Unfair Towing Experience at Ace Hardware: No Warning, No Customer Respect
So, I had a pretty rough experience with Ace Hardware. Let me tell you, these folks are something else. I was heading to work on a Friday morning, and wouldn't you know it, there was a carnival in town. My usual parking spot was blocked off, so I had to improvise. I found a small lot by a candy store and a closed theater, and it was the closest spot to the one-way road I needed to get to. I parked my car and went to work, thinking everything was fine.
Fast forward a few hours, and I come back to find my car has been towed. Can you believe it? Apparently, the lot I parked in belonged to Ace Hardware, and they decided to tow my car without any warning. Now, I'm not one to complain, but there was no sign indicating that it was Ace Hardware customer parking only. I even took pictures to prove it. The only sign I could find was on the back of the Ace Hardware building, and it only said "Ace Hardware customer parking. No overnight parking." Overnight? I wasn't parked there overnight, and the sign wasn't even visible from where I was parked.
To make matters worse, I had no way of getting to my car, which was three miles away. I don't even live in this town, so I was really stuck. It was supposed to be a happy holiday weekend, but instead, I was dealing with this mess. I decided to take action and contacted Ace Hardware's corporate office. They agreed to send me a check to cover the cost of the illegal tow, but that's not enough for me. I'm going to make sure everyone knows about this terrible experience by leaving negative reviews everywhere I can.
Overall, I'm really disappointed with Ace Hardware. They could have handled this situation better, and I don't appreciate being towed without any warning. I hope they change their policy and start treating their customers with more respect.
Inaccurate Inventory description on Ace.com
3 times I have looked on ace.com for their Nickerson Blvd location in Hampton Virginia for particular items, and after confirming they carried the product(s) I was looking for I would take a trip to Ace and the first 2 times I bought other items but this morning, June 10, 2023, I had only 1 item I needed and it was, avery rectangular white labels 525 count, and after the employee looked the item up on the computer he said they had them in their warehouse but not in the store I spoke to a total of 3 employees and not 1 could tell me who is responsible for the upkeep of the inventory on ace.com
Sad I liked ace but I believe I will take my business elsewhere. From now on.
Desired outcome: Whoever is responsible for the Inventory of the website and their physical locations needs to do a much better job there's always someone needing a job and willing to do it correctly!

Customer service
I was just in your continental ranch store in Marana to purchase a shovel. Online you had a shovel listed for 19.99 no where did it say online purchase only but it did say in stock at the store. Needless to say the price was not corrected at the register. So I left it with you and am very dissatisfied with your customer service. I purchased a different item at a competitor. It seems it is always a waste of time to shop at Ace.

I ordered 2 Andersen window screens to be replaced. Took a week to get them and they are not tight and an extremely poor job was done on them. They look wavy and very embarassing to put on my front windows of my home.
I was quoted under $50.00 for both screens and my husband went today to pick them up and they charged him $80.68 which is ridiculous! And they look like total crap with the loose wavy screens. Need to train someone to fix them right.
I won't be shopping at this store again due to price descrepancy and extremely poor workmanship.
Desired outcome: Will never shop there again.
A complete full refund would be nice but I know this post probably won't even get seen.
Fraudulent ace hardware website offering free milwaukee drill set if you take survey
I just clicked on an Ace Hardware website which offered a free Milwalkee drill set for tking a short survey. It requested that I pay the postage of $4.99.
It also offered a mustery box present for an additionl $3.99. I declined the mystery box, but the website would not process the original credit card transaction, and stopped the transaction from completing.
not long after I received a malware warning from my Norton antivirus. I cancelled my credit card with the bank.
Please advise.

Pruner for cutting small branches
I bought a "Ace" pruner from my local Ace Hardware store on April 2, 2023. When I tried to use it I found it impossible for me to use. I could not trim even the small branches with it. I could not close it for storage. I went back to Ace Hardware and explained my problem and explained that I wanted to exchange it for something I could use. I had my receipt but was told that because I did not have the original packaging, they could not help me.
Customer service at this store is below minimum. I am an elderly lady and the service at this store is unbelieveable.
Royal paint
Bought a Gallon of Royal paint from ACE in Alturas, CA. I used a very small amount and stored it for a month or so. Then started to finish the project and the paint had separated and hardened at the bottom. Took it back to the store and basically was told tough luck. This is after being a customer of ACE since 1970 and the one in Alturas since 2008. I have spent tens of thousands at ACE rehabbing houses yet when I had a problem with one of their problems I get to bed? I contacted corporate and they don't give a damn either. This is after being a loyal customer 50 years... A gallon of Royal cost $40 yet they are willing to tell a customer to bad. First, I guess it is time to put my loyalties at Lowes or Home Depot. Second, a warning to other customers... Do not buy royal paint... It separates when you do not use it right away and then when you try to return it they do not back their product... Just one more example of corporate America not giving a damn about those that keep them in business... Ever wonder why America is circling the drain... Here is one big reason... Zero respect and loyalty by corporations to their loyal customers. I tried to exchange this gallon today, 02/24/2023... As a disabled senior citizen, I am on a fixed income and rely on honesty of a company to do jobs economically and efficiently...
Rewards card/periodic discount mailers
It just came to my attention that not only do all customers NOT receive these discount mailers, some customers NEVER RECEIVE THEM. My partner just celebrated her birthday, and she received the birthday discount mailer. When I inquired as to why I did not receive one a couple of weeks earlier, I was told by both store employees and two people at Ace.com that I may never receive a birthday discount mailer. What this corporate decision indicates is that all of their customers are perceived differently(amount of money spent in the last fiscal year, not making enough purchases, amount spent on each purchase occasion, …). This seems like a blatant attempt to specifically affect certain customers, thereby denying them the same privileges as ALL OF THE CUSTOMERS enter any of their stores. Because of this, as well as the sneaky way they lure you in to make a specific purchase, only to then be told that the promotional discount does not apply to the item the customer is interested in buying, I long ago stopped shopping at their stores. It all starts at the top.
Desired outcome: EVERY customer should receive the birthday discount coupon EVERY YEAR on their birthday, not just “select” customers. Once again, another example of corporate America NOT DOING WHAT IS IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF ITS CONSUMERS.
Service department for Ace hardware Bozeman MT
This complaint is about the Parts and Service of Ace Hardware Bozeman MT, the 8695 Huffine Lane address.
On 1/30 I brought my entire snow blower into this location because it was not running right. It would run for a few minutes and die. Just to be clear, the snow blower would start and run great for a few minutes and die, at that point it would not start.
When I talked to the guy at that desk to say what the snow blower was doing and that it did have old gas from last year and that it could be a dirty carburetor his response was "How much do you want to spend?". At that point I got a bad feeling and I should have walked away. But I left it with them to fix.
You can see from the picture that I sent that shows the paper work in items number 4 and 5 it shows that the only thing that they did to fix the issue was clean the carburetor (and replace the primer bulb line). You can also see that they charged me $98.15 to clean the carb.
I paid for the service and brought the snow blower home.
After the next snow fall I tried to use the snow blower and it was doing the same thing. I decided to see if I could fix the snow blower and took off the cover that was over the carb and you can see from the pictures the carb was filthy. It doesn't look like anyone has touched it, let alone clean it. You can see from the pictures that the clamp to the fuel line was never touched and the nuts holding the carb on the snow blower were also not touched.
I took the carb off of the snow blower and on 2/20 I brought them back into the service department to show them the pictures and the still dirty carb, and the paperwork showing that they said they cleaned the carb. With the dirty carb in their had they still said that they cleaned it.
I can't see how they can tell me that they cleaned the carb with the way the carb looked.
Ace 40 lb wild bird food
Advertisements available in the store feature "National Bird-Feeding Month" $20 for a 40-pound bag. The only problem is there aren't any 40-pound bags available. On Tuesday we were told to come back the next day. We went back and they said that no 40-pound bags were delivered to the store. We asked for 2 - 20-pound bags at the same price. We were told "no"...

I have been a customer of Ace Hardware since 1984 and buy ALL of my hardware needs at Ace. You might say I am a loyal customer. I also belong to the Ace rewards program, although I only use my rewards when they align with my hardware needs. Recently, I need to purchase 2 of the 1lb propane bottles so I visited the Ace Hardware store in Sahuarita, AZ. Since my Ace Reward card requires a $20 purchase for a $5.00 reward, I elected to buy 4 of these bottles. When I checked out I gave the cashier my rewards card and he said that my purchase didn't qualify. The items I attempted to but were NOT on sale as per the front of the card, so I asked for a manager to look into this. He said that there were further restrictions on the back of the card (in extremely small print) and there are 250+ words on the back of the card, one of which is "fuel." He said that was the reason the reward was rejected. I find this practice tacky, deceiving and unethical, and as a result you have lost an Ace customer forever. I will now fill my hardware needs at True Value, Tractor Supply, Home Depot or WalMart. Never again will I shop Ace. The manager could of compensated the $5.00 but obviously he was not "customer oriented" either. There is a saying that a customer will tell 1 or 2 people about a positive experience with a business but will tell 10 or more of an unhappy experience. I have since far exceeded that due to e-mails, Facebook and local organizations. I am certain this will cost Ace far more than $5.00.
Desired outcome: How can you possibly restore my loyalty to Ace Hardware?

I have been shopping at ACE for birdseed for years. I have a frequent flyer card for 24.99 off of my 10th bag. I’ve now been told that I can’t use that off of the price and instead I have to buy something 24.99 or cheaper. My birdseed has increased in price by 50%. Please explain why I can’t just get $24.99 off the $37.99 price. It makes zero sense. I will no longer shop for birdseed as I feel this is incredibly unfair.
Desired outcome: Letting my use $24.99 coupon for I want.

the list of fine print exclusions is so long and so imprecise (... any other items that each participating store may designate...) is so almost bait and switch misleading as to be an insult to this customer and can require me to make a trip to the store and bring an item to the register before I might fine out that store exclude that item!
Seems to border on a fraudulent attempt to increase store / saie volume with no easy path to know in advance what might be excluded - despite the front of the coupon that states "any one regularly priced item? Maybe it should state" a few"or some selected" or? - instead of "any one"... the "exclusions apply" is so large and open-ended as to make the coupon extremely deceptive. Shame on you.
Desired outcome: Reword coupon - or have it apply to all regularly priced items - no exclusions-
Parts for ACE Home & Garden Sprayer 7437668
I have 2 of these sprayers and both have lost the spray tip due to the design. I have gone to local store and they do not carry the part. The sprayer is useless without the tip. The tip screw on and depending on how tight or loose it is screwed on, it determines the spray pattern from a stream to a nice mist spray.
My local store does not show the part available on their computer system.
this is very frustrating as the sparyers are rendered useless as a result.
Desired outcome: Let me know the part number and where can I buy the replacement part.
Amount of time it took to dig eight holes and set the posts
On the dates of November 14 and 16th of this month 2022. It took way too much time for eight posts to be installed and still not enough concrete was poured in the holes to help guard against early decay or insect activity. The down parts of the fence were not attached to new posts because all the time went into installing the new posts. The contractor used a hold digger that was manual which caused too time to get the job done.
It took him ten hours to just do what I described above at a cost to me of $1200. Yes, I do feel that I should get reimbursed for some of that cost. However, you can decide how much. I chose the company based on the strength of the ACE Hardware name.

Credit card fraud.
Today 11/20/2022 in the early morning about 7 am I got and email from Ace telling me I had won a DeWalt set of batter operated drills with charges and all the attachments. I just had to complete the questions asked. I did as requested and was told that I would be required to pay shipping. I filled out the paperwork and gave my credit card info. I was then told that my prize would be delivered in 7 to 9 days. I asked that they confirmed that I was dealing with ACE and they sent me and email confirming I was.
A few hours later I was called by my bank saying my credit card was being used to buy makeup and did I approve this. I said no and they told me they are cancelling my card and will start and investigation.
I called your office and was told to complete the form, and someone would help me. They said to complete the attached paperwork and they would then talk with me. I could not do the paperwork because the wanted my credit card number to charge me for their help.
I called a list of numbers listed at your web site and finally got someone to give me your contact info.

I have the email that was sent to me but the is more info that I want to list.
Calling before10 am or after 3 pm is best.

M18 Compact 2- tool combo kit
I bought the Compact 2-tool combo kit and when I went to charge the batteries, they just flashed red/green and when I checked to see what that met, it showed that the battery defected. I took it back to the store that I bought it from, and they gave exchanged it with another one and when I got home and charged the battery in the one, I just got it did the same thing. I am returning this one and I will have to find someplace else to go as they don't have any more for me to exchange. I asked if I could just get the batteries and I was told no that it would miss up their inventory. I am very upset with this as I need these tools for work. I shop at this Ace store all the time for work. The store I go to is in Kent, OH.

I, filled out the survey on October 10, 2022. They stated that I needed to pay $4.95 to cover the shipping for the Nikita Tool set. I, provided My Card information and they charged $56.97 to My card payable to DigitalGreenplacecom. and another $6.99 was charged to End Game Electronics.
I, did not authorize any charges above the $4.95 to come from My Card.
Apparently a scam, using ACE HARDWARE!
