, she felt fat and just depressed. I think my mom knows what she is shopping for and where it is so for the employee to come to her and say that I thought was inappropriate.
