taking advantage of customers facing snowstorm: no returns allowed
Hello, I previously wrote to you from your website and received no reply. My complaint is that in the third week of January, when we were expecting a blizzard in Maryland, I went to Zimmerman's Ace Hardware in Burtonsville, MD to purchase ice melt. I am a 66-year-old woman and did not know how much to buy. I purchased four bags @ $19.99 apiece, one 8-lb...

Big sign posted in front window - "ace storewide sale 20% off" made purchase - $115.00 of fertilizer, made transaction, questioned why no discount. told by clerk "oh that doesn't cover certain items". wait a minute - sign says everything is on sale, no mention of exclusions. i'll shop at lowes from now on - so much for trying to support local small business!
Oh yes - been a customer there for many years. no more!
bad return policy
Sedona is a small town of @ 10-15, 000 residents. I always do my best to shop locally and support the community. Although the Sedona ACE Hardware store is locally owned ? they apparently have the nasty big city attitude toward their customers. Today, Jan 20, 2016 I went to my local ACE Hardware store in Sedona, AZ. I intended to return some electrical part...
Read full review of Ace Hardwareflexible aluminum duct #48551 $8.99
I have no complaint what so ever with Duda Hardware. My complaint is with the aforementioned Flexible duct #48551. The flexible duct itself was well made and easy to install. My problem came when I had tighten the clamps that were supplied in the kit. Neither of the could be easily tightened enough to secure the duct to the outlet of dryer. I finally gave up on them & had to make an extra trip to the store to purchase 2 quality clamps made of metal with a securing screw to easily tighten the clamps on the very 1st try. I would suggest the manufacture that supplies this item in future include 2 quality zip ties so the poor soul that purchases this kit would proud of the ease that 2 quality zip ties would provide. An easy fix for this complaint. I hope Someone will read this and seek a solution with the company responsible for this kit. Thanks: Foster Oglesby
craftsman tools
Concerning sears craftsman tools as advertised by ace hardware stores: hand tools can be exchanged under warranty if they have it. no arrangement will be made for you if not in that particular stores stock. further more, a 12 point, 1/2 inch drive, 5/8 inch socket that is broken will not be exchanged for a new one because the part number must match to the old one that you are returning. furthermore, that manager had no interest in the fact that a local sears store was now closed permanently. suggesting to this manager that craftsman tools in-stock may be expanded in order to satisfied more business, quote: "no wall space". three, rather common sockets, I returned today for exchange were not in any way replaced by a rather "stuffy" manager.
In store marketing
Kirby and Nick Kuklenski, what are you doing? You own this Denver Ace store and 2 others. You are part of an agreement that allows Front Range Installers (FRI) to do In-store marketing at this North Denver store and stores in Colorado Springs. Have you ever investigated FRI’s business operations? Do you know that the marketers in your stores are being illegally misclassified as Independent Contractors by FRI, based on a non-compliant agreement that violates Colorado and federal requirements/laws? What’s more, I agreement and FRIs management violates almost all of the Colorado required clauses and requirements for actual contractors. It’s the same problem for the IRS and their requirements for Independent Contractors. FRI dictates our dates, times and locations to work. We follow your dress, grooming and behavior requirements. We are managed like employees but not paid unemployment or any other benefits like FICA. No tax withholding either. You are enabling illegal business practices to go on under your own roof, and you are supporting an operation that tarnishes your brand, your stores and your integrity. BTW, FRI owes me money for the last work I did and they are refusing to pay. I strongly encourage all consumers to avoid Mile High Ace Hardware and Garden in Denver (near 104th and Federal), Uintah Gardens Ace hardware and Hancok Plaza Ace hardware, both in Colorado Springs.
ace rewards card
Ace rewards card. Ace Hardware stores, Hastings, Mich.. I am a consumer of Ace products for last 50 years and since they have started their so called rewards card I have not received any rewards card money back in the last 3 years. No. 1 they lost my email address. No. 2 the rewards cards are being spent by other people and not the person using the card?. Wonder who's making a killing on this scam. I complained to Ace Hardware's complaint dept. and got the run around again. They will not reimburse me for the past 3 years where they had not compensated me for all the products I buy there. If they don't make it right real soon. I will discontinue doing business there and go to Menards and extra 60 miles out of my way. I will also post on facebook my experience.

rude clerk
I went into the store to buy 2 plastic wading pools. I stood patiently by the display, near a check-out stand, while a clerk helped a customer get checked out by a cashier. They smiled, talked, and had a good visit while I waited. As they finished the clerk walked nearby where I was standing, so I asked him the price of the pools. He gave me a very irritated look and told me in a very rude manner that I would have to ask a cashier or someone else, he had other stuff to do. If he had given me a friendly, customer service smile, and said I'd have to check with the cashier, then I'd have no problem. But he was very rude about it, and walked away toward the back of the store. The cashier was very friendly and provided me with the store number and the clerk's name, which is LARRY. " The helpful hardware place" indeed. Larry obviously had no interest in what I may have needed to purchase.
I will attatch copy of my register reciept.

possible fraudulent site
Ordered items on Acehardwaresuperstore.com and then was told that items were not available, but they had already charged my credit card. I requested they cancel the order & give me full refund. They sent me an email confirming cancellation & refund credit. Six weeks later, the refunded credit has yet to appear on my credit card statement. Contacting them is useless, because the call goes to voice mail. My next step will be to file a dispute with the credit card company for the $49 they stole from me. BUYER BEWARE...This Acehardwaresuperstore site may look like an official Ace Hardware site, but it isn't. It is some sort of rip off racket. Acehardwaresuperstore.com is definately a scam site. You WILL lose your money!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
After charging expensive shipping, they try to convince you they need another 125% because they were too incompetent to include it in their automated checkout procedure.
Attempts to try and get them to waive the upcharge were met with denial that they had any control over the pricing. They don't have a clue.
DO NOT BUY from acehardwaresuperstore.com
poor service, you will regret it if you do.
This company is a pure con! I am shocked that the Police or FBI has not shut this business down yet! They are in no way associated with ACE Hardware but use their logo and name on their website. It is a ethnic woman who runs this out of a SOD supply office. It is a complete scam! I ordered some furniture from their site, they immediately charged my credit card, and added a huge shipping fee. The merchandise NEVER arrived! When I called to inquire, they were extremely rude and could not even give me a tracking number! When I told them I wanted to cancel the order, the woman just laughed on the phone and said we all ready have your money... too late! Please avoid this company, they are committing fraud pure and simple!
Attracts you with bargain prices but greatly overcharge for shipping (I.e more than items cost) before and after placing an order. Customer service/employees who answer the phones are unqualified immigrants pulled off the street. We were lucky to get a refund or at least they said in email and on the phone that we would.
Ditto what others are saying: unresponsive to message sent with order, charged immediately, sent the wrong product a week later, now unresponsive to requests to return the product. This place is a joke. Take your money elsewhere.
This place is awful. Ordered 6 one gallon cans of ethanol they were listed at 1.60 per can on the website. I was sent a confirmation with the cost of the six cans and $25 for shipping. I waited two weeks and received nothing. I called the store to be told I waited for nothing. They canceled my order and wanted to charge me $6.50 per can. They never even contacted me to tell me the order was canceled! The "customer service" guy was a joke. Some Guido illiterate from Jersey Shores! Save your time and money this "store" is not a store.
They advertise items with the wrong SKU number then, overcharge for shipping, If you get an email to them they want to charge for restocking fee and or just stop responding to your email address
Shady merchant. They advertise a low price, send confirmation email, and promptly charge credit card. Then they ask for more money to actually fulfill the order! Not sure if this illegal, but certainly is dishonest. Steer clear.
I wish I did my research regarding this site. Poor customer service, non-responsive. They were trying to charge me a $20 restocking fee on a $7 item. Then when I requested the RMA number to return the item, nothing. No reply email.
associates
11:00 am oct. 19 at e. flamingo. LV, Nevada . Ace Hardware branch.
Trying to get clamps for Halloween lights. I was waiting for the cashier to finish talking to another guest and another associate was near him. I tried to get his attention but he was to concentrated on watch the Asian from head to toe. Tried to get his attention by say excuse me but no prevail, I was not as hot as the Asian women so I just left. When geting in the car, the ace associate calls more of his coworker to check the asian women from the parking. So no customer service just a sausage fest in this store.

exceptionally poor customer service
I called the store in desert hot springs ace hardware and asked if they had a pl-13- 2 - pin florescent light bulb. I told them what I needed
And if you had one in stock! I was put on hold twice and had to explained my self 3 times to 2, different male employees at this store over a 10 minute phone call. I explained that the bulb was for my porch light. I told the gentlemen that I would be right there and he said ok.! I live exactly 1 mile from your store. I get there and your doors are locked.! There were 2 men in your garden area and I told them that I had just got off the phone with you guys regarding the light bulb. They explain to me that they are closed at 3. It was exactly 3 as I was speaking with them. I am so frustrated with people being incompetent and not doing there job..! I now have to drive all the way to palm springs to get the bulb because its a safety concern for me as I live alone and am female. They should have to pay for my gas $... They have just lost a valued customer for over 20 years.

I feel your frustration as a consumer and I see the ACE WORKER proved your point by their comments, attitude and insults. By calling you an idiot and mocking you in their comments they just showed the public how much they don't value their customers opinions or care about your shopping experience. Yet your sales pay their salaries... funny thing how that works. No customers, no revenue, no jobs...whose the real idiot now?
Oh boo hoo. You've been a customer there for 20 years but you don't have any idea when the store closes? Give me a break! Its customers like you that make me sick. Having dealt with customers like you in the past as an Ace employee I would bet money that you called around 2, 10 minutes later you hung up and even though you only live a mile away from the store, I bet you sat on your big butt for a while and screwed around. By the time you actually got to the store they were closed. And being the crappy person that you are you had a complete meltdown and were probably absolutely awful to those two men in the garden area even though they probably did nothing wrong. I bet they had a good laugh and had some choice names for you after you left.
People like you just don't get it. Its never your fault apparently. It's always the store's. Ace hardware actually does have fantastic customer service. It's just people like you do not understand that its a small store and idiots like you walk in expecting it to be like Home Depot. Believe it or not sometimes you're going to have to wait a while for assistance. You might have to talk to more than one person. Just because someone answers your phone call at Ace, doe not mean that they know anything about your specific problem. So yes, you might have to be transferred to someone else. Oh no! And by the way, when you lose it and act like a 3 year old having a temper tantrum, no one cares.
The store that I worked at had tons of regular customers. Do you know why? It's because these regulars knew that it was a small store, and they were patient and respectful to employees. And for the record, I'm sure that if the employee knew that the store would be closing relatively soon, as in 10 to 15 minutes, he would have told you. This is why I'm fairly certain that you called earlier and then sat around. That's your fault. Not the store's. How dare you.

don't use them
If you haven't had to opportunity to buy something from Ace Hardward.com...DON'T! They haven’t a clue as to what they are doing. The C/S 24/7 line is manned by a ship of fools. Don't know anything, don't really care, can't answer direct questions, and have no back up system to track orders. When you ask for a confirmation for your order they pause... "A real question"... no scripted answer so - they have to think. It would appear that there's no system in place to track orders to their stores, no manifest to determine if your order is ready to be shipped, no clue when their trucks leave the warehouse and honestly they don't care. They tell you they are sorry for the problem. If they are sorry, get me an answer, don't tell me "sorry." I'm calling to get answers.
I finally called HQ (Try to get to a real person outside their 24/7 number and your lucky) Its [protected] prompt #1. They will do something more then tell you they are sorry. They are helping me find my order from a week ago and to tell me when it will arrive. My question is, if this person at the number I listed above can give answers why aren't they on the C/S 24/7 side of the phone? BTW, it's no wonder that Ace Hardware is NOT repeat is NOT a BBB approved business. Does that now surprise you? Not me. Don't bother with this sub standard company. Use the "brands" Home Depot, Loews, and a like.
Ace is a disgrace you will get better quality paint and items of the like at home depot or lowes at half the price they are terribly overpriced.
do not do business with this crooked company!!!
Ace claims they have products in stock. When you order stuff it will just say 'located in stock' on your update sheet. They don't have the goods and will not let you cancel the order when they can't ship. After 3 days of poor service from their Customer Service division and refusing to cancel my order they finally admit it's 'back ordered.'
Supposedly the item is shipped now, but I only got any action after I flied charges with the FTC.

If you email Customer Service and tell them your complaints they will give u coupons and gift card and be able to help you! they were super nice and helped me! yeah!

I live in Rupert w. v. the Rainelle w. v. store is eight miles away I went down there bought gray primer rust stop. It was thirty bucks took home tried to use . It was like water would not stick had bad streaks could not use . I called figured I bought throw away call done deal. When I talked to a guy at store he sad had trouble with it just bring back they would give money back or exchange no big deal. When I got to store lady told me we can not sell it we not take back. She did not ask not one question as to why or anything about it. so JERRY OSBORNE feels his people are doing a good job sorry your store will not last in the shape you have it in now. No wonder Rainelle is nothing but vacant lots.
poor warranty work
I bought a red max weed trimmer for my business, looking at changing my lawn care fleet over to red max products. This trimmer was used approx. 5 months, and quit working so I took it back to Ace hardware store in Hayden Idaho where I bought it. The Tech Charged me for repairs, to rebuild the carb. He said it was due to bad gas. I didn't know ace hardward trained there tech's to test gas to see if it good or bad. He also said I need to find another sourse to buy my gas, because it's all bad. I have also turned this complanit over to Red max, and the District Mgr. for CENEX oil corp. I don't beleive their gas is bad. I think your tech is wrong. There for I will never buy another Red max product, or for that matter, any product from ACE hardware since they will not honor their warrantys, on the products they sell.

All I want is to be taken off the mailing list for Ace Hardware's weekly mailers. They are a waste of paper and I put them right in recycling. The unhelpful local Ace franchise, Fairmount Hardware in Philadelphia, said they couldn't take me off the mailing list and to call corporate headquarters. They refused to give me the number. I found the number and called corporate headquarters. They told me I could only get my nme removed by going through www.dmachoice. I registerd with dmachoice, went to the section where you ask for you name to be removed from mailings and typed in Ace. What popped up? Ace corporate customer service, which is where I started. I called Ace again and was put on hold for 20 before I hang up. I sent an email to Ace customer service from my home email address. I got a note back from Ace customer service that said I could not submit an email complaint that way. I had to fill out a form on the Ace website. I went to the ace website, there is no from having to do with mail ing lists. The saga continues. DO NOT SHOP AT ACE HARDWARE.

quality control - screen repair
VERY POOR quality control on repair of household screens! Screens were not repaired professionally. Three of my four screen frames appeared "warped" (would not lean flat against a wall -- altho they do fit in window frame). Note: these frames were all completely flat and stable in appearance and shape when left at the hardware store.
In addition to the "warping" situation: One repaired screen was not tight; new screening was somewhat wrinkled. Another had raw edges of screening material showing beyond piping. Another screen had dirty spots (fingerprints?) all over it. And all four screens were very dusty; my hands were filthy after handling them.
Even more important, the employees exhibited very poor customer relations! Two employees were extremely rude and unwilling to admit that there was anything wrong with the repair work (the third employee was a high-school kid, who didn't say anything). The female employee aggressively suggested slicing all four repaired screens with a razor blade, refunding my money, and sending the screens away with me to be repaired again somewhere else. No one suggested that any of the screens be re-done (for example, the wrinkled one). They said they "would keep the bugs out" the way they were. What a crock!
I'll never shop at the Park Avenue Ace Hardware again, for ANYTHING, altho I have been a frequent customer in the past.
rebate scam
Ace Hardware Corporation at 2200 Kensington Ct. Oak Brook, IL 60523.
On Friday, July 29 2007 i purchased a Weber grill from Ace Hardware. There was a $20.00 mail in rebate which i sent in with the receipt and upc code. The rebate was the main reason i bought this particular item.
Today i received a reply stating that that the rebate was invalid because the receipt didn't have the correct date. It was purchased on the first day of their sale. I'm sure of the date i purchased the grill so the date is correct plus the sale price was on the receipt. The receipt's ink was a little dim so they was probably too lazy to even look for the date on it. They know i can't resubmit my receipt because i sent the only one i received at the time of purchase in with the rebate.
This all seems like a scam to me since they know 99% of the time no one is going to go out and scan a copy of the receipt for their records before they send it in for the rebate. The main reason i filed this complaint is to get it on record how Ace Hardware treated this now ex customer. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
3 or 4 years ago I submitted 3 ACE rebates. I received a card for each one saying: "ACE SKU missing".
I did the rebates on line. The SKU numbers are on the form. I resubmitte and got the same response. I got so ticked at
them and did not viset that store until now. I recently shopped there 4 times and submitted 4 Rebate forms online.
My combined Rebate : $42.78. Well you guessed it, today came the first 2 postcards: " ACE SKU not found".
What the heck is going on? I called the 800 number and was told that my ACE Rewards card was not scanned correctly.
What a crock, it scanned just fine, all the numbers are on the receipts. The guys at ACE are very helpfull and nice, but something is rotten in Denmark. They entice you with rebates but then refuse to honor it. I had it up to here.
"On Friday, July 29 2007 i purchased a Weber grill."
" Today i received a reply stating that that the rebate was invalid."
Over three years later? Who pays you people to make this stuff up?
