I haven't worked at this hell hole in almost two years, and I still can't sleep at night thinking about some of the things I'd say to people to get a sale.
I worked there for only three months, but I will never get over how I was treated or how I was TRAINED to treat others.
It was disgustingly unprofessional. People actually smoked e-cigs INSIDE the sales floor for a while until corporate *thankfully* got word of it and prohibited it.
After training, I was excited about the opportunity. I'd just gotten my bachelor's degree and needed a job. I got hip to the tactics pretty quickly, and it wore on me every single day to go in there.
Top sellers, well-liked people, and people who were family members and/or friends of managers got routed the best calls - people who had high credit scores. Low sellers got calls with the worst credit routed to them.
"Oh, you don't qualify. Is there anyone else in your house we can qualify? What's their social security number? Oh, they didn't qualify. What about a neighbor? Can you call someone on 3-way? I just need verbal authorization to run a quick check...go ahead with your social."
Seriously...NO. EFFING. JOKE. Those were actual things I'd say to people. Poor people. Single moms with four kids living in a two bedroom apartment whose neighbor just got robbed. Widows who'd JUST lost their husbands who were alone for the first time in 50 years who were scared, lonely, and just wanted to feel safe.
I'd sit and cry at my desk over the welfare of some of the people I spoke to. I was obviously not a top seller. I spoke to these people every day. It still haunts me.
The ONLY positive thing that happened while working at this shady dump is the motivation I mustered to fervently seek employment elsewhere. It took me everything I had to finish out those final days while interviewing with the MOST AMAZING company I'm currently with.
Do not work here. Do not purchase any products from this vendor. As much as I wanted to say, "EFF you; I'm OUT!, " I left with grace and integrity - two very important things that this place lacks. That and ethics. There are absolutely NO ethics, and the BS they sell the new-hires is the same BS these newbies will try to sell you.
I really hope this place ceases to exist, and - as is - I will be delighted to see its demise.

My experience with adt... A few weeks ago my mother had passed away after her passing someone attempted break to in at her residence. So to secure the house we immediately thought adt security let's get that installed. I contacted adt and set up the appointment for the soonest available date.
The adt installer shows up at the house monday july 13th around 12:30 p. M after talking to us about all this equipment that we had originally planned on, we let him start installing. The installation was taking so long because the installer kept having issue after issue, such as trying to mount one of the cameras and stapling through one of the wires causing the camera to short out then remounting a new camera and stapling through that wire but telling us it was completely fine. The installer kept having us put things in the fridge for him to drink and I almost felt like I had to wait on him hand and foot. He had been asking my husband to assist him with doing different stuff because he was unable to do it by himself. At the end of the evening he was trying to install a screamer with flashing blue lights outside of the house and asked my husband to assist him with using a ladder. After installing it he was taking down the ladder which folded in half and was in such a rush he ended up hitting my husband in the face with the latter causing my husband to blackout. After that point the gentleman was in such a rush to get out of the house and finish everything up, he never checked all of the software and equipment that was installed. Racing through the paperwork and just wanting to get his check and leave, he wasn’t really even worrying about my husbands’ condition.
It was at that point that we were notified that it was a third party installer "defender direct". After the installer left we tried to leave the home and were unable to set the alarm because one of the sensors was not working properly. We logged on to adt pulse and we noticed that one of the cameras ‘the same one he stapled through’ was already offline and not functioning. Therefore we immediately contacted adt so they could arm the house for us. The next day I called adt to discuss the issues that had happened and the fact that the system was not working properly, I was then informed that it was a third party installer who had done the installation, and I was told I had to contact the adt corporate office. After contacting the corporate office I was told it was out of their hands because it was the third party and I had to handle it through them. Tuesday july 14th when trying to contact the third party company to find out that they were having massive phone problems and I couldn't be transferred to a supervisor or let alone get someone on the phone. Wednesday july 15th I was finally able to get ahold of a supervisor which at that point they slightly discounted the installation and set me up a new appointment to have the equipment fixed almost a week later. By that time we also noticed a motion sensor was also acting up along with a door sensor and the camera. Logging on to adt pulse check the camera we had noticed stuff was moved and wanted to play back the camera to see who was there and what they were doing on the property. Unable to pull up any feed through the app I had called adt to then find out that the camera had not been setup to record anything. Racing down to the house to check everything, we disarmed the system to find out that another door sensor was also not working properly. After talking with adt to actually have the cameras recording when they see motion we tried to leave the house but was unable to arm the system yet again. While on the phone with adt we are told that they are unable to arm the system from their location and we had to leave the system unarmed until technical support could finally get out and check everything over. I was finally able to get one lady on the phone probably the nicest person I have talked to from adt since all of this has been going on and she's taught me how to bypass the trouble area and was finally able to arm the system. Now waiting on the third party to come back out and replace a motion sensor, at least two door sensors, and a camera and also check everything over and maybe just maybe get everything working properly. We were told that we had 3 days to cancel the contract, for those three days there were attempts made to get ahold of this company and they were unable to get back to us and wouldn't be able to get out and fix the problems until after a cancellation time frame had run out! How convenient!
unauthorized charges without my knowledge
As I talked with someone on friday they told me everything I needed to hear to get the service reactivated. Also promised that I would get my $100.00 back. I notice in my checking account they charge me a month and 1/2 month worth of charges that I was not aware of not one time did they say anything about this friday the day I talk with them. I am very upset because I would like to know how many other customers they have did this way. Making unauthorize charges to your account without you knowing. This is a potential lawsuit and I want it to stop because I know this has effected many other people that do not have it to pay. I work everyday and this made a very inconvenience moment in life. I do have to buy groceries and other things afterall you already took 100.00 to sign up for the security system that you promise I would get back and then you took additional out of my account I am not happy about this at all!
repair service
Called several days ago to have a tech person out to fix our alarm system. They have scheduled 12 pm to 5 pm and informed the tech I wouldn't be home until 3pm. Will it was 5 minutes before 5pm. I waited since 3pm and no service. Called adt and was aware they scheduled from 12 pm to 8pm. Who the hell wait 8 hours for service. I got a life too, not just you adt! You need to change that schedule appointment system if you want to keep me as your customer
Unfortunately, ADT uses sub contractors for their installations, and service as well. Rarely do they provide quality in house trained technicians. .Although you think you're dealing with a national company, once they have their signed contract, you are at the mercy of what ever Ma and Pa alarm repair company they send you. I have heard horror stories of clients waiting for 3 weeks for service in the Montreal area. Better pay more and have a solid service company provide you with your needs.

Recently moved into a house. Last night at 9 PM, Kristen from Safe Haven Security showed up at my door, claiming she was sent by my Realtor because I needed ADT Security, and my Realtor made the appointment. I told her I was not notified, and was not interested, but she persisted in harassing me to buy her system. I therefore kept repeating myself like a broken record that I was not interested, but she refused to leave. I told her I had no intention of changing my mind, and finally got her to leave. I then called my Realtor, who told me that she did not make any appointment for me concerning ADT, but did tell Kristen to send me some information. I also reported the incident to the Pinellas County Sheriff, and Safe Haven Security, so it would be on record. In the meanwhile, Kristen lost a sale by refusing to listen to both my Realtor and myself. I would certainly not use this company based on Kristen's inappropriate behavior, and lack of ethics.

This has to be the worst Company I have ever had to deal with. I am writing this complaint late because I have no other choice. I first tried to get service and made an appointment in August, 2013, after going around in a circle with "no show appointments" some one finally showed up in November, 2013 (three months later). The service was put in. I had to leave town on business and the fact that I take out of state assignments for work. My daughter came over to check the property, walked in January, 2014, she forgot the alarm info, called me to tell me she forgot. I asked her if the alarm went off...she said no. I later found out in February, 2014 that the system was not working. I finally was back in town, had a technician to come and find out what the problem was. I was told the problem was fixed. My daughter once again came to check the property in April, 2014...alarms not working. I was told they was working. I just gave up. Finally I just got out right mad and on December31, 2014 a Technician came over to do repairs and told me that the wrong wires were installed. I was credited with 6 months of not having to pay a bill. I am looking for another compamy, but there is no other company in this rural area until I saw a commercial called Simpli Safe...think god that is where I am going. This ADT SUCKS...Stay away from it.
Please keep yourself away from ADT home security company, they have totally rubish customer service, i have cancelled my order after they failed to intall the system, its been two months i am still waiting for my initial deposit of GBP 153

Endlessly I receive harrassing calls from ADT, since purchasing my home a year ago. They go in phases where they will call me everyday sometimes twice a day.
They have even visited my home twice to harrass me to purchase their security system.
How do I stop them from continuing to harrass me.

If you are considering an ADT system be warned: A service call runs $111 for the first 30 minutes plus $28 for each additional 15 mins. This is outrageous. I have been a customer for over 10 years but will not be one any longer.
The business repair service is the worst... Took 5 times to repair something simple and then charged me $665. Three days later it broke again...
I cancelled service within 24 hours of them not showing up to install (which installation was supposed to take place on the same day).
We sent in the cancellation form, called 20 times, have gotten transferred around the country and still they cant figure out how to issue us a refund for the $99.00.

Put you number on the DO NOT CALL LIST. Take photo of your caller ID when they called and then sue them.
I want to also warn anyone of getting adt. My house was robbed anyway. when i called ADT they said they would be out in 2 hours and never came that night. They rescheduled for the next day at 8 am and when did they come? at 2 pm. I missed a whole day at work waiting for the tech to basically tell me the system failed and i was taken by one of ADT subcontractors because they didn't even install the right system. They scheduled a week later to put in a new system in the mean time i am still expected to pay the bill on a system that wasn't even working and i am still waiting for the contractor to show up to install it. hes only 7 hours late and another day of work lost. my home owners has $1000 deductible i have to come up with cause ofcourse adt won't pay it. whatever you do. DO NOT GET ADT.
and if you would of payed the extra 3 0r 4 dollars a month they would cover all those charges.

Door to door agent for company...was absolutely the rudest person who I have come across in my 62 yrs. ..I politely said no thank to his offered service... His comment was
" Well, the criminals should be happy".. I was horrified..I called the no. On the flyer and stated how his comment was uncalled for...
He then stated " What was I suppose to say... Am I suppose to be nice...I was horrified again.. Now I would never ever use ADT... He was working waters Ave. In Seattle ...

Adt security systems are having a special that if you have time warner cable service that you get a $300.00 rebate from your security system installation. When i called i was told to call roger childs at [protected]. I did so leaving a voice mail every time (12 times) with no return call or rebate. This is located in dayton oh. I believe an intervention is needed by the bbb to get a result. Thank you
I have the same complaint. A $54 rebate that they told me I would get in two weeks has now NOT been received in 2 1/2 months. I've called their "rebate center" over a half dozen times to talk to "Lauren", leaving voice messages but getting no reply. I think it's time to escalate this the the State Atty gen. office for fraudulent business practices.

OUR ALARM STOPPED WORKING ON THE 23/12/2014. WE PHONED IN SEVERAL TIMES AND REPORTED IT STILL ISN'T WORKING. I would like to say how disappointed I am in ADT. I purchased the ADT Pulse and signed a 3 year contract. I am now out of my contract and decided to monitor my system myself. I have been told by ADT representative that I will not be able to monitor my system on a separate system on my phone due to lock codes they have on keypad. They will not unlock for me to use the equipment I purchased! I will now have to purchase new equipment to monitor on my own. What a waste of money ADT has made me waste! Over $3000.00 later and now my system is a waste of money. Just because they want to monitor the system!

harassing phone calls
I have been getting calls from you all since i set up a home phone with
windstream. Every time I get a call I have to block the number or they
call back at least 10 times (no over exaggeration). Everytime I block
the last number, they call from 2 new ones. I repeatedly ask to be taken
off the call list and that I dont even know how they got my number
considering I haven't gave my number out to my family let alone ADT and
all I ever hear is it may take up to 30 days to stop the calls. WHY?
WHY will it take so long for them to stop bugging the crap out of me? I
have had my home phone less than a week and have gotten a total of 73
calls from different numbers all trying to sell me or give me an adt
system for free.. I posted my complaint on their website and got this as a reply

8 Calls from these nut case's in two days and still calling! Every call they state that they will remove me from the call system they have. The last two caller were women who argued with me when I complained about their harassing phone calls. The last caller stated that my phone company is to blame for giving them my phone number then rudely hung up on me. They still keep calling and harassing me even though they all said that they would remove my phone from their call list. I wouldn't buy a thing from this phony bunch of people. They are rude and do not care about people who request and demand that the left us alone. The last rude caller who hung up on me was from Orange County California [protected] Where's the law to stop this harassment?
This company should be fined for every solicitation call they make- They call multiple times a day and WILL NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER- Why should be people be held prisoner in their own homes! This needs to stop!
rebate scam, no customer svc asst
Adt installed a security system in our home with the promise of a rebate by carol “the con” greene. To date we have not received any paperwork from adt. Each time we contact the 800 number, the rebate center or ms greene we are routed to voice mails without a return call or a I can’t help you please contact….
The better business bureau and the adt site itself is filled with dissatisfied and angry consumers.
Why is this still allowed to happen? Where the heck are you?

I’m writing this as a warning to all adt customers. Do not ever let adt know that you’ve disarmed your system or you may be burglarized.
Summary: burglary
We had problems with our adt alarm system all day on a saturday. The alarms were going off with every movement and adt couldn’t help or send a technician. I had been on the phone with 4 different reps, on hold a very long time, and was never given a call-back at the times they had promised. I had to call them each time.
Finally, I had to work over the phone with a service rep to disarm it by unplugging from the ac outlet and removing the batteries. The rep had consulted with technicians to help give me directions to do so. We then had scheduled an appointment for a technician to come to the house the following week.
The system was completely disarmed and adt personnel were well aware. That night, merely 3-4 hours after having to disable the alarm, we were burglarized.
This absolutely cannot be a coincidence. There is a connection with these burglars and adt. The police agreed with this and recommended I contact adt customer relations and file a formal complaint and expect an investigation.
Of course, adt customer relations denied that it was possible, stating that the service reps I had spoken to throughout the day were located outside my home state. They had stated they would provide a $500 something-or-other, but I never received anything.
I, nor my neighbors have ever had a burglary. We’ve lived here for 8 years, and my neighbors for decades. This one incident is not coincidence. Someone at adt contacted these burglars, and now my wife and 9 yr-old daughter had dear, irreplaceable things taken away from them ($15k worth), and we are forever traumatized. Adt couldn’t care less.

If an alarm was going off incessantly as you say, do you think somebody with criminal intentions may have heard this and deduced that you were having difficulties with your system that made you an easier target? So if you want to believe "this cannot possibly be a coincidence", then remain comfortable in your ignorance with your incorrect definition of "possibly". As a person who has been through a lot of trauma myself, I do sincerely apologize for your bad experience. But entitled individuals like yourself that point the finger before they seek rational explanation are part of what's wrong with not only our dear Nation, but the world as a whole.
illegal and unauthorized charges to my credit card
An Adt representative when I initially aquired their service promised a fixed monthly rate of 45.00. I provided them with my credit card number so they could automatically deduct the payment every month. Since 2010 they have renigged on the agreement repeatedly . Adt continues to steal money from my account by changing the monthly fee to now fifty dollars a month without my knowledge or authorization. The agreement was for 45.00 a month as long as I own my home. My system was paid for the same day I began my contract and I was guaranteed the rate would never change. Now I have to remove their access to my credit card in order to make sure they dont keep taking unauthorized amounts from my credit card. Not to mention someone broke into my home and the alarm failed. If you make an agreement get it im writing..
Never allow ADT to directly deduct payment from your account. This is a good way to get ripped off by them...

Agree, never, ever let ADT charge through EFT transfer. You will have no recourse. I canceled my account 6 months ago, and have canceled my account both in writhing and with phone calls. ADT continues to debit my account, and every time I call about getting my money back they tell me I have to talk with another department. Plain and simple, ADT is committing fraud and stealing money. If you google, you will find that ADT has been in several lawsuits about this kind of activity already.

Buyer Beware! - ADT does not install the majority of their systems. They use "Authorized Distributors" to install your system, then take over the monitoring contract. If your system is improperly installed, and does not work, there is no relief on the monthly monitoring charge. ADT tries to charge a $25 fee even to repair non working systems under warranty. Even though you own the system, they change the dealer and Installer codes so you can not change any programing or monitoring companies even after your three year contract has expired. Their technicians are not very competent. In my case there was a series of three technicians that came out to "fix" a problem with one of my sensors. The first tech improperly programmed the sensor, the second technician tried to correct the programing and the third technician finally straightened out the mess. Poor service, inflexible policies and a death grip on the customer. I highly recommend you look elsewhere before going with ADT.

This company deals with "half truths." Upon hiring, you are promised a seemingly incredible income, with all types of advancement opportunities.

As a salesperson, you are riding around in a van with your "team" (so you can be monitored). You are dropped off in a certain neighborhood and go door-to-door?.
Keep in mind, you're out in all kinds of weather (heat wave, rain) having doors slammed in your face?.
Secure Watch is continually hiring new employees (their usual lifespan is that of a fruit fly) because they impose numerous false deductions on your commissions.
Packages are sold on a "point system"?. The consumer is allowed so many points for their security package, with 8 allowable points (each door contact is 1 point, glass breaks or motion detectors are 2 points each…)
If the 8 points is exceeded, the salesperson's commission eats it, .
Even if your paperwork is perfect, there are no point overages, they see fit to chip away at your paycheck, citing false point overages'.
Conveniently enough, salespeople can't keep copies of contracts to contest these
Frequent erroneous deductions, and pay discrepancies - which gives the company free reign to literally steal from their employees – and they do with impunity/.
There's no one to complain to, as management is constantly changing company locations and utilizing huge employee turnovers!

Hello, I called adt and I arranged installation of an order I purchased from adt website www.Adt.com. I was greeted by a man using a felonious name which I researched who is actually related to the high school superintendent who I have always said was using fictitious names. They installed a system after breaking down beams that were significant in structure in my crawlspace and they made a bunch of holes in the walls using an old 2009 system that I am sure came from this persons own home of which he still has a remote for. They took 50 percent payment of 360.00 and then a month later after a failed installation sent me a letter from faith ordillas in jacksonville florida who titles herself chief of all responsibility and a powerful young lady who can deny you service. ADT is in bed with a company called 'Protect your Home' which is no better than the Mafia. They installed a garbage system at my home which never worked, sent the same tech out 6 times to repair it but never did and proceeded to bill me for months when the system never worked. After that, PROTECT YOUR HOME harassed and menaced me everyday with calls for what they called an early termination fee. There was none as the system never worked before leaving my family at risk for predators. They would call waking up my 6 year old daughter and distressing my family. They then hired a shark collection agency/law firm who harassed me also. I spoke to a Mike Schultz from ADT [protected]) who promised me he who fix everything offering to take off the charges and the installation fee from protect your home and apologized to me and my wife who was listening on a conference call. I had called the FCC and FTC to complain and Schultz promised that the calls from protect your home would stop immediately but the very next day protect your home was right back at it. Their number is [protected] Schultz than brokered a deal with us but again the very next day said he would not honor anything! Stay as far away as you can from these scam companies. They have no interest in helping you other than ripping you off! Their corporate address is 1 Town Center Road in Boca Raton Florida and their number is [protected]. I have had problems with this security system since it was installed. I have had two false alarms at midnight which caused me to search the house and garage with a loaded 45 looking for what I thought would probably be a wide-eyed, armed, meth user who decided to rob me. I currently have a sensor which has been out of service for going on 6 days now. I have called customer service at least three times for assistance in shutting down the alarm system to no avail. They are supposed to be sending a technician on Wednesday although they were supposed to send a technician more than a week ago.
Their contract is quite deceptive since it can be folded several ways to hide the multitude of legal jargon. I was even asked to initial the monthly service amount only to find out later that they can change that at any moment without advance warning. Whether or not you agree with the increase you are going to get billed at the same time the notice of increase is mailed. Imagine if you landlord or mortgage company did this to you. The process is that if you disagree you have to write to them. Their response, I am sure, would be they never got your letter. Supposedly if they do not agree with you there is another requirement that you give them an additional 30 days to cancel. This means that they have collected 90 days of increase which you are opposed to. They also want 75% of the remaining contract amount and a $50 disconnect fee. In my lifetime I have had customers who were not pleased with my service and I never once got thirty days notice they were stopping my service.
If the mortgage companies were sued by the government for bait and switch and predatory practices, then surely ADT is a prime candidate for a huge class action lawsuit for millions.
