rebate
Adt rebates are a sham, they deny your claim first, wait for you to call and then so call approve it, next they tell you, we will send you a check in 7 to 10 days, that check never comes. Then they tell you, you have to wait 30 days to do a stop payment, on an invisible check... Lol, wow... And then you have to wait another 30 days... I should have went to comcast... Cooperate greed...
What type of mess is that, You have an ADT employee spell checking complaints, talking about ignorance...No your ignorant and ADT is terrible with customer service...let's see how CNN or channel 4, finish getting my information and your comment...Enjoy your job while you have it...:-)
Typical ADT employee...waiting for his bonus...you can have the rebate...lesson learned..
trashed insulation in crawl space
Insulation beneath our floor was found pulled from beneath flooring. Securing twine was cut in places and gobs of insulation just pulled out in other places where security wires run to switches and control panel. Contractor who inspected was amazed how badly it was damaged and removed, and said that it was obvious that it had been pulled for the security wiring. I guess the alarm installer didn't figure a homeowner would likely go into crawl space and discover the misdeed. I didn't for a long time, over two years. Was I shocked! Not only was the insulation lying on the ground beneath, but so were the wires! They were draped across the ground rather than being attached to the joists. I had to pay $270 to have the insulation repaired. After being given the run around by ADT, disconnected, told to expect a phone call back from the operations manager, and sent repeatedly through phone trees, I was denied compensation for the problem, and told that I in order to have further consideration that I would have to write a letter. Rather than waste more of my time, I cancelled my ADT monitoring, changed my control panel and arming stations, and will pay about 25% as much per month for my new monitoring service. This company needs to learn to be responsible for their work. I see from the numerous complaints online that they are leaving what appears to be a very bad taste in a lot of customers' mouths.
horrible service
Please do not get an ADT security system. We have had nothing but problems after problems with them and now stuck in a three year contract with them. First they told us if you referred someone they would give us $100 and they would receive $100. They called the same number we did and had the same installers come to their house but when we tried to get the promotion rebate they said adt private hooked up one and adt corporate hooked up the other and refused to pay. Next someone tried to break in my house and when they went to pull on the slider door my system went beep beep and said back door failure instead of going off. My system wasn't even a year old at this point. Then that night two more sensors quit working when I went to open the windows. ADT never called even when there was the sensor failure, we had to call them and they didn't care someone tried to break in my house. Then on top of the rude customer service they wanted to charge us to send out a technician to fix there broken sensors. Finally after arguing with them they sent someone out for free and the guy they sent was nasty. He was unshowered in sweat pants with coat over his shirt, wreaked of body odor and cigarette smoke, and left greasy finger prints all over everything he touched. I had to use a scrub brush to get off the stains and buy new curtains. I just shampooed my carpets and he tracked mud all over them and we took pictures and also he chipped our walls but ADT refused to do anything. He put on the wrong sensors so a week later they sent someone else to change them and got upset because we wouldn't let him back in our home. So finally our sensors got fixed and a week later they fell off the windows and it set off an alarm and once again ADT didn't even call us, we had to call them. Three days later they sent someone to our house and now we decided to seek a lawyers help. They have lied to us, cheated us, and stole from us. The whole purpose of getting the system was to add some piece of mind when my husband is working nights and out of town. Instead we went out and bought a gun for my families safety.
defective adt system
I have had more problems with my ADT system then anything I have ever owned. I got the alarm system because someone broke into my home once. Ever since I got the system it goes off randomly, they do upgrades that will set the alarm off, I have had the police sent to my home (was charged a fine by the city) for a false alarm. I call them to see about getting the sensors switched because only 2 of my sensors are being set off and they want to charge me a fee for doing this. They seem to not care that their system is defective. I paid $1500 to get the system installed and pay $50 a month for their services. It has come down to me paying $50 a month for them to scare me a couple times a month. I have had to leave and miss work because of ADT. When I asked them about the upgrade setting my alarm of they seem to not care and it took me talking to 3 reps to even know what was going on. I wasted $1500 for a service that is not protecting me but is causing issues. Now I regret even getting the service. I dont feel protected, I feel frustrated with the lack of support and anger because of how many issues I have had on a service I paid good money for.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Man...I am in the same boat with you right now. I wish my contract ends soon. Please people don't signup with ADT. period. They only care about your money and giving false sense of protection instead of peace of mind as they advertise. ADT sucks!
thieves, liars, and crooks
I worked for secure watch (SWS)for 4 mths, and they treat everyone like crap! Mr. Thompson you owe me a $1800 team leader paycheck, which Bryan Weaver failed to send to me, (you knew were to send it but yall made sure to send me my w-2, so i had to pay taxes on). Seucrewatch plays favorites in selecting who will advance in the company, and for the most part I noticed that they are racist! and yes they do do background checks, but even if you have a record all you have to do is be friends with the branch manager and he will but in a good word for you and you can stay employed and eventually become regional manager of Missouri, just ask Bryan Mcswiggan, who has a felony for a suspended license. SWS screwsthe sales people because if you sell a good system to a customer the sales person uses all the points they give which is seven, ( motion detector-2, smoke/heat-2, door sensor-1, key fob-1, pennant-1) and to make matters worse for every point you save you get $15 but if you go over ever point they take $30. And since the company is commission based the customers get the short end of the stick! The company also urges that the salesmen never mention anything about a credit check, but that's how you get approved they look for anyone with a 585 or better, ( the commission is also based on the customers credit, 585-614=$180, 615-649=$240, 650+=$300)And to make it even better even if you get to run someone's credit and you can't close the deal because they find out that they have to pay an activation fee. Which can be waived for the customer, secure watch changed the amount from $99 to $149. Regardless all of this bulls*it that I've seen from the the company the real crooks are Matt Thompson and ADT. Secure watch sells the contracts that they have acquired for $1500 to ADT, ADT then owns the contract and won't due anything if the customer complains about the salesperson lying regardless of the topic the contract can be cancelled at no penalty to the customer( which is stated on the back of the contract in the fine print) but I still see all these complaints about ADT penalizing for canceling the contract due to the salesperson lying! Also ADT should pay me for doing their footwork, they steal sales from the salesperson (this was the straw that broke the camels back for me) every time the sales person runs a credit check and if the they are a few points under the recommended credit or even if the individual is interested but has to do something and wants you to come back and the customer gives you their personnel phone number to finish the process, and when you call back and you find out that ADT not secure watch came in and uses all the info that you gathered and got the customer interested comes in and sells them the system without you being there, I would consider that to be theft and this just didn't happen once ADT, so you can kiss my white a$$ if you want to say something different. So frankly I don't believe in secure watch or ADT, and until I see my money come from Matt Thompson, and I see some money come from ADT, both I would consider crooks, thieves, and liars so feel free to send either by cash, check or a money order to Forrest Becker @ 1540 blockford ct e, Tallahassee, FL 32317,

adt home system - troublesome ripoff!
After owning a $2500 ADT home alarm system, it has been nothing but trouble and expense. DO NOT place this troublesome system in your home. Here's the list of problems I've had: I have had numerous false alarms which interrupt my work on human hearts, somewhat important work, huh? The keypads are designed that only an engineer or ADT tech now the sequences of codes to produce a desired result: Very user unfriendly - in fact - the best you can hope is that you can arm and disarm the thing (and I also work with complex high-tech medical technology that most people only see on a PBS special). But my ADT system is the most complex thing in my life. Imagine someone who reads ECG's and works in complex cardiology admitting that. Do you think you'll figure it out? The last straw was tonight: My granny flat system keypad started chiming at 1AM to the chagrin of my renter. ADT was able to tell me over a phone call how to shut it off, since disarm code did nothing. It went off ten minutes later. A subsequent call shut it off again, but ADT wanted me to locate the battery box and power transformer now. I had to then crawl through the attic to locate the battery box, which was locked by the installer, who never gave me the key. I easily pulled the locked door open, and unplugged the battery, but the pad still had power from a transformer I couldn't locate. I finally had to rip the console off the wayy and pull the control wires out to silence it. I am having the tech come Monday to locate this transformer and kill the system. I will remove my console and wallboard the holes. I'm done, and out $2500 (not counting the monthly service fees). I am ex-military veitnam vet, and over-qualified on anything that shoots ammo. So, I also own a dog, (and shoot more than "well") several semiautomatic weapons, which are far more effective than a chirping alarm at taking down an intruder. THAT is what I am protecting my family with now. You can buy alot of ammo and a few semiautomatic weapons with $2500. DO NOT buy one of these POS systems. You will regret it. It's nothing but frustration, aggravation and expensive trouble. Mine is going into the landfill after Monday.
I used to have ADT. My monthly fees started climbing from $29 and at $44 I had had it yet they were still advertising $1 a day specials (I can calculate idiots!) I cancelled on the phone and CMRRR them just in case they "misplace" or "cannot find" my telephone call to cancel (my contract had been over and I was on a month to month.)
Check to make sure your contract is expired otherwise they will hit you with cancellation fees. Make sure to CMRRR your cancellation.
I now use Alarmrelay.com $8.99/mo. Their alarms are on ebay $250ish.
scam
adt/secure watch scam: Based on a telemarketing call we purchased a 3 year contract for ADT monitoring and received a free security system. We were planning to move so the salesperson told us the system would be moved for free anytime during the contract. He put this in writing after the fact. We later found this company was an authorized ADT "dealership" not ADT itself. Keep in mind that ADTs name was all over the documents we signed, and we are being billed by ADT on our credit card too!
Anyway, we signed a contract. No address was specified for monitoring on the contract as it was left blank when we signed (I have a copy). To make a long story short, we moved and ADT wouldn't honor the salesmen's promises. They say the "dealership" made the promises of moving our system, not ADT as they just provide monitoring. Of course, the dealership is no longer in business. An ADT rep told me that they don't like working with the dealerships and they are trying to get rid of them because of these issues.
What's funny is ADT won't provide monitoring services to me if I reinstall the system myself at the new address. They're talking out of both sides of their mouth. So, I'm stuck with paying my pre-authorized credit card charges of 29.99 which they say I can't stop, and ADT will NOT provide monitoring services to a different address. The Better Business Bureau was worthless beacause they just note that we agree to disagree. I don't even see my complaint as a "black mark" on their web site.
ADT keeps asking for extensions of time to respond to the compaint, and I just keep paying them. What really steams me is that ADT bad mouths the authorized dealerships and blames all issues on them, but they are aware of all business practices of dealerships and are glad to purchase new contracts from them. FYI, you can buy security systems from local companies (or wireless self install kits online) and get monitoring for 1/2 the price of ADT.

ADT/SECURE WATCH SCAM
•Securewatch Complaints - They are a scam
I want to get it out to the public that ADT and Secure watch are two different companies. Secure watch is an authorized dealer !
Secure Watch is continually hiring new employees (their usual lifespan is that of a fruit fly) because they impose numerous false deductions on your commissions.
Packages are sold on a "point system"?. The consumer is allowed so many points for their security package, with 8 allowable points (each door contact is 1 point, glass breaks or motion detectors are 2 points each…)
If the 8 points is exceeded, the salesperson's commission takes it, .
Even if your paperwork is perfect, there are no point overages, they see fit to chip away at your paycheck, citing false point overages'.
Conveniently enough, salespeople can't keep copies of contracts to contest these
Frequent erroneous deductions, and pay discrepancies - which gives the company free reign to literally steal from their employees – and they do with impunity!
I worked for secure watch (SWS)for 4 mths, and they treat everyone like crap! only lies to their employees
Just read what the other reviews state, it is a job position based on outright lies and deceitfulness! I don't know who this dave character in fl is, maybe a 3rd brother to the two brothers up here in va. I highly doubt there is drug/alcohol abuse, but the business ethics, or lack thereof, are the same. I was offered a base pay, (Several times, all of the new associates in my training class were told this) , with an option for commission as a ft employee. I was also told it was not door to door sales, but simply going to people's homes who had already shown interest in a security system and who had also passed credit / background checks, so there was no element of personal harm when going for an appointment. I quit another job for this that I had been working for 6 years! They filled my position so i'm able to get my previous job back! We then found out not only is it cold door to door knocking, there is no base pay, and you study your guts out for no compensation. I am no stranger to hard work by any means, I constantly went over 40 hrs every week at my previous job, but I was also paid, and you don't mess with people's money... How do these hiring and training managers sleep at night?
EVERYTHING IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE. When I started there was 10 people on the third day I was the only one left. THIS job is COMMISSION ONLY, they lie and say base pay, but never give you an amount. Even trying is deceitful; it's suppose to be 1pm - 5pm for two days, you will leave class either at 2pm or 3pm both days and think your getting paid, but what they don't tell you is you have to be there 4 - 5 hours in order to get paid. (That's just the start). Once you and 4 others get to your destination your thinking which house wanted the service, but instead your knocking on ALL the house on just one block then you go to another destination and do the same thing. But your Trainer and Manager you meet the first and second day training say "we're going to people houses that called in and want the service and you just present it to them" (LIES AND ###). The first week on your own cold knocking people doors that actually don't care what your there for and you no y make a Sale your Manager will put ever ounce of guilt and judgement and negative on you. Moreover, they mess with your paycheck with commission, if you quite before a installation is done that you sold walking in 80 degree weather and sweating, you will NOT see any of it, all goes to ADT. On the is full or part time position, there is no choice just Full time (that they don't tell you till the third day). I have already contacted BBB and the Department of Labor I'm just waiting on paper work and the next step is the local media so no one else will waist time and gas with Erogant, Deceitful, low life lying people. The economy is bad enough to deal with ignorance like this.
I absolutely agree they are an unethical business taking advantage of eager employees that are trying to support their families. I tried to tell my son that the offer sounded to good to be true...base pay plus commission! The first night my son worked over 10 hours and was told for every lead that led to a security system install he would get $250...however, when he made his first sale he was notified because of the buyers credit and because they rented that his commission would only be $50! Then the next day basically the same thing...so finally my son got a clue that they were vultures and decided to quit...then they had a nerve to tell him after he had worked 40+ hours that he would only get $8!
Terrible business practice and I suggest that anyone who has a similar story to report the company to the BBB, SCC and the Department of Labor! This is fraudulent and unethical business practices!
poor service
ADT bought out Brinks. I had been a satisfied customer of Brinks for 20 years. When our system did not function and gave us continual, annoying beeps, I called Customer Service. The representative disarmed the door that had a low battery and told us the 1st available appt. would be SIX WEEKS FROM THE DAY I CALLED. This occurred again last week, and once again, the representative, apologetically told me it would be SIX WEEKS, again, before someone could come out to fix the annoying beeping. This has been a nightmare. DO NOT USE ADT for home security. You will be sorry.
victimisation
I was shouted at by one of the managers at work that i am a racist for no apparent reason infront of some colleagues. I have filed a grievance 3 times. Thefirst time greg bucton could see no evidence even though he had a statement from the manager in question stating that i am a racist. The second time chris anderson told me that he was not going to investigate my complaint. I filed it for the third time and am still awaiting answers almost a month later. My colleagues who heard what was said have slowly started treating me like an outsider. The working conditions have gotten so bad that i was forced to go for counseling and when i asked the manager to arrange a counselor for me to talk to but all i was given was a letter stating that i must go see a specialist with not even a contact number or anything. From what has happened to me i can say for certain that management is not at all interested in our health and safety yet they are quick to give us a guide to ethical conduct. It seems the only way to get them to do what they are supposed to do is take them to the CCMA. If that doesnt work then maybe the newspapers would be interested in hearing how some employees are treated and the management turns a blind eye to protect their own. Or maybe i could get some answers from your side. I have all the necessary documentation but need the correct email address to forward it to

adt failed my family and others!!!
Adt failed us and many others! Adt failed to notify fire rescue when our monitored smoke alarms were going off. After our house was a total loss, and 2 loving pets perished, the fire dept investigator called adt from my burnt house asking why they didn’t send help. They claimed they didn’t know the alarms were going off! They know that my house was a total loss, yet 4 days later they took out my next month’s payment, and 3 1/2wks later, still not a word from adt! After the fire, I was speaking to a friend who lost his house 2 miles away 7 months prior. I told him how upset I was with adt. He then told me that he also had adt, and they failed to notify fire rescue when his house burned down! I found out that we are not the minority… please like my facebook page and read my whole story and see pictures, then please share the page so that others will know the dangers from trusting adt for their family’s protection.

fraud & scam
I should have said this sooner, but I was a victim too, I believed the company was legit and would change their ways, but I coming forward now & I want to get it out to the public that ADT and Secure watch are two different companies. Secure watch is NOT an authorized dealer or ADT but they are giving ADT a horrible name. My Husband is a installer for Secure watch and the stories he comes home with absolutely horrify me. If you get your system installed with Secure watch your going to end up paying more money monthly because they are there own company. I just got off the phone with ADT because I received a flier in the mail saying that my bill could be 29.99 a month instead i am paying 47.99 a month. The reason why is because i went through a private contractor. So if you want to get ADT i would recommend going through the actually company of ADT and not secure watch. Also the scare tactic that the sales people use is horrid. They come door to door and tell people that there were recent break in within the neighbor hood and i know this must be a company policy because they said the same thing to me in NC as they did to my mother in FL. Please if you are elderly watch out because the salesman will target you. There is a salesman that goes by the name of DOC in the Fayetteville, NC Area and he will tell you anything to try and make a buck. He is known for taking advantage of literally 98 year old women that don't know what they are even signing or getting into. So if you are older or you have older parents please talk to them about this because they could fall victim to this awful scam of secure watch. I hear all the stories when my husband comes home. The Augusta, GA office has a manger that doesn't know what he is doing at all and he is racist. The only new people he will hire will be his cousins which of course all happen to be black. They give the black girls (who dress like sluts) all the best jobs while the white guys are the ones that are sent to drive to South Carolina for a job. This is a horrible company and they don't even pay their new employees, they just keep posting scams in The Augusta Chronicle -to fool people, looking for a real job!
But then again its all about money in this world so who knows. I just don't know how some of these people sleep at night with doing what they are doing.

lied to at contract signing
Called for maintenance on my alarm system, and when the ADT employee showed up she said I had to sign another 3 year contract. What?! My first contract hadn't even expired! She gave me some story about how she couldn't service my alarm without signing, and besides, if we moved to a place that we couldn't have the alarm, the contract was voided anyway. So I signed. A year and a half later, we had to move, and ended up in a condo that didn't allow alarm systems. ADT not only refused to let me out of the contract, but the manager I spoke to was EXTREMELY rude and condescending. So I have been paying $55 a month since then and am not even receiving any services. Can you say SCAM?

That is not a scam. What do you think a 3 year contract means? The contract is specific to your home address. If you move before the contract is up expect to still be paying for it.
ADT signed me up two days after my husband died. The hospice bed was still in the room when he signed me up. They told me nothing about a contract. I had a coupon for the system, but the still charged me for the components.
THEN I moved. I had the service (unmonitored) for almost a year, and now they are trying to charge me $800 to get out of the contract. They said I had three choices (1) Pay the fee (2) get the service at my new home or (3) have the new owner sign up for service. How come I am responsible for getting a stranger who bought my old house to sign up for service. And as for my new place, I do not need service. Total sham.
Plus I found service for less than half the price with another security place, and there is no contract.
I highly do not recommend ADT, and I am working on getting rid of them at work and switching to another vendor also.
Awful customer service. Smiling ruthless sales people! - Joanne Buffalo NY
When an ADT sales person voids the old contract, has an installer come out, check/fix/or repair the system, and a new contract is signed, oftentimes they get credit for a new sale. This is especially the case if the old contract was in your name, and the new one was in your husband/wife's name, if there was a slight deviation to the old contract such as a different phone number/address.
Its a shame your new condo complex does not allow for the service. You may want to see if ADT will allow for a panic button to be installed in the condo. ADT offers relocation credits. Typically the value of a relocation credit can vary, however, I have heard that it can approach 250.00 if you have been paying faithfully for 1 yr+. I remote panic button (about the size of a car key fob) is not as good as a full fledged alarm, but its a nice second option, god forbid anyone ever break in while you are there.
I'd also try to renegotiate that rate. Sounds high to me. Since when is alarm service as expensive as basic cable? Oh that's right, its ADT where talking about here.
cancelled and it was never reported
Now I have been out of contract for a few years now:
I received several calls on a weekly basis from ADT asking me about my account starting in November 2011. Each time I told the call center representative that I wanted to cancel because I was not sure if I was going to renew with ADT for the New Year.
I also informed ADT that I was not even using the system because every-time I turn it on, I forget and open the door in the morning and the alarm would go off and then the police would come. So I stopped turning it on. For this reason, I’m paying for something that I’m not even using.
I have always been a good solid customer, as I asked to be billed on annual basis and I have paid annually. Now I am getting a bill when I had clearly asked to cancel starting from November to January when the ADT service center continuously called on a weekly basis. I should have noticed that something was weird when the calls never stopped. Then I look up in March and I see this bill and I call to question why am I getting a bill, because I was not in a contract situation. I was told that I did not pay my bill. I told ADT that I can not forced to renew if I had decided to cancel until further notice.
Your call center department is very unethical and I guess making a sale quota rather than listening to the customer is more important. I clearly cancelled. I called several times this year to try to work with ADT and just go ahead and renew and pay the annual just as I had in the past and I’m told that I am now a BAD customer and I must pay what is left on this account $194.74 in addition to the annual fee. I have refused because I cancelled.
It’s not my fault, that if I clearly stated that I no longer wanted the service that they decided not to note it on my account. I am NOT responsible for neglect.
ADT has proven that the customer service is very, very poor when a good customer whom always paid annually even tries to work it out and just go ahead and pay the annual bill in full and move forward. No I do not want a 3 year contract, when I have already proved that I’m a long termed customer whom pays her bill. Now this shows what happens when your customer tries to cancel in which we do have every right to do so. It demonstrates home ADT tries to tack on extra billing to put the customer in a bad state.

terrible customer service
Had a pulse system installed in march 2011 after being an adt customer for years. The folks installing the system didn't bring the right equipment (And the thermostat didn't work) and i was told i'd be contacted the next day to finish install. That process took until june and a threat of cancellation to get the rest installed. Then the system didn't work, plus no air conditioning through summer in georgia. Have been trying to cancel and get a refund ever since. Finally got the local office to come and collect their equipment but am still getting collection calls - at adt head office there apparently is no mention of a refund even though i was promised one by someone about 15 calls ago. Their head office rarely speaks to the local office and nobody has ever called back when promised. It has taken a year, at least 50 phone calls and still no resolution. I don't know what to do more.

cancellation policy
I have been an adt customer for 6 years. I moved a year ago and thought I was just transferring my service from one place to another. Little did I know, it renewed my contract for another 3 years. Now I am moving and I will not... Have an alarm at my new place. Adt is charging me $932 to cancel my contract. They did not install the equipment in this home...

My mothers house had ADT alarm system which is attached to their armed response.
In September 2011 my mothers house burnt down and the alarm system also got damaged. We notified ADT about the matter. While my family was still trying to fix the house and get it back to its structure, ADT was still debiting the monthly instalments. My parents are both pasioners and they are staying alone.
ADT have been promising to sort out the issue by installing another panel, to this day we still waiting. The past week I have been calling theiR accounts department and they have done nothing to atleast assist or stop the debit orders. I feel they do not care about the customers as long as they milk money from clients. There is no way they can debit money for a service that was never rendered.
ADT in question is in East London (Mdantsane)
Please assist.
ADT is awful. My parents house burned to the ground due to a forest fire and they lost everything they have as well as my brother and his wife. ADT is charging both of them for security systems that are no longer here and for "protecting" home that are complete ash. They were told they would not do anything for my parents or brother. That they had to pay out their contract regardless. If they had just offered to suspend the contract until they were able to get a new home we all would have been satisfied but no they are greedy. My house had no power to two months due to the same fire and trust me they have been charging me as well for services not provided. File with Better Business Bureau.

schoolteacher
They have been charging a schoolteacher (auto pay) since 2006 for an alarm service they did not provide. When she complained they told her they would send out someone to hook her up, but would charge her for the visit. They also refused to refund all her money all those years she has been paying them. What kind of people take advantage of a working schoolteacher like that.
A TEACHER IN CONCORD, CA WAS CHARGED (AUTO PAY) BY ADT ALARM COMPANY SINCE 2006, AND SHE WAS NOT EVEN HOOKED UP. WHEN SHE TOLD THEM THEY SAID THEY WOULD HOOK HER BACK UP, BUT CHARGE HER FOR IT. THEY REFUSED TO REFUND HER MONEY.
continued billing after service terminated
ADT has continued to bill me monthly for alleged security services after our three year contract expired in December 2011. In November 2011, I contacted the ADT customer service department and informed them that I had decided to terminate the service as soon as our three year contract expired in December, 2011. I fully paid ADT throughout the three year term of the contract. I also followed up with two additional calls to ADT's customer service department, plus I faxed a cancellation letter to them on February 1, 2012, as they had requested me to do by their letter dated January 23, 2012. Nevertheless, on February 17, 2012 I received another bill from ADT for $153.39, which represented charges for January, February and March, 2012, although I had attempted to cancel service in November, 2011! It seems that ADT refuses to let a customer go even after the three year contract has expired and specifically cancelled by the customer.
Same thing happened to us. We cancelled ADT after 13 years of service. Then they sent me a bill for $195.00 for Early termination fee. When I informed them that I had been with them for 13 years, so "early termination "fee wasn't feasible--they turned my account over to collections.
ADT does the same scam as SafeGuard and all the others. In fact, ADT wont give you a quote over the phone. They insist on sending a sales person who wont give you a quote until the first run a check check! They will also sell you more monitoring devices which means your monitoring price goes up! Why should having more devices cost you more for monitoring!? Its a SCAM! It costs them no more if you have 2 monitoring devices in your home or 20! Your low rate on TV suddenly goes from $40 a month to $80. If anyone on here is praising the alarm companies then they are shills for the companies. And in their ads they say it costs you just over a $1 a day. Well, I guess if it's $1.80 a month they can still legally say just over $1 a day?
